Just For Christmas

Rate this book
It’s only temporary holiday magic

Brent

Life has taught me not to get attached to anyone because they’ll only let you down but I can’t stop myself from falling in love with my roommate and frat brother the moment we meet. It’s been three years and not only do I secretly pine for him, but now he’s also my very best friend. My first real friend.

Nothing can possibly go wrong when I agree to be his fake boyfriend for the holidays, right? I know I’m putting my heart on the line but it’ll just be a bit of hand-holding. My heart can survive that…

Rafe

I know my mother will get off my back about settling down if I bring home a partner so I recruit my best friend into becoming my fake boyfriend. It’ll be fun, easy, and a great holiday without all the subtle hints from my parents.

One kiss under the mistletoe changes everything and the childhood make believe suddenly morphs into so much more. There’s only one problem - this arrangement is only for Christmas and then we’re back to being only friends when we return to school.

I didn’t plan to fall in love with Brent Mitchell… I don’t know what to do now that he’s acting like I don’t exist.

Crea lives in upstate New York with her dog and husband. She has been writing since grade school, when her second grade teacher had her class keep writing journals. She has a habit of creating secondary, and often time tertiary, characters that take over her stories. When she can't fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center - and utterly swoon-worthy! Don't ask her how many book boyfriends she has...

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don't even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping. Crea loves to sleep!

I did not expect this book to get under my skin the way it did. Rafe and Brent completely owned my heart. The way Rafe takes care of Brent without even realizing how deeply he’s already in love with him?
That made me a sappy bitch.
There’s something so intimate about quiet consistency, and Rafe is that person for Brent from the very beginning.

Brent’s story hit hard. Being disowned, carrying that loneliness, and still being soft and open despite it all felt painfully real. Watching him be welcomed into a chosen family, not because he earned it but because he deserved it, made me emotional in a way I wasn’t prepared for. Those moments mattered just as much as the heat.

And don’t get me wrong, the chemistry is insane. The tension, the longing, the moments where everything feels like it’s about to snap? Delicious. The spice was bold, confident, and absolutely unhinged at times, but it never lost the emotional thread. This wasn’t just sex for the sake of sex. It was desire mixed with trust, vulnerability, and love.

This book made me feel safe, turned on, and emotionally compromised all at once.

Come for the smut, stay because your heart got involved without your permission.

I’m an absolute sucker for a Christmas romance like ring the sleigh bells, toss me in the tinsel, and call me Mrs. Claus because I melt every time. Throw in a broken boy, friends-to-lovers, and a found family so wholesome and suddenly you’ve mixed the perfect cocktail for a festive feast.

This story is sugary, sparkly, and downright beautiful. It’s supposed to be nothing more than temporary holiday magic just a sprinkle of fake dating to get everyone through the season. But what happens when your fake boyfriend ends up under the mistletoe?

The main characters are wonderful, the side characters are chaotic little gifts that keep on giving, and the whole thing feels like a warm hug with a spiked hot chocolate.

The spice! Holy hell. Holy glory hole. This book didn’t just raise the heat it roasted my chestnuts.

I loved it, I really did. Crea writes books like no other, and this one absolutely does not disappoint.

This was a fun Christmas read! I liked seeing Rafe’s life and all the love and acceptance he had growing up. I also enjoyed seeing this spread to Brent. With Brent growing up the way he did and spending so much of his adult life on his own due to his terrible upbringing he definitely deserved all the joy, kindness and support he received from Rafe and his family. Watching their dynamic change in such a comfortable way was sweet to see. I loved Rafe’s family and the found family. I’m interested in what may be next.

Amazing book, just like Crea’s other books in this series. I was counting the days before it came out but then realized I could get it earlier by buying directly from her website.

So I got myself a PayPal account (because somehow even payment providers have opinions and she can’t use any other anymore because of her earlier books??? WTF is happening to the world where the worst moneymaking companies in the world think they should have opinions about books???) and it got delivered right away.

Go follow my great example and buy this book. Give this author the Christmas she deserves for providing us with her amazing books, even though the world is treating her like she shouldn’t.

