Fiona Leitch is a writer with a chequered past. She’s written for football and motoring magazines, DJ’ed at illegal raves and is a stalwart of the low budget TV commercial, even appearing as the Australasian face of a cleaning product called 'Sod Off'. After living in London and Cornwall she's finally settled in sunny New Zealand, where she enjoys scaring her cats by trying out dialogue on them. She spends her days dreaming of retiring to a crumbling Venetian palazzo, walking on the windswept beaches of West Auckland, and writing funny, flawed but awesome female characters.
The first book in her 'Nosey Parker' series of cozy mysteries set in Cornwall will be published by One More Chapter in January 2021, with books 2 and 3 following in February and March.
Her debut novel 'Dead in Venice' was published by Audible in 2018 as one of their Crime Grant finalists. Fiona also writes screenplays and was a finalist in the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab, co-run by Meryl Streep's IRIS company.

A delightfully twisty cozy mystery with enough Cornish charm to make me want a seaside vacation — minus the murder, obviously. Watching the honeymoon trip unravel into a full-blown murder investigation was so entertaining, and I loved how the small-town secrets kept piling up with every chapter. Daisy, Mum Shirley, and Germaine the Pomeranian always bring the lightness and good humor as they stumble their way through the investigation, and their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. The characters were witty, the plot kept me guessing, and I officially suspected everyone at least once. The victim was shallow, greedy, and an all-around terrible person — especially in the way he treated women — so there was no shortage of possible motives and a very powerful family, and you have a fun, fast read that’s perfect for anyone who likes their mysteries with humor, heart, seaside drama, and food.... Champagne anyone?
The Nosey Parker series by Fiona Leitch is one of my favorite cozy mystery series and I'm always delighted to reunite with Jodie, Nathan and the rest of the gang. This time, however, things felt a little different. While the mystery is once again set in Cornwall, the action moves from Penzance to a secluded Cornish island and I absolutely loved the change of scenery.
Everything about this book worked for me—the atmospheric island setting, the engaging plot, the familiar characters and Fiona Leitch's signature quirky humor. The story had strong locked-room mystery vibes with a touch of Agatha Christie, which made it impossible for me to put down. I flew through the pages, eager to discover how everything would unfold.
I was thoroughly satisfied with both the investigation and the ending. It's wonderful to see a long-running favorite series continue to grow stronger with each installment. As long as Jodie and Nathan keep returning, I'll be there to see what adventure awaits them next!
Huge thanks to Harper Collins UK for the gifted ARC of Book 10 in the Nosey Parker Cozy Mystery series.
ARC received! Thank you so much, One More Chapter!
This is my favorite currently running Cozy Mystery series. I love these characters so much. Each installment feels like an absolute gift at this point.
I always jump at the chance to read another in the ‘Nosey Parker’ series from Fiona Leitch, so thanks for the chance One More Chapter. The Cornish Honeymoon Murder is another fab mystery and I loved how the storm added to the very tense atmosphere. An idyllic retreat with some not so perfect characters added up to a great investigation for Jodie and Nathan. As always they work so week together and I loved how the how Jodie’s sometimes unorthodox methods always yield results. Plus Jodie’s mum is always good value for money!
My favourite cosy crime series but the Agatha Christie-ness of this one made it the weakest in terms of enjoyment for me. Sorry! Still love Jodie and fam though! ❤️
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder really said, what if your romantic getaway had five-star amenities, eco-friendly luxury, undercover surveillance, family interference, and a dead body in the boathouse? Which is rude, because now every hotel stay without suspicious guests and storm-based entrapment feels lazy.
Jodie Parker and Nathan Withers are finally getting their honeymoon, except not really, because these two cannot enjoy intimacy unless someone nearby is lying through their veneers. They’re at Green Palms, a glossy eco-resort on the secluded Cornish island of St Lides, supposedly drinking champagne and being adorable, but actually investigating sabotage for resort owner Isaac Barnes. Nothing says newlywed bliss like side-eyeing strangers between spa treatments and wondering who hates the helicopter pad enough to make it everyone’s problem.
