A baby on his doorstep. A couch-surfing woman in need of a place to stay. And one very bad idea…
Zane Raider is the last man in Smuggler’s Hideaway anyone would trust with a baby. So, of course, one shows up on his doorstep.
Which is how I end up in his kitchen, holding a bottle while trying not to stare at the way his T-shirt clings to all those muscles. I’m supposed to be the temporary nanny – just until he figures things out. He gets childcare. I get a roof over my head (and my dog gets a yard).
Easy.
Except Zane is a hot single dad with a bad boy past, a wicked smile, and a knack for making my heart race faster than his motorcycle. He smells like leather and trouble, grins like he knows exactly what I’m thinking, and somehow manages to look even better while rocking a baby at three a.m.
I keep telling myself I’m not falling for the guy who once made “commitment” sound like a prison sentence. But between the midnight feedings, his ridiculous brothers’ pranks, and the way he says our when he talks about the baby… I might be in serious trouble.
This single dad small-town romantic comedy features a man who has no intention of ever marrying – let alone having children – a woman who doesn’t understand the meaning of ‘on time’, a baby who throws chaos into the mix, and a band of prank-happy brothers who treat emotional growth like it’s a full-contact sport.
Since You Arrived is a standalone novel in TheRaider Brothers series.
Until it was Real – Rhett and Dakota’s story For the Promise – Jaxon and Blossom’s story From the Start – Kai and Harper’s story Since you Arrived – Zane and Sloane’s story After you Returned – Miles and Hazel’s story
D.E. Haggerty is actually just plain old Dena, but she thinks using initials makes her sound like one of the cool kids. She was born and raised in the U.S. but has spent the majority of her adult life abroad living in cool-sounding places like Istanbul, Heidelberg, and The Hague. She has job hopped from military policewoman to lawyer to B&B owner. She finally jumped off the job hopping bandwagon a few years ago when she decided to turn her addiction to romance novels into a career. If anyone has ideas on how to turn a love of wine into a job, she's all ears.
It's like going home everytime you start a Smugglers Cove book and this is no different. Sloane is a law unto herself, her heart is in the right place but no matter she's the one whose always on her own, except for her much loved dog. Now she's hoping for a promotion at work, but always running late isn't the best reference. Let's not start on her love life. Zane can't wait for his next adventure. That is until a knock on his door and a baby being left behind really put his whole life into question. He can't be a dad. He loves his one night stands, but that's it. Now he's got a gorgeous little girl in his arms, but can she really be his, he's always careful. What a brilliant story the chemistry between the two main characters is off the charts. However both have their own insecurities and Sloane has built her walls around her heart very high. Can the Ryder siblings and girlfriends help them admit their feelings. As always rumours spread easily around the cove and everyone becomes invested. Except will an unexpected arrival and a hospital visit put an end to them before the even admit how they feel. I can't wait for another installment one more brother to go.
Thanks Booksirens for allowing me to be on the review team of this book. Warning lots of spice, loads of details and bit of cursing (swear jar came out in the book if that tells you anything). Even with that being said I really enjoyed the Raider brothers they are like a Wolfe pack and Jessica (mom of 6 yes 6 boys) the amazing pack leader of these feral wolf pups! I haven’t read any of the other books in this series but I’m tempted to. I love Sloane’s backstory, well I actually want to punch her non existent mother but she survived it and now is skeptical as well she should be. Hard life to lead. Then Zane the man whore. The book says player but let’s just say the truth here, man w h o r e! He gets some girl pregnant doesn’t remember her or anything about her. Yet Daisy remember him and drops her baby off with him. The best thing that could have happened to him if you ask me. This book has such a great storyline. The characters grow and you feel as if you know them. That is how good a job this author does. Brings the book to life.
