We love being well and enjoying life, but in every life there comes a time when the certainties of tomorrow fade away in the anguish of today's reality. We get sick, face surgery and therapy and worry. Facing Surgery with Christ is the product of a cancer surgeon's experience with the spiritual needs of his patients.
I enjoyed writing this book - especially after I noticed how little doctors tell patients about the true nature of their diseases. The diagnosis of cancer is a scary one, and one that should be discussed in great detail. We shy away from the important questions because they take up too much time - and we are reluctant to discuss spiritual issues. The book has helped a number of patients and my hope is that it will continue doing so in the future.
