It was Dean…

Dean and Millie. They would have been beautiful together except, he kept on fvcking that bitch Paige. Paige was so jealous of Millie that she went after any man that showed an interest in her. And Dean was so easy. He just did nothing to go after Millie, even though he was in love with her, but it was okay to keep on banging the manipulative, lying witch.

No, sorry but the second he stuck his self in Paige and basically never stopped until he had to, that was it. Millie deserved better.

Just my opinion.

KU read. I understand that this is not the 50’s, where at least most women pretended to be chaste for their husbands. But the fact Millie’s cousin banged her guys makes me want to 🤮. STD testing for all involved… and Dean will always be tainted by his association with Paige.

Plot: 4.5/5 • Spice: 4/5 ————> Miscommunication at its finest. And I was such a sucker for it. I absolutely loved this. We have backstabbing family members, cheating fiancées, miscommunication, slight stalking, second chances, one bed, touch her and die.

Millie is about to get married to a guy who is cheating on her with her cousin/best friend. She’s anonymously given proof of the what’s been going on for two years. The anonymous tipper sends an email with texts - current and past. Even when Millie knows what’s going on she’s plotting her revenge, but doesn’t execute until the day of the wedding.

A runaway bride after telling the truth, she grabs the arm of Dean and asks him to come with her. Dean was the guy she met at her sister’s bachelorette party two years ago. They shared a moment. And Millie wanted more (and apparently so did Dean) but was ruined by Paige, the cousin. Paige has always thought Millie was a goody to shoes and boring. Paige was always overshadowing her and being the life of the party.

Paige and Dean were hooking up for a while, and Millie continued her relationship with Allistar. Dean pining over Millie the entire time. Even to the point where he would say her name when he came. Not Paige’s. 👀👀

The two go on the honeymoon meant for Millie and Allistar. They struggle for a little bit. They banter. They bicker. They put on a show for everyone pretending they’re together. Obviously feelings grow even more here. Dean gets a call from Millie’s dad basically saying “here’s 10mill if you leave my daughter alone” he doesn’t accept and even though he stays a few more days, he does wind up leaving early. Breaking both their hearts.

They don’t see each other for two months after that. Millie is still receiving anonymous emails that included more texts from Paige to Dean etc.

This does eventually land on a HEA. I really did enjoy this. I’m so glad Millie figured out who she really was and didn’t change for anyone. Not even Dean. Dean is so in love with Millie it just kind of makes you swoon. Even when he has some creepy moments. Who cares lol.

ARC Review – Out Feb 10th

Thank you to Grey’s Promotions for the ARC.

This was my first Megyn Ward book, and overall I really enjoyed it. I’d rate this a solid four-star read with three chili peppers.

The story starts with Millie attending her sister’s bachelorette party. She comes from an extremely wealthy and influential family, her father is a powerful business owner, and Millie, as the eldest daughter, is expected to be the heir to the company. During the celebrations, she meets Dean, who’s working the event as part of the hired staff (essentially a bartender/butler role). At the time, Millie is technically dating someone else, though she’s not particularly invested. She and Dean share a brief but memorable kiss before being interrupted by her cousin… and that’s where things end.

Fast forward two years, and Millie is about to get married, until she receives anonymous messages revealing that her fiancé has been cheating on her with that same cousin… who also happens to have been sleeping with Dean during that time. Messy doesn’t even begin to cover it.

From there, the book leans heavily into revenge fantasy, second chance romance, and emotional chaos. Millie and Dean reconnect, and things escalate quickly when they end up going on Millie’s honeymoon together. Hello forced proximity and the one bed trope (not once, but twice 👀).

If you love a good girl praise kink, this book is absolutely for you. “Good girl” might be the only phrase in Dean’s vocabulary, and honestly, I wasn’t mad about it.

The story is told through dual POV, and while some scenes are revisited from both Millie and Dean’s perspectives, it never felt overly repetitive. Instead, it added emotional depth and context, which I appreciated.

