I LOVED writing the adventure into this story. It was so cool to figure out what Max & Sydney's son might be like--the intensity without all the PTSD-borne anger and rage. That raw intensity is all JACOBS, and pairing Dillon with a just-as-driven woman was so fun!! Also ... yeah, there's a scene that made me sob. . .

RE-READ during the editorial phase and loved deepening the nuances of this story.

I really enjoyed this no spice Christian romantic suspense. It was not how I expected the conclusion of this trilogy to go, but it was new and different. Reading this book made me want to go and read the original series and then reread this trilogy.

As we’ve seen through the other books, Dillon is searching for his father. His father was declared dead years ago, but Dillon thinks it was a cover-up. He is on the run and has taken as many steps as possible to avoid breaking laws, but has still entered countries illegally, and the police do not take kindly to that.

Cove has been endeavoring to prove her father‘s innocence when things come to head. Dillon – Achilles – is searching for evidence against her father – the last one to see his father alive – when he saves her life. They go on the run together as they try to unravel the tangled web.

I enjoyed visiting multiple different locations in this book. It was fast-paced, and I could not put it down. I loved how this brought so many characters from this series and the previous one together, and I was definitely surprised by some of the twists and turns. I am super excited to read more from this author, and I will for sure be visiting the Discarded Heroes and their Scions again. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 2.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The plot of the story sounded interesting and I liked the first 2 chapters or so because it had action & suspense like what we see in the movies with Ethan Hunt from "Mission Impossible" or Jason Bourne of "Bourne Identity". But then that is where it ended because after these 2 chapters or so, it went downhill.

It is clear that English is not author's language because my goodness! this was SOOOO hard to read and understand what the characters were saying. I honestly do not understand why fictional romance writers these days don't use the tools Google gives them for free. For instance, Google Translate would have come along way to assist this author and make this reader less cranky.

Then we have the writing in itself that comes across high school level. And the characters? I never read an action/suspense trope of this caliber - and I don't mean it in a complimentary way. Typically tropes like this has an Alpha hero who saves the day (and heroine) - not the other way around. Plus they have MONEY people. They have a job and money but this one? NOPE. He was totally BROKE! Throughout the whole thing, he was scrouging off people for money to eat, sleeping in alleyways & roof tops, asking for money from friends, taking money from FMC, etc.. That is one huge turnoff in itself.

Then we have the FMC who is supposed to be this billionaire's heiress and ex-runway model constantly saving his bacon. Uhm... Isn't he supposed to be ex-military/seal/spy or something?

And let's not forget his nickname for FMC - "Gelato". Why the heck he calls her this name throughout this whole thing, I will never know because author never explains.

You know what else she doesn't explain? How they fell in love in 3 days when there isn't much of a kiss or any knowledge of who they are as individual people. No deep talks or anything. Not even make-out moments or sex. Basically all I got from this is that MMC who went on and on and on of how broke he was and was constantly gawking at anything fancy that FMC showed him (clothes, homes, boats, cars, etc) won the lottery ticket with her and a free ride in life forever. Good times - LOL..

And then we have the plot - or non-plot. So he is looking for his Father whom he was told died 3 years prior but he doesn't believe it as his Dad is some sort of spy or something. Her Dad gets kidnapped and he thinks her Father was instrumental in his Dad's so called death because he was the last to see him. So they partner up to find their Dad's and for her to clear up her Father's name and find the culprits who were right in front of her eyes and they didn't hide their misdeeds but we as readers are supposed to have amnesia about it - or maybe she does. whatever....

So while we have chapter after chapter with MMC looking for his Dad, FMC seems to have forgotten about hers and not in any hurry to find him because any other sane person would be crazy worried and trying to find him but not this one. Who knows, maybe FMC was written to have amnesia - or is it selective amnesia? She was more focused about being with MMC and helping him find HIS Dad then finding hers.

And the romantic moments? What a joke. They were absent here too & very weird and awkward, hence why I said teens wrote this thing and now I am done reviewing it. Bye.

Okay, this was a great conclusion to this series! I definitely did not expect all the twists and turns this story took me on!

