If there’s one thing Ivy has learned through the years, it’s that love is never simple.
Ivy Penny’s new bridal shop is in desperate need of a serious makeover—much like her dating life. With a love life that has shown more red flags than red roses in the past, Ivy has completely given up on relationships.
So nothing drives her more insane than when she meets Donovan Anderson—a grumpy but beautiful man that has the skills to fix up Vera Bridal but not to communicate. Ivy finds herself trapped in his intense allure with no end in sight, and seeing him at the bridal shop every day isn’t helping.
Naturally here comes Lee Taylor, a charming and handsome coffee shop owner with a golden disposition that can bring a smile to Ivy’s face without even trying, which confuses her even more. Between renovations, her feelings, and trying to get ready for her best friend’s wedding, everything is quickly growing to be too complicated.
Now with her life in chaos, she has to figure out if love is actually in the cards for her.
Thank you, Nicole, for this ARC! Girl, you’ve done it again! I already loved Ivy from the first book, “Baby, It’s You”, so I was already EXCITED going into this book, and it did not disappoint. You don’t have to read “Baby, It’s You” to enjoy “You Can’t Hurry Love”, but it’s strongly encouraged!
”I want to find that type of love. The patient love that carries you throughout your whole life. The type that teaches your children what that word truly means.”
I appreciate Nicole’s writing style so much. SHE’S FUNNY! My kind of funny. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve giggled or cackled out loud, (sorry for the messages, Nicole). It’s what makes our FMC, Ivy, so relatable. She’s just a girl. She’s a business owner! A strong woman! She’s so relatable in so many ways, and if you can’t relate in any way, you can admire her tough and determined personality!
Also, the timeline in this book needs to be talked about, specifically when Donovan was doing repairs to the shop, because it could’ve gotten so boring having to sit through chapters upon chapters of him doing the same thing, but Nicole did such a great job at adding the perfect amount of action and storyline, that by the time he was done with the shop, I wanted him to stay!!!
”I’m so desperately in love with you that sitting next to you right now and not having your lips on mine is killing me.”
Donovan Anderson. Our brooding, lowkey jealous, man of few words… The king of “fuck it.” I’m obsessed. I’m not going to lie, I was skeptical a bit in the beginning, because he truly is a man of few words, but as he started to open up throughout the book, it was so easy to fall in love with him! I also love the depth Nicole added to his character. I just wanted to hug him!
”I just love seeing you laugh. You’re always a ray of sunshine to be around. My Smiley.”
I do wish we got a little more from Lee. I really loved Lee, and I enjoyed his chapters, when we got one. He’s so sweet and caring, I almost wish I saw him get a bit angry at the situation (iykyk) (sorry, Ivy). He deserved to be angry at the situation, but who he is as a person, his conscious wasn’t going to let him do that. What a softy!
With that being said, I do wish we got more chapters with the guys’ POV. I wanted more from both of them, specifically Lee! But even still, this was a fun, heartfelt read, and I can’t wait for more from Nicole.
🛠️He falls first 💗Grumpy/sunshine 🛠️Love triangle 💗Multi POV 🛠️Banter
I picked this up on a whim and was surprised by how quickly it pulled me in.
I expected a light and cute read, but it delivered so much more with its blend of humor, emotion, and wonderfully chaotic tension. The writing is warm, witty, and incredibly easy to fall into, which made this such an enjoyable experience overall.
Ivy completely stole the spotlight for me. She is strong, funny, stubborn, and so easy to adore, and watching her navigate this love triangle kept me hooked even though the trope usually isn’t my thing. One side did feel a bit less developed, but the emotional payoff was still satisfying and Donovan absolutely stood out. The way everything wrapped up was messy in a real way, bittersweet, and beautifully handled.
The banter, chemistry, grumpy and sunshine energy, and heartfelt moments all came together to create a warm and charming escape. It made me smile, laugh, and stay invested from start to finish, and even as someone who avoids love triangles, I genuinely enjoyed this one.
I’m excited to see what comes next.