And because Jodie’s life has the boundaries of a toddler with espresso, Shirley, Daisy, and Germaine the dog come along too. I had only read one previous book in the series, The Cornish Christmas Pantomime Murder, so this was my second time wandering into the Nosey Parker universe like an unsupervised raccoon with a library card, and honestly, I’m starting to understand the addiction. These people are ridiculous in the exact way found-family chaos should be ridiculous. You roll your eyes, then immediately ask if they need snacks.
The whole setup is extremely my nonsense. A luxury resort soft opening. A bunch of wealthy guests acting normal, which is always a lie. Staff with secrets. Tiny acts of sabotage getting progressively less tiny. Jodie trying to look relaxed while mentally building a murder board out of vibes and suspicious pauses. Then a storm rolls in, knocks out the phones and internet, traps everyone on the island, and suddenly the resort goes from “wellness retreat” to “rich people panic terrarium.” Gorgeous. No notes.
Jodie is such a good lead because she is genuinely competent, but also fully gives the energy of a woman who says she is “just checking something” while absolutely about to bother three people and possibly commit a misdemeanor. She’s warm, nosy, funny, and sharp without ever becoming one of those cozy mystery heroines who trips over clues like the universe is spoon-feeding her crime confetti. She has actual instincts. She also has zero chill. A perfect combination, frankly.
Nathan, meanwhile, continues to be the calm adult in the room, which is brave considering the room contains Jodie’s entire family and a murderer. What works here is that he and Jodie actually feel like partners. Not fake book-married where one person investigates and the other exists to say, “Be careful.” They question, push, tease, and steady each other. Marriage has made them a two-person crime Roomba, gently bumping into suspects until the truth falls out from under the furniture.
Shirley remains a menace in human form, and I support her constitutional right to barge into any scene and make it 40 percent louder. Daisy is also quietly becoming more interesting, not in a “look, the teen has a subplot” way, but in that very real way kids absorb everything adults think they’re hiding. She’s been raised around murder, catering, gossip, and strong opinions. Of course she’s taking notes. And Germaine is there serving emotional support Pomeranian with a side of logistical inconvenience, which is exactly the job description.
The mystery is tight, twisty, and more satisfying than my last visit with Jodie in The Cornish Christmas Pantomime Murder. That one had festive theatrical madness, and I respected the glitter-covered commitment to nonsense, but The Cornish Honeymoon Murder feels sharper. The island setting does not play around. Everyone is trapped, everyone has motives, everyone suddenly starts acting like they’ve never met the concept of honesty, and the victim is the kind of person who leaves behind a suspect list longer than a CVS receipt.
What I really liked is that it keeps the cozy charm without sanding off the ugly bits. There’s humor, food, family bickering, seaside atmosphere, and enough resort luxury to make me resent my own throw pillows, but underneath all that are some nasty little truths about greed, entitlement, power, and the way certain people treat others when they think consequences are for peasants. The book doesn’t turn into a lecture. It just lets the rot stink a little through the expensive linen.
There is a tiny middle stretch where the plot does that locked-island shuffle, where suspects get questioned, secrets get rotated, and everyone acts shocked that the obviously suspicious person is suspicious. But it never loses me, because Jodie’s voice keeps the whole thing moving, and Shirley is always one poorly timed comment away from turning an investigation into dinner theater. I suspected basically everyone at some point, including people who were probably just standing near a door, which is exactly where I need to be emotionally during a cozy mystery.
This was fun, fast, warm, stormy, and just mean enough under the niceness to give the mystery teeth. It made me want to go back and read the series from the beginning like a responsible person, which is devastating news for my TBR and my sleep schedule. 4.5 stars for The Cornish Honeymoon Murder, a book that proves the only thing more dangerous than a secluded luxury resort is bringing your mother on an undercover honeymoon.
Whodunity Award: For Turning a Romantic Island Getaway Into Clue With Better Snacks and Worse Wi-Fi
Huge thanks to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for the ARC of The Cornish Honeymoon Murder, and for continuing to enable my deeply unserious belief that every vacation should come with champagne, family chaos, and a manageable number of corpses.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Fiona Leitch is the tenth book in the Nosey Parker Cozy Mystery series. Business man and philanthropist Isaac Barnes calls Jodie Parker. He has a new eco-resort, Green Palms, on the fictional island of St Lides in the Isles of Scilly in Cornwall, England. They’ve been experiencing problems that could be sabotage and wants her and her husband Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Withers to go undercover as a honeymoon couple at the resort. (They’ve been married for a year now.) Shirley, Jodie’s mom convinces Isaac to let her and the rest of the family come too. This includes Jodie’s teenage daughter Daisy and their dog Germaine.
