I firmly believe love isn’t for me. Hell—just about everything that could go wrong in my life has. So, why should I give this man the time of day when all I’ve ever known is struggle and disappointment? He won’t be any different…
Social worker turned survivor Liberty Mays hasn’t exactly had the best luck with life. However, she’s trying to make the most of the one she has and is finally coming out of the mental fog she’s been in for the past year following a vicious attack that almost left her dead. With her job in jeopardy, she reluctantly agrees to an invitation-only event that has the means to change her life. Dipping her toe into being free, even for just one night, she finds herself caught between the desires of two best friends. One man is cunning, but the other is more daring, and makes Liberty realize that she harbors darker desires than she’d ever thought possible.
After a brutal betrayal I’d resigned myself to not believing in love, and to never trying again, until she walked into my life and made me realize that I didn’t just want her…I’m willing to kill my best friend over her.
Gideon Arison has spent the last six years of his life focused on nothing but work and mourning the death of his father and late wife. Plagued by the demons of the past, year after year he finds himself putting his duty to Arison Industries above all else to cope—that is, until Liberty walks into the room and flips his life upside down, bringing out a part of him that he didn’t even know existed. Obsessed, he becomes ruthless in his pursuit, single-mindedly focused on the only thing that gives him sleepless nights and turns him into someone he doesn’t recognize when he looks in the mirror.
Their relationship sharpens into something real, but there’s forces behind the scenes working to attack him at every which way. And soon, Gideon has some hard decisions that he’s going to have to make in order to fully step into his and Liberty’s new life. Will he let his demons stand in the way of his future? Will he let the grudges of the past continue to dictate his every move?
Mounted is a dark romancewith a morally gray male lead. Please check the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book as some themes may be disturbing to readers.

Oh how I love a broken man! Gideon knows he’s broken and hasn’t really given healing a chance, until Liberty.
Gideon took over a dying empire. His best friend from childhood has betrayed him over and over again. His wife and father are dead. His mother’s health is declining. But there is a spark of hope when he sees Liberty, and it all unravels from there.
Liberty is a lowly social worker just trying to make a difference in the world when she is attacked by a client’s estranged husband and almost dies. The homeless man she has befriended steps in to save her life, losing his in the process. Liberty can’t shake the past as she reluctantly returns to work along side Kristi, a co-worker who is quickly becoming a friend.
Kristi invites Liberty to an auction fund raiser hosted by Arison Industries to raise money for a children’s charity, and Liberty cannot say no. Liberty unknowingly signed herself up for a 6 month commitment to the highest bidder. She finds herself bought and paid for by Gideon’s friend, Dean. Only Gideon isn’t too happy about it. Gideon does whatever he can to take Liberty for himself, no matter the cost.
As time goes by, their relationship blooms but things are lurking underneath the surface.
I was captivated by the story line, the writing style, and the depth of the characters. I loved how the author just peels back the characters in layers throughout the book. It kept me engaged and made me feel the emotions of the characters more. I wanted to learn more about them as the book went on. I was very invested in the relationship dynamics between Gideon and Liberty.
The twists and turns in this book had me feeling like I was on a roller coaster. The spice was so good! The way that the author represents mental health issues is so amazing. I love how her characters grow and evolve on the page right in front of you.
If you like dom/sub, captor/captive, dark romance, then you must read this book!
S.K has done it again! As a long time fan of her work Mounted is yet another winner!! This book had me in a chokehold from page one. The FMC, Liberty (Libby) is strong, sharp, and refuses to break, which makes the power dynamic even more addictive. The MMC, Gideon (or sir if you’re feeling spicy 😉) is dark, obsessive, and completely unhinged in that morally gray way that will leave you breathless.
The chemistry is feral, the tension is razor-sharp, and the emotional push-and-pull is done so well it hurts (in the best way). This is not a story you casually read, it’s one you experience. Dark, messy, and impossible to put down. If you love high-tension dark romance with complex characters and a MMC who lives rent-free in your head, this one will definitely deliver. Who doesn’t love a little held against your will, I will burn the world and anyone who even thinks to look at you.
