Having actually stayed up late to complete this book, (a total never-occurrence for me!) I have to say that I really enjoyed reading this crime thriller. Easy to immerse oneself into the story, I was happy to let it flow around me without feeling too overwhelmed by a complex plot.
The writer gives readers both an enjoyable crime to solve as well as a warming relationship between Lila and Jack. Both characters are easily likeable and relate-able – I felt like I would be friends with both of them in the real world! The romance element was surprising for me – not what I expected for this book – however, I think it provided a welcome relief from the claustrophobic paranoia that Lila increasingly experiences. Indeed, it felt as if the writer enjoyed developing the relationship between Jack and Lila and creating this secondary theme within the novel.
Arguably, one might say that the plot was a little obvious in its direction. However, I could not correctly predict the criminal in this book and enjoyed the red herrings that the writer provided. There are plenty of complex narratives out there, especially in the crime theme, and I appreciated the simplicity of the story and the generally small cast.
The aftermath of Lila’s accident builds in intensity. It isn’t just about her recovery, but also understanding what had really happened that night. Lila’s memory loss and her attempts at building bridges with Jack’s family – the family of another victim from the accident – uncovers sinister secrets and leaves Lila fearing for her life. She is physically and emotionally vulnerable – recovery from the accident takes its time and she is still getting her head around being the sole survivor. I loved Jack becoming the knight in shining armour and thought the writer created his character to truly show how much Lila needed a friend at this difficult period.
The story is pacy and one that quickly draws you in. I wouldn’t say that there were many cliffhangers but I did enjoy the characterisation and style of writing. A great read, this was an easy five stars to give!

This is my first read from this author, I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. Starts with Lila she survives a car crash.and has no memory about the accident. she was on date, and Jack lost his sister in the other car.what did happen?abit of a love story.good read.

DYING TO TELL by Keri Beevis is a new suspense filled, psychological thriller that has so many suspects and plot twists, I just had to keep turning the pages long into the night. Ms. Beevis is a new-to-me author who knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat with a well planned, fast paced plot and memorable characters.
Lila Amberson is the sole survivor of a horrific car crash. At first, when she wakes, she has no memories of the accident, but slowly she begins to remember. The more she remembers, the more she has a feeling of dread. After several incidents, she realizes that someone is trying to hurt her and she has no idea who or why.
Jack Foley is a famous thriller writer who lost his youngest half-sister in the accident Lila was involved in. When Lila shows up to pay her respects at his sister’s funeral, Jack is angry and lashes out, but he soon realizes he was wrong about Lila. He wants to protect her and begins to care for her romantically.
As Lila and Jack begin talking to people to find out what happened on the night of the accident, they begin to realize that someone is watching and does not want a truth to be revealed.
I enjoyed this thriller from page one! Ms. Beevis’ plot has well placed red herrings, increases in intensity and surprised me in the end. The story is easy to read with very likable and believable main characters and a secondary cast of characters that are not just placeholders, but well fleshed out realistically flawed people. I am very grateful I tried this new-to-me author and I will be watching for more books by her even as I go back and check out her previous titles.

Bloodhound Books keeps pumping out great books from great authors, and Dying To Tell by Keri Beevis was no exception. If you are looking for a super chilling read, look no further!
What it's about: Lila Amberson is the sole survivor of a car crash that claimed the lives of 2 other people. She has lost her memory of the crash and suffered a broken leg, among other injuries, but is released from the hospital. Jack Foley lost his little sister Stephanie in the crash and when Lila shows up at her funeral, he loses it and makes Lila leave. Feeling guilty he connects with Lila and apologizes which leads to them joining together to figure out the truth of what happened the night of the accident. But as they snoop around someone is watching them, someone that has a deadly secret they will do anything to protect.
Dying To Tell was just wow guys and it really blew me away! It was a longer book at over 400 pages, but I was fully engaged the entire time, and even though I may not have been totally surprised by everything, there was still a lot in the book I was not expecting. I would say there are triggers in this book (looking at you rape), but nothing that was overly described. There are also a couple of sex scenes that I was not at all expecting, but they were also nothing too steamy and would be easy to skip if that is something you want to do.
The book jumps around between many different perspectives, but the main two are Lila and Jack. I don't always love when books jump around like that, but it really worked for Dying To Tell and I was extremely impressed with Beevis' writing. Her writing style is something I could read all day, and I stayed up late to finish the book because I just could not stop reading.
I really liked both Lila and Jack as characters and while they have their flaws, they made a great couple in this book. I really liked the depth Beevis gave both of them, and it was nice to read a book with such great characterization.
Song/s the book brought to mind: Secret by The Pierces
Final Thought: If you want a fast-paced, chilling, crime novel then you need to read Dying To Tell. There is something for everyone in this book - romance, crime, fast pacing, an interesting storyline, etc. and I can't recommend it enough to crime/thriller lovers. Even if you can see where the plot is going, it might still surprise you like it did me.

