Trick Shot

Rate this book
My best friend has no idea… I just went top shelf into his little sister’s DMs.

Music’s up, morals are down, and the Miami Blazers’ annual costume bash is in full burn.

But the puck bunnies, the hook-ups, the post-game highs—none of it hits like it used to.

Until I spot her.

Black velvet mask. Sinful mouth. Not trying, just haunting.

I shoot my best shot, and she shuts me down.

This girl’s not going home with the cocky guy in a Ghostface mask.

But I scored her number—along with her rules.

No names. No faces. No meet-ups.

Just dirty sexting and late-night confessions that go from “just fun” to something deeper.

Because she gets me. Not the player, but the man I never let anyone else see.

And I fall hard for a woman who doesn’t want real.

Then fate puts her back in play—at her brother’s team party.

And the same girl who’s been living in my head for months… is my best friend’s little sister.

She doesn’t know who I am.

But I know her… her hopes, her secrets, and how to make her moan for me on the other end of the line.

And now that the masks are off, I’m done playing games.

She’s mine.

I just need her to fall for the guy behind the messages… before her brother wipes the ice with my face.

It’s a risky Trick Shot—I have to take.

Trick Shot is a steamy standalone, brother’s-best-friend, hidden-identity hockey romance. This is book one in the Miami Blazers series with a guaranteed HEA! When a cocky NHL playboy starts anonymously texting a mystery girl, he doesn’t realize he’s falling for his best friend’s little sister. Now, will breaking the rules lead to the ultimate penalty, or the trickiest shot at love?

I liked the plot of this book. I don’t think I’ve read one similar. There were times when I wanted to shake both of the main characters. Predictable ending but satisfying. I enjoy this authors writing style. Felt like I could imagine the scenes she was describing - particularly when they were at the beach house. Good smut

Not well written at all lol, literally found multiple typos in it and phrases repeated almost word for word a paragraph apart. However! Super fun premise and I did enjoy reading it what can I say

And… the chase is on! The story of Jace and Melody. Jace is an all star hockey player and Melody has come to stay with her brother who is Jaces best friend. Melody’s father is a Senator , and shes been put on display since puberty. He’s trotted her out and forced her to spend time with men… some 10 yrs older than her believing networking and a possible arranged marriage could bring him further fortune.

When there is a team Halloween party, Jace is thoroughly sick of the puck bunnies and the chronic fatigue that comes from his lifestyle. While the fawn all over him, theres a lone woman at the bar completely unaware of him and his teammates. Intrigued and both masked for the event, he spots Melody goes over and tries to strike up a conversation with her. She quickly puts him in his place and they banter back and forth something he thoroughly enjoys. Before leaving she writes her phone number on his arm and leaves him to wonder if its really her number. Later that evening, he texts her and a friendship/relationship begins.

They continue to text multiple times a day for over 10 months telling each other their hopes and dreams and spilling secrets theyve never told another. They meet again when Melody finally moves in with her brother but have no idea that they’ve been texting each other for months.

This was a good story. Great plot, solid lead characters and overall very enjoyable.

Jace went to the Halloween party , He wanted to stay away from women because he had enough but a costume caught his eye a black velvet bunny she was near a bar drinking whiskey, he approached her and went to make her company, he tells her to go home with him but she said no instead she wrote her number on his forearm , than she disappeared.
Melody moved with her brother, she was going to a welcome party to one of her brother’s teammate , after 10 months she still in contact with the ghost costume guy she met at the party, every time she texts him she felt flutter in her stomach .they didn’t know each other’s faces.
When she went downstairs she heard a guy entered to the front door, she went still because he was gorgeous .
Jace since met Bunny the girl he’s texting, ingnores all the women, but his friend brought his sister and can’t take her off his mind.
He proposed to his team coach they should go away at his beach house so can they know more about the knew goalie.
He knew Dominic couldn’t leave his sister alone , he tells to his teammates that his sister is off limits. He tells him to bring her with him.
Three days before they went for the week at his beach house,he remembers that Bunny the girl he was texting showed him a tattoo behind her ear.
An Amazing book that I loved reading

This is Jace and Melody's story.

Jace is a hockey player who also carves furniture. He's also best friends with Melody's brother.

Melody is the sister of a hockey player and a senator's daughter, and she dreams of owning her own flower shop.

Jace runs into Melody at a Halloween party, and she gives him her number but doesn’t tell him her name. They started messaging each other daily for months, but she still wouldn’t budge on sharing their names or any photos of themselves.
She moves to live with her brother, Jace's best friend and hockey captain, to escape their parents and start a flower shop. When they meet again, they don't recognize each other as the people they've been texting for months. Two obstacles stand in their way: Melody's brother has forbidden his teammates from dating her, and they have to come to terms with who they are to each other all this time.

