In June 2020, Lucy Claire Ellard was born with a diagnosis of Trisomy 21- what is more commonly referred to as Down syndrome.
This book is a love story. As with any great love story, it is a patchwork quilt of heartache, joy, and growth. The characters are flawed, but they work hard. There are thrilling wins, and devastating losses.
These pages hold the love story between mother and daughter- a story born in a hospital nursery to the melody of a squeaking rocking chair and the hum of life-sustaining machines.
If you’re not sure what your love story looks like yet- if you’re struggling with grieving a diagnosis or accepting a life that looks different than you thought it would, this book is for you. On the contrary- if you’re in a season of celebration and joy; you belong.
The journey is easier if you know you’re not walking alone.
Twenty-one.
Twenty-One lessons learned from a little girl with an extra copy of her twenty-first chromosome.