Dillon is continuing to search for his father. He’s been pronounced dead for years, but Dillon believes he’s getting close to finding him when a run-in with Cove adds to an already risky life. Cove has her own plans as she works hard to prove her father is not who people are saying he is. She wants to clear her father’s name, Dillon wants to find his father alive, and together they will need to fight for their lives as well as the feelings growing between them because if they want a future, they’ll have to live to see it!

The chemistry between these two was an absolute favorite of mine. I was rooting for them all along, and I loved this conclusion. It totally had me curious about the previous series. My only complaint that pulled me out of the story, and cost it half a star, was the lingo. I found myself struggling at times with the lingo that Dillon would use that sort of dumbed down his intelligence at times. Words like whack, scaredy, freak, bullspit, and calling things fire constantly. It may just have been how his character was written, but it sort of seemed a bit immature given the nature of his role and abilities.

All in all, I gave this a 4.5 rounded to a 5 star read, which is amazing if you ask me!

I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.

4.5 rounded up to 5

What. a. ride! I’ve been so excited to read this story, and the action and wrapping up of Dillon’s story did not disappoint. From Cove and Achilles’ first meeting to the last page, I was hooked.

Cove’s desire to prove her father innocent, firm belief in him, and willingness to do whatever it took - no matter the cost or danger to herself - made it easy to connect with and root for her. The fear of being abandoned is really well done too. My one quibble is that Cove doesn’t really conquer that fear at all for the long term.

Ah, Dillon. Hot-tempered, determined, and adept at holding a grudge. But also protective, loyal, and willing to give up everything to rescue his father. Hi growth from needing to do everything alone, to accepting Cove’s help, to more was convicting for me.

And the ending. I got one of my wishes from one of the other books, and it made me so happy - though I would one-hundred percent love to have more of this story and these characters.

*Half star deduction because the faith threads were very slim in this story, and with themes of abandonment and doing things all on our own/it being all up to us, I would have expected much stronger ones. Also, in Atlas, where Mick overheard someone angling for the obliteration of Omen and/or the Nightshade crew, I expected there to be a connection between that and this final story and there wasn’t, as well as things in regards to Enzo not being wrapped up at all.

✨Book Review✨

“Calm, cool, collected façade abandoned, Dillon winked at the woman and muttered an apology, then bolted across Vendôme Square.”

The last book in the Discarded Heroes: Scions is here and it’s an action pack ending to the series.
Dillon Jacobs has popped up in the previous books in this series and he finally got his own book.

Dillon’s father is dead but he is refusing to believe that. It’s been two years since he has started the search and he is finally close to figuring out where is dad is. The key to finding his dad falls on Cove Galtieri and figuring out what her dad is up to.

Cove’s dad has been accused of a few things that have threaten to destroy the family legacy. She has made it her own personal mission to clear her father’s name. When her life is threaten she runs and crashes into Dillon. Forced to work together, helps them discover both that their quests actually overlap. In order to save both their fathers, they will have to trust each other.

Achilles was a great way to end the series. It was filled with action and some romance. I loved the relationship that Dillon and Cove build throughout the book. It was also nice to see what everyone else in the series is up to. This book was a quick read. I didnt want to put it down.

These thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks Sunrise Publishing for the arc.

Dillon Jacobs (Achilles) has never believed that his father is actually dead, and he aims to prove it. Cove Galtieri does not believe her father is corrupt. She also intends to prove his innocence. Two children, each on a dangerous journey to prove something about their fathers, end up working together, though their first meeting is not very cordial.

These two could not be more different in so many different ways, but it does not take long for each of them to have a grudging respect for the other.

The author takes you on a ride of international intrigue to places I only dream of visiting all while their lives are in danger almost every moment.

I know some do not believe in instant love, but I could see how being in constant danger and spending 24 hours a day together could stir up feelings especially as they each learned more about their respective histories. Both characters are strong willed and ready to do battle. Do not count Cove out because she is a super model heiress. This lady has nerves of steel.

This is another winner in the Discarded Hero series that kept me up way past my bedtime.

Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is a thrill ride from start to finish! If you love suspense stories where your hero and heroine are on the run while trying to solve a mystery- this book is going to shoot to the top of your favorites!