The banter between Millie and Dean is chef’s kiss; sharp, funny, and full of tension. There are also clear connections to characters from the author’s previous books, which definitely made me want to go back and read more from this universe.

The reason this wasn’t a five-star read for me comes down to miscommunication. At times it was genuinely frustrating, and I found myself thinking, just talk to each other already. That said, the miscommunication does fuel the angst and drama, so I get why it’s there, it just didn’t always hit for me.

Overall, I had a great time with this book. If you enjoy second chance romance, enemies-to-lovers energy, revenge plots, and characters who throw verbal salt at each other in a mean-but-fun, bantery way, I think this will really work for you.

Yea idk why this keeps getting so many 5 star reviews. The characters suck. The plot sucks. And it’s over 500 pages long, which is entirely unnecessary for a contemporary romance. Everyone thinks Millie is boring and guess what? She is! She has zero personality other than being offended by everything Dean says and does. Dean is your garden variety fuckboy with self esteem issues who can’t get out a sentence without being self deprecating and constantly referring to himself as “the help.” There is no world in which I believe he’s been secretly in love with and pining for Millie the entire time he’s been fucking her best friend/cousin the last two years. None. Millie’s 28, yet she was a virgin until she met her fiance two years before? Really??? Give me a fucking break. I just truly cannot read another book with a female character whose so inexperienced and whose sex life is fucking pathetic only to have the raging fuckboy come in and fall at her feet wanting to teach her to be sexual. Fucking gross. Would it kill you to write a strong, sexually confident female character for once instead of an uptight prude?? Or do we have to ensure every “romance” novel reminds women they must avoid sex as a rule to be attractive to a man, and even if they do it, it must be absolutely terrible for them until their one true love arrives- but only after he’s done fucking his way through the city. I mean, how else will he have all the experience necessary to teach her how to have great sex??? 🤮

Millie Blackwell is the queen of revenge!!! After finding out her fiance and best friend are having an affair, she airs all their dirty laundry at the ceremony and invites her long-time crush on her honeymoon in front of everyone!

Getting to know Millie and Dean's backstory had me feeling all the feels! Hilarious at all the nicknames he gives her, sad at the way everyone treats her, angry at Paige and Allister for being so cruel, and heartbroken at all the missed time due to misconceptions, prejudices and straight up trickery!

I loved watching karma unfold and seeing Millie gain confidence and love for herself.

Megyn Ward is a new author to me, but the cover and blurb alone had me intrigued! I loved her writing style, storyline, and the l character development. I am definitely interested in learning more about the Gilroy family!

Everyone thinks Millie is a boring stick in the mud, so when she goes scorched earth on her lying, cheating fiancé at the wedding, then runs off with her best friend's on again off again boyfriend on the honeymoon, it goes viral on social media. She and Dean may have almost gotten together two years ago, but now they can't be in the same room without fighting. But faking a bit of chemistry in public would be the perfect revenge on both their exes. What could possibly go wrong?
Wow, the banter and teasing between these two was so much fun! I love how Millie lets her true personality show with Dean when she's so straight- laced with everyone else. Their whole time on Hawthorn Key was full of tension and spice until everything fell apart. And then my favorite Gilroy shows up!!! Guaranteed Connor shows up in every story like the puppet master behind the scenes and I love it! Makes me want to reread all of my Gilroys again 😆
I received a complimentary copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

I could make a list of things I loved about this book! Millie and Dean are the perfect characters that have the perfect level of flaw but you are rooting for them from page one.

The story starts at a Bachelorette party, a lot of flirting, and an almost kiss, but flashes forward, and you get to continue the banter that started when Millie and Dean meet. Its when Millie gets the idea that her upcoming nuptials are full of lies, takes her life into her own hands and puts her fiancee and her best friend/cousin in their place, and it leads to a "kidnapping" of Dean and having him accompanying her to her honeymoon. It doesn't take long for the spice to surface. As always, it doesn't go as planned, there is moments of heartache, but then you get the return of characters that so many may have missed... The Gilroys!!!!

