Nate Waterson, Married in Malibu’s tech expert, is Tamara Truscott’s best customer at Malibu T and Coffee. Nate claims he needs lots of coffee to keep him sharp and full of energy, but his friends and co-workers at the boutique wedding venue know that buying countless cups of coffee is his perfect excuse to see Tamara as often as possible.
Though Nate is usually glued to his computer and Tamara is happiest at the beach, they’re surprised to find that they have a great deal in common too –– they both agree that relationships are nothing but trouble. But despite vowing to remain friends, and nothing more, it’s as if Cupid is following them with his bow and arrow everywhere they go. When the heat between them can no longer be denied while dancing together at a wedding, they share a sizzling kiss. Will that one special kiss lead the computer geek and the sunny beach girl to a deeper love than either of them ever thought was possible?

This book was a very sweet and quick read. Bella Andre's writing is very easy to enjoy, capturing moments of tension and passion well.
Both characters were quite cute as they learned more about how they felt about the other person. And seeing the past couples also made this book exciting.
I've been enjoying this series as each of the characters find their happily-ever-after. In the end, they almost feel like one big family. I would definitely love to read more books in the future.
The Surprise Wedding is going to rock the Tech World. One of their elite is getting married and Married in Malibu is the perfect choice. The security is top notch. The food will be out of this world. The special touches will leave you smiling. They will create the perfect blend of Japanese and American cultures making for wedding perfection.
There is no one better than Nate of Married in Malibu to coordinate the live feed. Yes!! The live feed. It will be a small and intimate for the wedding party but the world gets to participate with just a click of the button. Access is very important for the couple almost as important as their coffee. They want a special blend for a special day.
Nate has the perfect solution. He recruits Kate to create a memorable blend. Nate now has an excuse to be around Kate more. Nate can now go and get more coffee. Will he finally approach her for more than coffee? Will he finally confess his feelings? If he does, what will skitish Kate do? Will she be willing to warm his coffee? Will she open her eyes and heart to what is right in front of her.

Nate and Tamara's story was the first book I have read in this series. I think it easily could be read as a stand-alone. I had no problem keeping up with the characters, or what was going on in the book. I can say that this book had a very different vibe to me than other books I have read by this author. She has many other books that I have enjoyed.
I found myself being more interested in the wedding preparations, the food, and the technical aspects than I was in the relationship. I also wasn't sure where the "surprise" wedding came into play.
This was an ok read for me. I truly wanted to like it more than I did. I liked Nate, but I didn't care much for Tamara. It seemed to me like she kept playing with Nate's feelings. I didn't think it was intentional, but I also didn't feel like she was taking Nate's feelings into account with her wishy washy behavior.
I understood she had past issues, but I didn't understand why her family situation made her think there was only one way to do things. I don't know if this would fall under a "new adult" category or not. This book made me feel like it may have been written for a young audience. Kissing Nate, running off the dance floor, and then ghosting him didn't seem like very adult behavior to me. I would recommend you read this book and form your own opinion.
Fun friends-to-lovers Bella Andre is a go-to author for me, and her Lucy Kevin titles are a delightful treat. These are light romance (definitely closed door) and easy to read (less than two hours). “The Surprise Wedding,” Book 5 of her Married in Malibu series was just what I was looking for in between suspense titles. Nate Waterson works at the wedding venue, and Tamara Truscott owns the coffee shop across the road. They’ve been friends for awhile and are surprised to find romance sparking. I enjoyed getting to know both Nate and Tamara, learning how their backgrounds affected their current views of love and lifetime commitment. The Grand Gesture that sealed the deal was wonderful and a bit of a surprise to me (can’t say anything else or will give too much away). Readers who don’t know anything about Married in Malibu (the fictional wedding venue or the series of books) will not be lost if they jump into Book 5. Still, I recommend going back to the beginning because the earlier books have so much detail about the wedding-planning business.
I have so enjoyed all of the Married In Malibu series. The stories center around a wedding venue near the beach in Malibu. This book centers around Nate, the IT geek for Married in Malibu, and Tamara, the barista and owner of the coffee shop across the street.
Tamara had a past relationship that did not work out and is really gun shy of getting close to any man. Her family believes in finding their one true love and Tamara thinks she's had her shot.