The book itself is my least favorite trope, but in her hands I dig it anyway. They’re best friends, they fake the relationship but not really, they’re AMAZING together. And there’s a lot of love. So much love.
Of course there’s the little misunderstanding. And of course extremely strange family dynamics (marriage contracts?) and so much wealth. But that’s always some part of Crea’s world and it always opens my eyes a bit more.

Great book, lovely Christmas atmosphere, Mo makes a wonderful comeback. It’s all very good.
🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Will reread and definitely recommend 😄

As always Crea did it. She really did it.

I am not necessarily a holiday novels kinda girlie, but this one... uff... the way this book starts had me laughing and the temperature rising.

These two... uff... the spice was spicing. Big time.

This was supposed to be a holiday fake boyfriends situation, but when mistletoe is involved all bets are off.

Crea has a way of writing her stories, and this one is not different, a little bit of reality check mixed with emotions, sweetness, spice and all that make her books special.

I always feel at home in the Creaverse and this one is no exception.

I won't say more because I don't wanna spoil anything, but this is a must read for this holiday season.

Enjoy the holidays with Brent and Rafe.

💕 Holiday Romance
💕 Dual POV

Just for Christmas.. Brent is okay being alone. He has had no family over 6 years.. Finally has a found family and best friend, that he has a crush on over 3 years. When Rafe finds out that his best friend Brent has been spending holidays alone. He wants to give him his family. Rafe is tired of dealing with his mom's match making so asking Brent to be his fake boyfriend just for Christmas.
Remember its fake fake fake relationship. But it just feels so real. With all the hand holding, small touches, and now a kiss under the mistletoe. How can one person say no to your crush with all that happening.
This book is beautifully written, definitely has hooks and hard to put down the book in some parts but there was also parts that dragged on unnecessarily.

I didn’t plan to fall in love with Brent Mitchell… I don’t know what to do now that he’s acting like I don’t exist.

MY THOUGHTS
Friends to lovers is probably my favorite trope! These two men are adorable together, and Rafe's family is incredible. Brent is remarkably well-grounded about his own family. Both Brent and Rafe would benefit from, oh, talking to one another instead of presuming so much while they're fake dating, but they get it together without a lot of pain or angst. While they are both terrified to ruin their friendship by admitting that they have fallen for each other, that they are such good friends is also what helps them clear their hurdles in the end, because they both are willing to sacrifice the romance (obviously not necessary) to remain friends if that's what it takes.

As per usual with Crea, the sex in this book is hot, hot, hot and spicy, spicy, spicy. Brent and Rafe are also incredibly intimate and attuned to each other outside the bedroom, too. They read each others' signals well, which again is another indication that their being friends first ultimately has a positive influence on their growing romantic relationship.

BOTTOM LINE
Yet another solid entry in the Longwood U world!

Brent and Rafe have been frat brothers and secret best friends (with insane chemistry) for three years.
Brent is head over heels, painfully pining, and convinced Rafe is straight.
Rafe is clueless (or so we think) and just wants his meddling, high society parents off his back about finding “a nice partner” over Christmas break.
Solution? Drag his sweet, golden retriever roommate home as a fake boyfriend for the holidays.
What could possibly go wrong?
Everything apparently 😜

The PINING…. Brent’s quiet, aching longing is written so tenderly you’ll want to reach into the book and shake Rafe yourself.
The author nails the “I’ll take whatever scraps of affection I can get” energy without ever making Brent feel pathetic.
And Rafe’s awakening is perfection. He’s not in denial, he’s just never thought about it until one mistletoe kiss rewires his entire brain.
Watching Mr. “I’m straight, I guess?” realize he’s demisexual/Brent-sexual is chef’s kiss levels of satisfying.

Fake dating done RIGHT, forced proximity in Rafe’s fancy family mansion, one bed (naturally), dancing at the holiday gala, meeting the parents, the works. Every trope is here and executed with glee.

Spice that builds beautifully. It starts with sweet, tentative kisses and escalates to “we’re defiling every room in this house while the parents are downstairs” in the most delicious way. 😜

Third act conflict that actually hurts. There I was tissues/blanket and clucking my kindle sobbing. No ridiculous miscommunication, just two scared boys who agreed to an expiration date on something that turned terrifyingly real. The grovel is top tier.