Highly recommended for all my girlies who love their romance dark! As always, your mental health matters so please make sure you read the trigger warnings and get ready for a wild ride with our wild filly and her master 🔥🔥🔥
What in the world did I just read! This book grabs you by your throat and doesn’t let go! I had to reread a lot of parts going food I just read that right!! With the 😈 he he’s omg moments! Well let me introduce you to them!
Liberty (FMC) goes thru a life changing thing as a social worker and is throw into depression and not trusting. Heart broken after what happened to her older friend mother she was trying to help get her kids back to her. She is a twin and lost her at 22 Lindsey. Then there is Gideon (MMC) who found his wife hooking up with someone else in his bed and right off the bat! She fell in the rabbit hole and 5 weeks later after Gideon filed for divorce she was found un a-lived! Going from married, betrayed, to widow all in a month talk about depression set in motion!
And this is just with in the first chapters buckle up babes you’re in for a ride!
This story will mend, break, cry and throw the book all in one chapter and S.K. Presley grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let you go in all of her books.
I am a sucker for a broken man and Gideon is shattered to his core. Burdened by a crumbling empire, betrayed by his closest friend, haunted by the deaths of his wife and father, and watching his mother slowly fade, he’s long since given up on healing that is until Liberty. A compassionate social worker barely surviving her own trauma after a brutal attack that nearly cost her life, Liberty is still reeling from the loss of the homeless man who saved her. When a charity auction ties her to a six-month arrangement with Gideon’s ruthless circle, she becomes the prize in a dangerous game and Gideon refuses to let her belong to anyone but him. What begins as possession ignites into something far more volatile as desire, control, and buried pain collide. Layer by layer, their defenses are stripped away in a story thick with tension, emotional depth, scorching chemistry, and twists that hit like a storm. Perfect for readers who crave dark romance laced with power, obsession, and hard-won redemption.
I liked the plot idea of this book, but the writing lacks maturity. The whole thing is just rushed and the FMC is weak and annoying, and her decisions and narrative just make no sense. I DNF at 20%, I just couldn’t get past the poor writing.
I really enjoyed the book a lot when it came to the storyline/ plot. only issue didn't love the trope of dom and sub situation I prefer when it's just in the bedroom and not all the time. but that's just a personal preference.
What an amazing example of the held capture dark romance trope!!!! I was half way through the 3rd book in a series I am very dedicated and addicted to when I started this, and I had planned to bounce between both books but this one held my attention fully and I never put it down to switch back! This book was an entire experience from beginning to end! Intense from the very first chapter until the last and so many feelings and moments throughout that just kept me in a chokehold the entire time.
I couldn't clock anything that was coming as I read through this story or anticipate any of the twists and turns I was navigating. We start with a heartbreaking discovery with our MMC, that just takes the wind out of you, before jumping right on the struggle bus with our FMC who goes through a horrifically traumatic situation that I was not ready for and grabbed me by the throat in the very opening! Leave it to S.K. to put you in your emotions right away and have you gasping by starting out with two life changing moments for both of our main characters, before we head into a billionaire auction situation that our main beauty Liberty thinks is just going to be a girls night out with a fellow colleague to ensure her job position, that takes a wild turn into a bathroom scene that you will be adding to your spice shelf to pull back out later I promise! This then leads us to an obsession and a battle over her claiming between Gideon, who is such a Boss of a daddy Dom, and his slimy best friend that just doesn't know how to stay in his lane even after past experiences that you would think would have humbled him, but definitely didn't. At all!! Leaving Liberty in quite the mess before she adds even more to her charcuterie board of men with a little visit to a local bar and tosses even more meat on her plate! Our girl is navigating so much between her trying to heal from such a trauma while also doing her best at placating her boss and proving she can have normal personal relationships.
Not long after that, we attend a rodeo girls' night out and let the true games begin!!! Liberty is thrust into trying to square up with the man who won her at the auction, while trying to deny the insane pull she has to Gideon who just keeps catching her, literally, in more than one tough situation, all before her romantic date with the "normal" guy she met at the bar the coming up weekend!
