Welcome back to lands of Draconia, Valdis Maj, Helios, plus many more….
The lands are rich in magic…that helps ‘fuel’ those that protect…the dragons & their human companions, as well the gryphons, the fair folk, plus the virkin (small cat size dragons).
Tears of the Dragon takes place within Valdis Maj and the northern edges….
Malea, is an gem cutter, setting out not only on her first journeyman trip…but her fist ‘spy’ mission as well. She’s been tasked to look for gems for her mentor in gem cutting…but also tasked to keeping her ears & eyes open…because rumors are spreading of gem cutters being ‘recruited’ to cut diamonds…
She wasn’t expecting to cross paths with Kurt, someone she knew from her youth…they were both trained in glasswork…but Malea had more of an eye & hand for gem cutting.
After a meal together…they both realize that their ‘secondary’ missions are overlapping…Kurt was to keep an eye/ear open about mercenaries in the area…someone brought to their attention an dangerous looking knife…with an unnatural diamond blade.
They’re not ‘alone’ per say on the journey…two virkins are traveling with…which becomes beneficial when they need to bring the situation to the attention of the ‘local’ & ‘wild’ ice dragons….
Dragons…that can speak to select few…but until recently had stayed ‘hidden’ from human sight.
Can they handle the problem of diamond weapons? Will the ice dragons heed their concern? What about the virkins? The answers are in the pages of Tears of the Dragon.
I devoured this book in a day. I’ve loved this series from book one, and it’s one of the series that I will re-read at random times throughout the year—sometimes all of them, or sometimes just a book or two.
Now…I’m impatiently waiting for the next installment of the series…which will probably be at some point in 2026.
