I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I am so glad I read it.

Brooke works in a winery and is up for a promotion. When her boss/boyfriend asks her to throw a party and invites everyone she is hoping he won't propose. But he does propose just not to her. All in a night she finds out he has been seeing someone else and then she quits her job. Now Brooke needs a new plan and the plan is to own her own winery and so George he made a big mistake.

Billy is the hometown hero and now that his career in the majors is over and he is retired billy returns to his hometown and buys a winery for the family business. But he doesn't expect to run into Brooke. Now not only does he want to hire her but he wants a second chance at the girl he let get away.

I thought this book was different and cute. It had some cute banter and I have to say Brooke and Billy are funny when they are arguing. You can tell these two have an attraction and finally after 10 years apart they act on it. Although Brooke is hesitant since the disaster with her ex she can't help but want Billy.

I loved how the families were together and how everyone pretty much got along. There was a little drama in this book but it was just enough to keep the story fun.

One of my favorite parts is when Billy finds Brooke laying outside her door after a power outage. It was cute and funny wrapped into one.

I haven't read the first book in the series but after reading this I have to. I enjoyed the characters and how they all interacted. Hopefully each one of Billy's brothers will get there own book.

If you are looking for a cute fun read this is the book for you.

Hurray for the weekend! Yeah, since its weekend, which means no work! And what’s great thing to do on a weekend? Ofcourse, reading books! And we'll start with another book from Starlight Hills series! Since I’m done with the first book, All Of Me, I am really looking forward to its second book.

Just as usual, I didn’t read the summary so I am really excited to know who’s this story gonna be. And I was really surprise to find out that its Brooke’s! Going back to the first book, Brooke was Ivey’s bestfriend.

This story really makes me feel excited because Brooke’s character really stands out while I was reading the first book. She has that spunk and cool character that’s really hard not to notice. But what also intrigues me most is who’s going to be that lucky guy?! I thought the excitement just ended there, but to my surprise, my most awaited hottie from the Turlock brothers is finally here! Yeah bummer, but so what? I know you’re looking forward to it too aight?

Unlike the first book, this story piques my attention just by reading its first chapter. It wasn’t just because of Brooke but it's because of the situation she was in. That was really maddening so what Brooke did just serves the j*rk right!

After quitting her job, she planned on owning a winery and the first thing she need was the old Mirassu vineyard. But Billy, the town’s popular baseball superstar bought the winery in cold cash. Who would have thought that it’s because of that land that Brooke’s life will start to change eh?

Their love story fortunately is kinda new to me which I honestly thought at first that it's going to be cliché. Like a popular hot jock fall in love with this typical girl. But no it’s not! Their story actually started when they were in high school but it was 10 years after that their "love story" truly started, and I really like that because all weren't made without a haste.

I love how their story blossomed though I was really irritated with their conflicts. Why is it hard for couples to tell what they feel for each other eh? Well, I guess it's easier to act than say it? Well, I dunno ok!

I was also happy because finally, Brooke conquered her fears. Well, actually both of them knew and corrected all their setbacks. Billy on what he really loves to do, and Brooke on her fear to fall in love.

For the main characters, I really can't hide how I adore Brooke's, I love how extreme she is which leads to her being so headstrong. Her character was also not "all perfect" unlike most romance stories tends to do. Her character is a kind of character that we can all easily relate to especially her phobia with darkness and her being afraid to fall in love.

Billy on the other hand is a true picture of a gorgeous heat-inducing baseball superstar. So tell me, who wouldn't fall for that? Just like Brooke, I'm not that fan of jocks too, but who could resist a hottie like Billy? Hehe. I don't really have any complaints with his character, because just like Brooke's he also has his own setbacks but I adore his love to his family and by being a true gentleman. So what else could you wish for?

And just like the first and fourth book, this story wasn’t compose of so many characters that’s why all of them can easily be tracked.

But unfortunately, this book is also composed of those "not so friendly" terms, but luckily, it's minimal compared to its first book, so you'll still enjoy this story. That's also one of the reasons behind my missing 1 star. What's the other reason? Well, I still think that the fourth book is the BEST! But oh, don't ever think that this book isn't worth to read ok? The 4 star rating below is the evidence ;)

And I save the best for last. I really am so in love with the ending. It was so romantic and it almost made me cry.