Jodie and Nathan plan to enjoy the offerings at the resort while questioning the staff and guests. There is a soft opening with only a few guests for this week. However, a strong storm traps everyone on the island with no internet or phone capacity and a guest is found dead in the wreckage of the boathouse. With no outside help for a few days, it’s up to Jodie and Nathan to solve both mysteries.
Jodie’s sense of humor and warmth continues to shine in this story. She is a likeable and friendly character with a need to investigate that I continued to connect with. She’s an ex-Metropolitan Police sergeant and still occasionally consults with the local police in their hometown of Penstowan. Nathan is not as rigid as he was originally. The Parkers have influenced him over time. Shirley is hilarious as usual, and Daisy shows an interest in investigations as well. Their Pomeranian Germaine continues to add cuteness and stress relief at various times.
Readers are immediately drawn into the story. It is atmospheric, but due to the “closed island” aspect of the story, it seemed to drag in the middle. The guests are interesting and cover a wide variety of the wealthy. The plot is twisty and has a few surprises along the way. Secrets and lies abound. Additionally, the possible motives for the murder leads to plenty of suspects. Can Jodie and Nathan solve the murder and the sabotage mysteries before another death occurs?
Overall, this is an entertaining story with great characterization that quickly drew me into Jodie’s world. It was a fun, appealing, and delightful read with a solid mystery to unravel and humor sprinkled throughout. Relationships continue to play a major role in this series. A recipe is included at the end of the book. I recommend the series to those that enjoy the genre. It was a fun and relaxing read and I can’t wait for the next book featuring Jodie and her family and friends.
HarperCollins UK – One More Chapter and Fiona Leitch provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set June 26, 2026. ----------------------------- My 3.87 rounded to 4 stars review is coming soon.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Fiona Leitch is another the Jodie and Nathan series. They are now married and everything is going well. Someone they’d know in the past called to say he was invested heavily in a new resort where there had been some sabotage going on. He invited them to take a second honeymoon and investigate undercover. Of course Jodie’s mom and her daughter, as well as the dog were invited. It was a truly amazing place, all green construction and houseware, as well as mostly locally-sourced food. Their menu had been designed by a famous TV chef. It all seemed fine. It was a soft opening so there weren’t a lot of guests: an MP and her husband, an influencer touting green and her boyfriend, a rich and obnoxious man, a reporter, the chef, and a few others. All seemed to be going well. They discovered some graffiti on the heliport and quickly determined someone had paid an employee. Then came the storm warnings. Seldom did tornados it the coast of Cornwall, but this might be the exception. But, the resort seemed prepared.
This was a good mystery, as Nathan pointed out, precipitated by people not doing something when the had a chance, repeatedly. After the storm there was no internet, so no phones. They were in touch with the mainland by radio. There was a death, but was it murder? Nathan has calmed his idea of justice and investigating since being exposed to his wife. Jodie is as curious as ever. Jodie’s mom is still as irascible as always. The peripheral characters are interesting and well-written. While there were not many guests; there was a lot of staff, so a lot of interviews. It was a good investigation, full of twists and turns, and interviewees lying. So, no thing new, really. Always a good read when Jodie Parker is present.
I was invited to read The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #HarperCollinsUKOneMoreChapter #FionaLeitch #TheCornishHoneymoonMurders
Whenever I’m in the mood for a light and cozy mystery, I turn to the Nosey Parker series. They feel like I’m visiting with old friends. Despite the murders, the books are warm and humorous and full of fun characters.