Oh how I love this series! The focus this time round is on Sloane and Zane. Zane gets an unexpected visitor one day. Her name is Daisy and she has come to leave him with the baby she says is his. To say Zane is dumbstruck is an understatement but he throws himself ( with help!) into being a dad. Sloane finds herself needing somewhere to live and unexpectedly finds herself staying with Zane on the pretence of being the nanny. However there is plenty of sexual chemistry between the two of them……. Could Zane, who has always been known as a player, be ready to have a relationship and can Sloane let anyone in after her previous experiences? I really love how the characters interact and even though there’s plenty of spice and humour there is always a serious thread running through. Family, friendships, community and support for others are always covered in books by Dena. A brilliant addition to a brilliant series!

Sloane and Zane are adorable in this 4th book of The Raider Brothers. It is such a fun book with all the banter and the cosy vibes. A total binge read from start to finish as these two fight their feelings for each other amidst being enemies. If you love an enemies-to-lovers romance with baby daddy vibes, this is definitely for you. Since You Arrive is my favourite book in The Raider Brothers series. Kerry Kennedy Author
“Since You Arrived” by D. E. Haggerty is another delightful installment in the Raider brothers series. Zane and Sloane have been teasing each other for ages, and now their story is finally here! The plot is fantastic, and it unfolds at a perfect pace as Zane discovers the joys of fatherhood and his deepening connection with Sloane. The setting is so relaxing, it really sets the mood for the story. It’s easy to read and follow along. Boozer the dog was such a hit, and I’ll always remember him fondly. The sweet and happy ending is wonderful, and I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received a digital ARC of this book. I beg to get early copies because I can’t wait to read each book in the series. This is book 4 in the series, and could technically be read as a stand alone, however the 2 main characters are in the previous 3 books and their history starts there. Plus, there are spoilers to the couples in books 1-3. Zane is a Raider brother, they come from a loud, close knit family of all boys. Smuggler’s Rest is a small island town so everyone knows everything 2 minutes after it happens. Zane is a player, even though he’s wanted Sloane for a long time. That’s how he ends up with a woman he doesn’t remember dropping a baby on his doorstep. Sloane doesn’t trust anyone thanks to her childhood except her dog. But her dog is the reason she’s sleeping in her car when Zane finds her. She needs a place to live, he needs help with this baby that was dropped off, what could possibly go wrong? I read this book in one day. Dena pulls you in from the start and keeps you turning the pages. You’ll be routing for Zane and Sloane to become a cute little family! Now I impatiently wait for book 5 in the series.
Zane Raider has a baby! Or at least he might have one and he needs help navigating how to care for one.
Sloane Wilder is in need of a new home and fast. She reluctantly agrees to nanny for Zane, but knows its a mistake due to her attraction for him that she refuses to let go any further due to his player status.
They both find that taking care of a baby requires team work and close proximity that won't allow them to keep denying what is obvious to others.
With both having past that they would rather move on from will they be able to move forward together?
Another Raider brother story that will keep you turning pages until the end. Ive been devouring each one while revisiting their family with prank wars, whiskey and so much love all on an island with a lazy seal, mermaids and smugglers!
Miles has his story next, I can't wait
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book via Booksirens.
Oh I do love a good rom com and this is certainly a good rom com, returning to Smugglers Hideaway is like meeting up with friends. Wealthy, handsome Zane Rider's excitement was at fever pitch, his bags were packed and he was about to ride his motor cycle through South America. Zane was one of six brothers who owned the Buccaneer Whiskey Distillery, he was mad about extreme sports, he loved women, but he was a "love em and leave em "kind of guy, Zane had no intention of ever settling down, let alone having a family until ......... A beautiful woman, a woman who he couldn't even remember, dumped a baby on his doorstep stating that her name was Adel, that she was his daughter and that it was his turn to look after her, Zane was frantic, he was always careful, he was off to South America, but when he looked at the baby, it was his own blue eyes staring back at him. Sloan Wilder's life had been traumatic, father unknown, mother who was a serial philanderer, Sloan had tried to turn her life round, she was working at the Rumrunner speakeasy and hoping for promotion, but this was a forlorn hope, because of her circumstances she was always late and now, because she insisted on keeping her beloved dog, she had been turned out of her apartment. On hearing news of the baby, the whole of the Raider clan stepped up, Zane had everything that the baby could possibly need, but what he really needed was someone to look after the baby when he was at work, the baby that he was quickly warming to. When Zane caught Sloan sleeping in her car, he thought that she would be the perfect candidate, he had drooled over Sloan for years but , knowing his reputation, she would have nothing to do with him. Sloan knew that it was a bad idea, moving in with Zane as nanny to Adel, Sloan had always been attracted to Zane, she knew that she should say no , but desperate time called for desperate measures. This is Sloan and Zane's story as he tries his best to show her that he had changed and she tries her best not to fall in love, all tied up with the fabulous Raider family support, their pranks, their bets and most of all their loyalty and love. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Since You Arrived is a warm, comforting small-town romance that leans into heart, healing, and found-family vibes. It starts with a classic romance twist—a baby, unexpected responsibility, and two people whose lives collide at exactly the wrong (and right) moment—and quickly settles into a story that’s easy to sink into.
