Well, goodness me,this book packs a punch and a very dark one at that

Julia is married to Shane ( a whirlwind romance after her first hubbys death, they had 2 daughters ) all 3 live together but Julia wants out,Shane is a monster to her, subtlety and determinedly he is causing her downfall and making her life unbearable

She has a plan….

But the house is full, choca full of secrets, all of them skating around trying to avoid each other and the truth

And then there is a a terrible event that shocks those that are left….but does it? What it does do is bring the hate and the tension and the evil to the fore and none of them will be the same again

Always enjoy the authors books but would probably say this is the most intense, nerve wracking, brilliantly executed and surprising of them all

You have been warned….

Now that was a twisted psychological thriller, and I loved it!
Julia seems to have it all - a beautiful home, her own company, two lovely daughters and a good looking husband, but….we soon learn that she’s trying desperately to get away from Shane, and needs her sister’s help to do so.
Molly is the oldest daughter and is hiding a huge secret from her Mum, and it’s interesting to see her thoughts and behaviour change as events take place.
I’m being really careful not to give any spoilers as you need to discover all the dark twists and turns for yourselves, and I promise you will love this book!
This is a brilliant psychological thriller and one of my favourite books from Patricia Dixon. Thank you for sending me an advanced copy to read.

She did a bad thing..
Buried secrets come clawing to the surface in this chilling psychological thriller.
When Julia Lassiter thinks she has the perfect life.
This book has everything with a shocking portrait of lies that are told to protect the ones we love.
Dangerous and deadly it's a unputdownable story.
Some secrets too dangerous to tell, other's are to deadly to keep.
The closer you look at Julia and her family the more twisted it becomes.
To see another side of a perfect second husband and stepfather.
I was totally engrossed, he's manipulative, abusive and controlling.
Full of betrayal and deceit that damaging to the core.
Julia leaves behind a vital ingredient, she has been the mother who has made the heart of the family home unbeatable for her children.
Leaving behind almighty secrets and twists that jump out of the pages.
Shocking but powerful and disturbing so addictive.
You can't help but love this book.

An absolutely sensational read! This dark psychological thriller grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go.
The narrative gradually builds the suspense, slowly ratcheting up the tension as a family's dark secrets are exposed.
Betrayal is a central theme, and the devastating consequences of one person's actions ripple through every character's life.
The constant twists and turns will keep you guessing until the explosive, mind blowing ending. This book is not for the faint-hearted and is an unputdownable, one-sitting read that will stay with you for quite some time.
I received an advance copy and this is my honest opinion.

This was a really dark novel that was a real page turner. I read the whole book in just a couple of sittings!
It's hard to mention much about the plot without giving too much away, but Molly as the lead character is due to go away to university in America when her mother is found dead at home.
The following weeks lead to lots of secrets being revealed, and ends in quite a shocking twist.
As I said, it's a real page turner but is quite dark in places.
I'd recommend though maybe not if you are sensitive.
Thanks to Bloodhound books for sending me an advanced copy to read and review.

This is the best book I have ever read published by Bloodhound, it absolutely blew me away.
The story that Patricia Dixon told will stay with me forever
I loved every single twist & turn and every single character played their own fantastic performance.
This book truly deserves more than top marks and am now worried that anything else I read this year will fall far short of the fun that I have had reading The Good Girl.

Julia and her two daughters have recovered from losing the husband and Father they adored. They’ve picked themselves up, eventually got a new husband and stepfather who seems absolutely perfect. Their business is thriving, Molly is off to University at Princeton so what could possibly go wrong?
Patricia Dixon has done it again, this book is so good. She always tells the stories of real life in such a great way.

Oooh there are some snaky characters in this book! Dixon delivers some seriously flawed personalities that had me suspicious of motives and outcomes right until the end of the story.

From the beginning it is clear that the Lassiter household is not a happy one, especially when we discover what exactly Molly is getting up to. With a marriage in tatters, Julia is determined to break free from Shane once and for all; secretly preparing for a divorce, she is ready to move on at last. However, it would appear that Shane is a man with a hidden agenda and is going to use anything to his advantage, including trying to keep his lavish lifestyle intact.