Nate has never found the one, and thinks that Tamara might be in the running. As they get closer and have to work together for an intimate local wedding for a tech giant, that will be broadcast worldwide via tech, Nate has his work cut out for him.
When Tamara gets tasked with finding the perfect coffee for the wedding, she and Nate must work very closely together, they both are wondering what is in store for them.
This was another one of those shortish, sweet, and well written books Bella Andre does when she writes as Lucy Kevin.
This wasn't a terrible book. It was a little hard to get into because it was the 5th book in the series. I had read the second one, but that was a while back so I didn't remember much. It starts off with all the couples from the previous books, plus the couple whose wedding they're planning, so it can be a little overwhelming. About a third into the book, you get more one on one time with Nate and Tamara where you do see that they have chemistry. I actually enjoyed their interactions with one another.
Personally, I'm not a fan of romances without spice in them, but that's just my preference. If you're a fan of that genre, I would recommend this book, especially if you've read the previous books in the series and want to know what the characters are up to. Also, the epilogue sets up the hero and heroine of the next book, so you have something to look forward to.
This is a sweet story. Nate worked as a tech expert at Married in Malibu. Across the street was the best coffee shop in town that Tamara owned and furnished Nate all the coffee he needed, which was quite a bit! I felt bad that Tamara felt she couldn’t find love again after what her ex did to her. She felt that her whole family found one true love and there could be no other. It was crazy as Nate’s family was the opposite and married all the time and then some even divorced, but they were all great friends. I felt bad as Nate was very attracted to Tamara, but she had told him how she felt about one true love. I loved watching the two get to really know each other as some things kept throwing them together. You need to read the book to see what happens.
A sweet, romantic story that started with friendship, a love of coffee, and the beach. Tamera owns the coffee shop across the street from the wedding venue Married in Malibu. Nate works as the computer and tech person behind the scenes at the venue. His love of coffee has him visiting the coffee shop several times a day, which led to Tamera and Nate meeting, sharing quick conversations, and becoming friends. An unexpected dance, that lead to a kiss between them changes how they feel about each other. Tamera agrees to attend Nate’s brother’s wedding with him posing as a couple. This leads to them actually falling for each other, but having some challenges about moving forward with a possible relationship.
Nate Waterson works at Married in Malibu, and Tamara Truscott owns the coffee shop across the road. They are good friends and are pleasantly surprised when sparks fly after they share a kiss. Tamara is a little skittish after a failed relation, but she still agrees to pretend to be his fake girlfriend at his brothers wedding, and this leads to them getting closer to each other. This was a fun read. Nate was a true geek and it was endearing how he was trying to get tips on navigating his relationship with Tamara, treating her with respect and giving her space. He was so patient with her 💕- totally swoon worthy. Can’t wait to read Kate’s HEA next.
The Surprise Wedding: Married in Malibu is the 5th book in the Married in Malibu series by Bella Andre (who writes this series as Lucy Kevin). This is a fun, sweet read that tells the story of Nate and Tamara. Nate is the sexy, IT geek at Malibu Weddings and Tamara runs the coffee shop next door. They are friends but could be more. Tamara has A LOT to work through and Nate has tremendous patience as she deals with all her past baggage. They eventually get to their HEA and it's an enjoyable read as they get there together.
When Married in Malibu’s next wedding brings an interesting challenge to broadcast around the world Nate is quick to step up to the challenge. Now add in broadcasting for a tech genius. The job got even harder. Then couple wants a special blend of coffee Nate knows who to ask.
After her kiss the other day with Nate, Tamara is unsure of what to do. She had her one love - Didn’t she?
Nate has his work cut out for him to show Tamara he wants forever. He just has to take his time and prove himself to her.
Such chemistry between these two. So happy they got their happy ending!
This was a sweet escape with wonderful characters. Nate is the sexy geek at Malibu Weddings, who gets to take the lead on their latest wedding but his real focus is on Tamara who runs the coffee shop next door. It's clear to everyone around them that they are perfect together but Tamara must first let go of a youthful betrayal. A weekend wedding and the ear of a caring friend, finally allows Tamara to let her walls crumble. A beautifully written love letter leads to a wonderful HEA.
