Shimmer Paths

Rate this book
The tale is about Kibbeling, a small black cat who finds himself more lost than he could have ever imagined. Luckily he meets Kroket, who knows about the Shimmer Paths and navigating the nine different worlds. Their journey leads Kibbeling past creatures of all kinds (tasty, annoying, terrifying) and the story touches on companionship, dealing with new places and change, not rushing to judgements, plus a little about life and death.

A very short graphic novel with a surprisingly broad scope. Everyone knows cats are a bit magic, and this book plays on this by sending this cat through many portals into different worlds. I personally found this book in a cat pub in Bristol, which added to the appeal for me.

The artwork is stylish and lovely, and the different worlds that the shimmer paths lead to are imaginative and well-realised.

We used to use our house cat all the time, maybe this is where he went.

I absolutely love this art so much and I'm so glad to own this book.
This was a super cosy and lovely read before bed, I could look at the pictures all day.

If you're in Bristol, make sure to head into Sparks and check out all things Beastly Worlds (or online of course)

short and sweet!!!! I loved following kibberling through his adventures. big far away tree vibes, and Beatrijs Brouwer's art remains absolutely stunning! so much detail and colour 😍

my only wish was for a stronger front cover, felt like it didn't do the rest of the book justice!