If you’re unfamiliar with the series, Jodie “Nosey” Parker is a retired London police sargent who has returned to her hometown in Cornwall after her divorce. She’s started a catering company, and often ends up investigating murders on the side. Her mum Shirley, daughter Daisy, and dog Germain often join her. Her husband DCI Nathan Withers usually joins in on the investigations too.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder sees Jodie and Nathan on their honeymoon at a new luxurious island eco-resort, despite the fact that they’ve been married for a year already. They’ve been invited by the resort’s owner to do some undercover investigating, as he fears someone has been sabotaging the things. Shirley, Daisy, and Germain manage to tag along somehow. Soon, a fierce storm overtakes the island, stranding the guests and staff. When the storm breaks and cleanup begins, a dead body is found in the boathouse wreckage. It looks like murder, but fortunately, Nathan and Jodie are on the case.
Jodie often does a lot of cooking in her books, so her creations are often a big part of the stories. As she’s on honeymoon in this one, she’s eating food prepared by the resort staff. But there there’s still a lot of food, and I’m happy to see vegetarian and vegan food represented in a positive light. The book ends, as they always do, with one of Jodie’s recipes.
This is the tenth book in the Nosey Parker series. I’ve read most, but not all, of the series. It would probably be helpful to have read others before reading The Cornish Honeymoon Murder, but it’s not necessary.
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the arc.
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the arc!
Last year I binged the ‘Nosey Parker’ series by Fiona Leitch in about 2 weeks, so as soon as the approval request for The Cornish Honeymoon Murder arrived in my inbox, I dropped my current read and jumped straight back into this wonderfully bonkers series.
We’re back with ex-metropolitan police officer, Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker and her band of crazy and funny misfits aka her family. Husband, DCI Nathan Withers, daughter Daisy, mum Shirley, and dog Germaine (who is the star of the series imo). The series as a whole follows Jodie’s return to her hometown in Cornwall after retiring from the Met and each book follows a different murder-mystery scenario which Jodie can’t help but stick her nose into. This particular instalment sees Jodie and Nathan on their honeymoon at a luxury eco-resort off the coast of Cornwall but they’re actually undercover trying to help the resorts owner investigate a series of sabotages before the resort opens up fully to the public. Everything seems to be going well until someone ends up dead and the sabotage pranks appear to have transpired into something more sinister.
This was so much fun. I love this series so much as I find it’s the perfect cosy crime whilst still being funny and having interesting plots and twists. It was very Agatha Christie/Murder on the Orient Express vibes but if Agatha Christie was a tea obsessed Cornish woman with a crazy Pomeranian. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun and easy read in between more intense series or just want a starting point for a cosy crime!
If there's one book I know I'm going to enjoy the moment I pick it up, it's a Jodie Parker mystery.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder is the tenth book in the series, and somehow Fiona Leitch still manages to keep these cosy mysteries feeling fresh, funny and incredibly comforting. This time, Jodie and Nathan are supposed to be enjoying their honeymoon at a luxurious eco-resort on a secluded Cornish island. Of course, this is Jodie and Nathan, so instead of relaxing, they're secretly investigating a series of sabotages before finding themselves trapped on the island with a murderer after a deadly storm.
One of my favourite things about this series has always been the characters. Jodie and Nathan are such a genuinely lovely couple, and I adore their relationship. They're supportive, witty and completely believable together, which gives the series so much heart. As always, Shirley and Daisy steal plenty of scenes, bringing humour and warmth that perfectly balance the murder mystery. And I can never forget Germaine!
The mystery itself kept me guessing, and the isolated island setting added just the right amount of tension without ever losing that cosy feel the series does so well.
These books are pure comfort reading for me. They're clever without being dark, funny without becoming silly, and full of characters I genuinely look forward to catching up with each time a new book is released. Reading them feels like spending time with old friends while trying to solve a murder over a cup of tea.
If you're looking for escapism in the best possible way, with charming characters, an engaging mystery and plenty of laughs along the way, I can't recommend this series highly enough.
