Dominion Hall #14

The Shadow: A Dark Billionaire Military Romance

Rate this book
I’ve spent my life on the edges of other people’s love stories, stepping back before anyone notices me.
I’m quiet. Careful. Too gentle for the world I live in.
I believe in order. In roots. In things that grow when you tend them long enough.

I didn’t believe in men like Micah Dane.
He doesn’t charm.
He watches. He decides.
And once he does, he doesn’t waver.
Micah makes me feel seen in a way I never have before—not something delicate to admire, but something essential he intends to keep.
I tell myself I don’t belong in his life.
That a man like him couldn’t possibly want someone like me.
But Micah doesn’t agree.
And the closer I get to him, the more I realize this isn’t a story about being rescued.
It’s a story about being chosen.

-----About the Dominion Hall
Ruthless. Untouchable. Dangerous.

These billionaires don’t share. They claim.

About the author

Jack Flynn

20 books34 followers
Jack Flynn co-writes dark billionaire military romance with Lainey Ray.

Jack is a former military man with a sharp mind, a devilish smirk, and a habit of taking control—in fiction and otherwise. He likes his books like he likes his combat strategies: fast-paced, explosive, and leaving no survivors. When he’s not crafting tactical missions and deadly antiheroes, you can find him reading action thrillers, watching war movies, or engaging in other kinds of action we won’t discuss here.

Jack brings the precision, the danger, and the raw intensity to every Jack & Lainey book. He knows exactly how to build a hero who commands a room, claims a woman, and takes down anyone who dares to stand in his way.

Rumor has it, Jack never loses control … unless Lainey’s involved.

I don’t want the story to end

All 14 books in this series are the BEST ! I imagined a variety of endings, but not the one I got. Any time you read a book and the setting, the location is familiar, it’s just that much better - in this case I was connected to both places - the BEST

This is a review for the full Dominion Hall series...

The Dominion Hall series is a 14-book commitment that I absolutely recommend. I was hooked from book one, and despite a few lingering question marks (some early plot threads quietly disappear along the way), I finished the series feeling like I could immediately start again. These characters pulled me into their orbit in a way many long-form romance series aim for but don’t always achieve.

The first seven books focus on the Dane brothers from Charleston, each brother getting his own romance while remaining deeply woven into the larger narrative. Dominion Hall itself is more than a setting...it feels like a living entity, shaped by war, wealth, loyalty, and legacy. The brothers are ex-military billionaires who run a private security firm operating firmly in the moral grey. Raised by a father who later disappeared, and believing their mother vanished years earlier, the brothers inherit not just immense wealth but also powerful enemies who slowly emerge as the series unfolds.

By the end of the initial arc, major revelations reshape everything the brothers thought they knew about their family and their past. These discoveries are emotionally complex and set the stage for the second half of the series, which introduces the Montana Dane brothers - siblings from their father’s second family - each brought into the Dominion Hall world one by one.

I’ll be honest...when the second set of seven books began, I was sceptical. Fourteen books is a lot, and the risk of repetition was high. While some familiar beats do return, each story feels distinct enough to remain engaging. The couples have varied backgrounds and dynamics, and the overarching mystery, this time involving a new antagonist, keeps the tension alive across the series. The final book brings the larger conflict to a satisfying close, though the resolution does feel a little rushed in the final twenty percent. While the ending itself is emotionally rewarding, it also leaves just enough unanswered to make me wonder if this world isn’t quite finished yet.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this series. There are minor inconsistencies, but none that pulled me out of the story or lingered once I turned the page. The spice level is consistently high, well written, and, impressively, never feels repetitive across all fourteen books. I finished the final instalment less than a day ago and already feel the pull to reread from the beginning, which says everything.

If the authors choose to continue this series, I’ll absolutely be there for whatever comes next.

BEST SERIES EVER!!

One of the best well written series I have read. I just don’t want it to be over. I never wanted it to end. I loved each and every character. The writers did a phenomenal job. These books were so entertaining that on almost all of them, I read through the night to finish it and would start the next one, and eventually I just had to go to bed. They were so hard to put down and wait to pick up the next day, that’s how good this series is. I pray this series picks back up eventually with the Danes in Texas. Thank you authors, Bravo! I rate 10 out of 10.

Excellent Seriles

I stumbled on this series by accident and couldn’t be happier that I did. The Shadow is book 14 but do yourself a favor and read from book 1. The entire series is based on family and I was hooked from the start. I don’t do reviews usually but had to say how much I enjoyed all 14 books and now a new branch! I’m thrilled!!

The Shadow is the finale of the Dominion Hall, Montana Danes, series. Wow! What a ending. Ihave not had one minute of disappointment since starting the Dominion Hall series. Stellar characters, hot and steamy romance, strong family bonds, nefarious bad guys, intrigue, drama, dangercand suspense made each book absolutely riveting. Micah Dane is a man wh gets the j done and lives n the shadows. He's hardened hs heart against emtons and entanglements. So, how is it that when Joy McKinley literally stumbles into his life, bringing sweetnessm warmth and light, he becomes immediately infatuated. The tall, dark stoic steanger made her feel things like never before despite the negativity of their first encounter.
