Desperate to escape her family's oppressive cult, sheltered Wren flees the compound and begins a new life in a remote mountain town. But just as she starts to feel safe, she learns her family is searching for her. Terrified of being dragged back, she turns to the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides program, and within days, an intimidatingly large, muscle-bound alien warrior named Lorrd arrives to collect her. But can she find happiness with the stranger from another world, or is she about to trade one prison for another?
Lorrd is expected to claim a human female and procreate as quickly as possible, but he worries he's too battle-hardened to properly care for a mate. Then he meets Wren—beautiful, timid, and nothing like he expected—and an overwhelming instinct to protect her takes hold. Aware that his massive size frightens her, he tries to win her trust with patience and gentleness. But before they can leave Earth, danger strikes, and he must call upon his skills as a warrior to protect the one female he can't bear to lose.
Sue Mercury writes sci-fi romance. She lives in Maryland with her husband and children, where she hopes one day she'll turn on the television to find a breaking news report about sentient alien beings contacting Earth. She also writes romance of the much kinkier variety under the name Sue Lyndon.

Against The Cult As a last resort to escape from the cult her parents joined when she was young, Wren applied for the IDA to be mated with an alien. Lorrd didn’t feel ready to find a wife, but was persuaded by his war brothers to join them with the IDA to find a human mate on Earth. Trying to leave Earth together they found that they were thwarted by the leader of the cult, who wanted Wren for himself. Despite all the technical problems Lorrd manages to rescue Wren for their HEA. Sue Mercury meets all the expectations with writing this book in her series of the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides as part of the Intergalactic Dating Agency. Highly recommended. I loved this story by Sue Mercury. I couldn’t put it down. I was caught up in the story from the first page. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next between Wren and Lorrd. Wren had to overcome parts of her past to find her happiness with Lorrd.

She ran from control. He offered freedom and something more.
Wren's spent years trapped inside Harmony, a cult that stole her voice, her choices, and nearly her future. Escaping under cover of night, she plans to disappear for good. But when the outside world turns out to be just as dangerous, her only real shot at freedom comes from the stars... and from a Vaxxlian warrior who offers more than just safety.
Lorrd didn't plan on taking a mate, especially not on Earth, and definitely not a runaway with secrets in her eyes and a fire she doesn't even see in herself. He's a battle-scarred engineer, used to loss and war, but Wren flips something in him he thought was long gone. Protective doesn't even begin to cover it.
As they face off with past traumas, language barriers, and threats that refuse to stay buried, what starts as survival turns into something real. Wren finds her voice. Lorrd finds peace. And together, they build something solid from the wreckage they've both carried for too long.
Wren grows from cautious and controlled to brave and self-possessed, learning how to fight for her freedom and trust herself again. Lorrd opens up in ways he never thought possible, becoming not just her protector, but her partner. Their bond is slow, intense, and earned through honesty, respect, and the raw courage it takes to choose love after everything.
A steamy, alien-human, fated mates, mail order bride, sci-fi romance with a protective warrior, runaway heroine, cult escape, and forced proximity, filled with slow-burning trust, emotional healing, and a powerful shift in agency. It explores freedom from control, survival, cultural adaptation, and found family. At its core, it's about reclaiming your life, choosing love on your terms, and finding home in someone who truly sees you.
Book 8 in the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides series, and what a great addition it is!
Wren was forced to move to Harmony when her parents joined the cult. She has never bought into the Prophets teachings and is desperate to escape before her 20th birthday, when she will be forced to wed a man of her father’s choice. She plans carefully and manages to escape. But her plan falls apart when the train tracks are blown up, cutting her off from leaving the small town where she is hiding. When the older woman who has taken her in suggests applying to the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Brides agency, it seems like her only hope for freedom.
Lorrd is a war hardened warrior who is try to assimilate back into society. He is struggling and doesn’t feel he can take a bride until he manages to defeat his demons. But a meddling commander forces his hand and he is off to Earth to meet his bride.
Lorrd is surprised by his immediate attraction to Wren. He is determined to win her hand and not scare her. But just when they both agree to the mating, Lorrd’s ship is sabotaged, stranding them. He is frustrated but this also gives them time to bond. When it’s clear he was specifically targeted, he must figure out where the threat is coming from and protect Wren from danger.
An excellent book full of surprises and a few twists and turns!.

