There are some stories that don’t knock at your door with grand entrances — they slip in quietly, like a whisper in a crowded room. His Last Note by Harshitha Rajala is one of those. It doesn’t come at you with noise or spectacle, but with the fragile intimacy of two strangers exchanging scribbles on paper, and before you know it, you’re holding your breath, waiting for the next note as if it were left for you.

Harshitha Rajala has taken something as ordinary as a handwritten note on public transport and turned it into a quiet, breathtaking exploration of love, loss, and the conversations we never get to have. The premise is deceptively simple: two strangers, Meera and Arjun, never exchange names or words, yet they find each other through notes left on a bus seat. In those scribbled lines blooms a fragile bond—one built on silence, curiosity, and vulnerability. And then, just as life feels suspended in this fragile sweetness, silence takes over in another way: Arjun disappears, leaving Meera with absence as her only companion.

What makes the book stand out is Harshitha’s writing style. It isn’t ornate or flowery; it’s pared down, almost minimalist, and that’s exactly what makes it powerful. The words carry weight because of what they don’t say. Each chapter feels like listening to the soft echo of someone else’s thoughts. The pacing is steady, like a bus journey itself—moments of stillness punctuated by sudden jolts of emotion.

Meera, to me, felt like someone you’ve seen in passing—head tilted to the window, lost in thought, invisible to the noisy world around her. Arjun, meanwhile, comes alive not through grand gestures but through quiet scribbles, as if his handwriting itself breathes on the page. I found myself longing to know more about him, even as the book insists on keeping that mystery intact. And that’s the beauty: it mirrors real life, where sometimes the people who touch us most are the ones we barely know.

The structure of the story reflects this theme of fleeting intimacy. Notes, silences, seasons—they weave together like strands of a soft song that lingers long after it’s over. There are no dramatic plot twists or cinematic declarations of love. Instead, it’s the absence of noise that grips you. The book is less about what happens and more about what it feels like, which makes it both unique and haunting.

And then there are the themes. His Last Note reminded me that silence can be louder than words, that longing can ache more than heartbreak, and that invisibility—the feeling of not being seen—might be the deepest wound of all. At one point, I caught myself thinking about the countless conversations we never start, the feelings we tuck away, the notes we never write. In today’s hyper-connected, noisy world, where every thought is tweeted or posted, a story like this feels almost radical. It whispers: maybe the most powerful connections are the quiet ones.

Emotionally, the book hit me in waves. There were pages where I smiled, pages where I felt a hollow ache, and one or two scenes that had me staring at the ceiling long after I’d closed the Kindle, wondering about the “what ifs” of my own life. If I had a small critique, it would be that at times the repetition of longing and silence dragged a little. But in hindsight, maybe that was intentional—after all, longing itself is repetitive, isn’t it?

I loved how Harshitha balanced simplicity with depth. The imagery—rain on bus windows, the hush of city nights, the whisper of a pen on paper—made me feel like I was right there, overhearing something intimate. And though I wasn’t completely satisfied with the ending (who ever is, with stories about absence?), I understood why it had to be that way. Not all connections are meant to be neatly tied up. Some linger, unfinished, like notes left behind.

Personally, this book reminded me of a time when I, too, kept a little journal of unspoken words, addressed to no one in particular. Reading His Last Note felt like flipping back through those pages—private, tender, and a little bit painful.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially to anyone who loves quiet love stories that don’t shout for attention but instead settle softly in your chest. Fans of books like Norwegian Wood or films like The Lunchbox will find themselves right at home here.

In the end, His Last Note isn’t just a love story. It’s a meditation on silence, on the ways we reach out and the ways we retreat, on how a simple note can carry the weight of a lifetime. It left me quiet, thoughtful, and oddly comforted. Let’s just say sleep wasn’t happening that night—I had too much to feel.

Rating? For me, a tender 4.5/5. And if you do read it, maybe keep a notebook handy. You might find yourself wanting to write a note of your own.

Some stories express heartfelt emotion not through grand gestures or even spoken words; they use silence to touch your soul, and His Last Note is one such story.