Just For Christmas is peak comfort romance with a side of angst sharp enough to make the HEA taste like hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.
It’s warm, sexy, heartbreaking in the best way, and then puts you back together with one of the sweetest endings of the year.

If you love the “we were roommates” micro trope, mutual pining that finally explodes, and Christmas lights reflecting off bare skin, this is your book.

Clear your schedule, grab a blanket, and let Brent and Rafe ruin you for all future fake dating tropes.

Read it with tissues and maybe a locked door. You’ve been warned.

Brent is used to spending the holidays alone. Kicked out of his home when he was seventeen for being gay, he hasn’t seen his parents since. He had an elderly aunt who took him in, but she is now in assisted living. And he has an ex-uncle who he speaks to on occasion. So for Christmas, he expects to do what he always does. Stay at the dorms. But his roommate and best friend have other plans for him. Rafe never realized Brent’s family situation. He feels like an awful friend for now only seeing that Brent avoided the subject and for good reason, but he is going to make it up to Brent now. He’ll bring Brent home for Christmas to be spoiled and loved by his very big family. And before they leave Rafe comes up with a bit of a crazy idea. His mom has been especially pushy about settling down and no matter how much Rafe tells her no, she won’t hear him. So he asks Brent to he fake boyfriend for the holidays. For Brent, it’s a bit of torture. Having a crush on his best friend for a long time but never realizing that Rafe’s sexuality could swing his way. So how in the world can he keep his crush in line? And when Rafe kisses Brent for the first time, he never expects the wake up call it gives him about his best friend. These two are about to have an interesting holiday. Loved this story! I loved that Brent could finally get that full experience of what it was like to have a family around him. And it was extra special that it was a family of someone he cared about so much. I also just loved that they kind of woke up to realize what was in front of them all along. It made their love story so much sweeter to go from friends to more. Even though they were unsure if they pretending or not as the holiday went on. A really great story all around! Longwood U is proving to be a favorite of mine and I can’t wait to see who’s story is next!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"I’ve never, ever felt so damn included, welcome, and wanted in a place in my entire life." - Bent

"You’re an amazing person, Brent. One of my favorite people alive." - Rafe

Brent and Rafe are best friends and roommates. Brent has always spent the holidays alone, and Rafe realized that and asked him to spend the holidays with him and his family. He also wants Brent to be his fake boyfriend. Rafe has a big and warm family, who immediately let Brent know that he's now part of the family. This is supposed to be a fake relationship, but a mistletoe changes things.

They have 10 days to explore each other and spend time with the family before they return to college. They trust each other during the time that they explore kinky things but have a hard time talking about their feelings; they just need more time for that. I love that Rafe could be vulnerable and show Brent what his fantasies are, and I love that Brent found the courage to invite the family that he still speaks to, his uncles (Ellsworth's book, For I Have S!nn€d). I'm so glad that Brent feels loved by this wonderful family; he deserves all the love that there is. I'm glad that Rafe made sure to include him in everything. Even though there were some heavy subjects being discussed, it was still a cozy book. Mo and Edin were there too!! And the guys were so happy to see them and help Mo with her homework. I love that little family so much. (Edin & Elijah's book: Wicked Confessions).

I received an ARC copy of this book.

Once again, we are back and longwood University and the Omega Fraternity. This book was full of heartwarming moments, and the steam was off the charts. This is Brent and Rafe's story and what a story it was. They are roommates and best friends. Brent's family was awful and when he came out, they disowned him. He has been trying to everything on his own as he learned from a young age to never rely on anyone. They always leave. Brent has had feelings for Rafe for years but kept it to himself. When Rafe finally finds out that Brent is all alone, he decides to take him home for Christmas. Rafe's family is perfect all except they have a tradition of contract marriages, and it is time for Rafe to accept it. He is not ready for marriage, so he convinces Brent to be his fake boyfriend. When one kiss changes everything. I loved everything about this book as Rafe's family truly accepted Brent and brough him in with open arms. The love and acceptance they showed was beautiful and watching these two fall totally in love was magical. The connection and chemistry were intense and off the charts. Seeing Brent show Rafe how to be vulnerable and ask for what he wanted was perfect. They have some ups and downs as communication doesn't come easy for either of them as they don't want to lose each other or their friendship. I devoured it from start to finish. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

This is definitely a case of a Hallmark movie in book form... if Hallmark movies had fraternities that ran sex parties that features glory holes (it's a wild ride).

