Consequences #1-3

Consequences Series Box Set - Part 1: A Dark Wealth and Power Romance

Rate this book
“A tantalizing, mind boggling, keep you up all night on the edge of your seat amazingly well written piece of art that begs to be reread over and over again but you can never fully describe to your friends unless they themselves have entered that world.” ~ Shannon Knox, Amazon Reader

This dark romance has been branded “as a genre of its own” with “masterful storytelling that will keep you biting your nails and furiously flipping the pages to finally get to the emotional, jaw-dropping conclusion.”

The first three Consequences novels together in one set! Aleatha Romig, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author, took the world by storm with Anthony Rawlings, Claire Nichols, and her acclaimed Consequences Series.

CONSEQUENCES: Claire Nichols wakes in an unfamiliar mansion and discovers that she’s at the mercy of billionaire Anthony Rawlings. To the rest of the world he’s charismatic and generous. It doesn’t take Claire long to learn that something more sinister lies beneath his polished façade. As time passes, Claire survives, and her strength penetrates Tony’s veneer, igniting passion where only fear had existed. As the pieces of the puzzle come together, the question becomes clear...Is anything as it appears?

TRUTH: After enduring Anthony Rawlings’ vendetta, Claire is faced with the consequences of her new freedom. With the help of old and new friends, she strategizes to rebuild her life and learn the truth of the past. Secrets are revealed, true foes are exposed, and Tony admits his true feelings. Claire must decide who she believes—who is telling the TRUTH?

CONVICTED: Facing her oldest fear, Claire learns the true meaning of isolation. Who can rescue her from this nightmare? Tony? Harry? Phil? Or perhaps a more unlikely savior? Will it happen in time, or will the consequences of the revealed truths be more than she or anyone can handle? As the cards are played, who will win the game?

**This box set is a significant savings over buying Consequences, Truth, and Convicted individually.

I am going to include three independent reviews for Consequences, Truth, and Convicted.

Consequences:
My mind is officially blown! I was originally attracted to this book because I heard that it was similar to Captive in the Dark, but after reading Consequences that is so not the case! I really don't know how to appropriately describe this book because the twists and turns have me speechless! Absolutely SPEECHLESS! My feelings for Anthony Rawlings fluctuated between love and hate. One minute I hated him for the way he treated Claire and the next minute is was absolutely charming and fully redeemed himself for his previous actions. Claire was finally living a life of normalcy (well as normal as life would get married to Anthony Rawlings) and then one day everything changed! I did not predict that turn of events. I thought for sure Claire would be forgiven after a severe consequence, but what happened next was shocking and totally far from my expectations. I not officially hate Anthony Rawlings and really hope that he will one day have to suffer his consequence!I still can't believe what happened I am completely shocked.

This is an absolute must read!

Truth:
Oh my goodness! Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out....just breathe! Truth was an absolute roller coaster of emotions: lies, deceit, love, redemption I could hardly keep up. I must admit, so far Truth is my favorite in comparison to Consequences, the first novel in the series. After the unexpected plot twist towards the ending of Consequences there was no way Claire and Anthony's journey could end there. Truth starts right where Consequences left off by diving head first into a roller coaster of emotions. I cannot share the details of the events that take place without giving away any spoilers. All I can say is that the events that occur are completely unexpected. Most importantly the truth is exposed!! I am positive that you will not see this coming. This is a must read in order to learn more about Anthony Rawling's acquisition in regards to Claire Nichols. You will discover how one situation can affect the lives of many. This book is highly recommended.

Note: I advise that you read Consequences prior to reading Truth.