The book follows a poignant, heartbreaking and delicate bond between Meera and Arjun, two strangers who fell in love in not any traditional, swoon-worthy romantic way. Their relationship blooms by sharing each other's silence, and only their note speaks to each other in a bus seat. Their intimacy is unique, fragile and eternal. They don’t exchange names, and they don’t share voices, but somehow, they begin to understand each other more deeply than anyone else ever has.

The author here captures the profoundness of silence in midst of social media chatter, constant overthinking and half hearted conversations, but this book gently reminds us that simplicity & stillness bring a certain quality to life and that real connections don't always need words.

Meera’s silent longing and Arjun’s unspoken warmth are written with such tenderness that you can’t help but root for them, even though you know from the beginning that this will not be a happy ending love story. The turning point when Arjun suddenly disappears is heartbreaking because of all those feelings that are left unsaid and all the conversations they could not have.
The prose is gentle, poetic, and full of emotions. Each chapter feels like discovering silence deeper, which starts becoming louder than words.

If you’re someone who enjoys stories with emotional depth rather than dramatic twists. This book will give you an experience of a quiet yet powerful story. It’s a reminder that love needs the presence of finding someone who understands you as a person, which does not necessitate words. His last note is heartbreaking, tender, and unforgettable

In a world obsessed with instant messages and loud confessions, this book reminds us that sometimes, the most powerful conversations happen without a single word spoken. This story isn’t about grand gestures or dramatic twists; it’s about the kind of love that grows quietly, almost shyly, between two souls who meet by chance.

Meera and Arjun’s story begins with a note left on a bus seat, and from that small act, something extraordinary unfolds. They never exchange names, never hear each other’s voices, yet their connection becomes stronger with every piece of paper passed between them. Through their silence, the author paints a love that feels pure, fragile, and timeless.

The writing is poetic yet simple, filled with emotions that flow naturally rather than being forced. Each chapter feels like a whisper, slowly revealing the depth of what it means to love, to lose, and to remember. Meera’s quiet longing and Arjun’s gentle warmth are portrayed with such sensitivity that you find yourself rooting for them, even as you sense heartbreak waiting in the shadows.

When Arjun disappears, the silence becomes heavier, almost unbearable, yet achingly beautiful. You don’t just read Meera’s grief; you feel it.

This book isn’t just a love story; it’s an experience. It leaves you thoughtful, teary-eyed, and grateful for the rare kind of connection that speaks louder than words ever could.

I was surprised by this book's exquisite and extremely uncommon idea. It is a silent tale of people who are full of things to say but find it difficult to express them. Although it can be a little monotonous at times, this only serves to heighten the authenticity of the characters' feelings. You feel as though you should reach into the pages and give them a reassuring hug because it genuinely touches your heart. I haven't read a book this emotionally charged in a long time.

The story revolves around a bus conversation between two strangers, Meera and Arjun, in which they exchange notes in silence. Despite their silence, they are inextricably linked. How much emotion could be expressed without using a single word astounded me.

Each chapter is a revelation of a new form of intimacy that seems louder and more significant than words thanks to the author's poetic and profoundly moving gentle prose. I have never read of such a tender and moving relationship between Meera and Arjun.

Through handwritten messages and moments of silence, their relationship develops into a delicate and special bond. They gain a deep understanding despite not knowing one another's names or voices. It feels so delicate and ideal how Meera decodes Arjun's coded messages. It's a very unique and heartbreaking read.

✨ Book Review: His Last Note by Harshitha Rajala ✨

“Don’t look for me, just remember…me.
If remembering him is all I have left, then I will remember him so loudly that the world will hear.” 💔

A stranger who writes letters.
A girl by the window who reads them.
And between them, a silent love that grows in whispers and lingers in echoes.

His Last Note is not just a book—it’s an ache carved into pages. The story tore me apart quietly, without demanding a single tear, yet leaving a storm inside.

The letters, the silences, the unspoken bond—they reminded me of the film Lunchbox, where words on paper became lifelines, and silence spoke louder than speech. Here too, the notes played a character of their own, carrying both love and pain.