The story is the perfect level of spice and banter, and you will want a Dean for yourself by the end of the book. You can't help but smile and cheer when the Gilroys guide our hero and heroine through their journey to find themselves again.

Five stars times infinity!

don’t be fooled by the amazing and witty banter between Millie and Dean and think it’s an enemies to lovers because while it seems that way on the surface, there’s so much depth to this story. Mainly because Dean is a whipped mfcker and the author served us male yearning on a freaking silver platter. The second I saw that this story was going to be about getting back at your cousin who slept with your fiancée by sleeping with her boyfriend I was hooked. What I didn’t expect was for the boyfriend to be so obsessed with the fmc. They’re stuck on a “honeymoon” together and the one he’d trope hits so damn hard. The plot was amazing and had me hooked from start to finish. There were quite a few angsty parts but also amazing plot twists (and we can’t forget intense smut scenes). I loved the story how unique it was. For the characters, I cannot stress how much I love Dean, man was basically following her around like a lost puppy from the moment they met. He was super attentive, and was willing to keep up their banter/fighting and watch her get married to someone else because he just wanted to be in her presence. However Millie had some show stopping character development, like nothing I’ve read before. In the first chapter she was an extremely insecure girl used to being constantly bullied by her cousin and friends, and we see this as a constant struggle throughout the book as she refuses to accept that she can be loved. Try it’s so sad and broke my heart many times. But by the end of the book, she’s a much stronger woman, it’s even apparent in the middle of the book when she leaves her “perfect” cheating fiancée. This book was such a powerful experience, perfect for a romance reader looking for some fun witty banter but also to become an emotional wreck. I give this a 5/5

I liked this book more than I expected to, and was actually pretty captivated. The book while reading the blurb sounded pretty straight forward/simple, but the execution of it was so much better. Megyn is a new to me author, so I didnt have any insight into what to expect from her writing style, but I really enjoyed it.

Not wanting to give anything away outside of the blurb, but the story is about Millie and Dean who originally meet at Millie's sister bachelorette party. They ofc share some chemistry, and a quick kiss and then thats that until Millie finds out that her Fiancee is cheating on her with her cousin, who happens to be sleeping with Dean! Messy, messy, messy 😂 From there we hit ALL the below tropes, including my favorite "He Falls First and Harder" 🫠 Dean is the definition of down bad for Millie and I am absolutely here for it. Only thing I didnt love, is the miscommunication trope reared its ugly head here a few times which was a bit frustrating...I whole heartily hate that trope, but I liked the characters and the story enough to push through the frustration.

Basically, I highly recommend giving this book a try if you love the below tropes like I do...

Tropes:
🖤 Fake Relationship
😈 Hate To Love
🖤 Second Chance Romance
😈 Slow Burn
🖤 He Falls First
😈 Angsty
🖤 Forced Proximity
😈 Only One Bed
🖤 It's Always Been You
😈 Enemies To Lovers [ish]

Everyone always makes Millie feel like she’s boring. “Stick in the mud Millie” is what her sister and best friend (& cousin, Paige) call her. Dean is one of two hot bartenders at Millie’s sisters bachelorette party. He instantly feels a pull towards Millie but of course she hides. Two years later and Millie is engaged to Allister. But thanks to an email finds out Paige started texting and meeting up with Allister almost immediately after her sisters party. They’ve been having an affair for practically her whole time dating him. This was such a fantastic book. Millie’s revenge was beautiful. Her last minute decision to take Dean with her. Them finally giving into their feelings. But also wanting to shake both of them so they actually talk things through instead of assuming. The chokehold this book had on me. I can’t remember the last time I stayed up way too late reading because I had to finish a book. But this one I physically couldn’t put down. So I’ll be running on 3 1/2 hour of sleep and some energy drinks later.