This felt like torture to me. To me, the romance overtook the mystery & I didnt enjoy any of the characters at all. I usually give up on books like this around 25% but this has so many good reviews so I thought I'd hang in with it. I was at 75% & knew I didnt even CARE how it ended. Moving on - just aggravated I wasted all my time.

Crikey what a story.
When Lila Ambersom is released from hospital,after an awful accident she just wants to move on.Jacks sister died in the crash. He wants answers but as Lila gets flashbacks there’s someone that doesn’t want her to remember what happened.
A well written story with a gripping storyline. My mind was trying to speed ahead while I was reading but I still didn’t get it right.

Lila is the sole survivor of a horrendous car crash
Jack is step brother to one of the victims of the crash, Stephanie
Their paths are to cross and it wont be pleasant.....but little by little they grow closer and as events unfold between them they realise the crash and all that went on before, and is happening now points towards much much more than seemed and as Lila’s life is again in danger they both risk the wrath of.....well thats the main plot so not going to say 😃
An exciting psychological/mystery/whodunnit/romance that had me from the terrifying first page until the horrifying final chapters, with plenty inbetween!
Character driven and easy to read I enjoyed this book and trying to work out what had happened to who and why and really enjoyed how the story progressed and kept the reader on their toes all the way through until ‘all was revealed’

Main male character Jack is such a typical emotional abuser that I just couldn't stomach it. Never mind the lukewarm mystery.

This is a ROMANCE novel. It’s not gripping. It’s not a thriller.
I was looking for a psychological thriller, but this book isn’t even close. If I had to choose three words to describe this book—in order of importance—I’d say romance, mystery, and suspense. IMHO, it’s 75-80% romance.
I began skimming early in the book, but I paid attention to anything psychology and/or crime-related. I noted several problematic situations and information presented as facts—that were questionable or difficult to believe. I did read the whodunnit storyline, in order to keep up with my box-ticking. After eliminating the thin red herrings and not-believable villains, I rolled my eyes at the remaining characters. Seriously. I knocked off another star, because the ending featured bathetic melodrama, semi-believable character morphing, and a lot of telling-not-showing. That includes explanatory-info-dumps telling readers about . . . well, just about everything mystery-related.
Please note that I am in the minority of reviewers, and I was looking for a specific type of thriller. Please do read my review with a teaspoon of salt, especially if you like romantic-mysteries with a bit of suspense.

A Thrilling Ride, A Fast Paced Mystery, A Movie Needing To Be Made!
Have you ever gotten onto a high speed amusement park ride, a roller coaster perhaps, barely got the safety bar down and haven’t even situated yourself properly and it takes off leaving you grasping for a handhold? That is how this book takes off, and it never slows down. One twist after another, any time you think you have it figured out, you are wrong, oh so wrong.
In addition to a gift of being able to take dizzying thrills and set them to paper, this author also has an uncanny ability to populate her book with a wide range of characters, some likeable, some you would not want to know, and most importantly, all human, with the inherent flaws and characteristics that make a person a person and not, say, just a character on a piece of paper. And perhaps more amazingly, the author creates these people and introduces them in such a way that they are very memorable and you never have to wonder who someone is. You remember them as you do someone you had lunch with last Thursday.
This is a book that Hollywood should discover. This is the next Summer Blockbuster Thriller just waiting to be made. I much prefer books over movies, but I truly believe this book would make a fantastic movie. You know how the greatest movies have a scene or line that becomes a part of history? In Warriors it would be the clinking of the bottles and the “Warriors, come out and play”. In Gremlins 2 it is the “Rambo!”. You get the idea. Yea, this book has one of those scenes also, just waiting to be put on the big screen. No, I won’t spoil it, just read the book, you will recognize it. It is great.
There are not enough accolades that can be heaped upon this book. It reminds me of some of Agatha Christie’s works. The level of mystery is such that it is like a puzzle with exact pieces that once fit together reveal everything clear as day, but trying to fit those pieces together ahead of time is like trying to reassemble a three dimensional puzzle for the first time, without even knowing what shape it is supposed to be.
A wonderful job done by this author, I look forward to her next book.