Grateful to Nicole Mikell & her team for the Advanced Reader Copy. All views expressed are solely my own. ✨
Love love loooveeeee!!! It was messy, emotional, it had me confused at points where I didn't even know who I was rooting for! The sexual tension was deliciousssss. Both of the MMC were amazing men, even though they were polar opposites, and it was almost an impossible decision! I felt for Ivy be I'm over here like why choose? I know, I know, get your head out of the gutter Sammi.. 😝 It was such a beautiful story, Love that all of the MCs overcame their fears, tried new things, and took risks for love. I absolutely adore getting more of the other characters and their stories! I cannot wait for the next book!!! This is becoming one of my fav contemporary romance series I've read this year! Thankyou so so much to @nicolemikellauthor for the arc! It's truly been so amazing following you and your work, you're so talented! Never stop 🩷
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **ARC READER** You Can’t Hurry Love by Nicole Mikell Author Nicole Mikell did it again! I could not put this book down. If I didn’t have to work, I would’ve finished it in one sitting! Nicole’s writing is always witty, funny, adventurous, and full of heart. You Can’t Hurry Love was no exception.
This story felt different from Baby, It’s You, but in the best way. I absolutely loved following Ivy and her love triangle. I went through all the emotions with her! I laughed, I cried, and I may have yelled “Ivy!” “Lee!” and “Donovan!” out loud more than once lol.
There was definitely more spice in this one compared to book one, and I loved every bit of it. Both books are unique, yet they complement each other perfectly. Nicole has such a great storytelling style that keeps you hooked and makes you need to know. I do recommend reading in order. I loved seeing Olive in this book! It was a better experience knowing the “inside” references from book one.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance with humor, emotion, and a dash of drama. It’s the perfect read for any time. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or sneaking in a few chapters between work breaks. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Clairsville!

It was so hard for me to decide which man I would've chosen, since both were like a dream. One had my pulse racing, the other making me say "soo cute" more than once. I would recommend this one to anyone who loves a good love triangle. Thank you for this amazing ARC!
OK, so let’s talk about this book I have put in my notes already. I think first is fast is how to build up. It took some time but eventually when we get into the store, it’s such a beautiful story. It’s a story about love. It’s a story about passion. It’s a story about being open about one’s struggles and also ensuring that one as healed before getting into a relationship which I think it’s something is very important, but even in the process of healing does that place of passion there is the undeniable chemistry which we see between the two main characters will eventually end up being together. There’s also a triangle there’s a love triangle and I’m really happy the way the book ended that we get a hint to that you know there’s gonna be a happier ever after for everyone so that was a good one. I really enjoyed reading this book. I love experience characters and it was a fun and cozy read for me and I had a good time reflecting on some of the quotes that I added to the post
Ivy runs a bridal store in Clairesville, and needs some repairs when her friend recommends Donovan, the grumpy guy she ran into a few nights before at a local bar. He's grumpy, rarely talks, and is kind of an ass, but she's drawn to him anyways. Then she meets Lee - sweet, hot, and charming. Ivy is caught between the two men - how could she possibly choose?!
I don't normally read love triangles, because I'm a why choose gal. However - I really enjoyed the emotional roller coaster of this! Donovan and Lee were both book boyfriend material, and I understand why Ivy had such a hard time trying to pick. There was a lot of emotional damage in this book, but every moment was worth the big payoff in the end. And don't worry babes - everyone gets a HEA or a HFN.
I recommend this if you enjoy emotional stories, a hard earned HEA and MCs that take the time to understand their feelings (because you can't hurry love after all 😉).
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review for You Can’t Hurry Love by Nicole Mikell
Okay but listen… I’m not a love triangle girlie 😤💔—yet Nicole had me GASPING, kicking my feet, and ignoring all my responsibilities. Could. Not. Stop. Reading.
The storyline? Addictive. Donovan? Boy, finally opened up 😭👏 Ivy? Out here thriving wayyy outside her comfort zone.
Like… THIS is what true love looks like 😭❤️
And all I’m gonna say is… Chapter 22. Fuck it. (Ifykyk 😉🔥)
ARC READ 💫 you guys, Ivy is an FMC that i genuinely think i would love to be friends with in real life- she’s so spunky, fierce, caring, loving and driven. there were so many times that i physically wanted to shake her and say “get it together woman, you know what you want!!!” while at the same time, rooting for the other guy 😩🤭 speaking of….