As the story unfolds, Shane’s behaviour becomes more disturbing – it is obvious why Julia is reaching breaking point. When I didn’t think the story could surprise me any further, the mid-way point has Dixon delivering unexpected plot twist, seeing a police investigation become involved in the Lassiter family. The tension in the story increases dramatically and I was not prepared for how dark Dixon takes the story – it certainly is very punchy!

I enjoyed how the title became synonymous to so many characters as the “goodness” could be interpreted in various ways. Morally speaking, I don’t think any of the women are a ‘good girl’, especially when considering the closing lines of the book. Yet, the women are also innocent victims and I wanted to see the perpetrator punished for their behaviour once and for all. And to do this, you really can’t be a ‘good girl’.

A family that seems to have it all is not the reality and in this book, Dixon delves into deep, dark desires. It was an absorbing read (albeit slightly uncomfortable in places) and I liked how Dixon manipulates the reader throughout. The Lassiter women are stuck in a tangled web and I was fascinated to see how much secrecy there was: everyone presents a façade that is so far from the truth.

With thanks to Bloodhound books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well what a read this was!!

Julia Lassiter is married to Shane, who is very charismatic and popular among their social circles. Julia in the meantime is busy juggling a demanding job managing the business she co-founded with her first husband, and her two daughters, Molly and Dee, from her earlier marriage. Molly is eagerly counting down the days to university, while Dee is anxious about the state of their family. But there are secrets bubbling beneath the surface and when Shane’s lies begin to unravel, the family is thrown into a spiralling psychological thriller filled with unforeseen twists.

Patricia Dixon, the author, excels at building vivid characters, each with their own distinct traits and histories. Her meticulous descriptions make the setting come alive, immersing the reader in the lives of Julia, Shane, Molly and Dee. Her writing style is fluid and accessible, making this a fast-paced read that is difficult to put down. The emotional complexities of the characters are handled with subtlety, while the underlying tension keeps the pages turning. Overall, this is a gripping novel that skilfully combines family dynamics with the suspense of a psychological thriller, ensuring readers are hooked until the very last page.

The Good Girl is a masterclass in suspenseful storytelling, expertly blending family drama with elements of psychological intrigue. The plot unfolds with clever twists and turns, never allowing the reader to settle into predictably. The author’s attention to detail in both character development and setting makes it easy to immerse oneself in the narrative. The story is engaging from start to finish, with secrets lurking beneath the surface that are revealed in truly unexpected ways.

I really enjoyed reading this book and didn’t want to put it down. It certainly kept me guessing right to the end. I loved it! 😊

Without any doubt this is a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

OH MY GIDDY AUNT!
Hold onto your hats everyone, as you are in for one of the most shocking and nerve-wracking books of the year.

Shocking secrets, betrayal, manipulation, and one of the most intense storyline plots that I've read in a very long time.

Julie Lawson and her two daughters eighteen year old Molly and fifteen year old Dee,are still suffering from the loss of Ronald, Julie's husband and father of the two girls, but when a much younger and charming Shane who works for Julie's company starts pursuing Julie and winning the girls around by being the perfect step-dad the whirlwind romance soon sees Julie and Shane married.
Much to the dismay of Julie's twin sister Nancy who doesn't trust Shane's far as she could throw him.
Nancy's predicted proves to be correct and when Julie asks her lawyer sister's help to divorce Shane without losing every that her and Ronald had built up, Nancy immediately agrees, but Julie wants to wait until Molly goes of to college in America.

Molly has a deep dark secret that is tearing her apart but it can never be revealed and is counting down the days to leave.

Dee is distraught for her family, especially with her Mum and Shane fighting constantly and that they now sleep in separate rooms, so when Dee noticed an email from Nancy to her Mum talking about divorce she immediately seeks out Shane and tells him to fix the family.
Little did she know that this would have deadly coincidences.

