“Whether it’s splatterpunk or historical horror, creature feature or borderline bizarro, Candace Nola brings it. Nola isn’t just a rising tide in the dark fiction genre; she’s the one controlling the water.” -Rebecca Rowland, Shirley Jackson Award-nominated author of Eminence Front.

“Candace Nola is one of the most masterful storytellers working in indie horror today. Her command of prose is both elevated and palatable, and her complex and unique storylines feel simultaneously original and universal. Each story resonates with even more confidence and precision than the last, and I’m constantly chomping at the bit for more.”—Megan Stockton, author of Lovely, Dark, and Deep

Violent Nights is a collection of short stories by Candace Nola, eight dark tales of terror, horror, and pain.

Included in the collection:

“Absence of Absolution: Part II” is the continuation of her story “Absence of Absolution,” which can be found on her blog at https://www.candacenolaauthor.com/pos....

“Skins” speaks to a woman’s (person’s, really) internal torment in a story both horrifying and moving.

“Ivy League” is an intense tale of enduring retribution that makes a statement regarding enduring pain.

“Rebirth” is a story written in deep and moving prose that speaks to the pain and power of mother nature.

“The Lost Diary” is a dark and horrifying speculative story of the lost colony of Roanoke.

“Nubs” is a chilling tale of curiosity turned obsession.

“Clownshoes” is a haunting and brutal tale of workplace abuse, mental anguish, and retribution, and includes poignant depictions of harassment and abusive behaviors that I felt in my gut.

“Music Box Dancer” is a dark and moving story of loss, pain, and retribution.

Fans of Candace Nola’s writing will love this collection. And if you aren’t familiar with her work, this is a great place to start.
