Dominion Hall #9

The Captain: A Billionaire Military Romance

I came back for the water, not for him.
Charleston was supposed to be temporary.
Do the work. Keep my head down. Leave.

Then Jacob Dane steps into my life.

Quiet. Controlled. Dangerous in a way that feels effortless.

When things go wrong, he’s there first. He doesn’t ask what I need. He tells me what will happen. Protection, whether I want it or not.

I tell myself to steer clear. Finish the job. Go.

But Jacob moves closer. Slow. Certain. Hands on my hips, voice in my ear, making promises no sane woman should believe and backing every one with action.

He doesn’t court. He claims.
He doesn’t negotiate. He decides.
He doesn’t swear I’m safe. He makes me feel it.

I know better than to want what can drown me.

I dive with my eyes open.

The Captain is a dark romance with obsessive, possessive themes. It’s the ninth in the Dominion Hall series but can be read as a standalone.

This book contains a morally gray antihero, explicit sexual content, and profanity. Recommended for 18+.

-----About the Dominion Hall

Seven men. One brotherhood.

Built in Charleston, South Carolina in the shadows of war and wealth, Dominion Hall isn’t just a mansion—it’s their fortress. Ruthless. Untouchable. Dangerous.

But even the strongest men fall… for the wrong woman.

Enemies will come.

Betrayal will burn.

And the men of Dominion Hall?

They’ll bury anyone who dares to touch what’s theirs.

Possessive. Jealous. Obsessive.

These billionaires don’t share. They claim.

For fans of dangerous love, anti-heroes who live by their own rules, and the women who bring them to their knees.

About the author

Jack Flynn

24 books55 followers
Jack Flynn co-writes dark billionaire military romance with Lainey Ray.

Jack is a former military man with a sharp mind, a devilish smirk, and a habit of taking control—in fiction and otherwise. He likes his books like he likes his combat strategies: fast-paced, explosive, and leaving no survivors. When he’s not crafting tactical missions and deadly antiheroes, you can find him reading action thrillers, watching war movies, or engaging in other kinds of action we won’t discuss here.

Jack brings the precision, the danger, and the raw intensity to every Jack & Lainey book. He knows exactly how to build a hero who commands a room, claims a woman, and takes down anyone who dares to stand in his way.

Rumor has it, Jack never loses control … unless Lainey’s involved.

The more I read Jack Flynn's and Lainey Ray's work, the more I captivated I become. Fabulous characters woven into interesting and diverse story lines that are filled with emotions, tension, suspense, action, danger and white hot romance. I think I've read book in one sitting!

Meet the newest Dane; Jacob. A MARSOC captain who carries a heavy emotional burden. Try as he might he can't seem to outrun or in his case outswim it and find peace. Dr. Camille Allard is one passionate woman, about her work with marine life. She's determined to save those who are harmed by human kind. A one-time hook-up leads to a partnership when Jacob is assigned as liaison between Camille, the US Navy and Dominion Hall. Keeping this strong willed woman from burning bridges and going for the nuclear option is no easy feat. Discovering the source that's damaging local sea life takes a surprising turn. In addition, Jacob finally finds the peace he's so desperately searched for in addition to the love of a truly courageous, committed woman.

The Captain delivers a strong, engaging continuation of the Dominion Hall Series. Jacob is a standout MMC — capable, intense, and layered — and Camille matches him with her own strength and spark. Their dynamic keeps the emotional core steady while the Vanguard mystery continues to unravel in intriguing ways.

The plot shines with its focus on marine‑life strandings and the eerie presence of a Russian drone-type submarine. The rescue of the beached dolphin and Kogia whale is written with such detail and care that you can practically feel the sand and surf. Jacob’s discovery of his connection to the Charleston Danes adds a meaningful emotional thread, especially his initial anger toward Caleb for keeping him in the dark, but then understanding.

A well‑balanced mix of action, mystery, and heartfelt moments — a strong Book 9 that keeps the series momentum going.

Fantastic

Another great read- another fascinating Dane Brother story. Jacob’s story didn’t disappoint. I immensely enjoyed it and Camille’s story. The depth and power of their feelings- but the connections they share with the ocean touched me immensely. I love powerful, touching story that grabs you. All of these so far have grabbed.

Respire

This was a challenging book. It was very technical yet one of the most romantic stories in the series. That’s the beauty of the series is that there’s so many diverse human experiences. I love the dynamics of the characters in this book said against the sea.
