This book felt like just what I needed. The world of autism can feel messy, chaotic, and overwhelming as a parent. (As well as intensely beautiful, exciting, etc). I’m inspired and grateful for the tools in this book. I love that the last chapter of the book focuses on parental self-care.

This is a really easy fast read style book with plenty of guides, milestone markers and thinking points if your child does or doesn’t meet those prototypical milestones. I loved all the lists because it makes this journey easier to break down and compartmentalize different aspects of how your child is.

For instance, I am specifically focusing on the sensory seeking (which is chapter 7) because that is one of my biggest triggers right now…all the messes my 3 year old leaves behind because she seeks full body sensory stimulation. I got multiple lists, and ideas to try out. Things to discuss with a doctor. And support knowing I’m not the only dealing with these stresses.

The reoccurring voice of you can do it, or you aren’t alone, or even you got it girl, that many self help books carry wasn’t apart of this book at all. Instead it was more check out these suggestions and see what works for your child so both of you can find freedom from stressing over the unknown and lack of understanding.

I would definitely recommend this book!