Convicted:
I absolutely loved Convicted. When I began reading I had no idea what the heck was going on. I said to myself, "What happened that lead to this point?" I had NO idea what to expect. All I knew is what was going is broke my heart. I was thinking what happened to Claire? Where is Tony? All this was not going on at the end of Truth. These unknowns encouraged me to continue reading. I needed answers! Once again, I was battling with my love/hate relationship for Tony as the story progressed. I needed to know how Catherine fit into this mess. Then it happened. The truth was finally coming out. The pieces to the puzzle were finally starting to align. I found out who the real monster was. Did I expect it? NO! Convicted was an emotional roller coaster with twists and turns coming from every angle. Each chapter left you questioning the fate of each character. Then the timeline of events was finally exposed and things started to make sense. I'm sorry I'm being vague, but there is no way to describe this novel without exposing spoilers. What I did learn from this story is that true love can withstand any obstacle; the feeling of loss, betrayal, abuse, grief, deceit. This series was emotional, disturbing, heart-wrenching, and beautiful all at the same time. You witness the characters growing and learning from mistakes and changing for the better. Once again, Convicted ended with my absolutely loving Tony. The author showed just how loving Tony can be when his heart and priorities are in the right place. I would have been unable to accept the original fate, if a certain something did not happen. I cannot wait for Behind His Eyes to learn more about what was going on with Tony during this whole experience. I strongly recommend reading this series, but you cannot read them out of order. This series is being marked as one of my all time favorite reads. Excellent story!

My review will not do this series proper justice. Aleatha Romig has created something so completely mind blowing. In Consequences I'll admit that I was not sold. There are so many upsetting factors in this series, one must not over look what is happening. For personal reasons this was a very difficult book to read. I felt so angry and I hated Anthony. I also hated Claire for her behavior. I understand and that is what made it such a difficult read for me. However, I am so glad that I continued on because by the end my head was spinning. The book deals with rape, kidnapping, control, and abuse. Consequences will take you captive.Truth got the mind turning even faster. Just so you know, a review of this book is quite difficult to pull off. There is so much to say and yet I don't want to reveal to much, because even the smallest spoiler can unravel the entire story. In the second book Claire finds independence. This is her book. She learns how to have a voice and combat Tony. Their love takes so many hits in this book. New characters are revealed and you will love them. There is Phil, her voyeuristic babysitter. Harry, her new friend/love interest...and a few more. You also get to know about a few of the older familiar characters. It all leads to an insane revelation about who really is responsible for all of the troubles.Convicted will take you for a ride. My heart hurt when reading it. This was so well written that I felt Claire's passion, her pain, every emotion. My heart felt like it was getting ripped out of my chest. This book takes a different approach than the others. It deals with present tense and flashbacks. Never the less with Claire's pregnancy, the decisions to save her and her baby..you won't want to put it down. Do not fear, it ends o a high note. You won't be disappointed.I have been talking everyone about this series. If you love a good psychological thriller mixed with an will epic love story then you will love this book as well.

Put on your seat belt because it's going to be a rough ride!
I don't know where to begin with this book. I've never read a book like this. First book in the series is more of a psychological thriller. I can easily say that it pushed my boundaries and tugged at my emotions. It took me beyond my comfort zone of "romance" novels. I highly recommend this book to those that understand book #1 is NOT a romance novel however books 2&3 are a different story :). My stomach is in knots and my mind is reeling over all the things that happened. Tony scared the daylights out of me in book 1. Aleatha Romig, congratulations, you succeeded in planting Tony in my nightmares in book 1 and bringing him back to me in sweet dreams in books 2 & 3.
The series is one of my favorites of all time! What an incredible love story that starts towards the end of "Truth" and continues throughout "Convicted". There are so many twists and turns. Remember the names of the characters and their roles because some have significant roles in books 2 & 3.

i have waited for this series to finsih before i decided to pick it up. i read it as the box set. im so glad i waited. as soonn as i finished the first book i was able to jump right in to the second! What a GREAT series! My mind is blown. You think you know what is going to happen then all of a sudden it changes! AMAZING! I couldnt help loving Tony..even though I hated him. As I was reading I felt that I was there in the story with Claire and Tony! You cant help wanting them to have a HEA. I gave the series 4 stars for the simple fact that I felt the story did drag on a bit.I skimmed through pages in all 3 books. A lot of the details and storyline could have been left out and it still would have been a great read.