I don't usually do too well reading some of the longer books out there because I lose concentration, so you know I enjoyed this book when I was reading it before work, during if I could and definitely after, and didn't once think oh gosh, this is dragging!

I loved Millies arc, I enjoyed how she went from over thinking how to not upset the family/business/embarrass them, to being a bit more free at the end. And I enjoyed how everyone came around to Dean by the end, that he isn't the fuck boy he plays at the start.

I actually really enjoyed the villains in this too! You may know what they did, but the why just makes them even worse!

Has all you expect too - banter, bickering, spice, and honestly, Dean and Millie are just sweet together.

Really enjoyed - thank you for the opportunity to read 😌

Thank you to Grey’s Promotions and the author for allowing me to ARC read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Revenge Fantasy was such a fun, swoony surprise from a new-to-me author. The story pulled me in immediately and kept me hooked from start to finish. The banter was sharp, playful, and full of chemistry, and I absolutely loved the runaway bride element. It added just the right amount of chaos and emotion to keep the pages turning.

Millie’s character growth was one of my favorite parts of the book. Watching her find her strength and finally stand up for herself was incredibly satisfying. And Dean… Dean loved her from the very beginning, without hesitation, without conditions, and without wavering. He was all in through every high and low, and that unwavering devotion made my heart very happy.

While there was some repetitive dialogue and overuse of certain words, it didn’t take away from the story or the emotional connection I felt to the characters. Overall, this was a sweet, romantic, and engaging read, and I’m definitely excited to read more from this author in the future.

So much more than I expected......you don't want to miss this one! I was hooked instantly and couldn't put this book down. It was so entertaining. Megyn does enemies to lovers so well with an amazing amount of humor, angry banter, and spicy tension. Millie and Dean are complete opposites and are perfect together. I adored the plethora of M nicknames that Dean used and looked forward to the running jokes throughout the book. Highly recommend this book and can't wait for more from the author.

Who doesn’t love a little revenge, especially when the guy you’re supposed to marry turns out to be absolute trash? The angst was chef’s kiss and watching the mean girl get her karma was honestly so satisfying. Also, can we talk about Dean? The man is obsessed in the best way, and we all deserve a Dean in our lives. Dean and Millie definitely made us work for their HEA, but it was totally worth it. Another 5 Stars for sure.

4.5 stars.

What happens when your best friend/cousin has been shacking up with your fiancé since you met him and you're getting married in 2 days? You expose their cheating texts at the altar and run off with the guy you met at your sister's bachelorette party 2 years ago.

The banter between Dean and Millie was honestly so refreshing, they almost hated each other and were mean but it was light-hearted at the same time and so funny. Their chemistry is UNDENIABLE.

Dean was PINING over Millie since the night he met her and even went as far to start a situationship up with her cousin just to get close to her (I mean how desperate the cousin is to continue with him even though he was calling Millie's name during sex LOL)

I only give it 4.5 rather than 5 because the mis-communication started to irk me towards the 3/4 mark.

February has quickly become my month for trying new authors, so this was my first time picking up a book by Megyn Ward. Going in, I expected a light-hearted romcom based on the blurb, and while I was sure I’d enjoy it, I didn’t anticipate just how much I’d fall for Millie and Dean’s story. Despite being part of one of New York’s wealthiest families, Millie is totally lacking in confidence despite knowing she’s destined to one day take over the family business. She’s never really had a wild phase, and the closest she comes is during her sister’s hen weekend, where she awkwardly tries to flirt with a barman named Dean. Unfortunately, her so-called best friend and cousin quickly shuts down any chance of something happening. Fast forward two years, just days before her own high-society wedding to her boring but suitable banker fiancé, Allister, an email lands in her inbox exposing his long-running affair with the aforementioned cousin. From that moment on, determined not to take it lying down, she begins plotting her revenge, leading to a dramatic runaway bride moment that sets the whole story in motion.

