On a small rock in the Kuiper Belt, 1st Lieutenant Tammy Escobar, Sol Space Marines, walks into a war being fought by two alien races.
Waking up from what she was certain was a mortal wound, Tammy finds herself aboard an alien ship. The Fylak, the little gray men of UFO legends, had rescued her… but there was a problem. The Fylak couldn’t fix her critically wounded body, so they’d transferred her mind into a synthetic body.
Alone and on her way to an alien base in the Alpha Centauri System, Tammy discovers the only way to save mankind is to help the Fylaks fight the spider-like Drizzt. Leaning on her prior training, Tammy teaches her new body to fight like a Marine, while simultaneously hoping she can convince her new friends that Earth is worth saving.
With her allies vastly overwhelmed, though, will her skills make enough of a difference?
Reluctant Emissary is a Mil Scifi LitRPG story that will take Earth to the stars… whether we’re ready or not!
Since the Kindle App is being temperamental, my review is only going to be on here.
I really liked this book. Well, I liked the vast majority of the book. Without giving too much away, it reminded mea bit of one of the sub plots of Stargate SG 1, specifically with the introduction of Thor. At it's core, it is military Sci-Fi with a LitRPG framework. So, if you are a fan of Heinlein, Frisbee, and others like that, you will probably like this book.
There is one scene that just seemed to be out of place. It is a bit of a spicy scene. It's short, so it should not cause you any undo pain.
All in all, this is a very good book. It has a few rough edges, but those are few and far between (with the exception of the above scene.) I;m really looking forward to the next one.
Great start to a new LitRPG series. Mr. Hughes is a fantastic storyteller and has given us great world building, engaging characters, and an action-packed story to entertain us. It leans more on the storyline with a LitRPG framework. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoy Fred Hughes books and always look forwards to reading more. This one surprised me by crossing genres while still being mostly military sci-fi. Read the whole novel fairly rapidly and will read the follow on while keeping an open mind about the whole LitRPG genre.

Another alien Empire is trapped in an interstellar war they don't no how to fight and can't win. They turn to Earth who after thousands of years of fighting have mastered the art of war.
Although I am new to LitRPG, I quickly found myself immersed in this story. Those who play online games will totally get this. Fred Hughes has started what surely will be an amazing new series.
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
I read this book today. I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to reading the next book. You can't go wrong with giant spiders, Grey's, and space battles.