So many plot twists, shocking revelations and one of the most disturbing but brilliantly written books I've had the pleasure to read, congratulations Mrs. D!

Patricia has truly outdone herself with this latest release, delivering an amazing and totally gripping book that kept me hooked from start to finish. As always, I made sure to clear my schedule before diving into one of her books, and this time was no exception. The story is packed with secrets, manipulation, and plenty of "oh my gosh" moments that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
The plot revolves around Julia Lassiter, a successful businesswoman who has run the business after her husband's death, raising two daughters on her own until meeting Shane. Julia's life takes a complicated turn when she marries Shane, who initially seemed perfect but soon reveals his true colours. Their marriage deteriorates, with them sleeping in separate rooms and Shane taking liberties at the office. Shane holds a secret that he believes will prevent Julia from ever kicking him out, giving him a manipulative hold over her.
Adding to the intrigue, Molly, Julia's oldest daughter, harbours a secret of her own. Just as she is about to leave for Princeton, there is an accident at home which changes everything, altering the course of her life forever.
Dee is the younger daughter who is very quiet and fades into the background and Magada the housekeeper who has been with the family since Molly was a baby all play their part in what happens and they all have secrets that they maybe should at told.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and twists that you won't see coming. Patricia's storytelling is masterful, and she has crafted a narrative that is both compelling and heart-wrenching. I can't recommend this book highly enough – if I could, I would give it 10 stars!

Julia Lassiter has it all, well almost. She is the head of a very successful company and has the trappings to prove it. A few years ago her husband sadly passed away and a couple of years afterwards she started seeing Shane. Things haven't been great between them and Julia wants out. Her sister, a lawyer in Canada, is helping her put things in order. Her daughter Molly has a secret, one that if brought to light would destroy the family. When things take a turn for the worse, the family secrets begin to come to light.
Oh wow! This is such a beautifully written book as with all of Patricia’s work, one that gives you a false sense of security to begin with….. And then the drama ramps up. “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive” Sir Walter Scott’s words were echoing in my ears as I read this. Few can carry off deception well, and those that think they can are heading for a fall in more ways than one. A breath-taking premise partly based on a true story (explained in the acknowledgements). A truly brilliant, memorable read from an exceptionally talented, stunningly gifted author. A huge 5*

Wow! The one word I could easily use to describe this book. This is a book I couldn’t put down as it has you gripped from the very first page.
I have loved all of Patricia's books, but this one has surpassed all expectations, and the story will stay with me for a long time.
Without giving too much away, you have a family that seems to have it all, a stunning house, more money than they could ever want and a very successful business that has provided all this, all spearheaded by Julia Lassiter. But what you see can be deceiving, is it the perfect family?
Julia has two beautiful daughters, but her real problem is her second husband Shane, so she wants to divorce him and with the help of her sister Nancy, a Lawyer in Canada, she sets things in motion, but there is also a huge secret which must come out.
Then we have Molly, her eldest daughter who has her own secrets which could devastate the family if they came to light.
This book has so many twists, you think you know what is coming, but you never do. The twists keep on coming right to the last sentence! One everyone should read.

Meet the family: Julia Lassiter, her two daughters, Molly and Dee, and Julia’s second husband, Shane. Julia married Shane following the death of her first husband.

Molly is now eighteen-years-old, and planning on going to Princeton University. Dee is sixteen, and has her exams coming up.

Julia’s twin sister, Nancy, has not been in their lives much, not since Julia married Shane. Shane is a master at manipulation, and Nancy can see through him.

This is a family that is packed full of secrets, not family secrets, but big secrets from each other. Secrets that, if revealed, will tear each other apart.

This story is amazing, talk about the wow factor! The author weaved a superb story that sucked me in completely. I couldn’t put this book down, I had to know all the secrets.

The descriptive writing at certain times filled me with emotion, I certainly had to wipe the odd tear away. The tension in the family home was dark and palpable.

