The divine duel is a science fiction book and honestly I don't enjoy this book at all 🥹

The book lacks so many things
I had a very difficult time connecting to the story or the characters while reading.🙂 The pacing was so fast that the moment i started to feel the storyline it switched to the next scene and this made me disconnected to the characters and what was happening in the story.

The writing was very flat and it feels like i was reading a list of descriptions not the story. The pacing was too fast .
The book lacks dialogue and the story was very predictable and it lacks world building.
It needs editing and there was no character development at all.
And the ending was so unconvincing i didn't like it .

I was so excited to read science fiction but honestly this book doesn't feel like sci-fi at all 🙂

🥀The book The Divine Duel is penned by the author Pratik Sahay. This story is an incisive exploration of the deepest parts of the human spirit that appeals to both the intellect and the emotions. It explores grief, retribution, and redemption. The drama, which is set against the well-known yet painstakingly constructed setting of New Delhi, takes us to Anugrah, a person who has been shattered by loss and is driven to the extremities of morality.

🥀His journey from pessimism to defiance makes for an engaging character arc. His metamorphosis from a family person to the sinister entity known as "GOD" serves as the novel's foundation and gives it an eerie, intensely absorbing feel. Fundamentally, this book addresses the age-old query: how far might one go for justice before losing their humanity?

🥀The story has been expertly built by the author around this fundamental concept, depicting Anugrah's transformation from a guy who previously had faith in love and devotion to a character who looks to even supernatural beings for guidance. The book eloquently illustrates how grief can change a person, causing them to do actions and make choices they never would have in a different mental condition.

🥀The intricacy of Anugrah's motivations is what gives his character depth. He is portrayed by the author as a wounded soul rather than a pristine hero or villain, which makes us feel his suffering while shuddering at his cruelty. His metamorphosis into "GOD" is compelling; it represents a man who has forfeited everything and now turns to power and retribution for solace. As he dives farther into darkness, this dichotomy makes readers uneasy and makes them wonder if they should support him or oppose him.

🥀The story's psychological depth is not overshadowed by the skillfully written and powerful action scenes. Introspective passages when Anugrah struggles with his own demons and broken sense of self are where his writing really shines. The story is elevated above simple retaliation by these passages, which give it an existential weight that highlights the fragility of human passion and the search for purpose in the midst of chaos. The way the (ATF) & its valiant members, under the leadership of General Daksh, are portrayed is among its most notable features. The narrative turns into a contest of ideas and cunning as the ATF tries to halt Anugrah.

🥀These heroes provide an intriguing contrast to Anugrah's decline because they are more than just moral opposites; they are symbols of resiliency and optimism. As each side attempts to outsmart the other, the tension between Anugrah & the ATF keeps readers guessing and gives the book a good beat. Philosophical issues are explored in this book without holding back, fusing morality and mysticism in a way that is both compelling and significant. Readers are forced to examine their own views on justice, grief, and forgiveness as a result of Anugrah's journey. The novel offers a chilling caution encased in an exciting plotline by hinting at the expenses of unbridled power, not only for the holder but also for the entire universe.

🥀The author's implementation of New Delhi,
turning it into a battlefield where modern ethical dilemmas and age-old spiritual issues clash, is especially intriguing. The city itself takes on a personality of its own, with its past and current culture impacting the decisions and challenges of its people. The supernatural & philosophical aspects are anchored by this environment, which gives them a sense of immediacy and relevance. This book explores the darkest sides of the human psyche, exploring the turning point at which justice turns into vengeance and sadness into rage. Readers will be left wondering about what they believe long after they've flipped the last page of the author's gripping story.

🥀This book provides a gripping examination of the hazy boundary between good and evil for readers who enjoy psychological thrillers and dark fantasy. It poses the question, Is retribution ever sufficient, or does real retribution lie in dealing with the shadows within?"