This is a brilliant psychological thriller that I simply could not put down.
Lila wakes up in hospital to be told she’s been in a car accident but she can’t remember much of what happened. She was the only survivor from the two cars and feels a sense of guilt because of this.
She goes to the funeral of the young girl that was killed but is marched away by her brother.
Feeling bad about his behaviour, Jack finds Lila and apologises to her and instantly feels a connection with her.
I loved the slow burning romance between them but underlying this is the threat to Lila’s life and Jack wants to protect her.
Someone wants her gone and is trying everything to get to her so Jack and Lila have a race against time to find out who it is and why they want her dead.
This is a gripping psychological thriller that really had me on the edge of my seat, and I loved it.

So I really thought this was going to be an excellent book. However, I found myself skipping chapters to get to the end as it was sort of dragged out and boring.

If you’re writing a Mills and Boon, don’t call it “a gripping psychological thriller you don’t want to miss.” Dull and unnspired.

It has an okay storyline though it seems kind of forced or dragged out in parts. There's just too much unbelievable things that keep happening to one person. By far the most stupid thing about this book and why I gave it a terrible rating is the relationship between the man and the woman. He's a grown man and yet he throws temper tantrums and is super nasty to her. And yet because he's going through a difficult time in his life it's supposed to be okay and when he says sorry she forgives him. To top it all off he then calls his ex-girlfriend and tells her he loves her "just to get rid of her " and the heroine once again forgives him. Please! If this was real life and that was my friend I'd be telling her to walk away from this guy as he's going to be controlling and take his temper out on you whenever he's in a bad mood. He's a spoiled little boy. Just my thoughts.

I am a huge fan of this author and this book is by far her best to date. From the opening paragraph I was hooked. The plot twists led me in circles and kept me guessing right up until the reveal. As someone who tries to work out "whodunit" I enjoy a book more when I can't and this one certainly met that. As well as a great plot the characters were also strong. They were sympathetic and believable and Lila in particular came across as a normal person who is caught up in a situation through no fault of her own. With a fantastic cast of supporting characters this book already is on my list of all time favourites. For anyone who enjoys the work of the likes of Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown take note of the name Keri Brevis. She is becoming a worthy addition to the ranks.

By the looks of all of the 5 star reviews I'm clearly in the minority here, but this was absolutely not for me. This is the second book by the author I've tried and I didn't enjoy either of them.
The premise of the story is interesting but as it starts to play it put its just so predictable, I guessed every single twist by about 30% so listening to the rest of it was just painful.
The characters were idiots, every bit of drama and conflict was over written and contrived, and the dialogue was eye roll worthy.
Also, not the authors fault, but the narrator kept pronouncing Lyla's name as "Lya" and it drove me up the wall!!

This book is complete crap. I hate giving negative reviews because I know authors work so hard on their books but I feel I need to save people from this one. I read it because it had a ton of five star reviews. I don’t know who these people are but this is not a five star book. These people need to read some better books. Terrible story, weak mystery, stupid and gross sex scenes, and a ridiculous love story. Save yourself and read something, anything else.

WOW and Wow again! I hadn't read this author before however I am now very keen to read her previous novels if this book is anything to go by. From the first page you are caught up in the events of the main character surviving a horrific car crash, which kills another two people, and her subsequent memory loss plus 2 missing school girls. Are these incidents related or just coincidences? Keri writes as though you, the reader, are there in each scene watching it all unfold before you and helpless to do anything about it. It is highly descriptive and emotive at times. The story twists and turns making you doubt each person in turn at some point and at the same time trying to figure out what is really going on. By the end you find yourself breathless with the ride you have just been on, but satisfied too. I would highly recommend this book.