A story where you think you’ve read all of the twists, to end up gobsmacked when the author manages to sneak in even more, and they all work perfectly.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

The Good Girl by Patricia Dixon is the story of the Lassiter family, mother Julia and two daughters Molly and Dee and the stepfather, Shane. Julia has spent years cultivating the perfect life, the perfect marriage, successful business, perfect home and thriving talented children. Molly who is 18 will be moving to America to go to Princeton.
Beneath the facade though both mother and daughter have dark secrets, that will destroy the family if ever known. The marriage to Shane is a bitter domestic battle, with both girls stuck in the middle. Julia is estranged from her sister because of Shane.
Molly though has a secret that if everyone found out would destroy her mother, what she does know is the secret is only part of the relationship with her stepfather and when she knows the truth could destroy Molly.
Everything comes to a head on the day before the party to send Molly off to America, and when her mother is in America with Molly changes will occur that will see the end of the marriage and Shane as a member of the family for ever.
However there is a series of events which will change the Lassiter family’s future for ever.

This book started off seeming a bit like a standard family drama but oh no it soon started getting dark and then even darker! Following the death of her much loved husband wealthy Julia Lassiter was vulnerable and met and married Shane in a bit of a whirlwind. Julia is a twin but was estranged from her sister following her second marriage.

Briefly, over the years Julia began to realise her mistake but by now both of her daughters 18 year old Molly and her younger sister Dee have both fallen under his spell. However, Molly is due to go to Princeton to study and Julia is making plans…

This is a book full of flawed characters. Shane is the most despicable human, and I use that word loosely, and I personally think he gets off lightly. The plot is really good, quite unexpected and quite shocking and could possible be distressing to some but I can’t be specific to avoid spoilers. Just let me say that whatever you think it going to happens you are 99.9% going to be wrong. A dark, tense family drama full of secrets, betrayal and deception; this is a brilliant psychological drama.

Patricia Dixon, as always, you held me in the palm of your hand from beginning to end. I literally could not put this book down. It came everywhere with me, and I do mean everywhere.

This story breaks all the rules. It doesn’t follow any predictable path, instead creating its own rhythm. It weaves in and out like a slippery snake, leaving a trail of poison in its wake.

Mrs Dixon boldly explores the darker side of love. Her writing stunned me time and time again with its twisted morality. Molly is the one character who climbed inside my head and refused to leave. She is still there now. I adore her, but by the end I was trembling with fear at just how far she was willing to go to protect herself.

This is an EPIC, dark, gripping and twisted psychological thriller about a family in turmoil. Every single page has been perfectly executed. The author expertly shifts between emotions, making love and hate feel inseparably intertwined.

Five Big Beautiful Golden Stars from me. If I could, I would award it far, far more!

This is definitely a book that you can’t put down. The characters are skilfully drawn and very believable. Molly is clearly a victim, though she doesn’t understand this, and loathes herself. Dee, on the other hand, is still a child, who desperately needs a stable background. Their mother, Julia, is trapped in an unhappy marriage with the charming, but deceitful Shane. Her twin sister, Nancy, warned her from the start about allowing Shane into her life. But Julia didn’t listen. Now she wishes she had. Her two daughters both adore Shane, but in different ways and for different reasons. Neither have any idea of their stepfather’s duplicity. Events unfold rapidly and tragically, leaving Molly confused and betrayed. A very well written and disturbing novel, that had be routing for Molly, and hoping she can reinvent herself as a “good girl”.

What a wonderfully creative story! This is definitely not one you will figure out beforehand!

Patricia is married to Shane. She has two daughters, Molly and Dee, from a previous marriage. Shane is a charismatic man, boisterous and popular. Patricia works hard at the business she and her previous husband created. She works hard and is very successful. Molly is a teen counting down the days until she leaves for Princeton University. Dee is troubled and concerned about the stability of her family. When Shane’s lies are revealed, the fallout from his actions spin into a wonderful psychological thriller that will keep you guessing.

Ms. Dixon has done an amazing job creating the characters. Each has his/her own descriptive traits and backgrounds. The setting is very detailed and easy to picture. This is an easy to read, fast-paced novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I devoured this book. The author has returned to form with a dark, gripping psychological thriller that keeps you hooked from the first page to the last.