This story can also be read standalone, but I really recommend you'll read the first book first ;)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Somebody Like You, the second book in the Starlight Hill series, is even better than the first.
It’s easy to relate to the two main characters, Brooke and Billy because both have been through a crushing disappointment and are trying to rebuild their lives. Billy has suffered a career ending injury and Brooke has lost the promotion she has worked for due to the betrayal of her ex-boyfriend/ex-boss.
One of the things that I liked so much about Billy is that he is so family oriented. He buys a vineyard not only to rebuild his own life but also because owning the winery is a dream of his grandfathers. From the beginning he decides to make the winery a family business and throughout the book we get to meet his brothers, his mother and his grandfather.
Brooke is also easy to relate to. At first she seems to be tough and fearless because some of her unwinding activities include riding her motorcycle and sky diving but through the course of the book we see her more vulnerable side.
Somebody Like You was a great read and I am looking forward to reading more books by Heatherly Bell in the future.

I didn't read the first book in this series, but this was a freebie, so I decided to give it a chance.

Billy was hands down the best part of the book. He was generous, sweet and nice to everyone. An injury ended his professional baseball career, so he helps his grandfather realize his dream of owning a vineyard. He hires Brooke, the girl he kissed once in high school, to manage the place. I really didn't see what he saw in Brooke.

At first, I liked Brooke, but she quickly got on my last nerve. She was constantly hot and cold about Billy, and seemed to be judging him all the time. She had him pegged as a jerk and a womanizer with zero proof that he was either. She also held a huge grudge about high school, which seemed really childish.

This book was a bit on the long side, it dragged at times, especially when in Brooke's head. If it were 20-25% shorter it would help.

Brooke that girl is entertaining, "how pathetic would it be if someone caught her staring at his ***? “Quite a view, isn’t it?” Billy asked. Oh dang, busted. Wait. Was he now complimenting his own ***? Aha! He was every bit the conceited jock." The conversations Billy and Brooke have:
“I get it. So you’d rather not run into me when I’m all sweaty and half naked?”
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
“You do want to see me sweaty and half naked?” He grinned. Evil, evil man.
“No! That wouldn’t be appropriate.”
"Says the woman who walked out the front door in her panties.”
I loved this book and the characters.

★★ 1/2 stars

The plot was fine, and Billy was a great character. Brooke, the main female character, was written in such a way that she was annoying. For a college graduate, she never seems to get beyond her high years 10 years ago. This immaturity and repetition of the same old things detracted greatly from the story. There were also too many typos for a finished manuscript.

Brooke and Billy’s story is a former friends to lovers romance with some angst, snark and self-discovery included. Both are forging a new path in their lives, one neither expected but we’re forced to take after a major loss. Brooke had thought she would be getting a promotion but her rat of an ex boyfriend made sure that didn’t happen by replacing her with a younger inexperienced model. Buying a vineyard and competing with her ex seems to be a great idea for revenge, but Billy, a former pro baseball player, buys it before she can do so. Billy was forced to leave his baseball career behind much earlier than expected after a career ending injury. He wants the vineyard to become a family business venture and he knows he is going to need the help of someone who knows how to operate the vineyard. He sets his sights on Brooke as his general manager, but she doesn’t make it easy for him, but the chance to have revenge against her ex leads her to accepting the job. Let’s just say that working closely together leads to a more intimate closeness and passionate encounters, even though Brooke does her best to resist him.

I liked the strong, confident main characters, their chemistry and their building awareness and feelings for each other. Their story had an easy, pleasant flow that made this book a very enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Somebody like You ~ Starlight Hill #2 by Heatherly Bell.
Somebody Like you is a fantastic read, that's brilliantly written by Heatherly.
Heatherly is a brilliant writer. This story is just a very good read that keeps you guessing to the very end. really enjoyed this story. Some ups and downs together with humour and great characters. An easy read and of course best of all it all sorts out to a happy ever after! there's a kind of brilliance and beautiful insight in the way Heatherly weaves this tale, and she definitely gets into the characters and creates a detailed, believable world.
I highly recommend this to you all.

Billy and the whole crazy, loving Turlock family are my favorite things in this book. Brooke was not an easy character to like. In the beginning, she had my sympathy for the way her former boss treats her in the opening scene. However, her attitude quickly wore away at my consideration. She’s so aloof and guarded that even as the reader, I had difficulty connecting with Brooke. I loved seeing the sweet care Billy took to show her that he wasn’t the man she thought he was, and how he gently worked his way past her defenses. The happy ever after they’re able to achieve is absolutely beautiful, I just would have preferred to see more of the big mental changes that made it possible a little earlier in the story. Now I desperately want to know more about the rest of the Turlock clan.

Great characters and storyline.

Brooke had an affair with her boss, how do you break up with your boss?
“For the first time in her life, she’d made the mistake of sleeping with the boss. And it had cost her a promotion, not to mention a sense of self-respect.”
Now what? Where does she go from here?
Billy is a retired pro baseball pitcher looking for a new career. His grandfather thinks he should buy a vineyard. Unfortunately he buys the vineyard Brooke wanted. Billy offers her a job as general manager. Can they make the old vineyard into a prize winning vineyard together?
*Adult situations but not too graphic.

