THIS WAS SO INTENSE!!!! AHHHHHH!!

The last series I read that made me genuinely scared for the heroine is Penelope in Villains Are Destined to Die, and I was so unprepared for that kind of fear to wrap around me with Raeliana because IF SHE HAD DIED I WOULD HAVE RIOTED! OH MY GOODNESS!! Please creator and artist, spare her, Noah, and us any anxiety or worry for our sweet Raeliana in the next volume!!

Honestly, though, this entire volume was extremely good and was nonstop intensity from the opening page! With Raeliana FINALLY getting answers, I feel like the mystery and unraveling of the answers took center stage! And goodness, I was NOT expecting the answers we did get!! It was a twist I didn't see coming, that's for sure! Between that, stuff with the dark priestess, and then the revelations the closer we got to "the end," this volume had me glued to my seat and throw out my plan to go to bed on time! LOL!

While this wasn't an overly romantic volume, I will say there is one romance scene that had me squealing!!! EEEEEPPP!! Lots of small wonderful moments between Raeliana and Noah and so thankful that both of them are fighting for her to be in this world and them be together.

I was also really excited to see a "friendly" face again because they always crack me up, and that was especially true in this volume!

I think if you've been wanting answers just like Raeliana has, this volume is the one you NEED to read! Again, it was extremely intense because Raeliana knows everything now, but despite knowing, it leaves you on edge if she can KEEP everything. (I was so irked at that dark priestess saying she is the one who has to go! YOU JUST HELP RAELIANA AND NOT SAY STUFF LIKE THAT OKAY?!)

I'm excited and sad to know the next volume is the final volume, but I have zero doubts that it's going to be a really strong conclusion because each volume has been so good! It's also gotten more swoonworthy, gripping, and funny!

Here's to hoping that all of Raeliana's wishes will come true in the next volume!

If fiction has taught me anything, it's to always be wary of women named Beatrice.

...and people who call themselves "playwrights."

What a satisfying volume!

Now this is a cliffhanger that I can totally support. I'm totally excited to read the next volume and not suffering because it's going to take months before the next volume is available. This is what I'm talking about! The other thing I'd like to point out is while there's not a lot of chapters, they're longer and have lots of content. The story makes really good progress and has wonderful pacing and lots of great reveals. I honestly have no complaints about this volume at all. This is a series that just keeps on giving and is totally worth reading. When it's finally completed I think I'll binge read the whole thing again. I'm also thrilled to see that the anime is doing a great job of adapting the manga to anime.

There's some wonderful bits that I'm not spoiling but will point an arrow at so that when you get there you'll know what I'm talking about. There are some wonderful bits that I think are refreshing and original for a well-used issakai format. If you're into the genre, then you're familiar with the whole reincarnating into a character scenario. But what's going on in this one, and is fully revealed by the end of this volume, is a refreshing take on it all. I found myself smiling and satisfaction that it went this way even if it is still tragic and unsettling. If you're a fan of the genre and you like it well written, then this is definitely a good one for you.

I wanted to read something light before Katabasis (UGH, I cannot wait!!) and it turns out I really enjoyed this one 😍 Now I have to wait until October for Vol. 9 to drop on Kindle! Why do I live in a country where it’s so hard to get the series huhu 😭

Significant events occurred in this one, with numerous revelations and everything coming together like a perfect puzzle that ultimately lead to the final showdown. But most importantly, THEY BANGED.

This one had so much plot revelations and movement. Omg poor vivan I am so sad. Her poor brother too. Still love our Duke and Adam. I wonder what this all means how is this going to end, I can’t wait for our final volume to come out.

I definitely should've seen some of those twists coming sooner, but it does resolve a few of my "why make Beatrice the villain" issues. It's a whole complicated tangle of deities and fate and the dark priestesses who liked messing with the goddess's plans by swapping souls around.

Honestly don't really understand where the current high priest fits into all of this now...he seems ultra-powerful but also doesn't know how to do things like the soul-switching, and presumably has deep faith in the goddess the priestesses disdain? For fairly good reason, since she just plays with human lives to get stories to follow the paths she wants. Although they do the same just to spite her.

So, the biggest twist is that Raeliana is actually the true villain...not the Raeliana we've been spending all this time with, but the one whose body our other-world heroine took over. Real Raeliana basically got caught up in a war between two powerful women...although it doesn't seem like the goddess was aware? Not sure what she's been doing all this time, since she must know the souls wound up in the wrong spots...