Everyone always says that your honeymoon should be a holiday to remember. Ex-Metropolitan Police sergeant Jodie Parker and her new husband, DCI Nathan Withers, are honeymooning at a luxurious eco-resort on a secluded Cornish island. However it’s a busman’s holiday as they're undercover, as the resort’s owner has hired them to investigate a series of sabotages, and Jodie's mum Shirley and daughter Daisy plus their dog, Germaine, have somehow managed to get themselves invited along too. The happy couple plan to make the most of the five star facilities, while discreetly questioning staff and guests. However, when a fierce storm traps everyone on the island, tragedy strikes, a guest is found dead in the wreckage of the boathouse, and it looks like murder. The tenth outing for Jodie, Nathan, Shirley, Daisy & not forgetting Germaine & another thoroughly enjoyable cosy mystery. I love Jodie, she’s nosy but she’s also intelligent & has empathy for people. I love how her relationship with Nathan has changed over the series, I love the chemistry & the banter between them. Shirley is wonderful & adds a good dash of humour to the stories, Daisy is growing up & looks to be following in her mother’s footsteps. The case is intriguing & the victim is revealed to be a right piece of work. There are a few suspects & each one has at least one secret. The icing on the cake for me was how Nathan handled the denouement. A very entertaining book & of course a delicious recipe at the end I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
This was my first experience of the Nosy Parker Mysteries and it's safe to say I'm officially hooked!
When Jodie - an ex Met police sergeant - and her husband DCI Nathan are asked to investigate a potential saboteur trying to take down a luxury, eco-friendly island resort, the last thing they expect is to be investigating a murder.
I really enjoyed the setting with guests being trapped after a ruthless storm rolls through the island. It set things up perfectly for some close quarters tension and heightened emotions as they're questioned one by one, and slowly dark pasts are uncovered and endless secrets come to light. You can tell Jodie and Nathan really know their stuff as they're interviewing guests and doing a sweep of the crime scene, and I found myself getting completely sucked in to their investigation, eagerly awaiting their final conclusion.
Despite the murder at hand, this was a surprisingly funny and light-hearted book and I loved every second of it. Being in Jodie's head was an absolute hoot. She's such an effortlessly funny and witty character, full of so much zest of life and a real charm about her that you can't help but smile at. There's truly never a dull moment when Jodie's involved.
Meanwhile, Nathan is the more cool, calm, and collected one of the two, but even he can't resist getting swept away by Jodie's energy and enthusiasm, and it was a real joy to follow along with their investigation and seeing how perfectly they work together and bounce off of one another.
This was really the perfect book to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and get completely lost in, and if you're a fan of murder mysteries, with some very Agatha Christie vibes, I highly recommend The Cornish Honeymoon Murder!
Trigger warning - Please be aware that there are mentions of SA and DV, so please be mindful of that if you're sensitive to either of these topics.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder is a charmingly chaotic slice of cozy crime — warm, witty, and threaded with just enough danger to keep your pulse gently elevated. Jodie Parker and Nathan Withers should be sinking into newlywed bliss, but instead their luxury eco‑resort honeymoon comes with an undercover assignment… and, in true Jodie fashion, an unexpected entourage of mum, daughter, and the ever‑entertaining Germaine the dog.
The island setting is irresistible: all glassy waters, five‑star indulgence, and that faint hum of something not quite right beneath the surface. When a fierce storm rolls in and traps everyone together, the atmosphere tightens beautifully. The moment a guest is found dead in the wreckage of the boathouse, the resort’s glossy calm fractures, and the mystery begins to unfurl with satisfying momentum.
Leitch balances humour and tension with her usual lightness of touch. Jodie and Nathan’s dynamic is tender and teasing, grounded even as they navigate sabotage, secrets, and a killer who’s growing bolder by the hour. The supporting cast brings colour and mischief, especially Shirley and Daisy, who manage to be both exasperating and oddly endearing.
It’s clever, cozy, and wonderfully atmospheric — the literary equivalent of curling up indoors while a storm batters the windows. A delightful addition to the series, and one that left me smiling as much as sleuthing.
With thanks to Fiona Leitch, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC
I always look forward to a new book in the Nosey Parker series and this latest adventure for Jodie and her now husband, DI Nathan Withers did not disappoint. This time, Jodie and Nathan have been given the gift of a honeymoon in a luxury Eco Resort on an island off the coast of Cornwall. The reason is that the owner wants them to investigate some mysterious mishaps which could possibly be the work of someone trying to sabotage the hotel. Shortly after their arrival, the island is cut off from the mainland by a violent storm and then a body is discovered. This was another fascinating mystery. The Eco Resort and the island were a great setting and the storm really added atmosphere to the story. The dead body proved to be someone that quite a few people could have wanted to see dead and so the pool of suspects was quite large. It was an interesting selection of characters and unlike most of the previous novels, didn’t involve any of Jodie’s friends or neighbours. However we were reunited with a couple of characters from the very first novel which was fun. I enjoyed the mystery with its well plotted twists and turns and in an echo of Agatha Christie, it was solved in a grand reveal where all of the suspects were gathered together which worked brilliantly. The Cornish Honeymoon Murder is another great addition to this series and I am very grateful to Net Galley and the publishers ,Harper Collins UK for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you very much to Harper Collins for sending me an advanced copy of The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Fiona Leitch, which is available from the 2nd July 2026. I have not read any of Fiona's books before and this is the 10th book in the series.
