Nothing like a murderous extinct animal to bring the family back together. Some good kills and a solid villain, Saber brings you a well written monster story.
Pros: + decent kills + great villain (although could have been utilized more) + decent enough characters
Cons: - act 2 was a touch slow, we get it the man hasn’t been home in a long time - it may have needed MORE, more saber and for sure more villainous company people
I enjoyed the read. It was a standard creature feature killing man story and well written. I just wanted more saber (but ain’t that always the case).

This book is very interesting and quite adventurous. The things that man will come up with to be the baddest, strongest soldiers out there. Is there nothing we won't do. Apparently not. The bad blood between the brothers isn't any surprise, pretty common. But family always come together in the end. Saber is a very good book that will surprise you. I love these stories and this one won't disappoint you.
Can you imagine saber tooth’s being produced by found dna? It’s sad to say that I wouldn’t be surprised if it is already being secretly done as they are currently trying to reproduce Tasmanian Tigers that they wiped out in Australia. The last 50 pages of this book had my heart racing as I read at midnight that I had to get up and make sure the doors were secure.
Excellent writing! The story moved at a quick pace. The action was continuous and did not lessen until the very end. I sense a sequel in the future. I hope so. I will definitely read other books by this author. He definitely knows how to write a heart pounding novel. He knows how to write this type of novel and keep it interesting.
Okay this book for me is a 4/5. A father is killed by a strange animal. His youngest estranged son comes back to town to see about the death and see his brother. More deaths happen. The animal is right out of history. The two brothers will have to put their differences aside to stop the threat. This is a nice quick read.
I liked this story. It had good characters and interesting relationships and dramas between them. It was a little superficial. Lots opportunity for deeper explanation about things in the past of the characters. And it ends with the possibility of a sequel.
The writing felt stiff and didn't really flow smoothly. The storyline was good, however I could not get into the writing style. A + for no spelling or grammar errors though.
Not a bad wild animal thriller. Sticks close to the troupes of genetically engineered animals run amok. With that said, It was well paced and entertaining. 3.5 stars
Overall, I liked the story. Good characters and plot. Parts were scary with a little espionage thrown in. I did find it predictable and guessed the ending. Set up for a second installment. I will read it.
The story is alright enough, but the amount of grammatical errors is really frustrating. I almost quit several times, and probably won't be reading anymore Jim Fender books.
This is a captivating and different kind of horror story. It pulls you in deeply and tells a very good story! Looking forward to what comes next from Jim!