This is the eighth book in the Vaxxlian Mail Order Brides series. Each book is a standalone read. This is the story of Wren and Lorrd. Wren has grown up in an oppressive cult that her family believes in completely. She knows that on her next birthday the Prophet will give her away as a bride to someone of his choosing. Trying to escape is dangerous but a worse certain fate awaits her if she stays. So Wren breaks free in the middle of the night. Unfortunately the local war traps her in a nearby town. With the cult activelt trying to capture her and bring her back, she signs up to be a mail order bride. Lorrd is a veteran from the Vaxxlian/Irrcon war. He is suffering from PTSD and doesn't believe he can bond with a mate. Thankfully his best friends encourage him to apply for a bride. Wren and Lorrd are matched and he immediately heads to earth to pick up his bride. There is instant attraction between them upon meeting. Recognizing that she is inexperienced, Lorrd sets out to protect and comfort her. This is their story. The book is well written and easy to read. I liked that most of the story happened on earth in this book. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book in the series.

A much-awaited next book in series, great plot and characters other readers will love I have been so looking forward to the next book in the series and I have to say that I was not in any shape, way or form disappointed. The writing as always was inspired and the characters were simply wonderful; they are always so different and the reason for them needing brides are varied and this always proves to be wonderful reading as in this case. Wren and Lorrd and reading how they were brought together and all they have had to do to stay together and safe is quite the read, I guarantee that once you begin reading you will not put the book down until you reach the end and discover the outcome. It was also nice to have a sneak peek at future characters Balarr and Warrin who I cannot wait to read all about when the next book is released hopefully this will be sooner rather than later. It keeps us readers on our toes and planning and plotting in our heads what we expect the outcome to be for this future pairing… I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

I really enjoy the Vaxxlian stories. Lorrd is a veteran of the Vaxxlian/Irrcon war (a war that saw the destruction of the Vaxxlian home world, their females, and their children). With the loss of their females, they found that humans are genetically compatible and are capable of giving them children.
Lorrd has PTSD issues and doesn't know if he will be able to join with a mate. Wren is a escapee from a cult and will do anything to keep from getting brought back into it.
Upon meeting Wren, Lorrd discovers that he immediately has feelings for her and he sets out to ease her fears of his being just another controlling male (like those in the cult). His willingness to protect those close to Wren and Wren herself helps her feel more comfortable about her decision to join the Vaxxlian Mail Order Brides. Lorrd's actions through the story prove that he is a worthy male.
The story is good with enough meat and enough heat to keep your attention. The characters are not flat and I enjoyed the couple that owned the bakery. I look forward to more Vaxxlians finding their brides.
Wren wanted to be free. Being in a cult like Harmony was not life. She was able to escape but they were far behind. With the help of Emma and Myles they gave her a chance and an idea, join the Alien Mail Order Bride. Why not. Lorrd had no time for anyone but loneliness isn’t comforting. He isn’t sure if he should apply for a bride. When his friends come to tell him that they have been matched they make his mind up. Now they are all headed to Earth to collect their mates. But war is close to his mate. He needs to get her and leave quickly. Of course nothing is ever easy. They will not let her leave. Thank goodness Lorrd is tech savvy. The chemistry is there with these two when they first set eyes on each other. It is the cult that is the real problem. They all have money even though they tell their followers that money is the root of evil. But never let it be said that an alien will not protect his mate.

Lorrd is the eighth book in the Vaxxlian mail order brides series that finds its MFC Wren on the run after finally escaping the cult compound she’d been brought to by her family. But it is just her luck when she arrives in the nearest town there is no transportation out because of nearby insurgent fighting, leaving only one option left for escape before the cult finds and brings her back, becoming a Vaxxlian mail order bride. MMC Lorrd is a Vaxxlian warrior hardened from a war now over but his duty to his people still holds firm. He must mate and procreate. Fate has brought them together and will blossom into an entertaining sci-fi romance of drama, danger, action, emotion, spice, personal vulnerabilities, and captivating writing. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and this newest was yet another engaging read that ended in a well deserved HEA.

Well written, fast paced novella. Full of drama, intrigue, steam, suspense, cult, choices, emotions, fear, trauma, barriers and love. Wren is living on Earth in a cult where the leaders have control over her. On her next birthday, she would be made to marry some man not her choice. She plans to run and doesn't share them. After she leaves, she find a small town to hide in. Yet strange things happen and she needs to find another place to hide. Wren files to be a bride to an alien. Lorrd is a warrior and has secrets of his own. He needs to find someone who will be able to accept and help him. Both feel the pull to the other but each has trouble following them. Each will have to work together before they can reach their happily ever after. What's to happen in the next stories- does Balarr and Warrin get their own happily after after, can't wait to read them. Would recommend to others.

