"Addiction Unplugged: How to Be Free acknowledges that for far too long, we have all been playing out a victim consciousness, convincing ourselves that dependency and powerlessness are absolutely fundamental to the human condition. Nowhere is this belief more deeply ingrained than in the world of addiction and in the traditional treatment and recovery programs available to the masses.
Drawing on modern-day scientific discoveries, ancient spiritual wisdom, and real-life testimonies, John Flaherty presents readers with the practical means to move beyond the drama of addictive behaviors; leading the way out from victim mentality and into a more compelling, spiritually liberating, and empowered way of living.
Warm and inspirational, this profound message comes into your life when you need it desperately. It brings you to a new level of conscious awareness and helps you uncover the judgments, beliefs, and thoughts that have kept you fearful, limited, and suppressed.
Addiction Unplugged: How to Be Free is a book for the twenty-first century. It is a radical departure from the traditional ways of treating addictions, presenting revolutionary new insights and groundbreaking processes which open the way to an entirely different experience of yourself."
John Flaherty is an experienced teacher of spiritual and emotional well-being. An expert in the field of addictions, he has inspired people in many different parts of the world to be free of their addictive behaviours and to live a more fulfilled existence. John began his career as a Catholic priest, but after eleven years he made a life-changing decision to leave the priesthood and to begin his own personal journey of self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-empowerment. Further academic study gave him a BA with honours in theology from Leeds University, England, and a master's in drug and alcohol policy from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
Searching always for the most effective and progressive tools to move beyond limiting beliefs and fears, John became a master practitioner of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), time line therapy and hypnosis, and then gained certification as a master practitioner and trainer of Meridian Energy Psychology.
Dedicated to assisting others to transcend their own challenges of life, John's life journey has taken him from England to Ireland and to Canada, where in both the statutory and private sectors he established and managed innovative projects and psychotherapy services for those addicted to alcohol and substance use, for the care of those affected by HIV/AIDS and for the emotional care of families and loved ones. John has developed his own unique and powerful approaches for raising the human spirit, and for more than twenty-five years he has been inspiring and mentoring each person to find emotional freedom, increased confidence, and personal peace.
Everyone should read this book wether they struggle with addiction or not. John writes from the heart and is doing so much to help people be free from the struggles of life that we create in our own minds. John guides you into finding your way back to your source, that place that we all share and that we are all born with, it never leaves us but just gets clouded by thoughts that create illusions and make us believe we are not good enough. This is a book of hope for all looking to find freedom from addiction and for everyone looking for peace of mind.
Although most of the ideas in this book are quite popular in the spiritual literature, the book is written in a very inspirational and moving way. Also the author presents plenty of case studies which bring a lot of aha moments about the different ways our ego trick us into harmful behaviours and misery.
This book significantly impacted my life and delivered calm when I thought I’d never experience it again... I then forgot to remember to read up... on a manual for life.... I’ve just revisited John M.O. and along with some routines, I feel calm again and I’m ready for challenges ahead. Thank You John
Its a good book, but I think I would have appreciated it more if I were farther along a spiritual journey. Intellectually I understood the message but emotionally and spiritually I had a hard time getting into this book. Still worth the read though.
