One thing I love about this author’s writing style is that she writes situations or characters that are either fully relatable or somewhat relatable. Yes, reading is fiction and everything about it is fiction, but the way she writes — there’s always something in it that makes you feel it. You catch yourself thinking, “Wow, I can relate to this,” or “I feel this in some way.”
Yes, it’s a paranormal romance story, but there are key points in this where you can’t help but think, Wow, that’s so relatable.
Nic is someone who pulls you in, character-wise. Things move very quickly in this story — you get a lot of info within the first few chapters. He’s very kind, loving, and overprotective in that “don’t touch her” kind of way.
As always it’s super fast-paced. There’s some pups in this story who’s actually really cute! If I loved them, you guys will too, lol. The FMC — you’ll feel for her instantly. The journey she goes through is very emotional and impactful to the point where you’ll ask yourself, “How is this happening?” and “Why is this happening?” Yes, you do get answers, but along the way, you start to feel very protective of her. She’s one of the strongest characters I’ve read from this author. Even if it takes some time to show, this FMC is a bada$$ — she’s strong in so many ways once she finds her footing.
The message I got from this: even in the hard times, even in the darkest of times, there’s always some type of light that’s going to find you. Light always overtakes darkness no matter what. Light is found within darkness, which opens up other doors for opportunity.
Overall, it’s a great story with a strong message behind it. I highly recommend it to all readers who are into dark/paranormal romance.
I don’t like to give too much away in reviews, especially on Amazon, but I really enjoyed reading this from Melissa. I truly didn’t want to put it down and I only did to because I had to have emergency surgery! I was honestly taken from the first few pages, as she has such an interesting writing style. This is my first book from her that I’m reading and I can tell it won’t be the last. I really resonated with the story. Vulnerability and human emotions are scary, sometimes scarier than our nightmares…but worth it? Absolutely.
✨ My Thoughts: A forgotten god finding love when he least expects it? Uhm.. yes, please! I was not ready for the emotions, the chaos, or the way I wanted to consume this in one sitting, but couldn’t. Life🙄😂 Also, for those that need to know asap lol the spice is spicing, when it happens 🤭🤤🥵🥵🫠 btw, I rated it only 2.5 🌶️ because personally, I needed more! 🫣😂 but when it’s hot, IT’S HOT!
💞 Characters: Ikelos - Powerful, broken, and beautifully lost but he was still able to show love and affection wholeheartedly. Think.. golden retriever with dark “touch her and die” yumminess! Can I pull this god out of the book and keep him, pleaasseeee?! 🤭
McKenna - strong yet broken, broken yet strong - my “reader” mind wanted a quick trauma recovery for her but my IRL experiences had me thinking “you know better”. I understood her yet I felt I needed something more from her. But don’t get me wrong, I love relatable characters more than anything. And she was someone I could definitely relate to and she went after what she wanted 😉😉
🖋️ Writing & Vibe: The writing was emotional yet easy to devour with cute and funny banter (I needed more banter tho!) It gave me all the feels and left me wanting more. Although I understand why Carter was not so physically present throughout the story, I wish we would have gotten more of him f*ck!ng $h!t up (excuse my language lol) I needed a bit more drama when it came to his character even though I hated him so much! 😂 But I truly enjoyed how things played out. Unexpected with “I knew it!” vibes! (In a good way!)
💔 Ending: The author brought the story together beautifully. Allowing us to see the character & emotional growth within both the MMC & FMC. From broken & lost to seen, strong & fearless! Left me wanting so much more of Ikelos & McKenna’s story!
💬 Final Thoughts: If you love: 🖤He falls first 🖤Touch her and ☠️ 🖤Virgin MMC 🖤Tattooed MMC 🖤Po$$es$śive MMC 🖤Supernatural elements — this one’s 100% for you.
Another banger of a book from Melissa Silva. I swear, every book she writes just gets better. Let's get into what you can expect. Gut-wrenching emotions and cute kitty cats aside, the FMC is a survivor, and the MMC feels like a rejected god. Buckle up for a roller coaster as the MMC learns about love and other emotions, and our FMC learns how to love and trust again.
Things I liked: Hellhounds/shadowhounds, touch her and die, funny and tender moments, great characters, story pacing, world building
Melissa Silva has a way of writing that just draws me right in! Her characters are so relatable and lovable! Nightmare is no different! I love Nic! Who doesn’t want a respectable King?? His vulnerability is so endearing and I love his shadow pups! The whole story I was trying to guess what would happen next but never could tell and I loved that! Highly recommend Nightmare as your next paranormal God romance read!
This book was everything I was expecting it to be. When the fractured soul of a Forgotten God falls for the broken soul of a mortal human... you give it 5 stars! The story line, the plot twist, and the characters were all phenomenal. Ikelos.... perfect balance of a god of nightmare with a golden retriever side...with tattoos 🔥🔥 The spicy bits were yummy!! I can't wait for the upcoming books in The Forgotten God's series.
This was such a great book! Nic and Mckenna seem so different at first, but they definitely bond very quickly. I love Nic’s protectiveness. And who doesn’t love a couple of demon puppies! If you’re looking for an MMC with shadows, darkness, and is a god who feeds on fear, then Nic is the man for you!
A fast-paced, addictive read that you definitely need to give a try!
Nightmare by Melissa Silva is a gripping and intense read that kept me hooked for most of the story. The characters are complex and the tension is palpable, making the romance and drama feel very real. While I loved the emotional depth and suspense, a few plot points felt slightly rushed, which kept me from giving it a full five stars. Still, it’s a highly engaging book that fans of dark, passionate romance will definitely enjoy