Dillon has been on the hunt for his father this whole series, but we’ve only had glimpses. Yup, his father that has been declared dead. But Dillon has never believed it- always knowing something else was going on. His pursuit of the truth puts him in the path of Cove- a beautiful heiress and former model with a sorta shady dad. Cove is smart and tough, and when chaos ensues and they are swept up in escape, she can’t help but trust this handsome stranger whose crazy story actually makes sense- especially if they can help each other… and maybe he makes her feel safe. And valuable.

I loved the pacing and the constant action and pursuit in this book. I haven’t read anything quite like it in a while and it swept me away. I liked both Dillon and Cove and I especially liked their interactions and the little ways that they built each other up. This series has been really fun and it wraps up nicely, though there are other Scions so maybe it will continue!

I am going to be so sad when this Scions series comes to an end. I have loved these books, these characters, and it makes it even more fun when characters from the earlier series make an occasional appearance.

This book is about Dillon and his search for his dad. Bits and pieces of this story had been given in an earlier book, and so it was not unfamiliar to me. I really enjoyed reading the entire story and seeing what had actually happened.

Dillon and Cove meet and quickly feel comfortable, even safe, around each other, (dare I say, it is almost love at first sight?!) but they have many obstacles to overcome, and are both on a hunt to find their father.

This story has lots of action. Twists, turns, unexpected events, and much more.

Fun to read, exciting, and just all around an excellent read!

The third and sadly the last of the Scion book series did not disappoint! Want fast paced excitement? Check! A hero and heroine that are both strong? Yep! International travel and high stake romance? Done!
Scion Dillon has been on a hunt to find his dad for 2 years. The dad he was told was dead. But he doesn't believe it. He has traveled, sneaking across international borders and sleeping on roof tops and he finally feels like he's getting close. But things are about to become even more complicated.
Clove will do whatever she needs to do to prove her dad is not who they say he is. That he is innocent. And now, somehow their two purposes seem to be overlapping...
This is a fast paced read that is true to a Ronie Kendig paramilitary book and I absolutely enjoyed it! The author has a way of giving such depth to her characters and that draws me in and hooks me into the story. I fully enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.

Y’all! Achilles was fantastic! It was one of my mostly highly anticipated reads of the year. I’ve been very eager to find out what was going on with Dillon and if his dad really was still alive. This book exceeded all of my very high expectations. It was a constant thrill ride from start to finish.

I really liked Dillon and Cove. They had amazing chemistry and made a great team. I enjoyed seeing them learn to trust each other while working together.

There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There were quite a few intense moments where I caught myself holding my breath. I didn’t know how they were going to get out of the predicaments they were in.

I loved this book so much and highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys heart-pounding romantic suspense. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to whatever Ronie Kendig writes next!

Where I missed the military feel in the action in the previous book, Achilles was forefront and center with that action and banter.

As the reader, I felt the turmoil within Achilles with his search for his father, but also feeling alone and tired during this journey. His desire for the truth kept him going even when he had all reason to give up.

Cove was strong - emotionally and headstrong in her drive to prove her father innocent. She provided Achilles with some breathing time at the moments where his journey would have consumed him.

Achilles learned that not everything is just as you assume and sometimes you need to take the time to consider the situation of other parties involved.

I loved every action and banter scene and felt that the author did a great job of penning all the emotions and fears of the characters throughout this story.

If you've been following along with this series you already know about Dillon Jacobs and his search for his missing father — and friend, the payoff is SO worth it.

Achilles by Ronie Kendig follows Dillon and Cove as their two separate missions collide in the most unexpected way — and suddenly they're racing across Italian vineyards, Greek islands, and the dangerous ports of Yemen trying to untangle a conspiracy that connects both of their fathers. Every ally could be an enemy. Every clue could be a trap. I genuinely felt like I was on the adventure with them.

Getting the conclusion to Dillon's story after watching his search unfold across the previous two books was so satisfying. His reunion with his dad after three years of chasing leads across continents? My heart. And Cove alongside him was just — yes. They were so good together.
Ronie Kendig has me wanting to go back and reread the originals AND hunt down the Scion parents' stories, which honestly says everything about how good this series is.

