After surviving a brutal home invasion tied to her work as a defense lawyer, Taylor Greer needs a fresh start. On impulse, she buys a charming but neglected Victorian on the edge of the tiny town of Deepcross — a house the locals avoid and refuse to talk about.
When a contractor uncovers a false wall in an upstairs closet, Taylor finds a hidden room filled with old newspapers, a cracked porcelain doll, and a locked antique trunk. The articles detail a century-old murder… and decades of unexplained disappearances — one of which is disturbingly connected to her past.
As she digs deeper, Taylor realizes the house isn’t just a backdrop to the town’s darkest secrets — it’s at the center of them. And someone has been waiting for her to step inside.
Perfect for fans of Riley Sager and Simone St. James, What the Blueprints Forgot is a slow-burn psychological and gothic thriller where the walls have memories… and they remember you.
I received this arc and this is my honest opinion. I think this is the author's first story so I'm lenient. The story had potentials but there were a lot of inconsistencies. I have so many questions I don't even know where to start. What's the story behind this house movement? What happened that led her there? How on earth her past is tied with the house? Why didn't she try to escape once outside? Why did she decide to stay? And don't let me start with the ending... I feel that this story would be much better if it was written more carefully. I feel it was rushed like something had to wrap up without giving it the proper handle and care. I really liked the flow of the writing despite feeling that I couldn't keep up because I wasn't understanding things. Also I felt the thrill but I would prefer if we had been introduced in to the heroine's character so we could empathise with her. I believe the author has many stories to give us if they are more careful with consistency, more depth in characters and a background that ties the story.
I loved the storyline, and the expressive details of the story to the point that I actually felt like I was in the home with Taylor. I knew the town she was speaking about even though the town was fictional. However, there parts of the story missing. I was left wanting more. More about the house, more about the history of the house, more about Taylor and what happened. The author kept me wanting and focused though.

I honestly also feel bad when giving medicore ratings. This was another novella, so I've been reading two of them in one day. But despite the catchy cover and blurb this one just felt not... finished, in some way. Like the author had a lot of great ideas but then simply forgot to tie up some of them along the way. It is still a solid story, though. I'm giving it 3,5 stars.

Definitely creepy...in a good way. It was a good story. I think what made me frustrated....Taylor too, was the way the town acted. Maybe with the truth being out it will be different. Who knows. Small towns can be weird like that. When she made the connection with Evelyn, I had a feeling something was up. And there was more to this than meets the eye. That was a nice twist. I liked that. I recommend.

Anna Maurice wrote this well and was glad I got to read this, it had that suspenseful atmosphere that I was looking for and enjoyed in the genre. The characters were everything that I wanted in this and had that secrets that I was expecting. This was a strong psychological thriller novel, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book.

I liked what the blueprints forgot which was Taylor’s story. It was an interesting read. I received an early copy. And voluntarily leaving this review.
***ARC*** 3.5☆ Re-read after author edits. This is a really good story.
***ARC*** 2☆ This story has potential but is not quite there yet. It was hard to follow at times. I would have liked more back story on Taylor and why she chose to stay. The ending left me with questions. I honestly feel that this could be an amazing story but that it just isn't quite there yet. Keep writing Anna. You have some great ideas. 💜