The characters are genuinely likable, and I especially enjoyed watching the relationship grow naturally amid everyday moments, emotional vulnerability, and a whole lot of adjustment. The small-town setting adds that familiar, cozy backdrop where everyone cares (sometimes a little too much), and it gives the story a soft, reassuring rhythm.
✨ Tropes you’ll find along the way: 👶 Single Dad Romance 🏡 Small-Town Charm 💕 Slow-Build Connection 🤍 Found Family Feels 🩹 Healing from the Past ❤️ Sweet, Emotion-Forward Love Story
A few plot beats are on the predictable side, which is the only reason this lands at four stars instead of five—but the emotional payoff and gentle pacing make it a very satisfying read.
Overall, Since You Arrived is a cozy, heartfelt romance that delivers comfort, connection, and just enough swoon to keep you smiling. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something soft, emotional, and uplifting.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Returning to Smuggler’s Hideaway is always such fun and I just can't get enough of the residents (human and animals) in this interesting town. The Raider Brothers are always up to one mischief or another with their pranks but they are always there for each other when a brother/loved one needs help. This time it's Zane that has landed himself in trouble with a baby and no idea what's the 'right' thing he should do. Enter Sloane to help as nanny and the rest of the family rallying to support and of course meddle. Both Zane and Sloane have always been attracted to each other but their own insecurities prevented them from acting on that attraction. As Sloane's childhood is revealed, her behaviour/actions start to make sense and it's a painful reminder that childhood trauma shapes you and how you view the world. Zane has his own issues to overcome and he does mess up but I love how he admits to his faults and fights to convince Sloane of his love and that they are perfect for each other. The story flowed beautifully and you're in for a fun, sweet, emotional, steamy read and won't want it to end… can't wait for Miles and Harper's story next!
Thank you to BookSirens for providing me with an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a quick, cute, and delightfully light love story. The author does a fantastic job of immediately plunging the reader into the characters' lives, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the ride.
What truly carries the story is watching the characters grow and ultimately learn to love together. However, my main critique is that I would have loved to see more "showing" instead of "telling," particularly concerning the central yearning between Zane and Sloane. We are told they are crazy about each other, but more scenes demonstrating that intense attraction would have made their connection feel even more earned. Additionally, the constant reminder that the couple couldn't be together did become a bit repetitive. I was grateful, though, that the self-sabotage element was resolved swiftly, allowing the focus to shift back to their relationship development.
Overall, it’s a fun, charming read. Knowing this is part of a series, the preview glance into brother Miles's story was intriguing, and I'm definitely not opposed to picking up the next book!
Another Raider brother finds his match 4.5 ⭐️ 2.5 🌶️ I’m loving this series - the Raider Brothers and their partners, the hilarious pranks the brothers partake in and now it’s Zane and Sloane’s turn to turn up the heat and show each other that they are perfect together. Him being a player and her having had a terrible upbringing adds to their outlooks on relationships being a no go. Until a baby is literally dumped on Zane’s doorstep and that night both their lives change. This is a story of a single dad’s struggle to learn how to step up and look after the child he never knew he had. Striking a deal with the gorgeous Sloane and hiring her to be a nanny for his child is not only brilliant but has him feeling and thinking things he never thought he’d ever want in his life. I loved the characters plus who wouldn’t love a story that had a gorgeous little baby in it, I sure did. A great addition to the series. I’m looking forward to the last Raider brothers story - Miles and Hazel.