I enjoyed reading about Nate and Tamara’s journey to their happy ever after, even though I had a hard time with Tamara going back and forth with her feelings about Nate. Nate had the patience to wait because he was sure of his feelings about Tamara. They both had reasons for their hesitation in forming a long lasting relationship. Will they be able to get over their own selves to finally get to their HEA?
I enjoyed this book. It’s the first one I’ve read in this series and it was easy to follow. I loved how Nate really fell for Tamara. But she’s had a bad relationship in the past and really felt like there’s only one true love. Did she miss her chance? It’s a really sweet book. He’s pretty patient with her and I’m glad they finally got their happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I recommend this book.
The Surprise Wedding is book 5 in the Married in Malibu series by Bella Andre writing as Lucy Kevin 4.5 stars
Up Next is tech guru, Nate and Tamara, owner/coffee guru. When at a friend’s wedding, they share a kiss that sets things in motion from friends to so much more…chemistry, family weddings, working together, letting go of the past and for both…finding that special “one”!
I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Another great story in the Married in Malibu series.
Nate and Tamara have been circling each other for years. Now is their story. A big client comes to Married in Malibu that needs lots of computer support. Now Nate is in the forefront of the wedding planning. Tamara becomes involved when the couple want a specialized coffee to go with the wedding events.
These two together have sparks that shoot off the page. I can't wait for Kate's story!!!!
What a cute sweet easy story! This book was so fun. I have read Bella Andre for years, but haven’t really read any of her Lucy Kevin stories. This was just a lovely friends to Lovers trope that was just perfect to read. Tamara owns the coffee store across the street from Married in Malibu where Nate works as the computer guy. All of the characters from Married in Malibu are fun to read, and as this is part of a series, each one gets the HEA. Enjoyable easy read.
It was such a joy to return to Malibu with this great group of characters. Tamara and Nate were so sweet together. Their chemistry was subtle and innocent and developed into something so beautiful. Both are very lovable characters and blend well with their friends and coworkers. Looks like there is another story coming with Kate and I absolutely can’t wait.❤️❤️
Wonderful and genuine love story. Nate is the computer whiz for Married in Malibu. Tamara runs her own coffee shop directly across from the venue. She and Nate have known each other for several months. They are best friends and support one another. Sadly she doesn’t seem to believe in life long love. The characters and storyline are excellent. I look forward to reading more books by Ms Andre.
Love is in the Air….. at Married at Malibu wedding planning. As new client hire Married at Malibu and ask for all talents on deck, Nate goes yo his brother’s wedding and makes history by televising other he see what Love is all about. Tamera is friends with Bate so as he travel to a wedding and produces another, see her love.
Nate and Tamara are at a party and kiss but then she will pull back. They work across the street from each other so see each other a lot but both have issues with love and marriage. When he will need to take someone to his brother's wedding he will ask her as his fake girlfriend but once there and they see how they are together can they each get past their issues
I absolutely adore the Married in Malibu books and I was so excited to see that Nate and Tamara finally got their book! It was swoonworthy and also very realistic about the pressures and restrictions we put on ourselves and how much life works out for the best when we go around what we presume to know.
Andre has a way with hearts. From endearing, humor to emotional romance, The Surprise Wedding makes a soulful impression. Nate and Tamara turn hauntingly sweet into irresistibly unforgettable. Beauty hides a yearning of spirit and a heartbreaking fire that refuses to be denied.
I loved this story. Nate and Tamera are so in tuned to each other. The work atmosphere is so good. Everyone loves each other and their jobs and are so helpful. Such a fun story.
This is such a sweet story. I’ve loved every one of the books in the series. Nate and Tamara are a great couple. Tamara has a lot to work through and Nate is a tech geek. It’s a beautiful story.
Nate and Tamara have worked across the street from each other for quite awhile and have become best friends but won't admit their feelings have grown to be more than that. Nate is the IT person for Married in Malibu and the company has just been handed a major job that will test his abilities. There is also a need for a specialized coffee that Tamara can provide so it gives Nate an excuse to hang around her even more. They have their ups and downs but finally realize they don't have to lose their friendship to become a couple. Their concerns are depicted so realistically, as was their path to their HEA. This has been a fun group to watch grow in their relationships and I look forward to the next book. Highly recommended.