The moment she leaves the rodeo to try and negotiate the terms of her auction contract is the moment her world is flipped totally upside down when Gideon's business partner has more in mind than a simple charity wine and dine with our girl, leading her into a terrifying position in his private home that ends in out MMC barreling onto the scene to take true ownership of what he has decided is his. And that's Liberty. When I say this man is obsessed, I mean to the highest degree, and he is not taking any of his moves to get her lightly.
Once he gets his hands on her after she puts up a true fight, like running through the rain and woods getting chased down by this bear of a man, she realizes she has no chsnce at fighting him off before she's hog tied and tossed in his truck. This leads to probably one of the most erotic scenes that I've ever read when she has to go to the bathroom on the way to his house, and they have to pull over.... I'm never forgetting that scene. I loved that scene. It was the first look at how devoted of a Dom Gideon is to our girl, and it's barely scratching the surface. He is a care and feeding type of Dom and she has no idea what she is in for, but him helping her relieve herself on the side of his truck with her hands tied behind her was a wonderful beginning! That just hit different, and I liked it... A LOT!
This story continues in a battle of wills and obsession as our FMC deals with her first experiences with a true Dom and the plans he has for not just claiming her as his Sub but the claim he has on their future. And he has quite the future planned. This plot is true Stockholm goodness turned into real deep feelings with a captor who pulls out all the stops for the woman he wants and with absolutely no apologies and pure raw ownership. Meanwhile laying out a love story that you get so wrapped up in, you would happily volunteer yourself to be cuffed to the bed every night to wake up to what that mouth do, over and over and over!! The spice in this book between our mains starts right away, and you are shocked by the intensity of it, before you are slow burned for a good long time with lota of oral appreciation to keep you satisfied until our heavy climax comes crashing back into our dynamic. There is a scene in this book where she challenges him, and there is a couch involved where he proves to her why he's in charge and how he's a man of his word.... My lord!! The throat grab after the water bottle... the "Where do you think you are going?".... I was sweating!!! I read that line so many times!!
The story here is such a battle of strength, dominance, and the beauty of true submission in more areas than one, all wrapped up in glorious spice that never overwhelms the plot and I appreciate that so much. There is such a journey in learned trust and true devotion amongst so much trauma and healing on both sides. You heavily fall in love with the dynamic of the characters while also falling in love with them as individuals, which leads to cheering for them both in their own autonomy, healing, and taking back the power in their own happiness and futures.
This books conclusion had me gasping and tearing up! It was such a climactic conclusion with high drama, suspense, a huge shocking twist, and an unknown ending before it finally all wraps up in the most beautiful of ways. If you are a lover of capture romance and well-balanced spicy spice alongside a riveting plotline that will have you devoted and binge reading, this is the book for you!!!! I loved it!!
Hot Take: Way too fucking long. Fairly derivative. SO MANY ERRORS. Do my reviews contain errors? 100%. I am not publishing for mass consumption. If you are paying for an editor, you should get your money back. Random capitals, punctuation errors. At one point the Cats name was Zenos, but then switched to Xenos. Jaimie's name was spelled like that until, it was Jamie. Just really messy. Good spice, but I dunno. The whole story had a very MAGA vibe to it. I LOVE D/s dynamics, but this one didn't feel safe. That said, the book introduced me to the word Anhedonia, which means inability to feel pleasure. Which was cool. Main Characters: Liberty (34) and Gideon (47) Spice level: 4/5 1st kiss: 61% 1st actual sex scene: 15% Summary: No Kindle recap available. Liberty is a social worker and is stabbed while on a home visit. She is saved by Lenny, a homeless squatter who lives near by. The husband of her client stabs her, shoots his wife, and shoots Lenny. Liberty barely survives and is left with pretty debilitating PTSD. After about a year, she is still struggling at work. Her coworker brings her out to an auction where she meets and immediately sleeps with Gideon, CEO of the company that runs the auction. it is a beef company. In the same night, she is bought by Dean. Gideon was married, and walked in on his best friend and wife getting high and sleeping together. HIs wife over dosed a few weeks later. He kept Dean as his CFO because, spoiler warning, he is an addict because his dad (LENNY!), got Dean high for the first time. Fast froward to the auction, Dean buys Liberty. GIdeon is pissed, and basiucally kidnaps her back. She is abducted and treated to a pleasure Dom (lucky girl). Obvi she falls in love with her, he falls for her. Their 3rd act break up is him actually being honest and admitting he knew and wanted her from when she was in the hospital since he was there with his dad, who again is Lenny. He and Dean fight, Dean shoots Gideon, Liberty smashes Deans head in with a cast iron skillet. End of story. Ten years later they are married with 2 kids, and one more on the way.