Turns out Our Raeliana was destined to fulfill the original Beatrice storyline by sliding into that body when Real Beatrice faded away sooner than she was meant to. The goddess went searching for someone to fulfill that role and found her on the rooftop of another world.

Which means...Our Raeliana didn't defy fate at all. That feels a little bit like a cheat...Noah still fell in love with an entirely different soul in an entirely different body, but it was a soul the goddess had specifically chosen to be the one he would fall in love with. So I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm not really big on the idea of fate and soulmates; I prefer people actually being in charge of their own destiny.

It's also kind of a bummer for Raeliana's family. Their real daughter was quiet and dutiful and seemed sweet, but in reality was just a shy, boring girl who longed to be the center of a story, like her sunnily popular friend Beatrice. And when she was given the opportunity to take over her friend's life, she hesitated a little before turning into an absolutely horrendous person.

The ironic part is that if she'd wanted so hard to change her boring fate where guys like Noah would never take a second look at her, all she had to do was work on her personality in her original life. It must've smarted really bad for her to see "Raeliana" getting engaged to the Duke, with her being sidelined yet again as the beautiful, brilliant Beatrice who was supposed to be the center of everything.

The biggest bummer was honestly Vivian. And poor Justin. I like him so much and he's getting an absolutely raw deal. He pretty much chose Raeliana - a woman who will never love or choose him - over his own sister, who was just a spoiled rich girl who'd never meant to do anything truly evil, and who badly wanted her brother to come save her.

He got there too late, and that's...I don't know. It's kind of rough that Raeliana and Noah are on their way to this blissful life together while the Shamal family got absolutely brutalized. It was Beatrice's fault and no one else's, but it still seems like more could've been done to save Vivian.

Meanwhile, the king doesn't actually seem to care at all that his wife just got stabbed in the back. I like him as a character but wow Vivian would not have been happy in that marriage even if she'd lived. I wasn't expecting to feel so sorry for her by the end of the series.

Other little plot holes...Beatrice managing to stab a woman in the back and not get any blood on her hands/clothes in the process AND somehow not be heard at all by the masses of guards that were camped outside of Raeliana's room literally waiting for Beatrice to make a move. That was messy and kind of stupid.

I think the next volume is the final one, so let's see how all the threads get wrapped up.

Holy twist! This volume really took things to a whole new level—and I loved every second of it. The plot twist? Mind-blowing. It's one of those moments where you just have to sit back and whisper, “No way…” Honestly, it’s hard to talk about it without giving away spoilers, but just know this: it changes everything.

The arrival of the dark (and totally unhinged) priestess adds an intense, eerie tone to the volume. Her cryptic premonitions are the kind that send a chill down your spine, and she brings a chaotic energy that keeps the tension high. I’m genuinely impressed by how layered and compelling the character designs and backstories are—every new face brings a fresh dynamic to the story.

And oh, Noah... that man knows how to make an entrance. His smug, confident demeanor is just so him, even when he shows up late to an important meeting after what was clearly a very intimate moment with Raeliana last night 😅 (You know what I mean right?). That balance of suave charm and mystery? Irresistible.

I seriously can’t wait for the final volume—I need to know how it all ends! And fingers crossed, we’ll get a new season of the anime adaptation, because this story deserves to be animated in its full glory.

We're nearing the end in this volume, where Raeliana discovers that the original soul of her body switched to the one of her best friend,Beatrice.

We also see some flashbacks, of how she came to be in this world.

There's also political intrigue,as the would be queen gets assassinated by Beatrice, who tries to pin it on Raeliana.

L’histoire était complètement zinzin du début à la fin.
Tellement triste d’avoir fini…
Un 5/5 ⭐️ tellement mérité.
Et la fin, omg. Dans toutes les époques et dans toutes les réincarnations Noah retrouvera toujours Léliana 🥹

I love this series and finally the truth about everything is revealed in this one which is so satisfying, but for some reason couldn’t find myself as interested in this volume versus the rest of them. I’m just so glad that the ninth and final volume is out so I can read it.

Getting closer to finding out the whole truth. I guess Vivian was collateral damage - her death doesn’t seem to be a big deal to anyone except as a plot device. The OG Raeliana currently resides in Beatrice’s body- who was the woman that talked her into the whole switch?

Now the plot thickens and things are remembered. Sad that murder had to be triggered to get there, but no one wanted her to be queen anyhow. Right?

That whole "fake murder accusation" was so sloppily plotted that I can't give it a pass. This volume is a bit of a mess.