This is a story about two people coming to terms with a parent in their lives that should have made them their whole world, who should have loved them and nurtured them but instead abandoned one and completely ignored they other. It's amazing that Sloane has such a loving and caring heart with the mother she has. Zane is a playboy that doesn't do relationships, until a woman from his past shows up with a big surprise and forces the issue. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I loved reading how both Sloane and Zane come to terms with their past to become the best thing that happens to the other. I gotta say I was pretty disappointed in Zane when he was talking to the doctor in the hospital about Adele. It broke my heart the way he referred to Sloane. It was cringe worthy!!
The loved the part of the story where Sloane walks into the bathroom while Zane was taking a shower, OMG I laughed myself silly!! I did miss the normal pranks that the Raider brothers love to play. Excellent story!! I've really enjoyed this entire series!!
It’s hard to hide a dog, especially one that is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Great Dane named Boozer, but that is what Sloane is trying to do as she is not to have a dog in her apartment. However, she has a nosy neighbor Melanie who reports to the owner and ends up caught and has two days to be out. Being a playboy, Zane Raider didn’t recognize the woman at his doorstep with a baby she claims is his. It was a drop and go and all he got out of her was her name is Daisy. When he looked down at the baby girl whose name is Adele, he knew she was his as she had his beautiful eyes. When he shows up with the baby at the bar Sloane works at for his bothers help, Sloane ends up taking the baby to comfort her. It ends up with Zane needing a nanny and Sloane needing a place to live that will take a dog, she takes the job as his nanny. To find out how things work out, you will find a story filled with everything from having you laughing, commitment issues, and emotions.

Zane Raider is planning on heading on a new adventure when a former fling shows up with a baby, claiming Adele is Zane’s daughter. He has no clue what to do with a baby. Sloane Wilder is a local bartender who has recently become homeless because she has a dog, Boozer. Zane hires Sloane to be his live-in nanny. Zane is a player so Sloane has no intentions of falling for him. The Raider brothers are happy to meet their newest niece. Zane’s mom, Jessica, is thrilled to have another grandchild. The brothers, their wives and girlfriends, work on matchmaking Zane and Sloane. Zane doesn’t want to be like his dad and Sloane doesn’t want to be like her mom so they have more in common than they thought. We get to experience Zane fall in love with his daughter. You need to read this book to see if Zane gets to keep his daughter and Sloane as his family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Love the Raider brothers series. The latest is another must read. Zane is one of the wild child brothers. Spends as more time chasing the rush than in the office as marketing director. But that not to say he doesn’t do his job. His marketing campaigns are part of what makes the brewery so successful. He’s had his eye on Sloan for some time but she does not give off any approachable vibes. Then suddenly a baby is dropped in Zane’s arms and he realizes he’s out of his expertise. Enter Sloan to help on baby duty. By day she helps with Adele and still able to work the bar at night. The two together work and I enjoyed following along as they developed into a relationship neither were looking for but definitely needed. Another wonderful chapter to the Raider brothers. Here’s to their smuggling ways and the mermaids that capture their hearts! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Adventuring Playboy Is Overnight Dad - Needs Troubled "Hot Mess" Nanny and Dog - Perfect!
Another winner in the Raider brothers series! Although Sloan and Zane may have had a distant attraction in the past, nothing was happening because of her job and her wanting to stay out of trouble (away from the Raiders) to get a promotion not to mention his player ways. But her dog gets her evicted (and sleeping in her car) and his daughter dropped on his porch has him in instant need of a nanny but with a spare bedroom. The solution entails chemistry, attraction, banter, close proximity and an adorable baby that they both love - what could go wrong (or right?). And there is also the "found" Raider family - parents, siblings and girlfriends which is perfect for Sloan and great support for baby Adele and everything to love about this series. Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
On his way to celebrate his younger brother's love with the family, Zane gets a surprise dropped off. A baby. Ans not just any baby, his baby. Zane is a carefree traveler. He may be the marketing manager for Bucaneer's Whiskey & Distillery, but he's a free spirit (and it's a family business). How can Zane survive this?