Lee is the coffee shop co-owner (with his sister Cora) and he is your typical golden retriever guy. he is so sweet and thoughtful (like the table, are you joking me!!!😭) & i was rooting for him the whole time, but because i knew he is someone that Ivy needed. she might have been fighting herself/feelings for Donovan but she, at the time, needed Lee to help her get unstuck.
she then realized once her and Lee were getting serious, that she wasn’t exactly fully over Donovan- the tall brooding handyman that’s been helping her fix up her bridal shop. the guy she spent so long trying to crack wide open & rest assured that he did (eventually)🙂↔️
from Ivy self-reflecting to overcoming her fears & finally letting Donovan all the way in, and her with him- they worked it all out and eloped and i guess lives happily ever after!? the only reason this book wasn’t 5 stars is because i felt like it was too short!! i could have read 300 more pages about Ivy and Donovan’s life since eloping and Summer and Eddies journey as parents and now Lee with his sisters childhood bestie, Dove!!!
Nicole, thank you so so much for allowing me to read this early because i genuinely could not wait to jump in!! i cannot wait to read the rest of this series🫶🏼💫

I had an absolutely wonderful time reading this book. The playlist paired with each chapter was spot on and made this even more fun of a read. The chapters weren’t drawn out but also managed to pack a punch - I binged this in the span of 5ish hours!
Ivy had me laughing out loud. She’s witty and incredibly self confident - watching her battle her head vs her heart was nerve wracking but I loved the journey to get to where she, and her heart, truly belonged.
Donovan made me want to wring his neck but also had me swooning. A surly, tatted, brick house of a man is also my type. I was rooting for him so hard. Learning his backstory and the demons he was battling shed light on why he came off as such a frustrating character at times, but the depth of who he is only made him more lovable.
Lee is the embodiment of Ted from Schitt’s Creek and his genuinely sweet nature had my heart aching. Truly a dream of a man.
Not only were the MCs lovable but the supporting cast also stood out. The dynamics and banter between the friend groups was so relatable and entertaining - I’m genuinely looking forward to diving into the rest of this series to get more of their stories.
4.5 stars for me. Would read again, will read more from Nicole.
I was given the wonderful opportunity to ARC read and am incredibly grateful to have been trusted with this story and to give my honest opinion.
Thank you to the author Nicole Mikell for sending me a digital ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am so proud to be a part of her street team.
What a cute read! My favorite trope is enemies to lovers, so right away I knew I was going to love this book. You can’t hurry love was so fun to read. I couldn’t help, but smile, laugh, and cry in all the right parts. Ivy and Donovan were so lovable from the beginning. I love their bantering. My favorite quote from the book was “We broke the fucking couch!”
If I keep writing I’ll give away parts of the book! Trust me it is worth the read, so preorder it and put it on your TBR, you won’t regret it.
This is my first read from Nicole and let me say that now Im addicted to her writing. I can’t wait yo read more of her books in the future.
This book will come out December 2nd
A huge thanks to Nicole Mikell and Rattle the Stars for giving me the privilege to read the book before the book is official.
You can’t hurry love - Nicole Mikell Book rating - 5 ⭐️/5 Smut rating- 3🌶️/5
Book review Okay so I am obsessed! 🤩 this is such a fun book to read with many twists & turns that ends up with a happy ending! This book is based in a small town called Clairesville, where Ivy the bridal shop owner lives. Ivy needs a handy man to help her with repairs around her store, in walks Donovan! A tall, model like man who Ivy meet previously! Then in comes the small local coffee shop owner Lee, Ivy had a decision to make, both men love her but who does she love more. Ivy’s way of thinking reminds me of me not knowing what is the right decision for your life. Once I got into this book I couldn’t put it down! So happy to be apart of this ARC team & can’t wait to read another one of @nicolemikellauthor books again soon!
✨love triangle ✨grumpy/sunshine ✨small town ✨includes a playlist ✨he falls first
nicole mikell has done it again with this one! ivy is such a force to be reckoned with and i absolutely adored her as our fmc. she’s strong, loyal, funny, independent. ugh i love her please just one chance bae i could treat you so well.
i really liked both of our mmcs, donovan and lee. while i very much have a type and one of these men very much was that type to a Capital T so i was already picking a favorite, i also felt a little bit like the love triangle wasn’t exactly equal if that makes sense? it felt like one of the mmcs was just a “safety net” for ivy and i wish we had seen more development in their relationship before the love triangle ended.
i did LOOOVE the way the love triangle wrapped up - it’s hard and messy and emotional and beautiful. it’s bittersweet but the ending leaves so much room for the future of these characters and i seriously cannot wait for more.
