A Spot of Grace

Rate this book
Sometimes all love needs is a spot of grace to begin again…

Single dad Miles Coleman had zero interest in romance. Not since losing his wife years ago. So, when his hopeless romantic of a daughter posted dating ads for him, he quickly reminded her that he had no intention of ever remarrying. Until his lovely new neighbor showed up and flipped his entire world on its axis.

Being a divorced, single mom had never been on Annie Thompson’s bingo card. But here she was, starting fresh on San Juan Island with twin toddlers and an elderly mom to care for. Romance? It wasn’t even a blip on her radar. Until she met the handsome fireman down the street and started rethinking everything.

When mysterious threats against the fire department shake their small town, Miles and Annie are drawn together in an unexpected way. But if protecting the ones they love means risking it all, can they trust in second chances—and each other—when it matters most?

A Spot of Grace, a sweet, contemporary romantic women’s fiction novel, is the sixth and final book in the Spotted Cottage series. Grab your copy today and come home to San Juan Island one last time—where love, family, and a spot of grace are always waiting.

A Spot of Grace is a stunning conclusion to Ms. Addler's Spotted Cottage series. I love Miles and Annie, two single parents attracted to each other who are settling for friendship. Miles' daughter has his picture on a billboard advertising for a wife. Annie is dividing her time between being at home and in the field - never having enough time for either one. Why is someone threatening the fire department. I love catching up with some characters from previous books, but this works well as a stand alone book if you want it to. The characters, the town and the story have all Ms. Addler's expected warmth, humor, family and love!

A Spot Of Grace is a heart touching story of Annie, a young mother of two year old twins that had married her high school sweetheart, then after the babies he left her and moved back to the mainland.  She lost his big income and the divorce caused her to have to sell their home and move back in with her mother in a small two bedroom house where she had to share the bed with her mother.  She also had to stop going after her PhD that would have given her a better paying job.  Annie was a scientist on San Juan Island.  Roy and Annie had moved here while pregnant, but, that seemed like forever ago as the twins were not sleeping through the night and her mother had fallen and broke her hip and had to be in rehab.  That caused Leon to stop talking when she was gone.  Now that Annie and Roy was divorced and he moved back to the mainland Roy put the children exchange on Annie to have to wrestle the two children on the ferry to bring them to him.  On the ferry Annie seen the most handsome firefighter poster on an advertisement.  Who knew he lived four houses away from them?  But, when the island’s matchmakers gets behind Bella, Miles’ daughter in touch with Annie to be a mother’s helper so Bella can learn how to care for children as she was starting s babysitting service club she finds out when he shows up at her home.  Annie loved having the extra hands and explaining how to care for Leon and Noel.  Annie trusted Bella to care for them to go pick her Mom up to bring her home,  When Clara goes in the house and Leon sees her he speaks again.  Annie was in tears.

Miles and Bella started being part of the everyday life with Clara, Annie and the twins.  They were either at Clara’s home or at Miles’ home.  With Miles a widower, Annie was taken by his good looks and how concerned he had been with Annie and her family.  He told her he knew how hard it was to have a dad to leave the family as his Dad did that to them.  He had feelings for Annie even though he said he would not date or remarry while Bella was around.  So when Bella uses her knowledge she had learned at school to win the advertisement that Annie seen on the ferry and online Bella was being over ran with ads for dates with her Dad.  Bella was telling Miles about the ones that would make a good stepmom.  He was adamant that he would stay single.  Will Annie make Miles change his mind?  Or has he already found a girlfriend?

Annie Thompson is starting over! Newly divorced, twin toddlers and living with her mom was not in her life plan. She is trying to make the best of it, but she is struggling. She would love to have a partner, but she has barely enough time to eat much less date.

Miles Coleman is a fire fighter and a single dad. His life is about to be turned upside down when he hears about a billboard is advertising, he is looking for love. That is the last thing on his mind.

When Annie needs help, Miles is up for the task. What they don’t count on is that maybe they are just what each other has been looking for.

This is just the sweetest novel written by Amelia Addler. The characters are written so well, I got drawn into the story from the very beginning. There are some twists and turns, a little mystery and a second chance at love. All the makings of a fabulous ending to the Spotted Cottage series. My thanks to Amelia Addler for my advanced copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. A perfect spring read friends.

Miles’ wife died in childbirth, and he has been raising his daughter ever since. He has no interest in romance, but his daughter wants a step-mom and posts his firefighter picture in an ad. Annie has divorced her husband and is raising her twin toddlers and caring for her mother. Neither wants a romance, but they keep getting thrown together by their family and friends. I understand this is the last in the Spotted Cottage series.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.

I loved this sweet romance story. Both single parents are attracted to the other, but each thinks they are not enough. They settle for friendship until a near tragedy opens their eyes. I loved the slow buildup of their romance.

I also loved seeing old friends from the previous books in the series.
