Trapped beneath the surface of Moltherra, Dr. Talia Voss doesn’t expect to survive the lava fissure that swallows her whole.
She definitely doesn’t expect to wake up wrapped in the arms of a molten-skinned warrior who growls like a volcano and swears she’s his mate.
Rhazkor is brutal, ancient, and burning from the inside out. Every breath he takes around her sparks a mating bond neither of them can deny—and the deeper they go into the lava tunnels, the hotter their desire burns.
But Moltherra isn’t just unstable—it’s awakening. And if Talia wants to survive the heat, she’ll have to surrender to the fire.
Fated mates. Molten heat. One burning bond that can’t be broken.
Claimed by the Lava Sentinel is a standalone steamy sci-fi romance featuring a scarred lava guardian, a stubborn human scientist, and explosive mating tension deep beneath the crust.
Claimed by the Lava Sentinel was my first book by Nova Sloane, and I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this molten adventure! The world building was surprisingly rich, and the descriptions made picturing Moltherra so fluid and beautiful that it felt like I was standing right beside rivers of glowing lava (minus the “oops, my foot melted” risk).
One of my favorite things? Both characters are strong and capable, and their growth never comes at the cost of their partnership. There’s no tedious “we can’t possibly love each other” tug-of-war — just a steady, fiery connection that builds with intensity rather than angst. Honestly, it was refreshing to watch a relationship develop without either character pretending they weren’t into it.
Now I’m curious to see where the rest of the series goes. If the future books keep serving unique worlds, powerful heroes, and well-matched heroines, I’ll definitely be scooping up more from this author. 🔥💞🌋
"Eight hundred years of existence, and nothing has prepared me for you."
A scorching-hot romance that grabs your from the start. I was impressed with how much story and feeling the author was able to pack into just 73 pages.
Rhazkor, the molten-skinned warrior, is immediately swoon-worthy. As a powerful, ancient guardian utterly and instantly devoted to his mate, his primal and protective nature is everything you could ever want in a MMC.
Talia is a smart and incredibly capable scientist who refuses to be a damsel in distress, making her the perfect match for her fiery mate. The connection between Talia and Rhazkor is pure, volcanic passion, and even though it’s insta-love, their bond feels completely real.
Perfect for anyone looking for quick and steamy, standalone sci-fi romance with an explosive hero, a capable heroine, and a fated love that burns with undeniable heat.
I look forward to seeing more from this author!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
'I was a scientist. I dealt in facts and evidence, not mystical guardians and awakening planets. But as I settled against the cavern wall to rest, I couldn't stop my eyes from searching the shadows, hoping for another glimpse of glowing eyes and flowing fire beneath dark skin. And deep in the molten heart of Moltherra, something pulsed in rhythm with my racing heart.'
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Talia and Rhazkor. She was smart and capable. He was protective as a Guardian, and kind, patient. I was completely drawn to him from the start. The chemistry between them was sizzling and I liked the way they connected.
'Soon, I promised myself. Soon I would have to make a choice between duty and desire, between the oath that had sustained me for centuries and the mate who could give my existence new meaning.'
This story was a fun journey and romance. This is the first book I've read by this author and I would read more. 5 stars
This book has perhaps the largest vocabulary I've run into in a sci-fi-monster-erotica. The scenery description of the lava tubes is like watching a CGI movie (if you have a brain that translates words into pictures; not everyone does). Beautiful words with insta-attraction-fated mates; age gap-he's the virgin story.
While reading this, I imagined reading this book with a loved/lover one, trading back and forth by the chapter POV switches and dialogue. There would be lots of laughs and then...hot times.
Satisfying as a erotica, nearly satisfying as a sci-fi.
Another short read in this new series by the author. Talia becomes trapped beneath the surface of the planet, finding -herself rescued by *the alien Rhazkor. He is an ancient being and 9becomes bound to Talia. A lovely quick steamy Sci Fi romance. :D I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Talia’s a scientist, rational and prepared for almost anything—except being swallowed by a lava fissure and waking up in the arms of a warrior with skin like flame and eyes that burn with possession. Rhazkor is primal, ancient, and fierce, but beneath the molten exterior is a protector who claims Talia not just with words, but with every glance, every growl, every desperate vow that she’s his.
The story is fast-paced and intoxicating, balancing the danger of an unstable, awakening world with the even more volatile pull of the mate bond. Every moment they’re together feels like standing too close to fire—you know it’s dangerous, but you can’t step away. What I loved most is how Talia’s strength matches Rhazkor’s intensity; she’s not just swept away, she chooses him, even knowing the risks.
Nova Sloane layers in just the right amount of world-building—the lava tunnels, the sense of an ancient power stirring—to make the romance feel epic, like their bond isn’t just fated, it’s forged in the heart of Moltherra itself. And when these two finally surrender to the heat? Let’s just say this book more than delivers on its molten promise.
If you love fated mates, elemental warriors, and a love story hot enough to set the pages on fire, Claimed by the Lava Sentinel will burn its way straight into your heart.