Nicole pulled it off again with this cute, charming sequel. Our girl Ivy finally gets her shot at a happily-ever-after in You Can’t Hurry Love. With her new bridal shop desperately in need of some TLC, she’s on the hunt for someone who can bring it back to life. Enter Donovan, Mr. Fix-It, emotionally unavailable, and helpful enough to say yes…but not enough to offer anything beyond the job.
And because the universe has a sense of humor, Ivy’s love life is just as run-down as her shop. Girly could use a little TLC herself. She can’t shake the attraction she feels for Donovan, so naturally…cue Lee. Bring on the love triangle, hahaha.
Lee, the coffee shop owner, is the walking definition of a golden retriever SMC (side male character, because hello, we’ve got two mens). While Ivy is getting hot and heavy with Donovan, no strings attached, because of course he’s “not that type of guy”, Lee is over here being the absolute sweetest. He’s trying his best to sweep her off her feet, and honestly? He does. He’s precious.
Throw in a little two-men action (not together…tragic), a destination bachelorette party, and some stellar side character moments, and you’ve got yourself a sweet, funny, and spicy read.
Such a fun time! And honestly…I enjoyed this one more than Baby, It’s You.
This is one of those rom-coms that kinda just sneaks up on you. I went in expecting it to be cute and walked away smitten. Great mix of humor and vulnerability and chemistry. I was grinning and swooning, even almost tearing up at times.
The characters were great and felt so real and relatable. I wanted to root for everyone! The banter was fun. The tension was delicious. This book had all the elements I love in a romance. Gave me all the cozy, joyful feels. I’m looking forward to reading more from Nicole Mikell.
If you enjoy love triangles, grumpy/sunshine, and HEA, this one is for you!
Thank you to the author Nicole Mikell for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Uh... are we kidding? It's going to be SO hard for someone to surpass my favorite read of the year now!
This was SO good. SO SO SO good that I don't even make clear sense right now. I never write reviews. I'm not good with words, even as an author. But this book absolutely needed a review. Also... chapter 22 🤭
Favorite quote: "Falling in love is a lot like fear, I realized; it makes your heart race, and you feel completely out of control in the moment. You no longer care about anything but the emotions swirling inside of you, and you know that you won't be the same from that day forward."
I loved book 1, so I was very excited to read this. This book was so funny. It had great banter and a love triangle. Each of the characters were written so well and had distinct personalities. Ivy is funny and confident. She is also the lucky girl who has 2 great guys to date and love. Donovan is broody and mysterious. Lee was perky and super charming. I personally was team Donovan for most of the book. However, there is something to be said for a man who can caffeinate you regularly. This was a great book!
I absolutely loved having the opportunity to be a beta reader for this book. The relationships between the characters was a strong point and I loved the sassy, confident MC, Ivy. The push and pull of the sexual tension and interest shown between Ivy and one of thr love interests, Donovan, was addictive. I also loved the side characters like Olive, Summer, Lee, and Hunter.
This was so much fun to read and such a great escape.
The ending was soooo good and I don’t want to spoil it but I have a feeling we may get another story in this series.
ARC read ohh this was lovely. i loved ivy & how she was so sure of herself. i loved the love triangle, the buildup was great. & the POV’s yes this is how i want them done. i loved the perspectives we got. loved learning donovan’s around because it’s a real life struggle. oh this was done soo well. can’t wish to read more.
Normally I’m not a big fan of love triangles because I never know which man to root for… and yeah, that’s exactly what happened here 😅 BUT from the beginning I had a feeling about who she’d end up with and thankfully I was right, so I don’t feel too heartbroken about it. I won’t say any names because I don’t want to spoil who she finishes with, but let’s just say… one of our men is the grumpy type and the other is the perfect charming one. 👀✨
Now I’m really hoping the next book gives the other guy his own HEA because he deserves it so much.
I devoured this book! It was such an adventurous, fun and hilarious wild ride. Ivy is a hoot and so relatable. I loved the character development of both guys and it kept me on the edge of my seat with twists and turns. This is such a fun story that felt like a movie with the creativity. Oh and it gets steamy!! This series is turning out to be one of my favorites, can’t wait for the next.