Mounted by SK Presley is the kind of dark romance that sinks its claws into you and refuses to let go. From the very first page, the story pulls you into a world of obsession, trauma, and desire so intense it feels almost dangerous to read—and I mean that in the best way possible.
Liberty Mays is a powerhouse of a heroine. She’s broken but not weak, scarred yet still yearning, and watching her reclaim her body, her desires, and her voice after unimaginable trauma is both raw and empowering. Her journey feels painfully real, never rushed or sugarcoated, which makes every moment of growth hit that much harder.
And Gideon Arison? Absolute dark romance perfection. Morally gray, obsessive, ruthless, and unhinged in the most delicious way. His love isn’t soft or safe—it’s consuming, possessive, and terrifyingly devoted. The “touch her and die” energy is off the charts, and his internal battle between duty, grief, and obsession adds a depth that elevates him far beyond a typical dark MMC.
The tension between the two best friends is explosive. This love triangle isn’t just emotional—it’s volatile, brutal, and dripping with betrayal. Every interaction crackles with danger, and the stakes feel impossibly high. I was on edge the entire time, desperate to see how far Gideon would go and whether Liberty would survive the fallout.
SK Presley masterfully balances darkness with emotional depth, crafting a story that explores trauma, grief, and obsession without flinching. Mounted isn’t a comfort read—it’s an experience. It’s messy, intense, and unapologetically dark, and it will leave you thinking about these characters long after you turn the last page.
If you love morally gray men, obsessive romance, dangerous love triangles, and dark stories that push boundaries, this book is an absolute must-read. Just be sure to check the trigger warnings—this one goes hard.
Mounted by S.K. Presley Mounted is a dark, emotionally charged romance that leans hard into obsession, trauma, and morally gray desire—and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Liberty Mays is a compelling heroine from the very first page. A survivor of a brutal attack, she’s written with depth and vulnerability that feels raw without being overdone. Her struggle to reclaim control of her life, especially while standing on shaky ground professionally and emotionally, makes her journey feel earned. Watching Liberty step out of her mental fog and confront parts of herself she’s long buried is one of the strongest elements of the story. Gideon Arison is every bit the dark romance antihero readers expect—and then some. Consumed by grief, duty, and obsession, he’s not designed to be comfortable or safe. His fixation on Liberty is intense, unsettling at times, and undeniably gripping. Presley leans fully into his morally gray nature, exploring how love, possessiveness, and unresolved trauma blur into something dangerous yet addictive. The tension between Gideon, Liberty, and the looming presence of betrayal keeps the story moving at a relentless pace. The best-friends-to-enemies dynamic adds an extra layer of suspense, and the stakes feel personal as well as high-risk. There’s a constant sense that something is about to snap—and that edge keeps you turning pages. This is not a light romance. Mounted thrives in the shadows, tackling heavy themes and uncomfortable emotions with intention. Readers who enjoy dark romance with obsession, power struggles, and flawed characters will find plenty to sink their teeth into. Overall, Mounted is intense, provocative, and emotionally charged—a story about desire, survival, and the cost of giving your heart to someone who may destroy everything to keep it. Be sure to heed the trigger warnings, because this book does not pull its punches.
Wow!! Is all I can say. This book at me stressed out but in the BEST WAY!! The first night reading it, I was up way past my bedtime because I just couldn't put it down. Kept me guessing right up close to the end.