I found myself wishing he had never written that very first note—tucked in the seat of a bus that silently witnessed their tears. Maybe then her heart wouldn’t have been broken. But fate has its own ways…

And when the moment finally came for them to meet, I held my breath, hoping for happy tears. Instead, the ending shattered me more than I could have imagined.

It’s a short read—you can finish it within an hour—but the story will linger far longer. Some books fade, but this one leaves its silence behind, humming in your heart.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 for breaking me beautifully.

♥️She finds a handwritten note, near the window seat where she always sits, curiosity piqued and she starts to read…………

♥️A girl who is always silent in her own way, not triggered by the background noise, she and her thoughts. The story changed when she read the note. She started to care about the note left by someone who replied to it ….. notes, journals, she cared for someone and they felt visible in her caring……..

♥️Author has well penned the story, each word and chapters felt the depth emotionally. The words carried the weight of the emotions the story conveyed by the character. Some things don’t need to be happy to find the best ending. Some people deep down tend to crave for visibility, as they are invisible in their own world. A deep pain could be carried without feeling it heavy within us, even knowing the truth.

♥️The story is well developed, a page turner, easy to read but it makes you feel deep and hollow, and the writing style keeps you till the end and lingers in your mind after the end too. I loved the way she conveyed the story in different settings and places, a simple gesture where life turns the pathway way more different.

♥️A really deep emotional novel……….

📖 Book Review 📖

I just finished reading His Last Note by Rajala Harshitha, and I am still thinking about it.
This story is about Meera and Arjun, two strangers who never meet properly but connect through silent notes on a bus.
I loved how the book showed that even without names or voices, love and understanding can grow.
The idea felt new to me, and very touching.
As I read, I felt Meera’s excitement, her waiting, and later her pain when the notes stopped.
The writing is simple but full of emotions that go straight to the heart.
I could almost see the bus, feel the rain, and hear the silence.
The story also reminded me how absence can hurt more than harsh words.
I liked how the book balanced hope with sadness.
Arjun’s struggles were written with honesty, and Meera’s longing felt real.
The mystery of their bond kept me turning pages.
By the end, I realized it was not just a love story but also about loneliness and healing.
This book made me feel quiet inside, like I had just listened to a soft song.

It is a short novel, but one that lingers long after finishing.
My favourite line from the book was: “Some days, my mind is a room with no windows. No doors. Just darkness.”

Rating: 4/5
Happy Reading 📚

Sometimes love finds us in the most unexpected places, in the smallest of gestures, and in the silence of words written on paper. His Last Note by Rajala Harshitha is one such tender story that makes you believe in connections that go beyond names, voices, or even meetings.

The book follows Meera, a quiet soul who travels by bus every day. One day, she discovers a note left behind on her seat. What begins as curiosity soon turns into a heartfelt exchange between her and a stranger, Arjun. They never talk, never introduce themselves, but every note they leave for each other carries warmth, care, and an intimacy that feels stronger than spoken words.

As their bond grows deeper, Meera finds herself waiting for those small pieces of paper that light up her day. But just when it feels like something beautiful is taking shape, Arjun disappears, leaving behind only the echo of his last note. What was written on it changes everything for Meera, reminding her that sometimes love, even if brief, leaves an everlasting imprint.

This story is simple yet powerful. It speaks of love that blooms in silence, of emotions that don’t always need to be spoken, and of how even a short-lived connection can touch the heart forever.

The tale of "His Last Note" serves as a reminder of the beauty that can be discovered in quiet times, whispers, and the brittle memories that we cherish.

Meera is a calm individual who takes the bus every day. One day she comes across a message on her seat. What starts off as curiosity quickly develops into a sincere conversation between her and Arjun, a stranger. They started exchanging notes making it intriguing for the reader to dive deeper into the written notes and wonder about their slow progressing story.

Every note they write for one another conveys love, concern, and an intimacy that is deeper than words, even though they never speak or introduce themselves.

