Welcome to my author's profile.

I am not the famous homonymous composer, although I love music.
I am an engineer and I write novels.

William Walton is my pen name.

Books, pianos and all things mechanical have always fascinated me.

I began reading Mickey-Mouse comics; every weekend Dad would buy me the pleasantly scented little comics booklet which kept me company for the coming week. Yes, Mr. Disney played an important part in my very early education, and I am proud of that.

Those childhood years also saw my early approaches to the piano. It was Mum who taught me how to read notes on the stave even before my initiation to the alphabet, and I began playing little tunes by ear.
Also the first proper book I received was a present from her: Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Seas. Every day, after school, I plunged undisturbed with the Nautilus in the depths of the oceans.

After High School and College I've become a mechanical engineer.

I've lived in several countries—Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom—for many years, and, while striving for a professional career, that part of me which thrived on exploring imaginary worlds and enjoyed the emotions of playing the piano withered. So much so that as I returned to a classical concert after many years tears gushed out of my eyes as the first chord from the orchestra reached the depths of my soul.

Time has finally come for a change; with the mid-life mark quite a few years behind me, I have become a full-time writer and I am happy. When I get tired of writing I sit at the piano and play, and when I am tired of that I go in the garage and take care of my old scooter and my old car.

This is me; that's the way I tick.

Time is getting ripe for a full coming out. In the meantime I took a little courage and I made a first step by uploading a picture of me back in the Mickey Mouse days.

If you happen to like my books, keep in touch, I would be delighted.
Stay healthy and keep your right hemisphere busy.

A virtual hug,
William