At the center is a wife who appears to have the perfect life—two beautiful daughters, a stunning home, and everything seemingly in place. But beneath the surface, nothing is as it seems. Her husband is a serial philanderer, and each member of the family is hiding massive secrets that slowly unravel in the most chilling ways.

Twisty, tense, and impossible to put down, this is the kind of thriller that keeps you second-guessing everyone and everything. If you love stories that peel back the layers of a seemingly perfect life to reveal something far more ugly this one absolutely delivers.

Having read most Patricia Dixon’s back catalogue, I can, hand on heart say that this is her best work. The plot is twisted and clever, the characterisation spot on: Shane made my skin crawl, Harley made my heart break, and the tension is palpable – it’s safe to say I was hooked from page one.

This author has a wonderful gift for creating an atmosphere you can almost feel – from Julia’s private suite to the lush garden and the opulent hotel rooms it was easy to build a picture in my mind. I thought the ending was perfect, managing to leave the ‘ultimate ending’ to the readers imagination. All in all, this is a memorable and shocking read, which is disturbing in places - I couldn’t put it down! Very highly recommended.

There are so many secrets hidden within the Lassiter family; a family who, on the face of it, has everything.
But as the layers of this seemingly respectable family are peeled back, those secrets are about to come tumbling out. This family unit will never be the same again but for one particular member of the family the consequences will be devastating and the ultimate secret, one that will be impossible to escape from ever!
A tale of lies, deceit and abusive and controlling behaviour.
A family psychological thriller that I just couldn’t put down. I read it in a day and I’m still reeling from the final sting in the tail. Wow!
Thank you Patricia Dixon for yet another gripping read. Thanks also to Bloodhound Books for an advanced reading copy in return for an honest review.

I have read many of this authors books and this one stands out as one of her best, which is no mean feat! A quite outstanding read with many twists. My first Wow was when Moody Molly returns home with step father Shane, having seen her Mother and sister leave for a visit to France. As the front door slams shut I let out an audible gasp which was the first of many throughout this book. Just when you think you have sussed everything out along comes another major twist in the storyline.
This is a psychological thriller of the very highest standard and one that I would highly recommend. One of the easiest 5 stars I will ever give.

A tense, menacing read with shocks and twists that left me reeling. The plot evolves around the Lassiter family, widowed mother Julia, daughters Molly and Dee, plus 2nd husband and stepfather Shane. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down, but that's the norm with books by this author. I loved the psychological thriller vibes. Lies, betrayals, and a gamut of emotions are aplenty in this gripping read. I'm not going to say much about the plot as you will discover words and actions draws you deeper and deeper into the book, and as the saying goes , actions have consequences!
I love it when you come over to the dark side Patricia Dixon.

What a fantastic book, I really enjjoyed this book.

Fast paced, action packed like a roller coaster ride, so much going on, will not go into details for those who have not read the book. This was a book I wanted to finish to find out what happened at the end, and the twist was so unexpected. I got drawn into the book, the storyline and the characters and I did not want to put it down once I started it. Fabulous read!!!!

I loved this book, best book I have read in ages.

Patricia Dixon is an author who knows how to literally keep a reader glued to a book! I have read the majority of her books, and she never fails to impress me.
The Good Girl is an expertly plotted psychological thriller. The storyline ticks every box for me. I was in the palm of her hand as I read. I expected one thing and, boom! The twists took it another way altogether. It is a story with so many layers, I almost felt like it was onion peeling time! In a good way, of course!
Yet again, another superb book from an author who never gets old!

Spoiler alert
This was dark. Really dark. With pages of incest through marriage in it. If you read the book, you would understand what the term meant.
What I liked
The darkness
The twists
The sudden glimpse of evil
The fast pace.

What I disliked
After a while the incest part of it started eating into my book enjoyment. For a woman to do that to her family kinda shook me up. not in a nice way.

Overall
This is an author whose books I would like to delve into more.