Amazing

I couldn't stop reading this book when I started. Brooke and Billy came an amazingly long way at the end of this story. Brooke never thought she would find love especially not with a jock and when she did, she was terrified. Billy couldn't believe that he was getting another chance with Brooke and when he did he realize he took the opportunity. Brooke was shocked when Billy confessed his feelings and couldn't believe it. I loved how after weeks of not seeing each other Brooke finally admitted that she loved Billy. This story is incredible and I hope you love it when you read it.

Okay, I just have to say it, I didn't like Brooke, at all. She was so mean to him almost all the time, stereotyped him so much, held a grudge for a single kiss they gave each other when they were 18 ( like you were young and it was only a kiss, he didn't promise you anything and neither did you, she held on to that in a way that was beyond ridiculous) , didn't give him an inch or tried to meet him half way. Billy deserved so much better than her, he was a total catch and she took him for granted over and over again, I was so sick of it. At least in the end she realized her mistakes and tried to make it better, so that was something, but not enough to deserve him

The dynamic between Brooke and Billy is electric. They have strong personalities and a few vulnerabilities that draw you into their world. The seriousness of running a vineyard and the realization of never playing baseball again is diluted with the charming and eccentric characters that surround Brooke and Billy. From the pitbull publicist, the elderly grandfather, two well-meaning mothers and an eager best friend, you will enjoy the journey of Brooke and Billy's relationship and the grand opening of Mirassu winery.

Brooke never thought about finding love as she was determined not to end up like her parents. Another reason was that she cared for Billy and was slated to go to the same college he was going to and when he decided not to go to college but chose the minor baseball league, she found out the same as everyone else did. Her heart was crushed. Now years later Billy is back. Will they find a second chance. Between these two, there is humor, love, a sweet grandfather, a health crazed mother, an organic mother, a demanding publicist, what more could you ask for right? Two strong willed people who have been on the receiving end of bad luck. Brooke for some poor choices and Billy with a career ending injury. When they both end up trying to purchase the same property, the sparks begin to fly.

I didn't really like Brooke for the longest time. Her own choices landed her in the predicament she is in. Billy on the other hand was very easy to like. He seems to be able to 'take' Brooke's attitude and turn her around.

Enjoyed the book. Perfect for a cool weather weekend, snuggled in your robe, with a hot beverage.

Brooke and Billy disappointed in what they expected from life.
Of course she soon realizes you don’t have an affair with one’s boss. She was hoping for a promotion, then tell him. Surprise party informing them of his fiancé and the new VIP, and it wasn’t her. For Billy one career has ended and now buying a vineyard. With Brooke needing a job, they knew each other in high school, new beginnings for both of them. Cute story, of changes, and finding true love.

I own almost all of Heatherly Bell's books. This one is my favorite in this series. Billy and Brooke's story just pulls me in. I couldn't put it down. My heart ached through the painful parts, but soared at the beautiful ending. It's been a long time since I've read this. It was just as great the second time around!

I enjoyed this story a little more than book 1, but there were a bunch of mistakes and typos it was a little distracting. The sex scenes were better in this book as well, not the closed door, did I skip a page that the last book had. Not overly graphic, but at least clear whether the deed was done or not. I liked both main characters a lot, even if Brooke could be frustrating, you could see the why. On to the next...

Honestly, Brooke annoyed me so much, I almost quit reading the book halfway through. I get that she has her issues, but whereas I think the author was going for sassy…the character was more b*tchy and abrasive.
Billy’s a good guy. I understand he sees beneath the bravado, but he deserved better. While the writing was fine, the characters did nothing for me.

This is the story of Billy and Brooke. Billy is the local town sports star come home. He played Pro Baseball until his shoulder gave out and now bought the Mirasou Winery, paying cash so it would close fast. He bought it for his grandfather and put it in his name making it a family legacy.
Brooke has been working at and running winery's for years now. The last one the owner gave her promised promotion to his non-experienced fiancee, so she quit.
Billy offers her the Manager position at his Winery but she had wanted to buy that Winery for herself, so she feels conflicted.
I 😍 loved this book as it was more than just a romance book.
Can be read as a standalone easy read HEA

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.

He could have had any girl he wished for, but one! She had an animosity for jocks and he wouldn't ever get to know her.
Except when he needed a manager for his vineyard and she knew everything that he needed.
Provided he could keep away from her.

Are jocks lovable?

Brooke and Billy are reunited at his winery. He is very interested in her but she hates jocks. She is the general manager and sparks fly and ever they talk. Can they overcome their differences?
