Horny: Sex Without Scruples

Rate this book
A brutally honest, darkly funny memoir about sex, power, modern hypocrisy—and the chaos of overstepping boundaries.

I owned massage parlors to finance my movie—the hustle, the fallout, and the hilarious moral panic around it run through this book.

In Horny: Sex Without Scruples, Brad Deep drags taboos into daylight—dating disasters, sugar-site absurdities, marriage myths, overstepping boundaries, and the billion-dollar shame machine that tells us what’s “moral.” With a stand-up comic’s timing and a journalist’s eye for scams, Deep skewers puritanical culture while owning his own messes. The result is a raw, candid ride that’s equal parts confession, social commentary, and laugh-out-loud roast.

It’s not some vague “general nonfiction.” It’s edgy social commentary with a raw, no-filter voice—perfect for readers who love The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck or Sex at Dawn.

Perfect for readers of irreverent memoir and humor/satire. Contains strong language and adult themes.

Launch pledge: I’m kicking $1 a copy to a registered nonprofit—name coming soon. Got a worthy cause? Pitch me.

Brad Deep writes books the way a rock band smashes guitars—loud, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore. His first two grenades, Horny: Sex Without Scruples (a #1 Best Seller in Free Satire and Memoirs) and God Mob: A Gritty Glance at the Travesty of Religion (a #1 Best Seller in Free Atheism and Agnosticism), set the tone: raw, satirical, and brutally honest.

Brad doesn’t write to comfort—he writes to provoke, to laugh, and to torch hypocrisy in all its forms. Whether he’s exposing the absurdity of sex or pulling the mask off religion, every book is a Molotov cocktail lobbed at the things we’re not supposed to talk about.

If you like your books safe, polite, and predictable, move along. If you want grit, satire, and unapologetic truth wrapped in stories that entertain as much as they sting—you’ve found your guy.

Follow me here on Goodreads for updates on new releases, behind-the-scenes chaos, and the occasional rant.

More books are on the way—unorthodox self-help and how-to like you’ve never seen—all coming soon.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Horny Sex Without Scruples. I requested it without even reading the description. What I found was a thought-provoking look at how desire, power, and control have shaped people’s careers and industries, especially before the Me Too movement created a shift in accountability.

The author explores the differences between how men and women are taught to think and develop as they grow up, and how those ingrained perspectives continue to influence our adult lives. It really highlights how much sex and power dynamics have played a role in shaping workplaces and culture.

I especially appreciated the author’s commitment to donating proceeds from the book, as well as the clear reminder that consent is what truly makes anything okay.

Overall, it’s an interesting exploration of the intersections of sex, power, and societal conditioning; one that makes you reflect on both the past and where we’re heading.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Review

Honesty is the first word that comes to mind when delving into this book. The author honestly speaks to the raw, often savage, and at times haunting nature of sex and how it impacts men. As someone who has had to witness female family members deal with men through the dating scene over the years, the author does capture the male psyche and their attitudes towards sex and relationships with brutal honesty. The author's writing style is both creative and savage in nature, characterized by crude, humorous, and visceral elements. It does an excellent job of conjuring powerful imagery as the reader is immersed in this philosophical and psychological exploration of the role sex plays in everyone’s lives.

Yet aside from those hilarious segways or savage take-downs, the author also does a remarkable job of delving into the social commentary aspect of this topic. With brutally honest stories from working a job in the sex industry, the author showcases the horrors and struggles many women, both in and out of the sex industry, must contend with. These stories lean into the author’s commentary on the importance of consent and how men and women are not only hardwired differently, but are taught at a young age far differently than they should be on how men should act and how women should be treated with respect. The need for boundaries and equality has never been more evident, and the author expertly weaves this theme into conversations around workplace behavior, relationships, and so much more.

The Verdict

Memorable, honest, and compelling, author Brad Deep’s “Horny: Sex Without Scruples” is a must-read nonfiction satire and humor book on sex, relationships, and human connection. Readers will be taken aback by the author’s savage take-down of alpha male behavior, and what this reader appreciates is the author’s commitment to donate partial proceeds to organizations supporting survivors of sexual assault. This worthy cause needs more honest and open discussion to end this violence.

I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting when I began reading this. I knew Deep's biting satire and hilarious metaphors would be there, thought maybe I'd find Deep patting himself on the back for his role in Gen X lad culture. And to some extent I did. But I also found an author seriously critical of the sex culture that has shaped him.

Beneath what appears, at times, to be the rantings of an ADHD speed addict reminiscing about his life, about what it means to be male in a pussy laden world, there's layers of truths, hints of anger, moments of disappointment, all served with a backbone of decency.

Deep is no saint. He admits that. According to him, men, author included, are the sex trades biggest consumers. They, as women since time immemorial have known, are ruled more by their dicks than their brains. He admits that too. So nothing new there. What is new is the depth of honesty.