Mind blowing. Just awesome! These books brings you through a a roller coaster of emotions. The main characters are flawed and intense. You develop and love-hate relationship with them. I found myself getting ready to shout at the books at times. Definitely a must read.

Where to Begin?

First off, I have to say this was SOOOO close to a five star read. It’s dark, suspenseful, passionate, engaging, but I had to go with four stars because of the writing style. The author is so talented, but everything dragged on and on. The things I got way too much detail on were boring and things like lovemaking and some crucial scenes were skipped over

That said, I loved that a lot of her friends stuck by Claire. This book would be beyond unrealistic without it.

I think it stinks Claire stayed so mad at harry. She wasn’t all right either, but that’s a small thing.

Lastly, Phil was AWESOME. And I want to marry John? Weird, but he just seemed so great.

Worth reading guys.

Loved this series!!

Although this is a darker, suspense thriller it is also a romance! In the beginning you can’t help think Tony is a monster because he is! But as you continue reading Claire & Tony’s journey you can’t help but root for him and totally fall for this man!! Claire is a survivor and a fighter, she is actually one of the best females characters I have read in a long time. I couldn’t put my kindle down and had many nights of little sleep so that I could swallow this series up! I highly recommend this series, you won’t regret it. I am now moving on the the companion reads to read Tony’s POV. I can’t get enough of him.

WOW! This series is the ultimate! Consequences, Truth, Convicted, Revealed and Beyond the Consequences...... it took me awhile to finish the series. I would get so frustrated that I had to put it aside but it would bug me so bad that I had to find out what happens next. Sometimes I wanted to shake Claire and punch Tony. As the clues were given I told myself I have finally got it. WRONG! Then something else would go wrong. There was so many people against these two but there was just something that Claire and Tony had that made you take a second and third look. Consequences sure can change your life. Loved it.

This amazing book kept me intrigued from start to finish. From its very unusual beginning till the very end, the Consequences Series made me want to keep reading to discover what would happen next. I loved the amazing love story that evolved between Tony and Claire. I would love to read more about Phil and Taylor, too.

Dark, romantic, thrilling suspenseful

I hated Anthony so much but grew to love him. I thought Claire was spineless and weak, but she proved me wrong. This was an amazing journey that takes you high high high and then throws you off a cliff into a dark abyss.

Okay this is a little rant that I feel the need to go on. I really want to get feedback to see if anyone feels the same way about this book series. Please beware of some tiny SPOILERS.

Okay so first I would like to start off by saying that overall I believe the Consequences series has an amazing idea. I am just not so sure about the execution of what I have read so far. As of right now I have finished book 1 completely and I am about 150 pages in on book 2 "Truth". I know that it probably isn't the best idea to write a review before finishing the entire book but honestly I cannot wait any longer. I have to get these feelings out NOW. After I am done reading Truth I will come back with another updated review but here is what I think so far.

So far my main problem with the book series is the unnecessary amount of detail the author gives regarding certain situations in the story COMPARED with the LACK of detail given to other situations that I found to be way more interesting/important. For example, in consequences she talked a great length about the MANY trips Claire and Tony went on. Pages were dedicated to describing the things they did on those trips, where he took her, oh, and lets not forget the thousands of gifts he brought her. After reading about Paris and Fiji and this place and that place it started to become a little redundant. Still, I don't think I would have found the author's preference for detail so annoying if she had given that same treatment to "other" parts of the book..... Alright yes I am talking about the sex and domination scenes between Claire and Tony. The entire book is centered around Tony's Jekyll and Hyde personalities and when he was in his dominating mode one of the most powerful tools he used against Claire was sex. Yet she gave us nothing. Barely even a hint of the sexual horrors he subjected her to. Now, I am not saying I wanted her to go full on 50 shades here but at least give us something to work with. She would hint at rape and sadism but would breeze past those scenes as if they made her feel comfortable. Then she would follow up the next morning with something about Claire seeing the bruises on her body or feeling sore. In my opinion thats not helpful at all and it only barely points a finger at what the author was trying to convey. I mean seriously, women wake up sore and bruised from a drunken night of clubbing and dancing. I just couldn't wrap my head around why the author would make a book about a man who kidnaps a woman and uses her body without giving us more details. She seems totally comfortable talking about Tony's good side but I get the feeling that she holds back a LOT when describing how bad he can be.