"The Divine Duel" immediately grips the reader with a stark and brutal premise: the systematic dismantling of Anugrah's idyllic life in New Delhi. The swift succession of tragedies that befall this devoted family man, loyal lover, and steadfast friend serves as a potent catalyst, propelling him into a shadowed abyss of grief and a fervent pursuit of retribution. His transformation into the enigmatic "GOD" is not merely a change of identity, but a declaration of war against the world that has so cruelly betrayed him, signaling a narrative that transcends conventional revenge tropes.
The central conceit of the novel – Anugrah's quest for answers not from the earthly realm but from the divine – elevates "The Divine Duel" beyond a simple thriller. This ambition to confront the very architects of existence imbues the narrative with a philosophical weight, promising an exploration of faith, power, and the intricate tapestry of morality. Anugrah's pain is visceral, rendering his descent into darkness understandable, if not justifiable, and his self-anointed divine moniker underscores the profound nature of his disillusionment and the scale of his intended reckoning.
Counterbalancing Anugrah's vengeful ascent is the introduction of the ATF, a determined collective of heroes led by the resolute General Daksh. This establishes a compelling dynamic between a protagonist driven by profound personal loss and a force dedicated to preserving global order. The narrative wisely refrains from painting Anugrah as a purely malevolent entity; instead, it positions him as a consequence of profound suffering, blurring the lines between victim and villain and inviting readers to grapple with complex moral ambiguities.
The infusion of mysticism into the narrative adds another layer of intrigue. Anugrah's pursuit of divine answers suggests encounters with forces and realms beyond human comprehension, promising to enrich the storyline with elements of the fantastical and expand the scope of the central conflict. This skillful interweaving of raw human emotion with otherworldly possibilities creates a unique and potentially captivating reading experience.
Furthermore, story astutely highlights Anugrah's internal struggle. His navigation of the treacherous path of vengeance is fraught with the question of whether solace can be found in retribution or if a glimmer of redemption can penetrate the darkness consuming him. This internal conflict, juxtaposed with the external battles against the ATF and the anticipated confrontation with the gods, promises a multi-faceted narrative with significant emotional and thematic depth.
In conclusion, "The Divine Duel" presents a compelling and ambitious narrative framework. It promises a sophisticated exploration of universal themes such as loss, justice, revenge, and redemption, set against a dramatic backdrop of both earthly conflict and celestial confrontation. Anugrah's transformation into "GOD" is a bold and immediately arresting narrative choice, and the introduction of the ATF provides a necessary and compelling opposition. The skillful blending of human drama, mystical undertones, and philosophical inquiry suggests a novel poised to resonate with readers seeking narratives that delve into the complexities of the human spirit and the fundamental questions of existence. The lingering question of Anugrah's ultimate fate – whether he will succumb to vengeance or find a path to redemption – ensures a compelling and anticipated reading experience.

Pratik Sahay's book titled 'The Divine Duel,' where I found highly sensitive and consuming events that hooked me till the end of the story in one sitting.

The story is a reflection of personal loss, pain, despair, betrayal, religious conflict, and fleeting moments of joy. The plot of the book revolves around the life of Anugrah, who encounters tragedy and, once wise and kindhearted, transforms into a person relying on hatred and revenge. Everything in Anugrah's life is sorted, and he is cherishing a lovely time in his college until he encounters betrayal from his very close friend, who steals his new AI invention, followed by the death of his girlfriend in a religious riot. The portrait of the father-son relationship offers the readers the chance to enjoy the moment of love, affection, and connection. After Anugrah leaves his home for higher study, a distance starts to develop between them, and a devastating circumstance takes away everything from his life and leaves him in a horrible state of condition for which he has to escape to the forest.

The way the natural world has been observed by the author and its elaborate description make it a defining feature. Each chapter of the book provides small lessons about life events, which led every reader to introspect on the actions and morality. The book presents as a reminder to explore nature, discover its hidden beauty, and appreciate everything gifted by it. Anugrah, when faced with loss, relies on the shoulder of nature and discovers solace as he approaches the forest and finds peace in the depth of it. While introspecting on his traumatic past, he rediscovers the power of being alone and finds a passage for self-discovery and inner strength.