This book softly reminds us that stillness and simplicity add a certain dimension to life and that genuine connections don't always require words. The author here conveys the profoundness of silence in the middle of social media bustle, incessant overthinking, and half-hearted talks.

The writing of Rajala Harshitha is poetic and lyrical. Even after you put the book down, you may still feel the undercurrent of love, sorrow, and longing.

Overall, "His Last Note" is more than just a love story; it's an emotional journey that stays with you long after the last page.

"His Last Note" quietly pulled me into a world where silence speaks volumes. Meera and Arjun’s connection, formed solely through handwritten notes left on a bus seat, is unlike anything I’ve read before. The story’s prose feels intimate, almost like a whisper, making each exchange feel sacred. There’s no dramatic confrontation or loud declarations—just a slow, aching bond built on longing and shared silence.

What struck me most was how much emotion can exist in the absence of speech. Without ever hearing each other’s voice, Meera and Arjun form a rare, beautiful connection. Their love is undefined, unspoken, and yet deeply felt. When Arjun disappears, it left me feeling hollow—like I'd lost someone real. That quiet ache lingers even now.

This isn’t just a love story; it’s a meditation on presence, absence, and everything unsaid. It reminded me that the most meaningful connections aren’t always loud or obvious. The narrative stays with you long after the final note is read. For anyone who’s ever loved from afar or longed in silence, "His Last Note" will resonate deeply. A stunning story told with grace, restraint, and emotional clarity. I won’t forget it.

This book had me in tears. What a bittersweet story this was. His last note?? The title had me intrigued but I certainly did not expect that twist. I really enjoyed the book, the plot was refreshing because it was something new.

I saw myself in Meera, I could feel her longing, her pain. My girl really went through a lot. THAT IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. But she was strong, very strong. The strength she had was immeasurable.

Arjun was just complicated. Disappearing off like that? But then that is what life is about. It is unpredictable. Meera learnt a lot through his last note. She felt emotions like never before. That was love, longing and affection for someone she has never met before.

I have also been in that very spot. Invisible to everyone around me and then all of a sudden someone saw through me. But that lasted only for a moment, and my bubble was shattered. I was invisible again. This book made me feel seen, made me feel like I wasn't alone. Pick this book up with all your heart. You will love it.

In today’s fast-paced world, silence often gets drowned out by noise. His Last Note is a story that reminds us of the beauty found in whispers, in quiet moments, and in fragile memories we hold close to our hearts.

The book tells the story of Meera and Arjun two souls who don’t even know each other’s names, yet their hearts speak louder than words ever could. Their connection is not built on conversations but on something far deeper, something only silence can convey.

What struck me most is how the author captures the feeling of being truly seen and heard without ever raising a voice. This is not just a love story it’s a story for anyone who has ever longed for a bond that feels unspoken yet undeniable.

His Last Note is a tender reminder that love doesn’t always need words. Sometimes, the strongest emotions live in the quiet spaces between.

A love story written in silence, for everyone who has ever loved deeply, completely, and quietly.

“His Last Note” is one of those rare love stories that doesn’t need loud drama to touch your heart. Meera and Arjun never talk, never meet properly, and never even exchange names, but through small handwritten notes left on a bus seat, they build a bond that feels incredibly real.

The beauty of the book lies in its simplicity. Every note, every pause, every unspoken word feels meaningful. As the seasons change, you feel their emotions deepen, only to be hit by the sudden silence when Arjun disappears. It’s tender, heartbreaking, and unforgettable.

I would like to share a note from the book -
“Dear Stranger,
Maybe this is better.
Maybe not knowing your name keeps me curious.
And maybe, for once, curiosity doesn’t scare me.
- The Girl by the Window”

In a world full of noise and endless chatter, this story gently reminds us that sometimes the deepest connections don’t need words at all.

"His Last Note” by Rajala Harshitha is a beautifully written story about connection, silence, and the fragility of human relationships. The idea of two strangers, Meera and Arjun, communicating only through scribbled notes on a bus feels unusual, yet it’s portrayed with such tenderness that you can’t help but root for them.