If you love fast paced adventure, international settings, and a clean Christian romance with zero spice — this series is for you. Pick it up!

Ronie Kendig's Achilles is devious, brilliantly written, and fantastic-ly plotted! I couldn't put it down.

It's the perfect mix of fast-paced action and tactical planning. Achilles has been searching for his father for years but has made little progress. Cove has been trying to prove her father innocent but hasn't yet found enough proof to pin the crimes on those she believes responsible. By working together, they stay alive - but even that isn't enough to find the answers they want. The twists and turns that Kendig throws at this pair make for a sizzling story!

I love when an author keeps me guessing, and Achilles has suspense in spades. Kendig is a master of military romantic suspense, so if hunky heroes on international missions are your jam, don't miss Achilles.

Two missing fathers, two very capable searchers and too much danger! Can they survive to find them and will they still be alive?

Dillion Jacobs, Achilles, has been looking for his dad for more than 3 years already. Officially he is listed a deceased, but Dillion is very sure that is not true. And the search goes on… Cove Galtieri, used to be a model but now works together with her father in his extensive business. A chance meeting, an apparent kidnapping and there are two fathers missing. Have they been working together and is one or the other corrupt? Time will tell as the story takes you from Paris to Greece, to Yemen and eventually Tanzania and the danger gets greater and the chance of survival grows dimmer.

An early copy of Discarded Heroes: Scions Book 3 was received through Sunrise Publishing and BookFunnel. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.

Achilles is the third book in the Scions series by Ronie Kendig, and it is not to be missed. This book can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing something. This is a spin-off series about the sons of discarded heroes. I personally have not read that series yet, but I look forward to going back and reading it.

Dillion/Achilles is searching for his father, who has been missing for years. When Dillion finds himself rescuing Cove, whose father seems to be connected to his father’s last appearance, his search seems to be headed in the right direction. While both are searching for their fathers, they work together to escape the people hunting them down and find where their fathers might be.  At times, I got a little lost in the story, but overall, this was a great romantic suspense series.

Hope does not disappoint.

That is what I learned from this novel.

Dillon goes through this novel with such incredible determination and hope. He barely ever falters, just keeps hoping against impossible odds that he will find his father alive. Talk about an incredible faith.

I loved everything about this book. The mystery, the danger, and not to mention, the chemistry between the two main characters.

I loved that Dillon and Cove come from two very different lives and circumstances, but the only way for them to succeed is by working together. Both of their knowledge and their skills sets everything comes in handy during this harrowing journey and seeing both of them gain someone who they can trust to go through life with...it was very special.

I really loved this trilogy from Ronie and I am convinced that I really need to go back and read the original series!

Just when I thought this series couldn’t get better, boy, did it! From the very first scene of the story, it was a nonstop thrill ride as Dillon and Cove ran for their lives while searching for the truth about their fathers. Their witty banter and obvious attraction were only eclipsed by the bravery, intelligence, and determination required to survive and expose the vicious criminals responsible for so much suffering and destruction. The clear, descriptive language used to portray each character, setting, and moment made me feel as if I was watching a movie on the big screen. I heartily enjoyed and appreciated the hard work and faith put into this book, and I can’t wait for the author’s next story!

Wow. I'm sad. And happy. For very different reasons. But why does it have to be over??? 😭 It is truly and epic conclusion to another epic Kendig series...but it's over... 😭 . It was so much fun to read about Dillon and Cove. They had quite the task, searching for both their missing fathers. I truly love how determined Dillon is to find out what really happened to Max, even when the government had already ruled him as deceased. I read most of this book in one sitting because it is just that good! As soon as I have more spare time, I will definitely be rereading this series!

This book is my favorite of the series! I loved that it just focused on a few main characters and their pursuit to find their dad's.

Achilles seemed like he could be a heel to many people but I loved his single minded focus on finding his dad. Gelato was such a great character. She didn't act like a spoiled rich kid but one who had tenacity and brains.

I enjoyed how the story progressed across the country as the main characters sought justice. There were many surprises throughout that kept me turning the pages.