As for Truth, well as stated before I don't have much to say about that as of right now because I have not finished the book but I will say that her lack of detail regarding Tony and Claire's first meeting in over a year since he betrayed her REALLY pissed me off. I mean they went to dinner, tony outsmarts claire by having the restaurant emptied out, she throws him a curve ball by revealing his hidden name and then....nothing. She's suddenly walking back into her apartment. Talk about annoying. I do hope that maybe there will be more details on it later. One last thing that I have noticed is some slight inconsistencies in her writing that kind of bug me. In Book 1 she describes Tony as being 6'4. In book two, as Tony stands in Claire's apartment doorway she says he is at least 6 and a half feet. *facepalm* Really? I mean I can kind of let it slide because of the two words "at least" but 6 and a half feet and 6 foot four inches are two completely different heights! Ive dated men of both and you can certainly tell the difference. And I am 5'4 like Claire is said to be. Maybe I am nitpicking idk.. But i can be very visual and I love proper details. This author has frustrated me more than once.
All in all I do enjoy the story but I cannot give it more than a 3 star rating for now. I am not crazy about it like most people and I was very bored the entire time I was reading the first book. The only reason why I stuck around was for the jaw dropping ending that everyone promised. I hope there is a turn around because I really want to like this series! I will continue to give it a chance.

This is a dark romance that will keep you wondering and continuously captivated at every dark and stunning turn. One of the best series I've ever read. Book 1 Consequences
This book was absolutely amazing.
For once it was so great to read a story that was not sexually based. Alethea Romig has written a novel that keeps the reader on their seat until the very end.
Claire Nichols is a young woman, stuck in a rut. She's lost her job at the local tv station, due to redundancies and is currently working as a bar tender in a local establishment.
Anthony Rawlings is the owner of Rawling Industries and has noticed and taken a liking to Claire.
That's where and when the niceties of this man ends.
This novel is a psychological thriller that will have the reader experiencing all the gamut of emotions. Ranging from fierce anger through to love and sympathy.
It is NOT a love story by any means.

Book 2 Truth
Truth continues from where Consquences left off.
Claire is now pardoned from her incarceration and is out to seek vengeance against Anthony Rawlings.
What follows is a book of mystery and intrigued.
Claire delves into Anthony's past and finds more mystery than what she originally expected.
Along with Harry Baldwin and her Close friend Courtney Simmons, she sets out to destroy the man she previously grew to love.
Once again this book contains as many twists and turns as Consequences.
Once again it is a psychological thriller that will have you not wanting to put it down.
As Claire learns more and more about the truth, she discovers that appearances are not what they seem.....something she has learnt a lot about.

Book 3 Convicted
Aleatha Romig has written a brilliant conclusion to this phenomenal series.
Convicted is written in many time frames.
It begins in the future in 2016 and then transports the reader back to when Claire is on her island paradise.
Through numerous twists and turns, that we have come to expect from Ms Romig, we are given the entire story of Anthony Rawlings, Catherine and many other characters. We see how everybody is interconnected.
Ms Romig answers many of the readers questions from Books 1 & 2, but she also introduces the reader to new questions and answers.
The novel is an unwinding puzzle right through to the very final word.
Did I come out loving Anthony Rawlings - YES!!!!!
The man changed throughout the series, however he still retained that touch of dominance.
Congratulations Aleatha Romig on an absolutely BRILLIANT and thought provoking series.
Next up the novellas from Anthony's POV.

The story of Claire and Tony Rawlings was an excellent book. I couldn't put it down. I first brought the first two books and decided to buy the box set. I look forward to more stories about all the characters in this series.

Five star because it was a very interesting love story and I would recommend it to all of my friends.
