I read Jeremy Beadle's other book which I liked a lot, and was thus motivated to check this one out.

This is a little less experimental and except for the reveal at the end, it uses a more traditional mystery structure. What will stick with me the most is the sad character studies of various desperate people, whose greatest shame and burden is their association with gayness.

And poor Marcus.