Following a ‘don’t get mad, get even’ mindset, Millie starts acting completely out of character. The once well-behaved good girl ends up accidentally kind of kidnapping her cousin’s on/off boyfriend and taking him along on her honeymoon. Things start to unravel when she realises the suite only has one bed and she’s not quite driven enough by revenge to go that far and sleeping with the enemy. Fortunately for her, her “hostage” as it turns out is Dean the barman, who’d fallen for Millie the moment he saw her. He’d only went out with her skanky cousin on occasions when he thought he’d run into Millie again, OK so that’s possibly borderline obsessive and stalkerish behaviour on the surface, but hey, the heart wants what the heart wants. As the old Millie starts to reappear and panic, Dean goads her into keeping up the charade that they’re having a torrid affair, much to the delight of her ever-growing IG following, who quickly crown her their favourite role model. #weloveapettyqueen

What really makes the book shine is the relationship between Millie and Dean. When she’s with him, she becomes braver, more outspoken, and more confrontational. Their dynamic is fantastic, full of witty banter, playful arguments, and undeniable chemistry that I found myself smiling the whole time I was reading. Still, Millie can’t shake the fear that Dean wouldn’t want her if she didn’t come from money, while Dean, despite building a successful business, feels he isn’t wealthy or good enough for her. Misunderstandings and their inability to communicate leads to the inevitable but classic third-act breakup, with both retreating to their respective corners to lick their wounds while the skanky cousin continues meddling as though she’s faced no consequences. Thankfully, the mysterious whistleblower still lingers in the background, determined to ensure the happy ending they both deserve. The secondary characters added another layer of charm to the story. I especially enjoyed the appearances from the Gilroys, and their books have definitely made their way onto my TBR list. I’m particularly intrigued by Conner, and if this story is anything to go by, I’m really glad I took a chance on this author.

😊What i liked -

✔Enemies To Lovers/Fake Dating/Forced Proximity/He Falls First/Sort Of A Second Chance.
✔This is the second book I read where the FMC outs her Fiancé's cheating ways right before the 'I Do' (obvio the wedding doesn't happen. I hooted loudly when she actually did that and ousted her supposed best friend/cousin who her fiancé was cheating on her with (i was appalled- yes i know big words too). I loved Dean and Millie's chemistry from the minute they met- though there was a ton of miscommunication between them (not a fan of it though but somehow it made this story work). Their getaway to the honeymoon and the way they got closer there was 🔥. Oh and I loved how the person who was behind all the anonymous messages mystery unravels (it was interesting). The book had a bit of a bollywood movie twist in it when Millie's father offers Dean a hefty amount to forget this daughter and he says no- made me swoon a bit (though it was slightly over the top). I liked both MC's character growth. This book had jealousy, drama, backstabbing and a ton of falling in love.

🤔What could have been better-

✔Okay now this is really hard to write. I absolutely loved both the MC's but I found a couple of things a bit odd. One was Dean thinking about Millie and still getting frisky with Paige and second Millie thinking that things with Dean were ruined because of this connection with her cousin. Oh and one more was Millie's father still letting Paige off the hook till a third party did not verify that all the messages were true 👀 (i was shocked).

Revenge Fantasy is an absolute blast that has created one of the most swoon-worthy male characters I've read about in a long time.

Revenge Fantasy follows Millie, who, days before her wedding, finds out her fiancé is cheating on her with her cousin/best friend. In order to get revenge, Millie nabs up her cousin's on-again-off-again boyfriend, Dean, and takes him on her honeymoon, where they decide to fake a relationship to get back at their former significant others. While the relationship may be fake, they discover some of their feelings might not be.

The actual plot itself is basically addicting to read because there's just enough "will they, won't they" to keep stringing you along, dying to know what's going to happen. While this has the fake relationship trope, it in no way seems like a cliche or like a story you've read before. The characters and events in the story make it totally unique and keep you guessing. It also seems relatively believable because Millie comes from this very rich and famous family, where every move between her and Dean will be speculated about and potentially photographed.