Deep has dissected the male mentality and offered it up on a silver platter. He's taken his razor sharp tongue on a rampage through the social fabric, shredding the business of sex, ripping into famous names, lacerating predators, dissecting sex tourism. And don't worry he doesn't stop there.

Horny is candid, insightful, beyond interesting. Parts are comedy gold, others autobiographical, some a rant against a world where money can buy literally anything, where vice isn't allowed a voice and 'no' isn't part of the vocabulary. Wrapped in Deep's keen eye and sense of honour these parts always give equal weight to women - their repression, their abuse, their plight. He's savage and sensitive. He's the real deal.

Horny is a tour de force of sex and it's currency in our world. It's fast, it's funny, it's honest. It's a book to leave on your coffee table, a book that will fuel conversation and fire up debate. Most of all, it's a book that everyone needs to read.

I downloaded this book during a free promo on Amazon. If you’re going to read this book with pre-conceived ideas of what it should be, then I strongly suggest you don’t read it. Horny isn’t here to make you comfortable — it’s here to make you think, laugh, squirm, and maybe face a few uncomfortable truths about human desire.

I’ve read some of the reviews here — especially the 1-star ones. Both people admitted they didn’t finish the book, which is mind-boggling. How can anyone review a story they didn’t actually read?

One said it felt like a “free pass” for men to cheat. That’s not what this book is about at all. It doesn’t glorify bad behavior — it exposes the absurdity and excuses behind it. Another called it “boring” after a third, but ironically, that’s exactly when the book starts to rock — around the “Holy Matrimony” chapter. From that point on, it barely lets up, except maybe for two or three slower chapters. The rest are insanely sharp, honest, and addictive.

I’ll admit — there are parts I didn’t totally agree with. But that’s what made it worth reading. It’s raw, funny, fearless, and, above all, real. You don’t have to agree with every page to recognize when a book hits a nerve.

If you want safe and predictable, skip it. But if you want something that challenges your perspective and sticks with you long after, read Horny. Just make sure you finish it before you judge it.

Along with the copyright, dedication, and other content before the book actually begins is a notice that says the author will be donating a dollar from each copy of this book that is sold to an organization supporting survivors of sexual assault and adds that “if some men had an ounce of self-control, I wouldn’t have had to write this book.”

The author talks about some things you’re probably aware of and in some cases most of you have probably participated in them to some degree. If you’re enough of an adult to be reading this I doubt many won’t recognize themselves in the things discussed here at some point, regardless of your gender. Hopefully lots more your reaction will be “I didn’t realize that happened” or “I knew that kind of stuff went on, but I sure haven’t been involved in it.” Ultimately this book will get you thinking about a lot of things, maybe inspire those who need to do better to do so. But even if it doesn’t, it’s a fun read in spite of the deep subject. The author injects humor in lots of different ways. In fact, at one point the author says that if it “made you laugh, gasp, or squirm uncomfortably in public” that this was a good thing and the point of the book. It sure did for me. All three of those things at different times.

The title and cover of this book grabbed my attention immediately — and when I saw it was written by an ex–massage parlor owner, my curiosity skyrocketed. I had to know what kind of perspective this man could possibly bring to a book called Horny: Sex Without Scruples.

What I loved most were the author’s personal anecdotes, his sharp self-deprecating humor, and those unforgettable massage parlor stories — equal parts outrageous and hilarious. The storytelling is bold and unapologetic, yet surprisingly thoughtful in places.

The more serious chapters, especially the ones on boundaries and the Jeffrey Epstein saga, shed light on the darker side of human behavior — the kind of things most people hear whispers about but never actually confront. And I have to say, some of the chapter titles are pure gold. My favorite? The clergy chapter: “In God We Thrust.” That alone deserves a standing ovation.

This book isn’t for everyone. If you get offended easily or think relationships are all white picket fences and candlelit dinners, you’ll probably hate it. But if you can handle honesty served with equal parts sarcasm and truth, you’ll find Horny to be one hell of a read.

This book is not for the faint of heart—or the easily scandalized. Horny: Sex Without Scruples delivers exactly what the title promises: a no-filter, no-apologies deep dive into male desire, relationship dynamics, and the messy, hilarious truths about sex. While I didn’t agree with everything the author laid bare (and trust me, he bares a lot), I couldn’t stop reading. It’s funny, engaging, and surprisingly enlightening—a voyeuristic peek into the minds of men that somehow manages to be both outrageous and educational.

