Fifteen-year-old Daniel wakes up in a strange, new world and assumes he’s landed in the middle of a video game. Quests? Yep! NPCs? Sort of. A mysterious system interface? Of course. Instead of being given a class like adventurer, wizard or thief, like he always wanted, he’s given an unexpected Caretaker of Blue Haven. It’s a quiet retirement village nestled in unclaimed territory between two kingdoms.

His job isn’t to slay beasts or go on epic adventures. It’s to assist the elderly village residents - each one a former legend in their own time. He wrongly assumes, however, that being caretaker means helping the people who can no longer take care of themselves. Caretaker has a different meaning in these parts. Instead of leveling or grinding, he gains skills by inheriting the villagers’ abilities – that is, if he can build a decent relationship with them.

As he helps to cook, work the land, and listen to stories that span centuries, Daniel finds himself growing in ways no dungeon could ever teach. The more he learns, the more he realizes that real strength doesn’t come from loot or levels - it comes from connection, legacy and a willingness to listen.

This cozy LitRPG is packed with heart, wit, and unexpected skills, XP is a genre blending adventure about learning what we gain and what we lose with each generation. This story will make you glad you came to visit Blue Haven.

Mostly peaceful

This book reminds me of playing Harvest Moon. The MC's stuck in town. Plenty of people to interact with. Almost an extended tutorial town. A but of cozy, a bit slice of life, I found it an enjoyable read and liked the action parts as well. Easy to read.