Millie is a great main character. While she comes from this rich, spoiled family, she is a very level-headed, grounded person and often referred to as the "buzzkill" of the family, which is something I think a lot of us have felt about ourselves before. She's kind of reserved and "perfect" in the sense that she's very prudent, but internally she's very relatable and just as emotional as the rest of us.

Dean is a great male main character because he is a VISION of yearning. His (kind of) obsession with Millie is the kind that isn't creepy because he separates himself from her as much as possible, believing she's too good for him. He's completely captivated by her from the moment they meet and it just makes you root for him SO much. And then his feelings of inadequacy are also so relatable and make you really empathize with him.

Reading about Millie and Dean's relationship is so fun. Their banter is top-notch and just totally enjoyable. They have this deprecating way of talking to each other that is so witty and hides their true feelings about one another, while also really effectively building tension.

The steamy scenes in this book are very well-written and a slow enough burn that you keep hoping for more and walk away from the scenes with the same kind of unfulfilled desire that the characters feel about each other.

Overall, this book absolutely achieves making you want the main characters to be together. They are so complimentary and fun to read about. I enjoyed this thoroughly and will definitely be reading more by Megyn Ward.

This was my first book by Megyn Ward, and it definitely won’t be my last—I’m already planning to dive into her Gilroy clan series next! Revenge Fantasy is a sizzling, drama-filled romance that blends betrayal, revenge, and second chances into an addictive read.

Megyn Ward delivers a fast-paced, steamy romance with plenty of drama and heart. Millie is a strong, relatable heroine who refuses to be a victim, and Dean is the perfect mix of rugged charm and loyalty. If you love revenge plots, sizzling chemistry, and a satisfying happily-ever-after, Revenge Fantasy is must-read.

Perfect for fans of: Second-chance romance, scandalous weddings, and strong female leads.

The story follows Millie Blackwell, the poised eldest daughter of Manhattan’s powerful Blackwell family. At her sister’s bachelorette party, Millie meets Dean Mercer, a charming bartender with undeniable chemistry. Their connection is instant, but circumstances—and a meddling cousin—cut their first encounter short.

Fast forward two years: Millie is preparing to marry Allister, the man everyone assumes is perfect for her. But when Millie discovers shocking evidence of an affair between Allister and her cousin Paige, her world shatters. Instead of quietly walking away, Millie orchestrates the ultimate revenge at her wedding—a jaw-dropping scene that will have readers cheering.

This was a novel worth the wait. Dean and Millie from the start were drawn to each other.

Megyn Ward is a new author to me, who I will absolutely read again.

Millie organises her sister’s bachelorette party. She is the eldest daughter of the extremely wealthy Blackwell family, and is expected to be the heir to the company one day.
During the poolside party, she meets Dean who is one of the sexy bar staff hired mostly for their hotness. They have “a moment” but are interrupted by the meddling cousin/friend Paige and that’s where things end.

2 years later, days before Millie is due to wed Allistair, she receives anonymous messages showing the texts/photos/videos between her fiance and Paige, proving that they have been having an affair since the bachelorette party, Paige being the instigator, but Paige also happens to have been sleeping with Dean during that time. Messy doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Millie is angry rather than sad, and decides to go through the motions, not letting on to anyone she knows and decides she will show everyone who they really are and at the altar, she starts reading some of the messages out and then sends a copy to EVERYONE in the church.

The story is told through dual POV, and this lends well to showing how the relationship is so hard to get past things that they have believed for so long, trust issues, miss communication etc. It added emotional depth and context to the story.

The banter between Millie and Dean is fantastic, I loved that throughout their relationship Dean pretended he didn’t know what Millie was short for and so called her every possible name and random M words, such as Maleficent, Megatron and Macaroon to name but a few, each and every time, making me smile.

