First, credit where it’s due. Arnica Butler is a great writer. I’ve read nearly all her work and rated most five stars. I considered her a favorite author.
But, and it’s a big but. I’m seriously pissed at her right now. Two reasons.
One, she has misled, even duped readers with this book. She called the first book, titled “Twinning Not Like Jenna” book one of two. So I waited until two was released. It said book two of two. Guess what, it ends with no resolution, a complete cliffhanger. At the end she says stay tuned for book three in September. Why the heck would an author do that. Wants her money up front I guess. Mercenary at the expense of her readers.
Reason two, book one showed a loving conservative wife who was the good twin and said she wanted to stay that way. The husband just had the kink to see her let loose a little. I enjoyed that story.
Spoilers ahead
Then, in book two, OF THREE OR MORE, the wife became a raging BBC slut. All without husband’s agreement or knowledge. And the husband decides he wants to be bossed around and cucked. Good grief. Talk about giant plot leaps. Totally incongruous with book one.
I actually skipped and scanned most of the book. If I had any inkling of the direction this book went I would not have started the series. So again I feel duped. The author sucked me in with book one then blasted me with content I hate and try to avoid.
Gosh, I hate to feel like this but I’m not sure Ms Butler can redeem herself in my eyes. Sorry, just being honest.
It ends with a cliffhanger, so there's got to be a third book coming. Butler has written people about whom I can actually care, so when book three comes around, I'll read it. In the meantime, once again, the wife has, once prodded by her circumstances, gotten the bit between her teeth and is running, somewhat mindlessly, into her sexual escapades. The husband, too, seems a bit dim, but neither comes across as a blind idiot. There is a Machiavellian sister in the mix, too, tucked away in the Middle East, pulling strings from afar. I hope she gets back in the states to raise more trouble, in a more hands-on fashion, in the next book; with me, characters like that are far more fascinating than the puppets they manipulate.
The plot thickens as Jenna—texting away from Dubai where she's having plastic surgery or something—eggs Laura on in her exploration of Jenna's life and lifestyle.
Guys hit on Laura thinking she's Jenna.
It gets worse when Jenna secretly posts a video of Laura's private moments in Jenna's apartment, pretending she's Jenna. Laura doesn't know she made it.
Jenna's fans freak out. She's got a TWIN SISTER?
Mark is trying to navigate all this, enjoying his wife's lustful transformation without letting on that he's viewed Jenna's Only Fans page AGAIN.