Such a cute book! Ivy the owner of a wedding dress shop meets Lee the owner of her favorite coffee shop. Like is splendid until she meets Donovan. The handy man with RBF and a fat head 🤣 I couldn’t wait to read this book. Nichole did a wonderful job!
I really loved this book! As soon as they mentioned Sleep Token I knew I was going to love it! This has definitely been my favorite ARC read I've ever had! I am so excited to explore the rest of the series!
A very different reading style than I am used to in the romance genre. This book focuses more on the fmc POV with a few chapters from the mmc(s) POVs. I do appreciate this one had more spice 🔥😉 get it girl!
My few critiques: 1) I just desperately wanted to know what the guys were thinking (maybe that was the whole point of how it was written hahah but I was desperate for more info on who they were and what they were feeling). <- I will say A LOT gets explained later in the book but in the beginning I was waiting for a guy chapter to make me giggle and kick my feet 🤪
2) There are a ton of time skips. I was actually able to follow along pretty well it was actually just in the beginning I was kinda thrown for a loop. I had to go back to make sure I didn’t miss something in the last book of Eddie and Summer? That was the only part I had a hard time getting up to speed with because I didn’t really know their story.
I read through this in one sitting—it’s super easy to read with a really simple writing style, so you can just vibe and turn pages without thinking too hard. It’s a spicy love triangle, but honestly…I wasn’t rooting for either guy. Lee deserved better, and Dominic + the FMC were way too chaotic together for me to ever buy into it. I also never fully felt her love for either of them, which made the triangle a little hard to connect with.
Overall, its an okay read and would be great for a vacation or if you prefer quick, bite-sized chapters you can pick up and put down easily.
I devoured this book! It was definitely one of my favorite ARC reads this year, and I can't wait to see where the next one leads! Also Donovan is now one of my top book boyfriends because he's so rough around the edges in the best way.
Firstly, thank you to Nicole & her team for the opportunity of being an ARC reader!
All opinions/thoughts are mine from my own reading experience!
I devoured this book to say the least. I was hooked from to the very start— the tension between the characters, DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED. I don’t even know how the tension turned up, and the fact this a love triangle definitely put me in a spiral, but how does one make a choice?! Understandably so you can right away see how the triangle starts though which I loved— not having to guess why there’s something going on, anyone can find themselves in this situation!
Donovan is definitely my favorite, no questions asked. Half way through the book I was a little sad that someone was going to get their heart broken but hey, the end definitely told me to SIT and listen.
I really enjoyed reading these characters and their story—something tells me we will be seeing more of them in the future or maybe I’m just delusional. But they gave me a cute little gateway from reality!! and truly the author has a way of making you connect with the story, the humor, I love!!
I got to 30% and decided to DNF because I couldn't get into it. The FMC, Ivy, felt juvenile for her age (like a teen) and came across as annoying to me. She cracked a lot of jokes, and most of them fell flat for me ("I'm deeply offended that this man hasn't objectified me"). She becomes immediately obsessed with a man she doesn't know at all, who doesn't seem to like her at all and gives her no indication of it either. "I have spent these two weeks absolutely obsessing over a man that I've learned two facts about: he hates chives, and he is allergic to tomatoes." It was giving desperate teenage crush mixed with a little Not Like the Other Girls.
The writing also had a lot of inner dialogue and more "telling" than "showing." For example, calling a friend by their nickname, then proceeding to talk about in detail how they earned said nickname, though it doesn't have relevance to the story. I wanted to like this because the synopsis sounded fun and the cover art is adorable, but it was just not working for me.
Thanks to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book! If i didn’t have to work, i would’ve finished it in exactly 24 hours. It was so perfectly structured and i loved seeing how Ivy grows with from her toxic past cause girl same. I’m proud to say i loved book two more than book one 🫣.
Love triangles can sometimes be annoying but this love triangle was not like that whatsoever. It was a well written love triangle that I fell in love with BOTH guys!!
Genuinely such a good book and i can’t wait to see more of her writing! If you haven’t read “Baby It’s you” or “You can’t hurry love” then idk what you’re doing because you SHOULD READ IT!
