You knocked this one out of the park!

Wow.

What can I say? I bloody loved it!
Although it took a direction I wasn't completely expecting, I can't deny that this book kept me hooked.
From the characters, the relationships, the absolutely crazy kills and suspense, it was truly easy to just fly through.
Alan really said "F**k everyone" because NO ONE is safe in this book. Just saying.
I am very excited to be able to come back to this series when Killer Vocals 3 is released.

Killer Vocals 2 has a mix of characters from both Killer Vocals and Namaste Slasher. I think this book does a great job of tying up the stories and the loose ends. I loved the first book and wasn't sure that this one would be able to live up to my expectations. I honestly think I enjoyed book 2 even more, although the ending did leave me with some questions.

I feel like there's more to come... I really hope there is.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

*ARC REVIEW*
The survivors from the first book now find themselves underground, where they continue their challenges, hoping not to be the one eliminated. This time, they are joined by other survivors, girls who have been there a lot longer than they have. Together, they decide they need to make a plan to escape. But can they do it?

This takes place straight after book one, when Themis and Juli enter the elevator. Once again, Mr Shivers has proven just why he is the slasher king. The deaths were brutal, the tension was high, and it leaves us wondering just how these girls are going to get out of this. It was left on yet another cliffhanger, so I'm now in desperate need of the third book.

Note: Before reading this, make sure you read The Namaste Slasher and then Killer Vocals 1, otherwise you will not have any clue what is going on.

Well this definitely went into a direction I was not expecting. Enjoyed the saw-esque challenges but the ending again felt very abrupt.

Expecting third part to come at some point and complete the story.

The survivors of the first book are taken deep into the bowels of a twisted dystopian world beneath our own as the singing competition heats up and the stakes are raised even higher.

The mythology is expanded and becomes truly international and twisted. The trials are bloodthirsty, the chase scenes intense, the friendships tested to breaking, and all the while they are pursued, stalked and tormented by the relentless threat of sudden death. A macabre game of chess where the contestants are moved around, manipulated, terrified and trapped playing the game to survive.

If you have read the previous book and the prequel standalone The Namaste Slasher there are such juicy Easter eggs here that show the interlinking mythologies and the long game being played across countries and time. This is unlike any slasher you have read, taking the genre to a place of legend but still with those delicious chase and slasher scenes we all love. There are gorgeous homages to The Shining and even a surreal Bridgerton vibe in one scene, it’s such fun spotting them.

The kills are incredible and bloodthirsty, the cat and mouse games horrifying, the sense of entrapment and paranoia amongst the victims is claustrophobic and the chance of survival for any of them seemingly impossible. Cannot wait for the final book!

I’ve been a fan of Alan Shivers since his first book Europea Halls and have been privileged to be part of the early reading round. He has a talent for luring us in only to impact us with unique kills or scenes that will hit you with emotion. Sometimes it’s sadness when a character dies or other times you can’t help but admire the kill he comes up with. You get invest in his stories in a way that sticks with you after the book is done.
Killer Vocals 2 does that again picking up right after KV1,so read that first, you won’t be disappointed.
That being said it’s like a reality show from hell that offers a prize at the end. As events play out(cautiously trying not to add anything for fear of spoilers) the contestants start, well not make the cut so to speak. The way it unravels gives even more depth to KV 1 and the back story…
Alan Shivers gets stronger with each new work and now even a tv show is coming . This is an author to enjoy as he is on his way to becoming a dominant force in the slasher/horror genre and I can’t wait to dive into his next work.

This sequel to Killer Vocals was a very good, wild ride!

The survivors from the first book find themselves continuing on a journey of survival where no one is safe.

The author does such a great job of writing characters that you become so invested in them and their outcomes. This book kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat- I flew through it within a day!

I also really loved seeing the overlap with characters from The Namaste Slasher too.

And of course in normal Alan Shivers fashion- the book ends on a big cliffhanger making you anxiously waiting for the next book in the series!

You do need to read Killer Vocals first or you will be lost in this one. Reading the prequel The Namaste Slasher first isn’t totally required, but it will allow you to appreciate some of the overlap. All books are very good, so I recommend checking all three out if you enjoy 90s slasher movie vibes!