This book follows the story of poor social worker, Liberty Mays. She just has the biggest heart for her clients but, she can't seem to catch a break. Her house is falling apart but, with limited money, she has to pick and choose the items that can get fixed. And as if things can't get any worse, she is attacked while on a client visit and the sweet older man she has befriended while working is killed while trying to help her. Her only friend is her younger co-worker, Kristi.
MMC, Gideon Arison, lives a life of privilege but, that can't erase the years of heartbreak he has experienced. His wife and estranged father are dead. His lifelong best friend and business partner has betrayed him and his mother's health is failing.
When Liberty and Gideon meet at a charity auction, that Kristi has convinced her to attend, Gideon is immediately obsessed and is determined to have her, at any cost. Liberty, on the other hand, will try whatever she can to get away from Gideon.
This dark, captive romance had so many secrets and twists it kept me guessing right up towards the end of the book. The story was so inventive and original that I really just couldn't tell what would happen next! An absolutely morally grey MMC which, I tend to love because you always know that they are truly hiding a gooey heart underneath... that is just waiting for the right woman to pull it out.
I have had this author on my TBR for a while now and just haven't gotten around to reading her but, I'm most certainly going to dig into her list of books. Again, the story was just so intriguing and different. One of those books that I wanted to hurry up so I could find out what was going on but also wanted to slow down because I just didn't want it to end.
Mounted is extra spicy, emotionally charged, and way more layered than I expected going in. I’ll be honest…at first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the captor/abduction element. It’s one of those tropes that can easily miss the mark. But as the story unfolded, it became clear that for these characters, it worked. Not because it was pretty or comfortable, but because it was necessary for where they needed to end up. What really surprised me was how much mental health is woven into the story. It’s not treated as a side note or a convenient excuse for bad behavior. Instead, you feel it…through fear, obsession, grief, control, and vulnerability. You start to understand the characters, even when you don’t agree with them, and that emotional connection is what makes the darker elements hit harder. The MMC is peak morally gray, grumpy, damaged, obsessive, and driven by loyalty and loss in ways that blur every line. The FMC isn’t passive; she grows into herself through the chaos, and their dynamic feels less like one person overpowering the other and more like two broken people colliding and reshaping each other. They don’t fall in love gently… they fall together, jagged edges and all. And that plot twist? Absolutely rude. It hit right as I was finishing my lunch break and I was genuinely mad I had to wait to get home to keep reading. That kind of timing should be illegal 😅 If you like dark romance that’s spicy, uncomfortable at times, emotionally aware, and rooted in power struggles and complex loyalty, Mounted delivers. Just make sure you check the trigger warnings…this one doesn’t play it safe, and that’s exactly the point.
Mounted by S.K. Presley is an addictive, fast-paced read that pulled me in from the very first chapter and never let go. Presley does an incredible job building a world that feels vivid, immersive, and emotionally engaging. The storytelling flows effortlessly, making it easy to get lost in the characters and their journey.
One of the standout elements of this book is the character development. Each character feels layered and authentic, with strengths, flaws, and emotional depth that make them easy to connect with. The chemistry between characters is natural and compelling, and their relationships evolve in ways that keep the reader fully invested. Presley balances tension, emotion, and excitement beautifully, creating moments that are both thrilling and heartfelt.
The pacing is spot on—there’s always something happening to keep the story moving without feeling rushed. Action, emotion, and intrigue are woven together seamlessly, making it hard to put the book down. Presley’s writing style is engaging and descriptive without being overwhelming, allowing readers to visualize every scene while staying immersed in the plot.
Overall, Mounted is a fantastic read that delivers strong characters, engaging storytelling, and an exciting narrative. Fans of immersive fiction and character-driven stories will absolutely love this one. I’m so grateful to have received an ARC and cannot wait to see what S.K. Presley releases next. Highly recommend!
Absolutely in love with this book. It has everything. SK Presley knocked it out of the park yet again.