We meet up with ex met police sergeant Jodie Parker and her new husband DCI Nathan Withers who are about to go on honeymoon to a rather fancy, new, luxurious eco resort on a secluded Cornish Island. But all is not as it would seem, they are actually undercover and have been asked by the resort's owner to investigate a series of alleged sabotages which have occurred on the island. Added to the fact that Jodie's mum, daughter and dog have managed to also be invited, means that Jodie and Nathan are not going to get much of a honeymoon. Once on the island a storm is set to hit, and in the aftermath a body is discovered. It looks like murder and it is up to the duo to find out who committed the murder.
I have not read any of the books in the series but have to say that this did not spoil my enjoyment of the novel. It is a stand alone book, which I enjoyed reading. I liked the setting, the characters and it had an Agatha Christie like quality to the novel, as each person on the island had an issue with the deceased, and could be a suspect. It had a nice fast pace, it left me wanting to keep reading to find out what happened. A great cosy crime story and I now have another crime series to read.
Jodie Parker and husband, DCI Nathan Withers have been asked by a local business owner to look into acts of sabotage happening at his new eco-resort in the Scilly Isles. Alongside Jodie's mum, Shirley, daughter, Daisy, and dog, Germaine, the happy couple will be working undercover while combining business with the honeymoon they hadn't had yet. Unfortunately, the island is in the path of a bad storm and by the time the worst is over they have a death to investigate as well! Cut off from the mainland can they find out who is responsible before anything else happens?
I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers Harper Collins, One More Chapter, but the opinions expressed are my own. I thoroughly enjoyed this and definitely think I could cope with a little eco-friendly luxury myself! The author's notes show she has carried out extensive research and without any spoilers some of what she has to say is pretty horrific. There is also a recipe included which doesn't seem at all horrific but instead sounds delicious! This is a cosy series which is like a hug, I love the main protagonists and the locations. If you're new to this series I would suggest reading them in order even though there are very few if any spoilers just because they are so good. Highly recommended. More please.
The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Fiona Leitch is book 10 in the Nosey Parker series. It is published on 26 June. Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the early copy. This is a fabulous series and if you haven’t read any of the books, start from book 1. The back story and the development of the characters will make it a more enjoyable series, even though each book is a complete adventure. Jodie and Nathan, Jodie’s partner and a DCI, are at a luxury eco-resort on a small island off the coast of Cornwall, supposedly on their honeymoon, although they have been married for over a year. In reality, they are undercover at the request of the owner, to see if there is any truth to the owner’s suspicions that there is sabotage going on. This is made difficult due to a huge storm approaching, and then a tragedy. There is always humour in these books and some lovely dishes as Jodie has her own catering business, although she used to be a police officer. It is very easy reading and so very enjoyable, although there was some scary environmental things talked about. The characters are relatable and easy to like. They are very down to earth, and Jodie’s Mum, Shirley, is such a delight. The characters are what draw me back to this series, and also the humour.
This is the series that really got me into UK cosy crime, and it is still keeping me as hooked as the first book! The Nosy Parker in question is Jodie Parker, a past police officer, current caterer, wife to DI Nathan Withers, and somehow a murder sleuth! Okay, so it's not everywhere she goes, but somehow, once or twice a year, she finds herself embroiled in a murder investigation. So much so that the local police force, knowing her background and excellent deductive skills, has unofficially got her on their books! And it appears that nowhere is sacred! Even her honeymoon. It starts a bit unconventionally anyway, as Jodie's mother and daughter, along with her dog, Germaine, accompany them. They are at the soft opening of a new sustainable luxury resort on one of the Cornish Isles, and though there are some questionable characters, everything is fine. Until it isn't. Find someone with a grudge or motive, or possibly several people, and some inclement weather, and you are in for a treat! I love how there are comedic moments throughout, as well as the real feel of traditional whodunnits of the past, meaning that though there is murder, there is also lightness to it. I really do enjoy these stories, and long may they continue!