What I loved most is how the author builds an emotional bond without a single spoken word. It’s subtle, heartfelt, and makes you reflect on how sometimes the deepest conversations don’t need voices. The story also reminds us how fleeting human connections can be, and how silence can sometimes hold more meaning than words.

Rajala Harshitha’s writing is lyrical and poetic. It carries an undercurrent of love, loss, and longing that stays with you even after you close the book. “His Last Note” is not just a romance, it’s an experience that lingers in your heart long after the last page.

Sometimes when I just need an outlet to let go of simmering anger of past incidents, rather than sharing about it, which gets hard for me, I deep dive into books, which don't judge me for being too 'sensitive' or being too much, and this became one such book I really felt I could use it at a moment when things were getting overwhelming especially in moments of hopelessness.

Yes, I am talking about feeling loneliness due to the core of introvertedness, where it becomes hard to feel seen or even just wanting to disappear for a bit. Well, this might feel like I am going dark, but actually these are the feelings Meera and Arjun, the protagonists experience, especially when stuck due to not meeting societal 'expectations' but just living by. Unexpectedly, they meet via letters on a bus, finding a true connection. The story follows their journey across.

The flow of the writing was really beautiful, that I just finished the book in one sitting. People might again feel Arjun is being too sensitive, but nope he is gone to a state of desolation, of no way out. That's why I tend to feel pity for those parents who just don't seem to get where their children are coming. Children need something intangible to keep going forward, instead of physical needs which are just temporary.

This was a beautiful book to read period.

I don't know how to put my views into words for this book, but after a long time, I came across a book that touched my heart and made me cry.

It's a story of silence, that was never spoken but noticed. A story that never had words but has the emotions to cry for. A silent exchange of messages on a piece of paper between two strangers in a window seat of a bus. The words were never exchanged verbally but the emotional connection was too strong to resist.

With a fresh plot, this book has all the elements a good book needs: emotions, unsaid love, heartbreak, a very unexpected end, and a very unusual beginning. I never thought that silence could speak so much. In fact, the silence spoke much more than verbal communication.

The way Meera searched for Arjun, the way they exchanged messages, the way Meera decoded all the hidden hints in the messages, there was nothing direct but still everything. Uffff, everything felt so perfect.

His Last Note is a quiet, haunting love story unfolding in silence. An unnamed relationship is created through the notes that pass between two strangers yearning for something: Meera and Arjun. The simplest yet the heaviest words are those that remain unsaid. Written in an almost contemplative prose, the story also tackles love, loss, and the silent agony borne of absence. The plot almost always somehow drips with emotion-accommodating like a rainfall tapping on a glass window, or chilling like the famished silence of an interrupted word: This story is the truth of how the most delicate of human echoes can be heard in perpetuity, and how the risk of that is the grave; but then again, always worth losing for the chance to say somewhere down that you at some point stepped out and laid your heart there. That is an emotional read and will linger in the consciousness of the reader for quite some time.

Reading this felt like watching raindrops slide down a window—quiet, steady, and full of emotion. The story of Meera and Arjun begins with simple notes left behind, yet those scraps of paper carry feelings too heavy to speak aloud. I was pulled into the hush of their connection, realizing how silence can sometimes reveal more than words ever could.

As their bond grew, I found myself waiting for each exchange, almost holding my breath. And then came Arjun’s absence—a silence so sharp that it left me unsettled long after I stopped reading. What touched me most was how the author shows love not as dramatic gestures, but as something fragile, hidden in pauses and in the courage to leave a piece of your heart behind.

I finished the novel in a single sitting because the writing flows like a gentle stream. The ending left me hollow yet thoughtful, especially in the way it hinted at the emotional struggles parents often overlook. That quiet truth is what lingers the longest.

✨ Book Review: His Last Note by Harshitha Rajala ✨

Never knew a book could break me so effortlessly—without even making me cry, yet leaving me hollow inside. 💔

When I first picked it up, I thought it would be a sweet romance. Instead, it gifted me the ache of unrequited love. A love that lingers with you, even when the lover is no longer by your side.

