Kinsley McIntyre's sex life has never been conventional. She's never shied away from talking about it either. Which is why she starts a vlog where she talks about all things sex. From self-love, to one-night stands and friends with benefits, Kinsley bares it all.
Kinsley and Adam have a unique friendship. They're Friends with Benefits, enjoying one another's company as much as others. Kinsley is certain there is nothing that could get in the way of their friendship, positive that they'll be there for one another no matter what.
When Kinsley meets Mickey, their one-night stand turns into something more, upsetting the delicate balance between her and Adam. As she navigates these relationships, she discovers it's far easier to talk about her sex life online than it is to face it head on. When the consequences of her actions come crashing down on her, she realizes too late that she's burned a lot of bridges.
Sabrina Voerman is a self-proclaimed "genre-slut" who writes whatever she feels like. She started her writing in dark fantasy, fairy tales, and horror, dipped her toes in short stories, and is now focusing on chick-lit, romance, a touch of comedy, and even some teen fiction. She hopes you laugh at her jokes.
She lives on Vancouver Island, with her three plants she never asked for but somehow inherited. Thankfully, they thrive on neglect.
This novel is a rare read that manages to be provocative and profoundly human at the same time. It's told through the lens of a sex vlog, offering a fresh perspective on self-discovery, empowerment, and the complexity of desire—all handled with nuance and sensitivity.
The main character Kinsley is epic! Strong-willed, fiercely self-assured, and so vividly written that I felt like I was sitting right beside her, nodding along to every insight and defiant declaration. Her voice is powerful—not just in the vlogs, but in every choice she makes, every boundary she pushes. Super refreshing!
What makes this book exceptional is how it tackles taboo subjects without flinching or sensationalizing. Instead, it invites you to reflect, question, and feel alongside the protagonist. The exploration of intimacy, identity, consent, and self-worth is layered and brave, refusing to simplify the messy, complicated nature of human sexuality.
The spicy scenes? They are excellent. Tastefully written but hot as hell, they enhance the emotional stakes rather than detract from them. This is not just a story about sex—it's about truth, agency, and the courage it takes to own both. It’s bold. It’s brilliant. And it's absolutely worth your time.
I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author! I'd love a second book to see where the characters end up?!
When Sabrina Voerman says “sex positive”, she means that the topic of sex has the floor, and the details and reality of what that entails has full-control of the mic.
I loved this story for its openness, as well as for its characters and all their complications, all their consequential endurances, and all the comedic relief they lent to a topic too-often made too-complex: Sex.
For the characters that were connected physically or the ones connected emotionally, I was fully invested in how each navigated obstacles, relationships, and just the trials of life itself.
It’s an honest and open take on a very realistic and explorable subject where the romance and air of optimism makes it so enjoyable, and such a fun and easy read.
To tell that an author enjoyed themselves whilst writing is one of the best tells that a reader is in for a treat whilst reading.
And you can certainly tell that the author enjoyed every bit of this one.
This book had my attention from the first pages! I was hooked!! The story moved along at a great pace, not too fast but not slow. It gave enough time to fall in love with the characters - which you do. The characters were well rounded and thought out. You feel like you really know them. The story is about to much more then just being sex positive, it’s about found family, growth and change, relationships and more. Highly recommend!
The 'A' word is written good and respectfully considering the topics it touches.
At it's core it isn't just a story about sex and learning about what that can mean for you, but it touches on friendship, struggling through life because everything and everyone seems to be ahead of you. It definitely has an educational part too. Whether you agree with topics such as abortions or not, this read handles it all respectfully and I can definitely see it being a story of support for people that go through the same, or eye-opening for those that don't know how they feel about it.
I 100% recommend to give this book a read. Kinsley is a really relatable character for me, even though we have a complete different view on the wanting children part. Yet, I relate to a lot to Kinsley in many ways and it really made me feel seen.

This book was everything I wanted and more. I WISH I had read this book in my late teens/early twenties. Does it have sex? Yes, yes it does. But you know what else it has? It has an FMC who asks herself, repeatedly, do I like this? Do I want this? How do I feel about this?
It’s female lead in the best ways. It’s a character who is herself and makes mistakes and learns from them. Who unapologetically says you know what, that might be for you but that isn’t for me.
This is a book I’ll be encouraging my two young girls to read when they come of age. I want them to get to know the ins and outs of sexuality in an unfiltered, safe, and positive way from the female perspective like this. Yes, that might be weird for some, but as Kinsley would say, sex doesn’t need to be some big scary stain. And the education surrounding it needs to change.
Lastly, those male characters, SWOON. Swoon x 5000.
I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed them, and was excited to try a different genre! Loved the conversations this book sparked for me and the overall themes and voice of the story spoke to deep values and important topics. All while being fun, engaging, funny, sweet, relatable, sexy, and real!
The first few chapters it took me a bit to find the rhythm, but after I got into it, it was hard to put this book down. Quickly becoming invested in Kinsley’s story, her experience, her vlog, her relationships, family dynamics, all of it! I liked reading all the complexities and aspects of this very human character and think she is really important - for many - to read and experience.
The topics in this book are also presented in the story in an informative, non-judgmental, inclusive, safe, and open way. 10/10 would recommend
Fantastic fast paced book that touched on subjects that need to be spoken about more in our society. The author crafted characters that were easy to relate to and the whole book had an underlying humour that had me laughing out loud. A lot happened in the 200 pages and I enjoyed them all, the sprinkling of spice was good and the love triangle kept me intrigued.
Beautiful story with so many important themes and conversations! Just the right about of heart, humour, and heat when we need each one. And an MMC who is a supportive green flag? Yes, please! Wonderful romcom debut for Sabrina—can’t wait to see what she writes next.
I really enjoyed reading this book! This book covers a lot of important topics which I think could really help readers in their own lives just like Kinsley helping her subscribers. I was rooting for Adam from the beginning and was happy with the ending!
