It’s been 15 years since Daisy Lorraine Alice's life was turned upside down.

Daisy grew up in a small town known as Red Cloud, Nebraska, with her father, Thomas Alice, her mother, Jean Alice, and her grandparents, Niko and Thelma Steppeck.

Everything was great until the middle of senior year when they got the news. Jean was sick, and the prognosis wasn’t what any family wanted to hear.

On Christmas Eve 2010, the Alice family lost a huge part of their life. Time stood still as everything slowly changed, and Daisy didn’t know what to do. She had promised her mother she would still go to her dream college and live the life she and Jean talked about.

In early Spring 2011, Daisy left Red Cloud, Nebraska, for a life of uncertainty, with nothing but her old pickup and her best friend at her side, but there was one person she wished she’d never have left: Caleb Brooks

Now, fifteen years later, Daisy and her best friend, Mabel Whitmore, are returning home to help her family with the farm. In the heart of the countryside, as old memories stir and new ones take root, Daisy may just rediscover who she is and open her heart to love once more.

"Some roots, no matter how tangled or neglected, will always find their way back to the soil where they began."

If you took a Hallmark movie, placed it in a little southern small town and called it a book, this is what the result would be! Caleb and Daisy's love story is sickeningly sweet and all the mushy gushy feelings you could ask for. On top of that you've got the heartwarming family ties to the farm and the land and the friendships and community.

Reading this was like getting a hug in a book form. 🫶

I may be a little biased, but I love Maisie and want hers and Miles story immediately! 🖤

Honeydew Vines by R. Paige is a beautiful reminder that love will always win.

This story shows how some roots grow so deep they can’t be pulled out, no matter how much time passes or how hard life gets. It gave me total Hallmark vibes and felt like the kind of love you long for after high school the “we didn’t have it easy, but we made it” kind. Even through separation, loss, and fear, the love never loses its electricity. This is the kind of love you fight for.

ARC review! First of all I’m so happy to have received a copy of this!
The cover of this book-LOVE
I’ve been on small town romance binge lately so I was so excited to dive in

I did enjoy reading this
However, it was very insta love which is not my favorite, I would’ve liked some tension or some yearning
They were together before I even hit 50% in the book

So basically, Daisy moves away after her mom passes, leaving behind Caleb. Comes back 15 years later & it’s like nothing happened
There is no drama whatsoever. Which I’m ok with, BUT I feel Caleb’s character did too much.
I wish Daisy would’ve put more effort in. I felt Caleb was the only one doing things….when she’s the one that left him.
Everything just seemed to fall right into place for Daisy when she came back and it just felt unrealistic
Which is fine, this is fiction. But again…I wish SHE would have brought Caleb cinnamon rolls instead 😂

I appreciated the short chapters and the paragraph format made it easier for me to read (kindle version)

Steak salad with fries IYKYK
I wonder if the author is from the east coast? 😂

I don't say this lightly—this book is amazing.
The kind of story that pulls you in quietly and then refuses to let go. I was hooked from the first pages and completely wrapped up in the emotions, the atmosphere, and the way the story just flows.
The characters feel real, messy, and beautifully written. Every moment hits with intention, and you can feel how much heart was poured into this book. It's emotional without being forced, powerful without being loud, and impossible to put down once you start.
Watching an indie author create something this strong, this moving, and this memorable makes me so incredibly proud. This story deserves to be talked about, shared, and loved hard.
You did that. And I'Il forever hype this book.

🌼I received an ARC of this book🌼

This book is as sweet as a spoonful of honey, and i loved every second of it!

The details given in Honeydew Vines are so wonderful at making you feel like you are right there along with the characters. From descriptions of smells to how things looked helped me get fully immersed into it all. This immersion then helped me feel the emotions in this book so much better. Which was absolutely wonderful because you need to feel the raw grief of these characters.

One of my favorite parts of the book was Daisy’s car talks with her mama. I think i loved this so much because this is something I’ve done in my own grief journey and that made it all feel more real to me. Another favorite for me was Caleb’s understanding of everything Daisy has been thru. He was so caring and loving it was wonderful to see. I also love a man who loves to take care of his woman!

All in All if you love Hallmark movie vibes I recommend you read this book! It will have you smiling and tearing up all in one.

🌼Some of my favorite quotes🌼

“Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is let someone share the heaviness we swore we had to hold alone.”

“She’s the rain that softens the soil, the sunrise that keeps me going after the longest of nights. She’s the honey that makes the bitter days sweet again.”

“I love you more than summer storms and porch swings.”