Now one question comes to our mind: as he gets stuck choosing between two conflicting emotions, revenge and mercy, which side will he choose and define his upcoming future? Reading this book in depth would help the reader to understand Anugrah's complex psychology and twist of tragedies.

"Over time, the scars of the tragedy become less visible, but they remain etched in the hearts and minds of those affected forever."

"The Divine Duel" by author Pratik Sahay revolves around the conflict between powerful forces of good and evil. The novel explores themes of betrayal, loss, grief, sacrifice, revenge, and redemption.

Set in the years 2035 to 2038, we see the protagonist, Anugrah, studying in New Delhi while his father stays in a village named Bindu in West Bengal. Anugrah has two best friends, Ahsan and Lokesh, and a girlfriend, Inaya. His life was going well as he prepared for a presentation at the ATF conference, but a few tragedies occurred that took him away from his friends and family. What happened that changed Anugrah completely and made him emotionless? How will Anugrah's anger propel him further?

I appreciate author Pratik's rich writing style. The vivid descriptions and narration, including the action scenes, have been executed exceptionally well. The story is fast-paced and kept me engaged until the end. There are also certain twists that were unexpected and made me think for a while. Anugrah's character is portrayed as a powerful one, constantly battling between seeking revenge and showing mercy.

Readers who enjoy a blend of sci-fi, mythology, fantasy, adventure, and psychological thrillers should read it at least once. This novel prompts us to interrogate ourselves about how far someone can go for justice and whether it is truly right to seek revenge, leaving behind the humanity we possess.

Life almost took away everything from him. This gripping tale revolves around the life of Anugrah, an intelligent student who lost his mother (Maya) at the age of five. Right after this incident, his father (Bhargav) choose to move to a village named Bindu in Kalimpong district of West Bengal in order to keep his son away from all the evil prevailing in the society. The series of losses he faced one after the another will literally break your heart, keeping you hooked to know what happens next in the story. I absolutely loved the bonding and understanding between Anugrah and Bhargav - specially when he left his home for the sake of his father's happiness & peace.

During his college days in Delhi, he met and became good friends with Ahsan and Lokesh. Anugrah's relationship with Inaya, whom he met in the campus will touch your heart & make you fall in love with the characters. He was such a loving, caring partner. His heart, which once was full of love, joy, and hope, had been eclipsed by the overwhelming power of hatred and revenge. He emerged as a force against the world that betrayed him.

Do you think will the Alpha Task Force be able to stop the spreading darkness? The ATF is a group of responsible members who are responsible for controlling and handling combat threats, compromising situations and establishing peace in the country. Sahay's writing has a cinematic quality that allows readers to visualize each scene, especially through vivid imagery and attention to details, skillfully blending simplicity with emotional depth.

Divine Duel is a story of an emotional struggle where experiences of grief, rage, and faith in the modern-day city life are combined with the backdrop of a mythic thriller.

At the center of this novel is Anugrah, a man who once upheld the values of love, loyalty, and devotion but soon life throws him series of setbacks, breaking him piece by piece from which rises a rebel that dares to question the gods themselves eventually declaring himself GOD persona.

In each chapter reader can feel the pain coming from a shattered heart to a mind consumed by divine vengeance. But then comes a hero, General Daksh who is tasked to stop him and they get into both physical and mental duel.

Divine Duel challenges the concept of justice, god's will and morality. Its poignant and introspective narrative will make you ponder that when darkness covers the soul, is it possible to see the light again.

This book shows you how thin the line can be between justice and wrath and what grief can turn a person into. Its a captivating thriller with an intriguing plot which will not disappoint the readers of thriller, mytho and spirituality.