Ex-Metropolitan Police Sergeant Jodie Parker and her new husband, DCI Nathan Withers, are honeymooning at a luxurious eco-resort on a secluded Cornish Island. I've quite enjoyed this cosy murder mystery series. I also love books that are set anywhere in Cornwall. The pace is steady and the characters are well-developed. There is some humour thrown into the mix. This was a quick and easy read and a great last addition to the series. This book could be read as a standalone.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #HarperCollinsUK #OneMoreChapter and the author #FionaLeitch for my ARC of #TheCornishHoneymoonMurder in exchange for an honest review.
Jodie and Nathan are invited to a new Eco resort in the Scilly Isles. They take it as a delayed honeymoon, only a year late, but are going to investigate some sabotage that has been happening before the full opening. The journey there is delayed and they find out later that a boat had been tampered with. The couple that join them on the boat were meant to have arrived at the resort by helicopter and on investigation when they finally get to the resort, they find out that it had been vandalised.
The weather turns and a storm is predicted. The few guests that are there are given the choice of staying in their rooms or riding out the storm in the hub of the hotel. Most guests chose this. When one half of a couple isn’t there, and his body is found the next morning in the boathouse buried under the rubble, it is thought that it was an accident that killed him.
However, when it is discovered that he was murdered, there are a lot of people that had reason to want him dead. With no one able to leave the island, Jodie, Nathan, Daisy, Shirley and Germaine the dog, have their work cut out finding out what happened.
DCI Nathan Withers and his wife Jodie have been asked by an old friend to act as ‘mystery shoppers’ at the soft opening of an exclusive eco-resort in the Scilly Isles, their cover being their honeymoon. Of course, Jodie’s mother, daughter and the family dog come too! There are concerns about minor acts of sabotage at the resort which could affect its reputation and success. Fellow guests include a Cabinet Minister with her husband, a reporter and a popular eco-warrior influencer together with her rich Greek boyfriend. Shortly after everyone arrives a bad storm hits the island causing damage to the boathouse. Whilst clearing it up a dead body is found. No help is available from the mainland so it’s up to Nathan and Jodie to start investigating what turns out to be a murder.
This the first book I’ve read by this author and it can be read as a standalone, but I certainly intend to read more in the series. I really enjoyed the style of writing and the humour throughout. Wish I’d come across this author earlier.
Thanks to Net Galley and Harper Collins (One More Chapter) for an ARC for my honest review.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, One More Chapter, for letting me read and review an advanced copy of ‘The Cornish Honeymoon Murder’ by Fiona Leitch.
Who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to have a late honeymoon at a new 5 star resort on a island off the Cornish coast. Ex police sergeant, Jodie Parker, and her husband, DCI Nathan Withers, are invited to go undercover to find who might be trying to sabotage the grand opening of the resort. They aren’t finding many clues, but a raging storm that hits the island turns up a suspicious death, and DCI Withers needs to take control. With no help from the mainland, Nathan and Jodie look for a murderer. Was it one of the quests or one of the staff that committed murder? And, will they discover who is sabotaging the opening of the resort.
I have read a few of Leitch’s books in this series and always find them engaging with the storyline and the cast of characters. This mystery solving couple eventually solves the case, but discover a whole series of events that could have prevented it.
Jodie and Nathan, newly married, are asked by their wealthy friend to go undercover at a new eco resort, which seems to be targeted by small acts of sabotage. They go as recent newlyweds and take along her mom, daughter, and, of course, their dog. As soon as they arrive, they find the sabotage has amped up with spray paint on the helicopter pad and one of the resort’s boat stranded when it runs out of gas. There are plenty of interesting people on the resort from the guests to the staff. When a huge storm hits the island, a body is found in the boat shed, which has collapsed in the storm. The phones and WiFi are out and the boats are buried in the wrecked shed, so they are on their own, knowing that the murderer is on the island with them. Jodie and Nathan work well together to solve the mystery and her mom is a hoot. The mystery was well-done and I loved this book. The setting, the characters, and the mystery kept me entertained and guessing as to whodunit. Thanks to Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC.