I read this book in a day and a half as I couldn’t stop (unless forced to). I would highly recommend it.

Megyn Ward writes books that intrigue you and have you hooked from beginning to end. This one right here is top on the list to be read. A revenge fantasy with second chance romance emotional chaos enemies to lovers and touch her and die vibes. Seriously what more could you possibly ask for.
Millie is what some would say a spoiled princess but, on the inside, she is just someone that wants to be noticed for who she really is and loved for who she really is. She is about to get married, but she soon learns through text messages that her fiancé and evil cousin/best friend have been sleeping with each other behind her back for almost the whole time she has been with her fiancé. Holy hell let me tell you I wanted to throw my kindle. But no fear Millie instantly plots revenge. Yep, she plots and delivers it at just the right exact moment.
Once the truth comes out, she gracefully exits right down the alley to the one man she has had a crush on for 2 years since they shared a moment that she never forgot about. She asks Dean to come with her on what should have been her honeymoon.
This is when the storyline really gets intense, interesting and you are hooked more than you were before. You are now on the crazy ride of Millie and Dean. Banter between these two is top notch off the freaking charts sharp funny and full of tension. I absolutely could not get over each and every single name he has for her. But will these two be able to realize before it is to late what is really truly between them? Because everyone can see it but them.
I was hooked. Could not put it down until I knew what happened between them. Sure, the revenge is sweet and I could not be happier that Millie gets back at her cousin in the sweetest way. But the burning chemistry between her and Dean is something that is page turning and a must read. Megyn brings you a dual pov style read that adds such depth to the storyline. I absolutely love when you can be right there and see and feel what each character is dealing with feeling and going through while trying to hold on to see if they find happy ever after.
You learn to love Dean after possibly hating him. But really what is there not to love. He cares so much about Millie it is a little odd at times, but you clearly see where his heart is and that is what made me get past the hate, I had for him at the beginning. There is a small twist in this that you clearly don't see coming from a mile away and hold on because once you learn the twist it will explain so very much.
Definitely one of my favorites from Megyn. Highly recommend.

Revenge Fantasy is a contemporary romance built around one woman’s spectacularly petty (and understandable) response to betrayal, and it landed at 4 stars for me. Three days before her wedding, the heroine discovers her straight‑laced investment‑banker fiancé is sleeping with her wild‑child best friend… who also happens to be her cousin and maid of honour. Instead of quietly calling things off, she reads their filthy texts aloud at the altar in front of everyone, leaves him humiliated, and then goes on the honeymoon anyway—with her cousin’s tattooed, walking‑red‑flag situationship, Dean Mercer.
The setup is deliciously messy in the best way: jilted bride, revenge trip to a tropical resort, “we’re only pretending” turns very real, and a cocky hero who slides from “absolutely not” to “maybe he’s everything” pretty quickly. The banter between the leads is sharp, the chemistry sizzles, and there are plenty of fun, chaotic moments—especially once their fake relationship hits social media and the exes start watching.
While the premise is wildly entertaining and I flew through it, some emotional beats felt a bit surface level, and the transition from enemies‑ish to serious feelings was faster than I personally prefer. I wanted a little more depth and reflection beneath all the pettiness and steam. That said, if you’re in the mood for a fast, fun, trope‑heavy vacation romance full of drama, revenge, and a tattooed red flag you can’t help rooting for, this will absolutely scratch that itch. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review

This is my first Megyn Ward book since the Gilroy Clan series. I’ve missed reading this author’s books. This hilarious, slow burn revenge book is very good. Millie’s family is extremely wealthy and while they are a little crazy and wild, Millie is quiet and steadfast. Millie isn’t looking for much nor does she expect much. Her fiancé is a very boring and quiet banker, whom she discovers is cheating on her a few days before their wedding. Millie handles the delivery of that news to others in a most entertaining way. She then decides to take Dean with her on her fake honeymoon. Now Dean is the opposite of Millie in many ways. Dean and Millie met when she was hosting her cousin’s bachelorette party and they briefly shared a kiss. While Dean was really into Millie she didn’t really believe him. Now this book has so much going on, that it’s hard to tell you everything. But for me the story doesn’t truly start until Dean and Millie go away together because then it’s almost like a second chance, close proximity romance. This book was funny and spicy and I loved the banter between these two. Now there were characters mentioned that may be from previous books which means I need to start reading Megyn Ward’s backlist to catch up. If you haven’t read any books by this author, you are missing out.