Thank you @alanshiversauthor for the #gifted e-ARC!🫶🏼

This book was a wild and an intense ride.
Nobody is safe.
I highly recommend reading the entire series starting with the prequel The namaste slasher.
I cannot wait to read the third book.

Thank you Alan for this early copy of Killer Vocals 2! I've read it with much joy and goosebumps.

Absolute banger of a book once again. Alan has a way of his words when it comes to creativity. He knows how to describe a twisted scene with much gore and passion. There always was an element of surprise and I can say I loved every second of it! Raw and beautiful characters with amazing representation.

The playlist that comes with this book is a very original and fun twist. It brings the characters even more alive.

Killer Vocals 2 was such a fun and intense read. It picks up where the first book ended and throws the survivors into even darker and scarier challenges. The kills are creative, the tension never lets up, and there are some great little nods to horror classics. I really liked how the story world opened up more and the characters had to fight harder than ever. It’s fast, bloody, and impossible to put down. Now I’m ready for book three! Alan is so creative in his writing, I love it. Slasher fans: GET THIS BOOK!! 🖤

3.5*

Alan Shivers is back with the sequel to Killer Vocals, a 90s-influenced slasher with a unique setting. In that book, we followed women from all over Europe as they competed to be chosen for a new girl pop group. Before long the murders begun and the contestants started disappearing and turning up dead, which all built to a twist ending that I won't spoil here. This book, of which I'll go light on talking about plot details for obvious reasons, picks up where that left off.

This is no standalone novel, and at a very minimum you need to read the first Killer Voices book to follow what is happening. I'd also strongly recommend reading The Namaste Slasher, as well - that book ties into the overarching story here, and while the most important information from it is provided over the course of this story you'll get much more out of it having gotten to know those characters and experience what happened to them.

While the first book had a lot of introduction to the protagonists, their personal lives, and their relationships to eachother, Killer Vocals 2 comes out swinging. There's a lot more violence here, more brutal kills, and a characteristically high body count for a Shivers novel. There's still plenty of character moments but this feels more action packed.

It's very easy to recommend to fans of the previous book, and indeed of Shivers' work generally, I don't think anyone that enjoyed his other novels would be disappointed. It does feel a little like the nationalities of the characters doesn't change too much, and perhaps they could be from different countries without it effecting much. It's also a little frustrating still not knowing what exactly is going on, with a third book still to come, but these are minor complaints. If you're in the mood for a quick, fun, gory slasher with a body count, this is bound to be right up your street.

After diving into Killer Vocals, I approached the sequel with a mix of anticipation and skepticism, unsure of how Alan could possibly sustain the gripping suspense and unexpected twists that made the first book such a thrilling ride. I’m happy to report that my doubts were completely unfounded!

Killer Vocals 2 goes above and beyond, taking the story in directions I never saw coming, leaving me with a sense of delightful disorientation—the kind that can only be described as literary whiplash. Each chapter, concise and well-paced, made for a rapid reading experience that had me hooked from the start.

One of the standout features is the character development. Returning characters have a chance to grow and evolve, which adds depth to their arcs. New characters are seamlessly introduced, enriching the narrative without overwhelming the reader. To fully appreciate their journeys, I recommend starting with the first book; the background provided there enhances the thrilling escapades that unfold here.

The world-building is another strong point. Alan crafts a vivid setting that perfectly captures the opulence of the surroundings, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the story's atmosphere. The descriptive writing sets the scene beautifully, enhancing the overall experience.

With a blend of gore, drama, and a healthy dose of unpredictability, Killer Vocals 2 proves to be an exhilarating thriller. For fans of slasher fiction, this book delivers a riveting mix of fun and horror that will keep you turning the pages. Bravo, Alan, for pulling off a sequel that not only meets but exceeds expectations!

Get ready for the ultimate showdown as Alan Shivers unleashes 'Killer Vocals 2', the heart-pumping sequel to 'Killer Vocals' and 'The Namaste Slasher'. Juli and Themis are thrust into a deadly underground competition, where they must join forces with new allies and fight to survive Phase Two. But only one can reign supreme - who will be the last one standing?

