Dramatic soccer manga. I think this will appeal to at least some of the readers who liked Blue Lock. Like Blue Lock, this volume at least centers around an intense selection program for a high level soccer team. The process in this book is less, you know, insane, and at least mildly plausible. The main character also has a strained relationship with his mother that I think a lot of readers will find relatable. The format does give me a little pause. Three volumes in one makes for a huge book, over 600 pages. A lot of the target audience, teen boys, are at least moderately resistant to reading something this big, even if it's manga. I think a double volume would have been a lot more appealing.

There's a lot to love in this immensely popular spots manga, and there are many lovable characters to pour all of your faith into. This 3-in-1 is a hefty book that will provide quite the introduction into this series. For me, there were a few moments where the narration didn't quite line up right and I got a little lost, but I managed to find my way again. This is a little more in line with classic sports manga like Slam Dunk and Kuroro's Basketball, so if those stories do well with your readers, or if you have soccer fans clamoring for more stories, give this series a try.
