A war fought in mud and blood. A timepiece that can stop it all... at a price.
1916, the Somme. Henri Dubois was once a master clockmaker in Amiens. Now he repairs the broken machinery of war. When a damaged pocket watch is brought to him, Henri discovers it can freeze time for one minute in exchange for a year of the user’s life.
Both sides want the watch for their own ends. In the hands of a man who understands the delicate balance of gears and consequences, it could save lives or change the course of the war entirely.
Henri must choose between repairing the device, destroying it, or finding a way to turn its terrible power toward something greater than victory.
Clockmaker of the Somme is part of the Tales of Wonder series, a collection of standalone stories exploring the strange, the wondrous, and the impossible.