First and foremost, a huge thank you to Alan and his team for the ARC copy of this book. The first 'Killer Vocal' was a unique blend of X-Factor girl group and slasher, but this time around it takes a darker turn, evoking 'Hunger Games' vibes with contestants being brutally eliminated after each round. I thoroughly enjoyed the character dynamics in this book, getting to know the girls on a deeper level and finding myself invested in their journeys. However, as with any Alan Shivers' book, be warned: do not get too attached to the characters, as he has a knack for ripping your heart out in the most vicious way possible. The killings are brutal, and just when you think someone is safe, BOOM, they're not. This time around, we also get to delve deeper into Ivan's backstory and his family, previously introduced in 'The Namaste Slasher'. Plus, there are some amazing surprises and appearances that you won't want to miss.

Alan Shivers remains the master of the slasher genre, fearlessly pushing boundaries while weaving an emotionally charged narrative that's full of pulse-pounding chase scenes, heart-stopping action sequences, and laugh-out-loud moments amidst the mayhem, making for a truly unforgettable thrill ride.

3.75/5⭐

This time around I was ready for the cliffhanger 🫡.

I enjoyed this one, it was definitely giving Saw and a reality TV show. I was so excited to see some familiar face 🤭. I was patiently waiting for that since book 1. Probably one of my favourite characters actually.

The only thing that was kind of rubbing me the wrong way was all the hypocrisy from Themis and Juli. Kelechi was basically told that if he was not going to do what he is told to, then his daughter is going to get 🔪. He chose to protect his family. And the girls were litterally doing the same, protecting themselves and their loved ones. So I didn't understand all the condescension from them. Especially after the decision Juli made in the end. I understand why she did it, but that doesn't change the fact that it was selfish. I'm lowkey ranting but this was bothering me so much throughout the whole book.

I really like how this author writes the kill/dying scenes, there's something unique about it. The thoughts that go trough people's heads when they know they're about to die but don't want to give up seems so authentic and raw. I don't think I've ever read anything like it.

I loved the short chapters as well, it felt like Christmas every time I finished one. Can't wait for the next book, I really need some answers.

First off , go into the sequel knowing 100% that absolutely no one is safe! I'd also recommend that you read The Namaste Slasher (a standalone, but also works as a prequal), as characters cross over. It will help you out on what may confuse you reading the second instalment of Killer Vocals. Now we've got that over. Here's the rest of my review!

*Contains slight spoliers*

This follows directly on from Killer Vocals, as if there's just a turn of the page, which I loved. So definitely make sure you have a clear aspect of where KV1 finishes up, or you may be a little confused! It dives straight in continuing to follow the journey of Julieta, and Themis, as they find themselves underground fighting for their survival through round after round of brutal battles, that ultimately test everything they have in them. Their mind, body, morals, and even their souls.

KV 2 takes us on another epic slasher journey across the EU. Only this time, the steaks are much higher. Round after bloody round, the scenes reek with slasher gore as friendships are tested, minds are played with, and literal shocks are to be had. This is a slasher story filled with manipulation and terror that leaves us hanging on another cliffhanger. I need book 3 now!!

'Killer Vocals 2' by Alan Shivers
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alan Shivers described Book 2 as a mix between 'Battle Royale' and 'Saw'....
Do you wanna play a game???

At the end of Book 1, Juli and Themis enter an elevator. In Book 2, they now find themselves in a strange underground and are among other survivors. They are forced to compete with each other to be the strongest singers and dancers and in the shadows there lurks a masked figure wielding a very sharp weapon so, as this is a slasher novel, Shivers did not disappoint with the brutal killings and the games they are to participate in. It's a fight to the death, and everyone is in it for themselves. I did not know what to expect with this story, but it kept me captivated, and as a reader, trying to piece everything together kept me hooked on reading to the end. I love a good puzzle mystery! Just when I thought it was all over, it took a turn, and then it slowed down and came to a stop! I have my thoughts on this, but I am going to keep them to myself until I have read Book 3, hopefully. Please, please let there be a Book 3!!! Very well written Alan Shivers..... I don't think I could get bored of your stories 👏👏👏

I loved this sequel! We finally got to see where everyone was taken to after leaving the villa, and wow, was it crazy! We also got to see new characters that were in previous books again, which I loved! We are still in the dark about exactly who the Horvats are though, so I’m eagerly awaiting book 3 so that I can find out once and for all! I’m itching to know. The book was filled with gore, as per usual, and lots of heart to heart moments between the girls. I definitely recommend picking up this series, but start from the beginning!