Rafe and Brent are frat brothers and roommates, so you just know the pining is there from the beginning, and I love as it all unfolded.

What I love most about Rafe is that he's never labelled who he is or who/what he likes, he just does. But along with that, he cares and he loves, and he just wants to make everyone around him happy. I love that a fake-dating ploy not only had him open his eyes to Brent, but I love that it gave Brent the family he didn't know he was craving.

Brent, my poor bby. Honestly, this was one of the best happily ever after's bestowed upon a character; he deserved everything good after his life before Longwood U, and I loved his conversations with his uncle through the story.

Rafe's family was a hoot. I love that it's filled with so many characters - won't lie, Grandma was my favourite - but you didn't get confused as to who was who. The Creaverse is certainly present once more here, and it brings that little extra to the story that we have character crossovers and name-drops.

This is definitely one of Reitan's spicier books, and I was here for it. Whilst spicy, it was sweet and romantic, and could melt even the frostiest of hearts at this time of year - what can I say, I'm a sucker for a kiss under the mistletoe.

As always, loved this entry in the wider Creaverse, and can't wait to see what (or who) we get to see next.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

Just for Christmas ticks all the boxes for a great holiday read - friends to lovers, fake dating, one bed, holiday trip, found family and lots of spice! It does delve into some heavy subjects - death of a spouse, hate disguised as Christian love and parental disowning. I thought these subjects were handled really well and they didn't drag the story into a deep, dark place but they did help us learn more about the various characters in the story.

The story starts off right before the start of the winter break and the guys of the Omega Xi Lambda fraternity are planning their holiday orgy party - glory holes included! Rafe and Brent have been roommates for the last two years and when Rafe finds out that Brent doesn't have anywhere to go for the holidays, he decides to kill two birds with one stone by inviting Brent to join him at his family's house and asks Brent to pose as his fake boyfriend as Rafe's mother has starting making plans for him to meet the nice girls in the neighborhood. Brent agrees and learns what life is like when you have a family that accepts you just as you are. When a kiss under the mistletoe seems to unlock hidden feelings, the guys have to decide if this relationship is Just for Christmas.

Rafe and Brent were the hottest yet absolute sweetest. I just know anything that Crea writes, I am going to devour.

Brent and Rafe are roommates who also happen to be best friends who also happen to go home together for the holidays and end up falling madly in love. Ok, ok, ok, maybe not that quick but one thing leads to another and the next thing these two know they are secretly dating and things get pretty heated.

I really enjoyed watching these two fall in love. They had a lot, I mean ALOT ALOT of spicy hot delicious moments. There were also so many sweet heartwarming moments as well. A perfectly balanced holiday read.

Rafe has the best family. They are so supportive and accept Brent with open arms. I was kicking my feet and so giddy that Brent finally got the love and support of a family after his own disowned him (bunch of asshats, if you ask me).

I love how Crea creates these worlds that you can just get lost in. I can't wait for the next installment at Longwood Uni.

We're back at the Omega fraternity at Longwood University. This is a holiday romance about falling in love with your best friend. Rafe & Brent are roommates in the fraternity & best friends. Brent has a crappy family that disowned him when he came out, so Brent has been staying at the school during holidays and breaks. Once Rafe realizes this, he insists that Brent come home with him for the Christmas holiday break. Before they head there, the frat puts on a glory hole/orgy party & unbeknownst to our guys they have a little sexy fun together before they leave. Rafe's family is loving, accepting, & amazing. They immediately surround Brent with love & family. What follows is a sweet, funny, steamy, emotional holiday romance between our guys. There's a lot more to it, but I don't want to ruin any surprises. I loved these guys & their story. Would definitely recommend this book! Couldn't put it down.

