For DI Samira "Sam" Buckley, duty isn’t just part of the job - it’s a way of life. After a painful divorce, Sam moves to Edinburgh for a hard-won promotion, determined to rebuild her life with her twelve-year-old son, Max. But on day one, she’s met with thin smiles and open hostility.

Her first case centres on a missing resident from an upscale retirement village.
“Just an old dear who’s wandered off,” according to her sergeant.
But Sam’s not buying it.
Pulled in every direction by Max’s struggles at a new school, her mother's caring for family in Morocco, and the pressure of leading a team that doesn’t know what to make of her, Sam’s got more than a mystery to solve. She’s got something to prove.

Duty Bound is the first in a four-book arc following DI Sam Buckley.
With themes of justice, motherhood, and personal resilience, this emotionally charged procedural will appeal to fans of Ann Cleeves, Susie Steiner, and character-driven crime fiction with a strong female lead.

Perfect for readers who enjoy a slower burn, layered mysteries, and the messy intersection of work and home life.

It can be read as a standalone police procedural series or enjoyed as part of a unique a shared-world thriller series where two women walk opposite sides of the law. For the full picture, explore the companion novels by Miss Wolfe, which follow the woman Sam is destined to pursue.

This was an emotional rollercoaster.
Sam has got the promotion she deserves but with it comes a price. She has had to move 200 miles away from her friends and takes a position in Edinburgh as a D.I
Sam has to try and fit in. Her son, Max isn’t having an easy time either as he tries to fit in at school.
With no support network, she has to prove she has what it takes to lead her team whilst also making sure Max is okay.