In walks Sloane… running late as usual. It's not her fault though. She just found out she's being evicted! Zane & Sloane seem perfect together. Sloane can nanny so Zane can still get by with life and Sloan has a place to stay that will accommodate her dog. Win-win. And it is a win until feelings come into play. Is Zane cut out to be a father? And what about when the baby mama comes back into the picture? Where does that leave Sloane?
Oh, the Raider Brothers. Their saga continues with Zane and this story does not disappoint. Loved it and can't wait for the next installment.
Sweet story! Zane, the player, learns that he is a father - surprise! But very quickly also learns that relationships and commitment, which he has always run from, can sneak up on you. His protective instincts flare, and protecting and nurturing Adele becomes his priority over his own wants. He realizes that not only is he not his dad (abandoning his family), but that that doesn’t have to be his future. He can take responsibility and build a family, not run from it. Sloane, too, learns she doesn’t have to be like her mom - flighty, irresponsible, self-centered. She can make different choices and what she really wants is a settled home and a family of her own. She has strong reservations about Zane being able to settle down even though he has had a good role model in his supportive mom and brothers. I enjoyed Sloane and Zane growing into their feelings. Angst, steam, sweetness. Good read!
I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
Starting a Smuggler’s Cove book always gives me that coming-home-after-too-long feeling. Sloane was such a compelling heroine. Messy but lovable, chronically late, fiercely independent, and emotionally armored like a walking fortress. ou want to shake her a little, but mostly you just want to be her friend because she's you ! And then there’s Zane. Certified “no-strings-attached” king, allergic to commitment, and absolutely convinced fatherhood is a four-letter word. So naturally, a baby gets left on his doorstep. His reaction? Peak chaos. But watching him go from player mode to protective-dad mode was honestly heart-melting. Their chemistry? Explosive. The kind that makes everyone around them roll their eyes like, “Just kiss already.” But beneath the humor and the spice, there’s real vulnerability.
Ready and waiting for the next Raider brother to fall. Miles, I’m seated !
Zane with a baby is the story I needed in my life right now! His world is rocked when a baby is dropped on his doorstep. He goes all in for the baby and I loved how supportive his family was. Sloan needs a place to stay and she used to be a nanny so she ends up at Zane’s house as his temporary nanny…it is only temporary right?
I loved the chemistry between Zane and Sloan…they both tried to fight their feelings and the tension between them was so good! I really loved how he would stick up for her and defend her, especially around her mother.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Smuggler’s Hideaway without some small town shenanigans and of course some Raider brother pranks!
Also, can I just say that I LOVED the chapter titles/captions!!!
✨What To Expect: 💖Romantic Comedy 🏡Small Town Vibes 🧢Single Dad 💋Couch Surfing Nanny 🏍️Bad Boy 😂Witty Banter 💞 Found family 🧜🏻♀️ Mermaids 🧨 Brotherly Pranks
I am loving the Raider Brothers series. This books is the story of Zane's HEA. The playboy who becomes a father overnight learns that there is more to life than women and the thrills of high risk behaviors. Sloane yearns for a family and has to learn to trust Zane despite similarities to the circumstances surrounding her birth (her father was a playboy who abandoned her mother and her mother was too wrapped up in herself to actually be a mother).
This is a story of choices (good and bad), character growth, found family, and realizing what you really want is something you never expected to want or find in the first place. This story will hit you in the feels as Zane and Sloane learn to trust and believe in themselves and in the power of love. Oh, and grab some tissues for the hospital scene (Adele is fine, but everything else that happens is an emotional gut punch).
Since You Arrived was a great story for Zane. Being the carefree Raider brother with an adrenaline addiction, you wouldn’t think parenthood would be a good fit for him. He took to it so fast, albeit begrudgingly at first, and really evolved into a great father. I was happy he realized his lifestyle was not conducive to raising a baby. Add Sloane with her giant dog, who needs a little help herself. Together they make up a great family. I typically don't love the Single Dad trope, but this one was worth the read!
