The Alchemy of Fate

Rate this book
GOT meets Hades and Persephone retelling in this intricate Adult Fantasy Romance.

If we are merely the product of our first choices, weren't second chances the universe's true purpose all along?
In the Post-Great Fever world, there were no heroes and villains, only attack and defense, so everyone had their share of good and evil. Being defensive did not attest to a person’s benevolence, in the same way that an attack could be an act of bravery. Altruism was a façade, a game of interests, a utopia as fanciful as dragon legends. Love, on the other hand, was a vulnerability, and protecting the loved ones was, perhaps, the only purely charitable act a man could perform, no matter whether he chose shield or sword for it. And Roger Assur would always choose the sword.

Every day, Kira Assur tried to remember why she—the heir to the Austere throne—had agreed to relinquish her birthright and join in blood with the second son of a mad foreign king. The perfect golden beauty, they used to call her. The title, however, didn't prevent her dejection the moment she found out that, on their wedding day, the bride had never been the groom’s most anticipated moment.

I’m probably the most desperate, f*** up person in the goodreads because I read this book in 2022 as an Alfa reader and I’m still waiting for that last twist to unfold!!! Yep… a cliffhanger. Not gonna lie.

So, this is what I remember from The Alchemy of Fate:

Things happen fast in the beginning. There’s multiple pov, and some of them were a little slow because it had a lot of world building. But they all added to the plot in the end, so be patient… things will be REVEALED!

And when you get to the MMC’s sequence of POV around 65% in, U JUST CAN’T put the thing down any longer!!!!
It was INSANE!

And the lines??? Roger’s lines shot me down and put me on my knees!

The FMC was a little annoying in the beginning. But she has so many shades… and she grew on me in the end… Especially in her last chapter. Look, she is not reliable. You might have thought you had her figured out. But no… you didn’t.

And I guess I still don’t know what she’s truly up to. But I love that about her. I think that empowers her. All that mystery.

Philip might be my favorite character 😂 although Roger is 🥵

And I don’t know… But there’s a villain there that vibes with Rhysand in the first ACOTAR. (That’s only a guess)

I can’t wait for book 2!

I recieved a copy through bookfunnel as an ARC READER.
I thought the word building was impressive and the characters relatable. I cannot say anything about the FMC, but the MMC is a true villain, no cinnamon roll. The kind that would burn the world for her.
I loved it and can’t wait for the next!!