This was a pleasant surprise, I didn't realise the author was doing a Christmassy Longwood U, but I loved every minute of it. Brent is only meant to be Rafe's fake boyfriend for Christmas, a plot to get Brent's family to stop setting him up with women, when he's not interested in following the family's tradition of arranged marriages.

I'm not always big on Christmassy books, especially contemporary, but this story blew me away. It's a classic friends-to-fake lovers that then becomes so much more. Brent is the sweetest, too. His family rejected him because of his sexuality, but he gains a found family in Rafe's family, who are all really accepting of him.

We even get a little cameo of Mo and Edin, which was awesome, considering that since Edin's story, he and Mo had to move out of the frat house. On the whole, it's a really feel-good story, with a happy ending that satisfies the readers.

Fake boyfriends and one bed for the Christmas holiday vacation. They are also facing their feelings for each other. Both gain so much in a short period of time.

I like the friendship between them because they value it so much. They don't want to ruin it. They trust the most intimate part of themselves with each other, I think that's amazing. For Rafe's character, I like how he is able give up control to Brent. Finally able to relax and find some peace. Then Brent was able to open up and see what a real family is like. That he can have this with Rafe. There's miscommunication about how they feel. But to me that brings them closer together. Cause they have to lay out their feelings. I love the fact that they have a family that supports and loves them and cares so much.

Crea wrote another amazing book. That has love, support, and a found family. I cannot wait to see what else they write next in this series.

Fake Boyfriends, Real Feelings, and One Kiss That Ruins Everything (In the Best Way)

Tropes: Fake dating, friends-to-lovers, pining MMC, frat brothers, holiday romance, miscommunication

Review:
Brent has been secretly in love with his roommate and best friend Rafe for three years. So agreeing to be his fake boyfriend for the holidays? Yeah… that’s emotional suicide waiting to happen.
Rafe just wants to keep his mother off his back, but one mistletoe kiss flips everything. Suddenly the pretend relationship feels way too real—and when they return to school, Rafe panics and Brent shuts down.
What works: Soft pining, Christmas coziness, and a friends-to-lovers payoff that hits just right.
What might not: Miscommunication gets prickly.
A sweet, angsty holiday romance where best friends finally stop pretending.

Just For Christmas is book four of the Longwood U Series.

One of my favourite tropes is fake dating and I loved this one. Brent has been in love with his best friend, Rafe, for three years. To get his parents off his back, Rafe decides he's going to say he is dating someone. And who does he choose besides his best friend, Brent. By them being even closer during the holidays, we see more feelings develop and a possible future develop. However, as they only agreed it would be for Christmas, Brent doesn't want to get hurt even more, so he pulls away. I felt bad for Brent as he is always waiting for the other shoe to drop and he just needed something to go good for him. I was glad he had such a good friendship with Rafe, which made him feel more secure with his life. This was a great addition to the series.

Brent is a wonderful guy who through no fault of his own is always alone on the holidays. His family backstory is part sad, part infuriating. He expects to spend the winter holiday in the dorm just like he always does when his roommate and friend invites him home as his fake date to avoid a complicated arranged marriage meet and greet. Both guys, despite how close they are, have been keeping secrets. Rafe is still excited for Brent to come home and be spoiled by his family, though Brent is hesitant to accept on multiple levels. Brent will finally get to see how amazing Rafe’s family is, and both will have to acknowledge their feelings. The steam here is sweltering, but the sweet is on an entirely new level. These two are adorable. You can’t not want to hug them as they find their well-deserved HEA.

Heartwarming and Sweetly Steamy!

Just For Christmas is the kind of holiday romance that made me want to curl up under a blanket and never leave. Brent and Rafe’s story is so full of warmth and slow-burn tension—I was rooting for them from the first fake boyfriend moment under the mistletoe. Their chemistry? So good. I kept yelling (in my head, mostly) at them to admit their feelings already.

What got me the most was how real the emotions felt. Brent’s family drama hit close to home, and Rafe stepping in with so much patience and care just made my heart melt. The Christmas setting adds this layer of nostalgia and coziness—I swear I could almost smell gingerbread.