I really enjoyed this book, and as always, devoured it in a day. I can’t wait to find out more about the Raider brothers. The more I learn, the more I love them! I recommend reading the books in order, but it’s not necessary, you just won’t fully appreciate the relationship these brothers have! Pick it up today!
I am so going to miss these guys after the last book. Zane has been the playboy who had eyes for Sloan but she wasn't having it. But she's been drawn to him anyways. We find out about Sloan's background and its a doozy. Zane is exactly the kind of guy she doesn't need. But life throws you curves and Zane just had the most adorable little girl dropped on his doorstep by a mother he doesn't remember but this girl has the Raider blue eyes. Cue Sloan's living arrangements or lack of due to Boozer. And Zane has a white knight moment when he offers her a place to stay. And the guy needs lessons in diaper changing and a baby's care. Mom, his brothers and their girls make this a delightful, prankful story. I'm going to miss this crew after Miles story!
I was so excited when I got the ARC for this book. I've read the first book in the series before and it was sooo good! I haven't had a chance to read the second or third yet but those are on my TBR!! Smuggler’s Hideaway just sounds like a fantastic place to visit and of course you would have to stop at Buccaneer's Whiskey & Distillery! Zane is planning to leave on a two week trip driving a motorcycle through South America. However, he get's a baby dropped off with him instead. He's not prepared to take care of his baby that he's just learning about. Luckily Sloane is able to help. She is being evicted due to her dog Boozer. She needs a place to live and Zane needs someone to watch his Adele. Cue the chemistry that they fight but keeps getting hotter. This is absolutely a wonderful book that I highly recommend checking the whole series out. You won't regret it!
I have to admit that learning about his unexpected baby at the end of Kai and Harper’s book was definitely surprising! After reading the previous books in the series, I honestly expected Zane to be mostly irresponsible and a player (insert surprise baby here. What I didn’t expect was to swoon right along with Sloane when Zane was fawning and being protective of his baby girl!
I was unsure about Sloane and her (what initially appeared to be) flightiness. The more I learned about her and her past, the more I softened and was rooting for her. Her story is a sad one, and it’s one that makes me angry, but I also love the person she became with Zane and Adele!
I can’t wait to find out what will happen with Miles and Hazel!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
I love this author and this series. This 4th book in the series has a bit less humor and pranks (we hear about prior pranks and Sammy the Seal but don't see much new action) but FULL of emotion. Zane and Sloane have known and wanted each other for a long time but have avoided any kind of relationship because Zane didn't do relationships and Sloane wasn't interested in a player and a one night stand. But when a woman he doesn't even remember shows up and dumps a baby on Zane's doorstep they end up falling for both the baby and each other. As per usual with D.E. Haggerty's books it was hard to put this one down once I started and the steam and emotion were off she charts. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another fun and somewhat emotional read in this series. Zane has a visit from Daisy, a previous one night stand that he doesn't remember. She leaves their baby daughter Adele with him. As he struggles to come to terms with being a father, his family rallies round and brings him supplies. When he finds Sloane sleeping in her car with her dog, he offers her a solution to her homeless state. She can stay in his guest room and work as Adele's nanny. The problem is that they are both attracted to each other. But Zane has always been a player and Sloane will not get involved in a relationship with him. However, as Zane settles into fatherhood he becomes a man that Sloane can fall for and he in turn falls for her too.
Sloane and her extra large dog Boozer are one step away from homelessness. Zane is presented at his front door w/ a baby girl and is told she’s yours and I’m done. Not the kind of adrenaline Zane thrives on but his new reality. So Sloane moves in w/ Zane to provide childcare for baby Adele and put a roof over Sloane and Boozer’s heads. Together things start to feel a lot like family, something both adults have always thought was not what they want in life. Of course, many smugglers and mermaids are involved and much laughter bursts from me. I can’t wait for Miles story to share how the next Raider brother meets the love of his life. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