Meera—the girl by the window, who listens to every whisper bleeding through the pages.
Arjun—the stranger whose every note carried the weight of his pain and longing.

Their love wasn’t wrapped in words, but in silences that screamed. And as I turned the last page, the echo of their silence still rang in my heart.

One line from the book keeps haunting me:
✨ “I am sitting right beside you, hearing your silence.” ✨

This isn’t just a story of letters and missed moments—it’s a reminder that sometimes silence is the loudest sound of all.

A short read, yet one that will stay etched in me forever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The story centers on Meera, a young woman navigating the quiet routines of her daily bus commute, and Arjun, a mysterious stranger whose presence she senses but never fully encounters. Their connection begins innocently: a handwritten note left on her favorite window seat, sparking a silent exchange of thoughts, dreams, vulnerabilities, and unspoken affections. Without ever sharing names, faces, or voices, they build an intimate bond through these fragile scraps of paper—notes that evolve from casual observations about the rainy cityscapes outside to deeper confessions of loneliness and longing.

His Last Note is a delicate gem—poignant, unforgettable, and a gentle reminder that "the quietest connections leave the loudest echoes in our hearts. With its fresh take on love through silence, Harshitha delivers an emotional punch in a compact package.

There are stories that whisper to the heart, and then there are stories that etch themselves into your soul, "His Last Note" belongs to the latter. His Last Note is a unique love story where the pure melodies of love comes alive in the beauty of words and long bus journeys through two protagonists Meera and Arjun.

Their love, which form through regular exchange of notes from distant places as pen pals after accidentally one of rhem happens to find a random note in a bus corner, shows us the sheer power of words and the priceless value of writings in connecting two unknown souls together deeply with emotions that last forever deeply.

Besides the wonderful narration of love between them, the thrill factor brought out here as Meera uses the notes for searching and meeting her love Arjun adds a touch of mystery or suspense making the reading experience enchanting and exciting.

From the first note on the bus seat, I was hooked. "His Last Note" isn't your typical romance—it’s deeper, quieter, and more haunting. The relationship between Meera and Arjun unfolds in silence, their connection built through paper and ink. There’s a nostalgic beauty in their wordless bond, and the writing captures this with a slow, reflective rhythm that feels almost poetic.

What if the one person who truly understood you never even spoke to you? That question lingered with me throughout the book. Watching their story grow without names, voices, or meetings made each note feel sacred. The day Arjun disappeared, it felt like a heartbreak I’d lived myself. Meera’s grief—quiet and unspoken—cut deep.

The story doesn’t shout; it hums with gentle sorrow and hope. In a world where everything moves fast and loud, "His Last Note" asks us to pause and listen to the silence. It’s a beautiful, lingering tale of love, absence, and the things we never say aloud. I closed the book with tears in my eyes and a heart full of what-ifs. A quiet masterpiece.

His Last Note is a story that touches you in the quietest way possible. The bond between Meera and Arjun begins with simple notes left on a bus seat, yet those little scraps of paper carry a world of emotion. Their connection feels fragile, tender, and more real than many love stories told with words.

What I loved most is how the author shows the power of silence. Without names or voices, their relationship still feels deep and genuine. And when Arjun suddenly disappears, the sense of loss is almost personal—you feel Meera’s emptiness as if it were your own.

Rajala Harshitha’s writing is gentle, emotional, and beautifully honest. His Last Note isn’t a love story that shouts; it lingers softly in your heart, reminding you that sometimes silence speaks louder than anything we say.

One of the few books that forces you to pause, take a deep breath, and feel is His Last Note. The story of Meera and Arjun develops subtly through handwritten notes and quiet moments rather than through dialogue or grand romantic gestures. Its power lies in its simplicity.

You are drawn into their delicate world by the poetic and tender writing, which makes you feel every look, every pause, and every heartbeat. The heartbreak is devastating when Arjun vanishes, not because of what transpired but rather because of everything that was not said.

This is a meditation on love, absence, and the things we never say aloud; it's more than just a romance. It is a story that stays with you long after you've turned the last page. It is tender, poignant, and unforgettable.