It’s a short read, but it didn’t feel rushed. By the end, I was grinning like an idiot and honestly, I kind of wish there was an epilogue so I could hang out with these two a little longer.

Such a sweet and spicy hot best friends to lovers, fake dating, one bed, found family, holiday romance. Rafe and Brent have been roommates and best friends for several years. Rafe has no idea how horrible Brent’s family is, but once he finds out, he insists Brent go home with him for Christmas Break. To make matters more interesting, Rafe asks Brent to be his fake boyfriend, not knowing that Brent has had a crush on him since the beginning. Thanks to some mistletoe, things get pretty spicy pretty quickly. The best part, though, is how lovely and amazing Rafe’s family is. They welcome Brent with open arms and even open their home to Brent’s uncles and cousins. Love, love, love everything about this one!!!

A Sweet Smexy Christmas Story

Yep, another 5 star ⭐️ book. This story features two frat men who are best friends and share a room together. One friend, Brent, has a crush on his roommate, Rafe, since they first met. Throughout their college life he’s never said anything and then one day Rafe ask Brent to come with him back home for Christmas. He needs a fake boyfriend. During their time at Rafe family’s home things lead into more than just best friends/fake boyfriends.
It’s a beautiful story with series subjects, found family, reconnection and falling in love. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did 🥰💜❤️

This was the perfect book to set off the Christmas reading. Brent and Rafe are roommates and friends, after finding out Brent spends his holidays alone every year Rafe insists Brent come home with him for Christmas. Unknowing that Brent has been crushing on him for years, Rafe asks Brent to be his fake boyfriend to get his mom off his back. Now this works out a little better than either of them expected.

Some of my favorite scenes: the glory hole, that was so hot! The mistletoe, the orgasm marathon. Loved them all. And Rafe’s family, the entire setting and traditions just make the story so much more lovely. Another amazing addition to ever expending world created by Crea. I will never get enough of these books.

Just For Christmas is a sweet (and spicy) holiday themed novella set in Crea Reitan's Longwood U universe. It features two OXL frat brothers that have been roommates for a few years while one of them had a crush on the other. Long story short, they go away for the holidays to Rafe's family home as fake boyfriends and I'm sure you can figure out how it ends. It's a nice story overall that starts in a definitely unique way I was so not expecting, but also full of Christmas magic and traditions. I'm not kidding when I say that Rafe's family takes Christmas very seriously. So if you're in the mood for some seasonnal reading, definetely give this novella a shot!

Absolutely loved this book. Crea really brought the magic of Christmas throughout this story. Rafe and Brent were also perfection. I loved watching their 'fake' relationship blossom into something more. I also loved meeting the members of Rafe's family, especially his grandma. There was so much wisdom brought to these characters with learning about family. I think it was important for Brent to learn what a loving family looked like and how his family wasn't ideal for anyone. And I can't forget to mention the spice in this....holy hotness!

If you are looking to read some holiday magic then I highly recommend this!

Brent and Rafe decide to take the plunge into the fake boyfriend to survive the judgmental questions of the holiday season. The problem? They're roommates, frat brothers, and already secretly in love with each other.

This book has plenty of pining, witty internal monologues, and the inevitable, explosive moment when their temporary arrangement turns into something real. It’s the perfect blend of drama, holiday fluff, and spice.

Wow this was so disappointing.

If you go for insta everything please make it a novella.. it was painful and loooooonnnggg and so many descriptions for everything ..

I’m amazed I got to 90%. The first kiss was fine but rushed, the spice was fine but a hundred times of the same is so boring. We don’t know them at all either I feel like I know their friends and family more.

The chemistry was off and it felt so childish

This doesn’t represent the author’s work and I’ll continue feeding her books but this was so bad

just for Christmas

Brent and Rafe’s story. There was one particular part where I was laughing so hard when I realized what the glory hole was. I know I actually turned red when I kept on reading. I loved the fact that Rafe’s family was so accepting of his and Brent’s relationship. Though it was fake but for Brent , Rafe had always had a piece of his heart even if he had bio clue. When their fake relationship starts getting real the steamy scenes between them were a constant. I really enjoyed their story .