Gideon is absolutely amazing. I loved him from the very first prologue and all the way through to the end. He was broken by what his wife did behind his back and what he caught her doing. He didn’t try to heal himself at all and for six years he was content to be abstinent and leave it at that. But one fateful night he runs into the shy and unconfident Liberty. She had her reasons and after being almost murdered one could understand her not believing in love anymore.
I felt awful for Liberty and reading about her attack I physically recoiled imagining the description of feeling the blade more through her. I couldn’t imagine going through something so life changing and debilitating. Her developing PTSD and Depression because of it makes sense. There was only one person I could not stand and he was made to be that way.
They say you have to heal yourself to find love but sometimes you need a push from finding the right person to heal yourself. Sometimes you need someone to push out of your comfort zone especially when you’re afraid.
Gideon and Liberty provide this for each other and reading their story and all the character development that went in to making them feel tangible was the greatest. I honestly could reread this book over and over it’s that good.
If you are in to dark romance and captor/captive this is the book for you.

As a dark romance girly, I really enjoyed this book! I’ve never read one with this type of plot, which was absolutely refreshing. I was absolutely obsessed from the get to about 40%. From there I still really liked it, don’t get me wrong! But there were some things as it progressed that just maybe made me annoyed with the MCs. Like the FMC calling him “sir” which to me was like, wait why would he want her to call him sir if everyone else calls him that. Even as a submissive, I thought he’d have a better nickname…. And then some of the dialogue and things that were happening, I almost got confused. On how they perceived each other, their love, their dynamic. It sounds nit-picky but I’m a total mood reader and some random things spark me or disinterest me. Again all in all the book was good! The twist at the end was great and I didn’t see that coming. But it’s def worth a read if you like dark romance.
Gideon is perfection. He’s lived and lost but he hasn’t given up hope. Yes he gets a little feral when he see what he wants but he is also patient, emotionally intelligent and absolutely obsessed in a good way with Liberty.
Liberty has to overcome a dark time and he is just what she needs to allow her to heal. While healing him as well.
Their love is unique but exactly what they each need.
The twist? I saw it coming but was still taken aback. The plot stands toe to toe with the spice. It’s believable and in line with the story and I love that about this book.
S. K. Presley is not afraid to tackle hard things but she does it in such a respectful and empathetic way. I adore her writing and the way she develops characters. Can’t wait to see what she has for us next!

2.5 rounded up to 3 stars. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I actually read this back in early January but it took me forever to get through it and I've truly struggled with the rating and review of it. I'm going to keep this short and to the point. After reviewing my notes on this one...I personally just don't think it was for me. I didn't vibe or connect with the characters or the writing itself. I love a good BDSM story, however, I like for it to stick to the bedroom only. That said I did like the mental health rep that was woven in and I feel it was a decent plot twist. For me personally if I have to reference my notes in my reading journal that I took while reading it, it's usually not one I overall enjoyed. I'd say still give a go! It may be for you!
wow, as I started reading this I was pulled into the world instantly. I loved the FMC she has been through a lot. She meets her prince, though he's not a nice guy and kidnaps her. He holds her captive in his home. She is forced to give up everything she has ever known in her life, at this point that's wonderful. Now the MMC not a fan I'm all about dom/sub but making her sleep in handcuffs really not a fan. He aggravated me through most of the book. Once I received more of his backstory I really started to like him. I loved his friends, well most of them. This makes you feel emotions. The twist at the end was not something I ever saw coming. I really want to read more of the side characters stories. It is really hard to keep this spoiler free, but I think I succeeded.
Wow what a beautifully fucked up story! This is the second book I have read of the author’s and she has an uncanny ability to piece words together to create a captivating tale. This was unlike anything I’ve read before and I was immediately enthralled to find out what was happening next we had some twists and turns in this one. Gideon is a god where do I get one of him? I loved him so much as flawed as he was. Kristi not so much same for Dean. Liberty came into her own by the end of the story it was wild how everything kinda looped together there at the end. The spice was perfection the roles of their dom sub relationship and how they flourished were perfection. Highly recommend.
