It was an good Novella. It almost felt like a Princess and the Frog retelling, but it turns out he's a swamp person who was her childhood "imaginary friend" that wound up being real the whole time. She comes back to her childhood home on the bayou after a bad breakup and finds him lurking in the swamp near the home. I think it definitely had potential to be great. There could have been less description about how he's wet and dripping and more description about the romance itself. I appreciate the childhood friendship aspect. The whole "bad romance" part intrigued me, so i guess i cant be mad when it wasnt for me 🤣 this is book 98/100 and I read it via Kindle Unlimited.
Lila is on the run from an abusive marriage, considering they’ve been divorced for three months and he’s still after her. Returning to her old childhood home, she doesn’t expect to come face to face with her childhood imaginary friend who might not be so imaginary after all.
OMG RAFE!!! So basically, she grew up in a remote house in the bayou and her bestie was the creature from the black lagoon – aka a swamp person – and he’s been in love with her forever. If there’s a romance trope, you’ll find it in this novella. It was short and sweet and a little steamy, and I was all for the monster romance aspect as well as the cliche romance stuff as well. I loved the plot, the characters, and the overall vibes of this book and I will 100000% be reading the rest of the books in this series.
