How lucky are we to get this story as a novel, manhua, manga, donghua, and live action 🥰. The manhua is a little choppy as others have pointed out and feels like it’s missing something but I still adore it. At this point I just think of it as a beautiful art book of one of my favorite stories. Also, four pages of WY and LZ “nuzzling” 🥰
Screaming, crying, throwing up! Rereading MDZS will always be the death of me.
Yiling Laozu's vulnerability in front of Hanguang-Jun and their conversation about that nice road to go by will always strike me. He’s not choosing the demonic path because he wants to, but because it’s the only way left for him to protect the people who rely on him. No one has ever given him a clear, righteous path where he can protect others without being judged or condemned. It’s heartbreaking because you can tell he’s not trying to be defiant—he’s just trying to hold onto his humanity in a world that won’t let him. Because all in all, there is no such road.
Also, the Wen remnants they so wanted to purge, has once again resurrected for a moment just to save them, the same people who wants them eliminated. It's so sad! I'm not crying, you are!
“Why can’t the world give me a broad, easy road? One that allows me to protect the ones I care about without needing to cultivate a demonic path?”
It’s always hit or miss when a manhua adapts a novel, and while this one rushes through some beats and cuts a few corners, it’s better than most. The pacing can get choppy, but the core emotional threads hold up. The art still does a good job capturing the mood, and the character expressions land where they need to. There’s a clear effort to keep the story intact even when the structure starts to buckle under the pressure of fitting everything in.
This volume leans heavily into emotional fallout, moral lines, and complex loyalties. You can feel the story starting to reach a boiling point, with the tension between characters bubbling just under the surface. Wei Wuxian’s inner turmoil gets plenty of space, and his dynamic with Lan Wangji continues to be the quiet anchor in the middle of the chaos. There’s a lot going on here—old ghosts, blurred lines, the kind of loyalty that hurts more than it heals—but the moments of warmth and unexpected humor help keep it from drowning in its own drama.
Even with the pacing issues, there’s real weight behind the choices characters make. You can tell the creative team respects the source material even if the adaptation can’t always keep up with it. It’s not flawless, but it’s engaging, emotional, and still very much worth the read.
I love the yiling patriach so much. He is so dark and majestic istfg! But why is the cultivation world so fckn annoying and backstabberish? But I love how the juniors protect wwx <3
I love this story, it's my favorite ever, so I have many favorite parts. This is one of those parts.
I love when all the cultivators have shown up and they think they've caught Wei wuxian in the middle of an evil plot. Wei Wuxian just freed all he juniors. Then, he confronts them with logic and breaks down all their auguments. He stands up to the whole thing. At least this time, Lan Zhan is at his side. They say to survive high school, all you need is one really good friend. It looks true.
MXTX discussed one of the reasons she wrote this story was about being cyber bullied. This whole scene is her dealing with that, how rumors can be taken as truth. I love how Wei Wuxian turned the tables on them and revealed the people behind the plot. It shocked everyone. Everyone gets to understand the truth, slowly.
We all blame Meng Yao, but really, the Jin clan and his father had a hand in this. Chief Jin was doing a lot behind the scenes using Meng Yao to enshrine himself in power. He was respected, but he was also sort of behind things. He certainly was happy to frame up Wei Wuxian and use him. He made up some lies about him in front of everyone and Lan Zhan called him out on it. It would have helped if Lan Zhan could speak more, but then the plot might have changed.
I love the sequence of events we are in. The story stopped just before the best part. It brings the whole story together.
The manwha is not that great. The artwork is wonderful, but man, it's so choppy and rushed. They rush through big scenes and it's like they expect you to know the story. I just felt everything is so rushed and clipped and choppy. We cut here, then there and it's difficult to even understand what's going on in the picture. I know it well. I feel they expect the reader to have watched the show and have understanding of what's going on.
Oh well. I have it in my head so well, that it blooms to life. I can't wait for the next one. This series has been going on for three years. I think we'll get a fourth year too. Still, we are close to the ending. I do wonder if they are doing the extras. There is some great material in there and I hope they do. Lots of good stuff with the juniors.
I love the juniors on the boat when Wei Wuxian faints and they all feel the boat is too small and have to leave the room. They said "It felt like there was no room in there for anyone else. They did great with that scene.
TREMENDO. Me encantan

Was really excited about this one arriving. It has one of my favorite scenes in it, in which Wei calls out the Su Clan but also gets closure with the Wen Clan corpses. We also get more soft moments between our boys and a nice plot drop upon returning to Lotus Pier.
Always recommend MDZS. It's both a classic and a staple. We love Wei Wuxian in this household.
A-Yuan!!! not wanting to call Wei Ying mom but thinking of him as mom in a way xD Wen Qing's death always makes me so sad. also the scene of the cover is always so impressive though I love the animated version of it the most. I can't wait for volume 12!!!
Feels like the most rushed volume out of the bunch. I was really happy I've read the light novel before, because there were times I felt it was hard to follow, even more so with just the faces and clothes of the characters to remember who they were.
The bias the other cultivators show against Wei Wuxian makes my blood boil but I love how it results in Lan Zhan being protective over him. There were some really sweet moments between them in this volume that I absolutely loved! 🥰
Finally passed the parts that are all heartbreaking. Now we are at the park where hypocrisy is at least on the side of justice this time. There's a lot of irony with mob mentality in the selfish nature of humans. Makes me feel really bad for the people who suffer...