If Killer Vocals 1 blew you away, get ready to delve deep into Killer Vocals 2, the grown-up, emotional sequel. The plot follows immediately on from the final scene in the first book (which you will need to read before getting into this one), as they descend into a world of madness, designed to keep them and the reader on edge through the entire book.

I couldn't put this one down. The short, snappy chapters make it easy to devour, and I yet again found the plot to be incredibly well-paced, making this book just as bingable as all of Alan's other works.

I loved seeing more of an emotional side to the characters in this book, as well as seeing some old favourites from The Namaste Slasher. I felt so connected to the characters despite being so many of them, and found myself really rooting for them throughout.

It's safe to say that Alan Shivers has done it again - I already can't wait to see what happens in the Final Round!

Such an amazing sequel to Killer Vocals!
If you liked the first book I would definitely recommend reading the sequel.

The book starts at the end of the first book. I expected that we would get into it slowly but gosh was I wrong. We are immediately back in the story and the action.

I loved the fact that we got background information about the characters in this book. It helped me understand them better and get (maybe a little too) attached to them (even though Alan Shivers had warned me haha)

I would recommend reading 'the Namaste Slasher' (the prequel) before starting Killer Vocals, since some characters make an appearance in this book.

Overall I loved reading this book so much! I cannot wait for the 3rd book in this series.

Thank you Alan Shivers for giving me the opportunity to read this book! It is a 5 star (as always)

Being a slasher lover whose comfort movie is Scream (1996) it’s no surprise I’ve become obsessed with Alan Shivers work. This novel picks up right after Killer Vocals and does not let go from the first page. We are dragged into the ‘cutthroat’ tale and see our survivors once again fighting to stay alive. I adored the mixture of dystopian setting and slasher horror. Shivers ties up not only the fates and lives of characters in Killer Vocals but also the Namaste Slasher as well which I really loved. If you love twisty, slashy reads this is one for you.
As always thank you to the author for the advanced copy to review, my reviews are always honest and freely given.

another hit by Alan shivers.
in this book we have superb character development. he gave us characters we love and cheer on. survivors of the first book deepen in this one and the new ones are introduced flawlessly. the world building in this one was chefs kiss. the scenes written so eloquently had the image clear as day in my mind. the pace was perfect there weren't any parts that were too fast or too slow. the twists had me guessing wrong every time. it left me on the edge of my seat and it was def an enjoyable slasher.

The perfect love letter to slasher movies. The tie in to the namaste slayer was done just right, got me saying namaste bitches all over again(not that i ever stopped). I really enjoy who we get the story from different perspectives. The twist and turns in this book kept me on my toes. Cannot wait to see where he takes the atory next.

What a great follow up to Killer Vocals! AND a great tie in with The Namaste Slasher! In true horror sequel fashion, this one picks up where the last one left off, so you will need to read the first book to understand what’s going on. The kill scenes were very thrilling and action packed. And in true horror movie form, there were several characters we were rooting for and wanted to live (SPOILER: not everyone makes it out alive). I’ve said it before, but I could 100% see this series adapted into a movie or movie series.

Alan does it again. This book had me hooked. So many twists and turns. Nobody is safe in this story…everyone is a target.

Killer vocals 2 starts where KV1 ends. Lets say there are some truly stomach wrenching and ultimatums put in place for the characters. Lets just say the mic scene…

The competition continues with new contestants.

I honestly didn’t like this one. It seemed the author didn’t know where the book was heading himself. Adding supernatural elements to it without any explanation just randomly throwing characters and ideas into the book. Adding kills to distract the reader from the underdeveloped story arc.