And she did it again.. this book is ❤️🔥 and some! I was unable to put it down.. so I had the assisted reader‘s mechanical voice read it to me on my drives.. just to be able to keep on reading. I fell in love with Libby‘s character in an instant. She is such a good hearted and kind woman that has been done so much wrong to. All the way throughout the book I was so worried for her heart and soul.. And then there is Gideon.. wrong in all the right places and equipped with way to much money and way to much hurt and pain from his past. And then he meets Libby! This book is beautiful ❤️🔥and painful💀 and ohhhh so spiceeeyyy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I can only recommend!!
I absolutely loved this book it’s dark , spicy, captivating and the more I read the more it just pulled me in. If your looking for good spicy scans sk definitely does the job. Lib went through trauma.shes a survivor of a brutal attack and struggles to reclaim control of her life.liberty has to step out of her comfort zone and out of her mental fog shows just how strong of a FMC she is. The tension between these two n the constant looming presence of betrayal keeps the story going and pulls you in even more !
This dark romance jumps right into the action as both MCs have had traumatic pasts, showing us why they are the way they are right from the start.
While Liberty's past has left her reserved with high walls, she's still fiesty and loves to push back. Gideon's powerful lifestyle has him used to getting what he wants, so meeting Lib awakens his obsessive and possessive traits and, although their lives couldn't be more different, they are delicious together.
This standalone has twists that left my jaw on the floor and is perfect for readers who love a captor/captive story with dom/sub dynamics.
Another brilliant story from S.K. Presley that left me surprised and amazed by the end. I thought I had an idea of where it was going but I was definitely in for a shock before it was over. Mental health issues are handled expertly and the power dynamics were clearly well thought out and played out so well. Definitely check your trigger warnings, but for dark romance lovers like me, this is a must read!
What a fun book! S.K. Presley caught my attention first with In You, so when I was able to get my hands on an ARC for Mounted, I knew it would be worth checking out!
I don't read a lot of captive romance, so this was a great intro into the subgenre. I can definitely say that SKP has a way with spicy scenes. There were a few where I glanced around the room to make sure no one was peeping into the raunchy and delightful scenes. Highly recommend!
“I’m exactly where I belong. I laugh joyfully. You’re damn straight, woman. You’re damn straight.”
SK Presley… you have done it again. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more with every turn of the page. This book shows how hard it is sometimes to walk away from friendships and relationships even if they’re life long. However it also shows how the right person can change your life entirely without you even realizing it. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and I cannot wait for others to get read this book as well.

Five stars because this book absolutely ruined my sleep schedule. The writing is wildly unputdownable, “just one more chapter” is a lie I told myself all night. Please, for the love of your mental health, check the trigger warnings before going in. It gets heavy, it gets intense, and it does not ask permission. Spicy, emotional, and completely gripping. I loved it. Would I emotionally recover? Debatable. Would I read it again? Immediately.
If you love dark romance, morally gray dominant MMCs, and an FMC who discovers the kind of love she never knew she was missing, this steamy captive romance is impossible to put down. SK has a gift for crafting multilayered yet deeply relatable characters, delivering romance that will make you blush and kick your feet, and weaving a story that lingers long after the final page. Mind the triggers, and make sure Mounted finds its way onto your TBR! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I could tell right out of the gate that I was going to be hooked by this book! I am so in love with Presley’s writing, I feel like I need to tell my husband about us 🫣
This book was equally as erotic as it was emotionally challenging. I love a morally grey MMC driven by his possessive obsession to kidnap, and I separately love kinky Dom & sub play, the latter of which requires a level of trust that you can’t get by just taking it. Though these tropes don’t fit together by definition, I think the imbalance adds to the conflict of the story rather than being a flaw behind it, much like the idea of wanting your cake and eating it too.
Mounted is a dark romance with the stalker, enemies-to-lovers, billionaire vibe everyone is craving. The FMC is a woman who is headstrong but suffering from her past when she meets the stunning MMC. A botched auction, a deceitful best friend, and many trials and errors do they have the HEA….highly recommend this book the characters have depth along with the plot.