I'm pretty sure I've added reviews for other books in this series, and they never fail to entertain me, especially Jodie, who I only wish was real so we could be friends!
In terms of leading characters, she is undoubtedly one of the best at the moment, and given that The Cornish Honeymoon Murder is book 10 in the series, that is some achievement, so hats off to Fiona Leitch.
In terms of the plot, this time around the setup is an eco‑resort on a secluded Cornish island, complete with soft‑launch guests, viral sabotage videos and the inevitable storm that cuts everyone off from the mainland, leaving a dead body in its wake.
I love the lived‑in relationships feel. Jodie’s banter with Nathan, her mum, and Daisy is warm, funny and familiar, and her inner commentary is as sharp as ever.
If you’re already a Nosey Parker fan, this is a very satisfying return; if you’re new, it will probably send you straight back to book one.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read The Cornish Honeymoon Murder by Fiona Leitch in exchange for my honest opinion.
Fiona Leitch always seems to find a new and inventive adventure for her main characters Jodie Parker and Nathan Withers to test their deductive abilities against. Jodie and Nathan are on their honeymoon at an exclusive eco-resort. And they are undercover looking for a saboteur. And they brought Daisy, Jodie’s Mum and Germaine the dog along. I mean you can tell this isn’t going to be a romantic tale, can’t you? A big storm hits the island and the next morning a body is found. Was it an accident or murder. The build up to finding a body took a little while. I didn’t engage as fully with the book as I usually do with a Nosey Parker mystery, but the author drew me back in with the puzzle of who was responsible for the not so nice young man’s death. I suppose you could read this as a stand-alone, but I don’t think you’ll get a full picture of the zaniness that is this series unless you read earlier books. Thanks to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the opportunity to read a pre-release copy of the book.
A honeymoon trip, violent storm and a murder onboard! Certainly a trip to remember!!
The story follows Nathan & Jodie who are on their second honeymoon and enjoying some time off from their busy lives where they both Investigate crimes. They aren't alone, though!Their family is just as excited to join them for a relaxing getaway. But! Just when they thought they were safe to unwind, a storm traps them down in the island and someone is murdered! Being the only detectives onboard, the hunt to find the murderers falls into the hands of the honeymooning couple.
This is a case of classic who-dun-it! It has major Agatha Christie mysteries vibe however,I often felt that there were too many details ,some of which weren’t needed. Also,I love mysteries where the ending leave me stumped but sadly this story didn’t do that to me.
All in all, A beginner-friendly whodunit with a wonderful touch of our OG queen Agatha Christie.
In this the latest in the series Jodie and Nathan take a delayed honeymoon at an exclusive island resort, somehow accompanied by Jodie's mother and daughter and not forgetting Germaine the dog. They are there undercover trying to find out who had been sabotaging the resort, but things change when a storm hits the island and the next day a body is found. I have'nt read all of the series, but have really enjoyed those I have, but it isn't essential to have read any of them before. There are so many twists and turns the question seems to be more who hadn't carried out the killing, rather than who had done the deed with a plethora of suspects, all with a motive. It is light hearted, with a great cast of characters, but with so many twists and turns the answer isn't clear until right at the end. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
An unexpected Investigation request takes Jodie and Nathan to the Isles of Scilly and a new eco resort. Jodie's mum, daughter and cute dog get an invite too, so there's plenty of antics and humour as well as a well-paced mystery to solve. The couple hope that their subtle investigations will allow them plenty of time to enjoy the luxury facilities, as they never really had a honeymoon after their recent marriage. The setting has an authentic feel and lends itself to a closed-room murder vibe when a storm makes leaving the isle impossible. There are numerous suspects, all with motives, and as the investigation progresses, opportunity and means too. It has contemporary themes, and the conclusion is believable and satisfying. I enjoy the dynamic between Jodie and Nathan, the cast of complex characters, and the engaging mix of humour and mystery that keeps you invested in the story. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