My thoughts:
It was great to see Melody's brother stepping up to protect her from her parents' plans. I wasn’t a fan of how Jace dealt with everything once he realized who she was, but what he made for her was super sweet.

holy fantasy lived out through a book 😜

I have had a thing for ghost face for a long time. Any TikTok video with a man in abs and a scream mask makes my blood pressure spike. This book? Crossed all the ts and dotted all the I’s of my dirtiest fantasies. I wanted a best friends brothers romance and got so muchhhhh more 😍 if you want the mind blowing, page turning sweet romance? This book has it. If you want the mind blowing crazy spice that only a good “booktok” book has? This book also has it. Just read it! You won’t regret it

I love Vitina Roses writing and story style. Jace a Melody's story was so good. The banter in the first chapter had me grinning. I love that he flirts while's she use quick wit. It makes the interactions so fun. They way the meet and how the story unfolded had me dying to read more. I also had me curious about other players in the books so I hope we learn more about Dom and Zed. Look forward to more in The series. If you like this book definitely read her LA Panthers series those guys stole my heart.

My Review: This was such a good read! The pacing was good, the plot was basic but perfect for the whole brothers best friend trope. The spice was doing its thaaang! The FMC was a little annoying with how naive she was with all the signals MMC gave but alas, still such a good read that left me wanting to keep reading!

Tropes: Sports (hockey) Romance, Brothers Bestfriend, forbidden love, secret identity, sorta enemies to lovers?
Triggers: mentions of cheating, explicit sexual content

Good

This was a good book. My issues, why was it really a big deal that he was "Ghost?" She wanted it to be! Why stay away just so her brother could have time? I get letting him cool off, but why does that mean they can't see each other? Their parents were terrible people, so why use it as a threat? Then, the end? Really corny. However, it is a decent book, just needed something different at the end. Would still recommend, but the end isn't the best. On to the next!

I absolutely looked this book. I did not want to put it down. The storyline was amazing. Jace and Melody were hot and spicy. The mixture of tropes really made this book amazing. The tension between these two was insane. This book had a little bit of everything. Another 5 star read from Vitina Rose. Well done. I highly recommend!

This was a story of two vulnerable people being seen for who they are behind the daily facade. I was hooked from their first masked encounter. The banter between Ghost and Bunny fueled the tension build. I did feel like the long stretch and angst before the reveal could have been shortened but that is a me thing. New author for me and I will look forward to reading more.

Hockey stories are so good and Jace and Melody’s story definitely keeps it going. This is another story that included text chats and I enjoy those. They bring more light and fun to the story. This was such a great read you won’t want to put it down.

This was actually really fun and different! I enjoyed reading it, and I thought the set up for the romance was very unique, which was well, fun! I also really enjoyed the moment where the brother finds out because well, the couple fight back, which was nice to read!!! It got a little tedious in the middle, so it could've been shorter a little bit, but well, overall, I liked the book!

Her Ghost
Masks hid their identity but not their attraction and desire. They’ve been sexting for months which adds jet fuel to the fire. Ghost and Bunny! What happens when someone real comes into play for both of them? What happens if it’s them?! Pure bliss!!

Loved it

Loved this so much. Brothers best friend is done so much. I love that this wasn’t typical for that trope. While some aspects were predictable overall it was a great story and not the typical plot.

I have to say, I do love the hockey romance genre. Ice hockey is not a national sport in the UK but maybe it should be.

A slightly different take on the brother's best friend trope, not sure it was quite my thing, but it was a good story.

Weird formatting

The thing I disliked the most was the formatting. Too many spaces. Overall a good story, with plenty of spice.

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Trick Shot by Vitina Rose is the perfect blend of swoon-worthy romance and sizzling chemistry. Jase and Melody’s story had me hooked from the very first masked encounter to the moment the truth came out. Their anonymous late-night confessions were equal parts playful, vulnerable, and scorching hot—showing how love can sneak up on you when you least expect it.

The brother’s-best-friend twist adds just the right amount of tension, and the hidden identity element keeps the pages turning. This isn’t just a hockey romance—it’s a story about finding someone who sees you beyond the surface and is willing to fight for you, no matter the risk.

A sexy, heartfelt, can’t-put-down kind of read that left me smiling long after the last page.

I was thoroughly enjoying this. The beginning was fun and different. Then it took a random turn into kink-ville. Why our FMC needed to be a virgin is beyond me. But no worries, as soon as she sheds that label she realizes she loves to be chased and hide under beds. What!?
For two people that supposedly had this big connection, the sex had no emotion. Just hooking up.

We Never saw any softness or care from Jace. Why would he be so wonderful as Ghost and then no show any of that side in person? He was all upset that she loved Ghost but wouldn’t look at him that way but he never acted that way. He played the part of the carefree playboy perfectly.