Beautifully written
This is the fourth book from this author and definitely the best.
Set in Norfolk the scenery so well described is fabulous backdrop to a thriller. It starts with an accident and you are then taken on a journey with so many twists and turns.
Lila and Jack are substantial characters, they have depth. The dialogue is so well written it's like listening to them.
There are many red herrings amongst the clues. I did not figure out who the killer was.
The author has accomplished a story that's a thriller a love story and a brilliant whodunnit all in one.
Bloodhound books have a got jewel of a writer.

Make sure you don’t have anything important to do when you pick this book up because you won’t want to put it down. When I was reading this I became so engrossed in the story the pages just faded away. The main character Lila is my new favorite, I felt like I was right beside her trying to piece the missing parts of her memory back together, and the character Jack was so well written, I caught myself talking out loud to my tablet calling him dumba.., questioning why he was doing something I won’t mention to prevent spoilers. This is Keri Beevis’ best book yet,it’s great. I truly lost track of time and found myself wanting the story to keep going when I came to the final page.

I’m not sure I would have considered this a thriller... maybe a weird drawn out love story with some investigative parts and a few secrets. I listened to this on audiobook and honestly I zoned out a lot because I was bored most of the time. This had so many great reviews on Chirpbooks but I did not enjoy it at all. Too many characters all over the place, too many story lines going on at once. Also Lila had way too many lucky breaks. It was just a bit unbelievable. The whole time I was just waiting to see how everything connected so it could just be over. And even then it was a pretty bland ending.

Yet another great book from author Keri Beevis. Fast paced, twisty and difficult to put down.
One of this authors best attributes is her ability to write such real characters. People that have aspects you like but also things that infuriate you about them.
Having read and enjoyed all her books so far, I really like the way she has changed things up. Setting this book in a sleepy Norfolk town in the UK instead of the US where her other books have been set up. It shows an author who is not afraid to try something different and change things up! Each book is getting stronger and stronger!

I really enjoyed this book, Keri Beevis as an Author just keeps getting better and better.
The book starts with a claustrophobic atmosphere and quickly sets the pace for a thrilling ride full of twists and turns.
I liked both Lila and Jack from the start even though they got off on the wrong foot to begin with, but their characters were well thought out and meaty, and I genuinely cared about what happened to them.
Some of the other people in the story were not so likeable but brilliantly described all the same, I really enjoyed the fast pace and interesting, tense storyline throughout.
Would definitely recommend.

Boring and slow
I had to skip sections, forced myself to read the whole novel. It fails as mastery or thriller, and it is really cheesy on the love front.

Oops demolished again in a day 🙊. Keri Beevis is quickly becoming one of my new fav thriller authors! Really gripping story of an accident where only Lila survived but someone is still out to get her. 4.5*

Oh My Giddy Aunt!!!!
I have literally just finished this absolute corker of a book and feel like I’m on an actual high from reading it!!!
This is a BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT book that I can not praise highly enough!!
I knew when I picked it up that this was definitely going to be my kind of book, and boy... was it ever!!!
I was instantly drawn to Lila and Jack and loved how well they came together in the story and how their characters connected. Parts of this book are so full of suspense, and so tense with the way Keri describes the scenes and what is happening, that there were many times I actually felt like my heart was racing and beating out of my chest! I actually had to turn my lamp off and put the “big light” on as I read a big chunk of it at night and it made me really on edge!
This book isn’t just a thriller, there is also a romance story running through it as Jack and Lila’s story develops, and for someone who’s favourite genres are Romance and Thrillers, this book is absolutely perfect for me.
The storyline and plot to this book is so solid that it makes it so easy to get lost in and is just so easy to follow as the story flows so effortlessly throughout.
The ending..... Wow!....Just Wow!!! I now need to listen to calming music to get my heart rate down after that!! I just loved every word, and every line of this book!

The story starts out with a mysterious event that instantly grabs you and draws you in. The character development is strong and you actually care about the cast and hope things work out but there’s an air of uncertainty and it could go either way. Conspirators or protagonists, you’re uncertain, but they work together, but how closely and how well, you want know so you keep reading. Keri makes the characters come alive with their own personalities and you become vested in them.
Keri Beevis has done an outstanding job with her fourth book. It makes you want to go back and read her first three to see how she’s developed and grown and perfected her craft. She is an excellent story teller that is destined to be continually be on the bestseller list.
If you haven’t read any of Ms. Beevis’ works, what are you waiting for? You’re missing out on great adventures to make you think and enjoy reading again. I’m looking forward to many more years of work from this exciting new author!