A sweet story. Lorrd left his planet with his friends to find a mate on Earth. He joins the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Bride program. He's not sure he can be what a mate needs and is willing to try. Wren has grown up in a cult and has escaped. She makes it to the next town over and is stuck. The town is closed due to the rebels and government fighting. She is terrified that the guards will find her and return her the the cult. A couple with no children take her in and encourage her to sign up for the Vaxxlian Alien Mail Order Bride Program. They believe that she will be safe with a Vaxxlian Warrior. Lorrd is assigned to her and she is afraid of him at first. He is very gentle with her and she agrees to leave with him. As they get ready to leave the planet, him ship is attacked with a virus. Who is stopping them from leaving Earth and why? A great sweet story.

Lorrd is trying to decide if he has the right to sign up for a bride. He's a warrior and suffers from PTSD. His two friends find to ask if he'll go to earth with them. They've been matched and talk him into signing the papers for a bride. Wren is trying to run from the cult her family dragged her to when she was a preteen. She makes it and winds up trapped in the small town not far from the cult compound. She signs up for the alien mail order . She and Lorrd meet and they are drawn to each other. The only draw back is the cult leader. Will Lorrd be able to keep his mate safe? Another fantastic story in this alien series.

Wren is one lucky woman, but she's had to make her own luck. Her parents joined a cult when she was a child and she has bravely escaped in the nick of time. She longs for freedom, which she attains by signing up as an alien mail order bride. Lorrd, a Vaxxlian, comes to Earth to collect Wren. He's not so sure he wants a wife, but definitely changes his mind once he meets Wren. I love how intelligent he is and how he'll do anything to protect her. I enjoyed the scenes with suspense and steam. I recommend this short story, as it was an entertaining page-turner. I'd really like to read the stories featuring Lorrd's two friends who also pick up mail order brides from Earth. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"No one will ever hurt you again. I will vanquish anyone who dares to try.”
Lorrd isn't exactly rushing to sign up for a mate, but his friends think now is the right time. If he can figure out what he has to offer someone, then maybe it is the right next step in his life?
Wren is ready to leave behind the life her parents have chosen. They might like their community, their culture -- their leader, but none of it is a fit for her. But is walking away enough when you don't have a destination?
This done in one book brings together two characters with good, genuine hearts. Through their actions they show the quality of their character, with each having more to offer than they realize.
I was gifted with a copy of Lorrd and chose to share my thoughts.

This was another engaging addition to the series and I was on the edge of my seat fretting that Wren wouldn't get her HEA. She escapes the cult and ends up signing up with IDA to try and get to true safety. Lorrd gets convinced to sign up for a bride, despite his issues with PTSD. Upon meeting Wren, he knows she's it for him but she needs healing and to find her strength and confidence again. Sadly, the cult doesn't want to let her go and makes things hard. Expect to get caught up in the drama, danger, emotions, suspense, intrigue and hot chemistry in this well written and exciting read. Good fun!
3.5 stars This was a pleasant quick read, but it could been more. Wren and Lorrd were very different, not just because he was an alien. Despite this, they manage to mesh. I enjoyed the patience Lorrd had with Wren. It would have been nice to have more of New Vaxx. And a description of Lorrd at the very beginning. There was some heat, but we never got to love. Also, what happened to Lorrd's doubts of being too battle hardened. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sue Mercury's Lorrd us a part of the Intergalactic Dating Agency series which i so enjoy. Wren escapes a cult whose leader is too interested in her. But skirmishes between earth's army and rebel prevents her from getting far and the cult comes after her. What's a young woman to do? Sign up to marry a 7 foot tall alien who will always choose you! Lord is a hunky golden retriever type mixed with warrior vibes. He'll do anything to protect Wren.

-A gripping alien romance where healing meets survival. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Wren flees a suffocating cult and finds freedom with Lorrd, a scarred warrior unsure he deserves a mate. Their slow-burn connection grows through trust, protection, and mutual courage.
Steamy, heartfelt, and full of danger, this story delivers love, hope, and a hard-won happily ever after. Great addition to a great series!
This story is mostly based on the interactions of Lorrd and Wren. Sweet and strong Wren is in hiding. Protective and caring Lorrd is also hiding behind his painful past. The story is well written and will draw the reader in. I enjoyed the all the hot erotic sexy scenes. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. This is the first book that I have read in this series and I hope that there will be more.
Part of Lorrd: Intergalactic Dating Agency series. I live for this series. If you love this genre this is a must-read. Wren, a human and Lorrd, an alien met and the plot follows their journey to a HEA. Can't wait for the next book.

I admire the FMC's courage for leaving the compound but I did not expect the trouble it would bring them. Good thing the MMC is ingenious and manages to save her.
