Town Crier's daughter Julie and Detective Tom must catch the killer before he wipes out the Competition. Canberra Town Crier's daughter, Julie Belltower, accompanies her mum Jennifer to sunny Devon in England, for the Armada Cup, with Criers from Britain, Canada, the USA, Bermuda, New Zealand and Australia. One Crier is stabbed with a sword, and another poisoned at the Criers' luncheon, and everyone is afraid. Plymouth police detective Tom Courthope and his small team are overwhelmed by a professional criminal on a final spree, and the media are drawn in to the small towns for the vicious competition. A prize of a hundred thousand pounds has attracted the finest Criers, but the conman has planned to terrorise Plymouth, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth with his gun. Police Prosecutor Sarah Saxby joins the team, and Julie spends the rest of her "holiday" seeking a serial killer's family and previous victims. Still, nothing is sexier than gun shops, dodgy boats, chartered planes and a mystery to solve. Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!
This is not a review, it's a cry for help. I've had an author page as Mandy Partridge since 2021, and my full name is Mandy Curties Partridge. As there are 20 Mandy Partridges in the UK alone, I've been advised to use my full legal name as an author. When I married back in 2011, I kept my maiden name as my middle name, as I knew I'd have to change my name on dozens of documents, cards, licences, and on every bill and account, and I value my ancient surname. So now I'm up against the automation of Goodreads, and the lovely volunteer librarians told me I'd have to open a new author page. But Goodreads could not give me a page as Mandy Curties Partridge, only this one (Mandy Curties). I started a new author page, and started reviewing again, and searching for friends again. Now, I can't have my book attributed to this author page, either. And, I'm unable to claim the author page of Mandy Curties Partridge. Does anybody know how I can fix this? I'd love to have either of my author pages displaying my full legal name, but cannot for the life of me work out how to do it. Any advice gladly taken and followed. Also, it's a great book, full of weird characters, strange situations, red herrings and violent death. Please help, I can't make the Goodreads program identify me, and link me to my latest book. This dilemma is holding me back from fully launching this book, and I am stumped. Help!
Such a good book, what a pity the author can't get it attributed to either of her author pages. I've had my Mandy Partridge author page here since 2021, and love reading everyone's reviews. I published my first four books as Mandy Partridge, then was advised that there were multiple Mandy Partridges in Britain, (I'm from Australia), and I should use my full legal name. So I've published my last two books as Mandy Curties Partridge. Only, I can't make the fully automated Goodreads program understand that. A volunteer librarian told me to start a new author page, but I could only get "Mandy Curties" and not "Mandy Curties Partridge". It's hard when you try to communicate this with the algorithm, every piece of identification I own is in my full legal name. If anyone knows how I can have my latest book attributed to either of my Goodreads accounts, I'd love to hear from them. This book follows an Australian town crier's daughter, Julie, to a competition is beautiful Devon, south west England, when criers start dying in quick succession. Teaming up with Plymouth police detective, Tom, when she realises that his small team is overwhelmed by a professional killer. Together, they seek the evidence to convict a sociopath before he kills again.
Loved this book! So interesting about town criers from all over the world and trying to figure out who was the murderer! I don’t have any town criers near where I live but will keep an eye out for competitions that I can travel to.
