Your coffee break – that unsurpassable daily pleasure, especially when it’s a Latte. You know how much you love its rich, creamy pleasurable hit, especially when you share the moment with friends.
Now you have something captivating to enhance the experience – life-changing stories with depths of emotion that reveal the unexpected. Meet Sussanah, Peter, Jane and Matt. Explore each character’s surprising friendships and learn their innermost secrets. UNEXPECTED PLEASURES – When new friends and old memories collide. Cocooned in the museum of her home, Sussanah had never expected her life to change, not at her age. And she'd certainly never dreamed she'd experience such a vivid emotional reawakening. DOWN TO EARTH - What Airforce pilot Peter has been trained for is to deliver various weapons systems. Missiles and laser-guided bombs. That’s his thing, ice-cold, quick reflexes, high IQ, instant, split-second, number-crunching, computer-based decisions. But it’s in the most banal way that he discovers his wife’s secret life, and witnesses something magical. ENCHANTMENT- Jane and Matt’s relationship has been stalled in “the neutral corner” for some time. She plans an escape from the freezing streets of New York to spend a hot Christmas in Australia. There, in the heart of the Outback, they stumble into a magical night when layers of themselves are peeled away. But will it be enough? For when you'd love a Latte.
Received this book from the author through Book Funnel.
The book consists of three short stories, focusing on interactions between couples and/or others.
The first is introspective from the point of view of a widowed woman who remembers her past husband while taking care of a young man who is ill.
The second one is a couple, mainly told from the husband's perspective.
The third couple are traveling together, but have not yet married.
None of the couples have formed their relationship with the other that most people would have presumed they would. Initially they considered that they had overcome barriers. The reader is left wondering if that is the whole story.
There's a lot of questions implied for the reader, possibly even leading to evaluating their own relationships.
I really enjoy Jinx James' Coffee Break Bundles, they are perfect when you want something to read but you don't want (or have time for) a long novel. There are three stories in the book, all different and all thought provoking in their own way. The stories in this book all relate to relationships and our perceptions of them. Enjoy.