What I loved most? The raw, blunt honesty. There’s no sugarcoating here, just sharp takes and chaotic confessions that made me laugh, cringe, and occasionally nod in reluctant agreement. His perspective on sex within relationships is refreshingly unpolished, and whether you’re scandalized or intrigued, you’ll definitely learn something new. 😉

If you’re looking for a book that entertains while challenging your assumptions—and you don’t mind a little (okay, a lot of) explicit content—this one’s worth the ride.

I won a free eBook copy of this in a Goodreads giveaway. Here is my honest review.

This was an interesting as well as awkward reading experience. It was certainly well written and entertaining enough that I chuckled my way through it. Unfortunately, it also made me lose a little more faith in humanity, men, and dating in general.

Oh, well.

We can't have it all.

Some of the info in this was just 'common sense', but the narrator slipping his own personal stories and life in between the info really made this less info-dumpy and more the ongoing 'story' of a sex addict and what he'd learned while being one. It's worth reading for that alone, but also for the fact that the author promises to donate $1 to charity for every book sold.

If you're interested in a blunt, no-holes-barred look into the male psyche regarding sex and relationships from someone who's no saint themselves, this might be the book for you.

This book had me cringing, laughing, and howling — sometimes all at once — while wondering what the hell this world has come to. I loved how the author pulled back the curtain on how people cross boundaries in so many industries. The further you read, the more you realize how true it all is. The anecdotes are a wild roller-coaster of unbelievable, hilarious, and downright ridiculous situations — many of which include the author himself. He takes sharp jabs at everyone, especially men, but never lets himself off the hook either.

The first chapters are a little slower, but from the chapter Holy Matrimony, Batman, this book takes off and never slows down. The writing is punchy, quick, and never boring — every chapter keeps you hooked, waiting to see how each story unfolds or crashes into its next twist.

Overall, it’s a fantastic read. If you’re looking for something bold, uncomfortable, and totally against the grain, Horny is the book.

Raw, hilarious, and brutally honest
Horny is an absolute wild ride. The author’s real-life experiences are so unbelievable you’ll keep reminding yourself, “This actually happened.” The way he describes them feels like being front-row at a live comedy show—he self-mutilates his own ego, holding nothing back, and somehow keeps you laughing through the jaw-dropping moments.

But beneath the outrageous humor, Horny isn’t just shock value—it tackles serious, important topics like sex trafficking and personal boundaries with surprising depth. And those chapter titles? Completely over-the-top and insanely creative. I won’t divulge more—you need to experience them for yourself.

This is a must-read: fearless, brutally funny, and thought-provoking all at once.

This book showed up as an ingestion to read on KU. It got my curiosity so I went for it. Throughout the book it seemed like a free pass to justify that men cheat because it’s in their DNA and can’t possibly take their marriage vows seriously and honor being with one woman sexually their entire relationship. Owning a massage parlor that serves “extras” and taking your survey from those people will give you the only possible outcome of how men behave badly. I feel bad for all those who believe it’s inevitable that your man will cheat and it’s ok. I ended up skipping many parts and eventually DNF.

“Raw, hilarious, and uncomfortably true.”
Even though I didn’t agree with everything Brad Deep said, I have to admit—most of it was right on the money. His take on the way people behave when it comes to sex, ego, and honesty is brutally refreshing. There were parts that made me laugh out loud, others that made me stop and think, and a few that made me squirm—but that’s exactly what a good book should do. It’s messy, fearless, and way too real. Definitely worth the read if you’re tired of polite, watered-down takes on human nature. I didn’t know people could make so much money owning a massage parlor…

A realistic male's point of view of situations. The humorous stories are short all explained for each encountered shared with reasonable certainty of taboosand "what is" moments. I know there are two different versions of this book, and not sure which one i received. It was entertaining regardless. Funny and male brained. Good read.

Brad Deep writes like a man who’s seen too much and decided to tell the
truth anyway. Horny is brutal, funny, and strangely compassionate—an
unfiltered look at human behavior when the mask slips. It’s equal parts
philosophy and chaos, and somehow it all makes sense by the last page.
And $1 for victims of sexual abuse was the clincher!

Good thing I didn’t pay for this.

Only read maybe one third. Very boring. Sometimes I just get sucked into titles. I try to give some books a chance.

This book was a barrel of laughs and anyone who didn't like it, didn't get it. It's not for everyone, but the author warns people at the beginning of the book. Horny: Sex Without Scruples is gripping, hilarious, and brutally honest. His knack for self-mockery had me laughing out loud, and some chapter titles—“In God We Thrust”, “I’ve Sheen It All” and Sexstein & Matchwell: The Dynamic Screwo (this one had me howling)—are pure genius. Much of what he says about boundaries and human behavior rings painfully true, and his storytelling pulls you in from the first page.
I didn’t agree with every claim—particularly his “90% of men cheat” statistic. To me, it feels closer to 60–70%. But aside from that quibble, Deep is right on the money throughout. This book is worth the read.
