In the fall of 1821, my Great- Great-Great Grandfather was at the helm of a sailing merchant ship bound for Trinidad, Cuba. Captain Barnabas Lincoln, his crew, his ship, and his cargo were seized by violent pirates just off the coast of southern Cuba. They were left for dead on a tiny island with no means to support life. He lived to tell the story only because one of the pirates, through heroic and unlikely means, rescued him and his crew. Barnabas Lincoln wrote about that experience in a 40 page chronicle published in 1822. After reading that account, I felt that his story deserved a serious update. I decided to write an amplified version of his true experience which broadens the limited scope of the original. If you like history, pirate stories, survival, and redemption, you should check out Barnabas - A Unique Pirate Tale.
Highly interesting historical fiction about piracy in the mid-1800s with excerpts from ship Captain's diary weaved throughout the novel, offering a first-hand look into the passage of cargo during such times.