Wow! Wow, wow, wow! This is the most intense book of the trilogy, and it caps off the Discarded Heroes legacy perfectly (I actually started crying on my flight. I didn’t want it to end!)

Dante “Achilles” Jacobs is one of the next generation of DH known as the Scions, and he’s by far the most troubled and most dangerous of the bunch.

He’s on a mission to find his dad, an original DH and their fearless leader. He doesn’t accept that the man he looks up to is dead. And he’s been hunting and searching for months going on years.

He finally has a solid-ish lead and breaks into a mansion owned by the last man to see his father alive. But he doesn’t bank on getting caught…

…until he does. By the man’s daughter. She has a mission of her own and it seems connected to his. Tragedy strikes and the two are on the run for their lives.

Let the chaos ensue! It’s high octane and thrilling and unpredictable and even heartwarming. I loved every page!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Very highly recommend!

This is a heart pounding thrill ride. Achilles, A K.A Dillion Jacobs had been searching for his father for three years. He never believed his Dad was dead. So he followed clues to try to find him.

Cove Galitieri is the daughter of the man who was last seen with Max Jacobs, Dillon's Dad. When she becomes a target of evil men, Achilles takes her with him to keep her safe.

What follows is a fast paced thriller that will either lead to their fathers or death.

This series, “Discarded Heroes: Scions,” is like the icing on the cake that was the first generation of “Discarded Heroes” [ series ]. Ronie Kendig, fantastic storyteller that she is, has exceeded my expectations for this second generation of heroic characters.
I really like the way these “Scions” each battle their own struggles with living up to the legends of the generation before them and managing to create legends out of their own adventures in the world.
Achilles seems to especially display the “driven” character trait that can be seen in all of the “Scions.” I think this book wraps up the series but I find myself wishing for the stories of the rest of the “Scions.”

Everyone told Dillon that his dad was dead but he refused to believe it and has been searching for two years, sneaking across international borders, homeless, running into fellow Scions and then disappearing on them. It's a high stakes adventure he is on. He meets Cove whose dad may or may not be involved in Max's disappearance, they end up working together, her to prove her dad isn't a bad guy and him to find Max. Full of action, suspense, adventure, faith, romance. You will not be disappointed.

A Fast-Paced Conspiracy Thriller with Strong Chemistry

A gripping international chase full of danger, secrets, and shifting loyalties. I really enjoyed how Dillon and Cove’s separate missions slowly intertwined into one larger conspiracy, especially as clues spread across Paris, Italy, and beyond. The action scenes were intense and cinematic, and the stakes felt consistently high. While a few plot turns felt a bit predictable, the tension and character dynamics kept me fully engaged throughout.

Great story, terrible ending

The book, like the first two, was great. Action, intrigue, plot twists. The ending, however, left much to be desired. So many questions were left unanswered. Just like the first two, there was no closure. Very aggravating to not know more, and this is the last of the series, so no answers will be coming. As much detail as was put into the rest of the story, why have a short epilogue with no details? Very disappointing. Makes me not want to get other books because I expect the same quick, undetailed ending.

Plan on taking a day or two off of life to sit down with this amazing, intense, action-packed book. Achilles by Ronnie Kendig is the 3rd book in the Discarded Heroes:Scions series.

Dillon Jacobs aka Achilles is determined to find his father, Max Jacobs, alive. For two years Dillon has followed every lead he can find relating to his father’s disappearance and presumed death.

Cove Galtieri has her own mission. She has been diligently trying to prove that her father is innocent of the corruption claims against him.

When their paths cross and their goals become intertwined the pair is thrown together in a high stakes adventure full of danger.

I really enjoyed both of these imperfect characters. Dillon is dealing with PTSD which interferes with some of his missions. Cove has major trust issues that I relate to. I liked the fact that both Dillon and Cove were loyal to their fathers and were determined not to give up on them.

I received an arc of this incredible book from the publisher. My opinions are my own.

A fantastic ending to the Discarded Heroes: Scions series! This was hands down my favorite adventure of the series!

*note- would highly recommend reading this series in order

I received an ARC from the publisher and all opinions are my own.