📕BOOK REVIEW📕

This is my first book by the author, and it certainly isn’t going to be my last.

Millie meets Dean as her sister’s hen party, where he is the topless barman. Millie is known to her family as the boring, introvert, who isn’t up for fun. However, Dean sees her differently, and after a near night together, Millie sees something she cannot forget and leaves the party. A few years later, Millie is about to marry a finance bro, but when she finds out he’s cheating on her with her best friend (and cousin), Millie decides it’s time to get her own back, and she takes Dean along for the ride.

Honestly, this book gave me whiplash, in a good way 🤪
Millie is absolute goals. I was clapping and whooping when she stood up to her fiancé and cousin. I actually HATED her; she was such a nasty character, but she’s also just perfectly written to make you feel that way about her.

There was not much I disliked about Dean. The man is HOT as heck. His infatuation with Millie was honestly just perfection. Their teasing and foreplay was one of the best scenes which keeps you rooting for them. There is a LONG third act break up. I’m not a fan usually, as it’s often miscommunication, but I actually think for this plot, it needed to happen. Millie has literally been mugged off, so you can’t blame her for airing on the side of caution.

Millie’s character growth is what I was most impressed about. I loved her.

"I just blew up my whole fucking life to help you play runaway bride, Princess—” I flip my hand at the discarded pile of satin and handmade lace laying on the floor between us. “the least you can do is buy me a few umbrella drinks.”

Tropes:
Opposites Attract, Runaway Bride, Forced Proximity, One Bed, Best Friend's Ex, Love to Hate You, Second Chance

The characters are SO well done. Dean is gonna split that line. You're either gonna hate to love him or love to hate him, lol. Millie is a little sheltered introvert who's happy to be on the outside looking in, or so we think. Bring the two of them together and watch the flames combust. I really do think my favorite part of a Megyn Ward book is her characterization. She has the best characters.

Revenge Fantasy is built on revenge, obviously. And once the story gets to moving you don't want to quit reading. You can't wait to get to the next sparring session, the next steamy scene. You can't wait to find out will they, won't they. Who's going to stop them now.
I LOVE all things angsty and this one is no exception.

With fantastic writing, a storyline that's fresh, and so many of my favorite tropes Revenge Fantasy is my fave read of the year!

Revenge Fantasy by Megyn Ward is honestly the best contemporary romance I’ve read in a long time. What a plot!!! Finding out your fiancé is cheating with your best friend and cousin three days before your wedding is brutal, but reading their explicit texts out loud at the ceremony? I was shocked. Taking the honeymoon anyway, with her betrayer’s tattooed, walking red-flag, on-again-off-again boyfriend, is pure madness… and I loved every second of it. What starts as revenge slowly turns into a slow-burn explosive romance. Millie and Dean are total opposites, and the forced proximity gives us sharp banter, hate-to-love tension, and chemistry that practically burns off the page. The little things made me swoon: Dean calling her different names starting with M, pretending not to know her real name even though he’s obsessed with her from day one, while Millie’s insecurities and always feeling like she’s living in her cousin’s shadow felt so real. Together they’re explosive, emotional, and hot as hell, and watching Millie find her voice while seeing the layers behind Dean’s rough edges made my heart ache more than once. This book made me laugh, gasp, cry a little, and just sit there… feeling everything. It sticks with you long after the last page.