So… what happens when a good guy gets royally screwed over by life? He becomes GOD, obviously. Anugrah—our poster boy for “family man turned divine fury”—loses everything and decides that therapy is overrated. Instead, he goes full mythological mayhem on anyone in his path.

Honestly, this isn’t your average sob story. It’s grief with a vengeance, literally. Anugrah doesn’t just want closure—he wants answers from actual gods. Because why cry into a pillow when you can launch a one-man war against heaven?

Let’s be clear—this book isn’t handing out halos. Everyone’s morally questionable, emotionally wrecked, and possibly one monologue away from losing it completely. And that’s the charm. It’s messy, raw, and beautifully unhinged. Just how we like our dark fantasy, right?

Pratik Sahay blends mythology, mayhem, and mental breakdowns into one seriously gripping ride. It's got drama, it's got divine showdowns, and it’s got the kind of brooding main character who makes Batman look emotionally stable.

The Divine Duel is written by Pratik Sahay. It is a thriller cum mythological fiction, which I like the most.

Here in this book themes mainly include identity, destiny and good vs evil.

It is set in New Delhi, where the family man Anugrah faces tragic losses that propel him into a path of vengeance under the alias "GOD." Consumed by grief and anger, he seeks answers and power beyond the earthly realm, drawing the attention of the hero group ATF, led by General Daksh, who aims to halt his dark quest. The narrative explores revenge, redemption, and the moral complexities of power, questioning whether Anugrah will find solace in vengeance or redemption amid his turmoil.

This is the first part of the book so waiting for the second part as well. Narration is really good and feels like storytelling. Balancing mythology and thriller is hard but author has nailed it. If you love exploring characters plus reading modern mythological read, then this is just for you.

Overall loved it and recommended!

In this book the author weaves a haunting tale of love, loss, and divine vengeance. Set in a futuristic India, the story follows Anugrah, a kind-hearted man turned shadow — reborn as GOD, not to save the world, but to punish it. Betrayed by friends, scarred by grief, and haunted by faith, his transformation from human to myth unfolds with cinematic intensity.

The novel explores the thin line between justice and revenge, between creator and destroyer. While its climax feels a little dim beside its electrifying journey, The Divine Duel remains a thought-provoking meditation on power, pain, and the monsters grief can create. Despite minor flaws, it’s a gripping, emotional read that lingers like a dark prayer.

"The Divine Duel" by Pratik Sahay is not just a story—it’s an emotional storm. It begins with Anugrah, an ordinary man broken by extraordinary loss, whose pain transforms him into “GOD.” His journey from love to vengeance is both tragic and powerful, pulling you deep into his conflicted world.

What truly fascinated me was how the author balances divine symbolism with human fragility. The introduction of the ATF, led by General Daksh, heightens the tension, making it more than a personal story—it’s a clash of ideals. Each character’s moral struggle feels painfully real and beautifully layered.

Pratik Sahay writes with clarity and emotional weight, blending myth, action, and philosophy seamlessly. *The Divine Duel* is a dark yet illuminating read about loss, power, and redemption.

“Nowadays people feel strange if they’re showered with love and kindness without any motive” - a quote that truly depicts the state of a good portion of humanity today. Pratik Sahay has managed to capture the weakened soul of humanity and the shackles of society in this beautiful piece of writing. This book isn’t just a journey for its protagonist. If you build on perspective it’s a reflection of our soul and our inner thoughts, how society and the uncertainties of life can twist and bend the nature of our existence. How unreasonable yet validated our emotions and choices can turn out to be. Masterclass tale and underrated writing. And an even better story teller

Not only is the main character sad and venging, he has also been turned into a creature of a devil that is willing to seek the answers to the questions that are not tangible. The novel is a passable depiction of the way the ingredients of vengeance, redemption and good and evil lines are handled. It is a mixture not only of the dramatic performance, but also of the most advanced psychological character and plays with human feelings and the impact of the uncontrollable power, not to mention that a reader is only attached to the text being read. It leaves these questions on the reader of what justice and what is the price of revenge is.
