Some memories aren't just dangerous… they can kill.
Kenzi Brannon wakes in a psychiatric ward, her mind fractured between reality and hypnotic commands she can't escape. Haunting visions of underground chambers stalk her every thought, and one terrifying question What if she made me hurt someone?
While Kenzi fights to reclaim her identity, Billa uncovers chilling fragments of her own stolen past. Childhood drawings. Forgotten journals. A one-eyed teddy bear. Each clue points to a horrifying she wasn't just a bystander. She was a victim too.
As Billa and Ember dig into the Radley Institution's buried secrets, the conspiracy grows more dangerous. Other survivors surface—some allies, others unknowingly programmed to silence anyone who gets too close. And in the deepest chambers of the abandoned facility, Billa uncovers a betrayal closer than she ever imagined. It could destroy everything she thought she knew about her family.
The Brannons must decide how far they're willing to go for the truth… because some echoes refuse to stay buried. Can they break free from the past before it consumes them completely?
Lost Echoes is perfect for readers who love psychological thrillers with dark family secrets, relentless suspense, and characters who must claw their way back from trauma to find the truth.
Stacy Claflin writes about complex women overcoming incredible odds. Whether it's her Gone trilogy of psychological thrillers, her ongoing Transformed paranormal saga, or her Seaside Hunters sweet romance series, Stacy's three-dimensional heroines shine through.
Decades after she wrote her first stories on construction paper and years after typing on an inherited green screen computer that weighed half a ton, Stacy realized her dream of becoming a full-time author.
When she's not busy writing or educating her kids from home, Stacy enjoys watching TV shows like Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.
3.5-4.0🌟 stars This story in the series breaks away from the mysteries of spooky Brannon House itself and focuses on poor Kenzi, fighting to dredge up and break free from her childhood trauma when she was institutionalized by her parents. It's suspenseful and had me suspicious of just about everyone outside of the Brannon family, including Ember's PE teacher boyfriend who's such a whiz with the tech stuff. The further along, the more childhood victims surface, all caught up in the same nefarious evil associated with Dr. Radley and his "research" that Kenzi endured. The climax is loaded with frenzied action and Kenzi, Ember, Luke and Billa are all key players.
The suspense was kept pretty taut by the story constantly alternating between Kenzi, Ember and Billa. All three approaching the mystery from different angles, each with an ally or two. I liked that, though the tech stuff Ember and Luke were working on was a bit TMI for me, probably more comprehensible and interesting to a younger cohort of readers who live immersed in technology.
I felt that there were some plot holes that arose near the end and I just could not fathom the why's of Dr. Radley's program and exploitation of his subjects. The why and how remained sticking points for me, and why Kenzi's parents became enmeshed.
So, high marks for unpredictability, creepy revelations and suspense. But I did not enjoy it as much as the earlier books in the series. The creepy playacting angle, the absence of explanation for why some victims were targeted and what happened to them after "the show" and the whole spindle thing, especially in the end with Phoenix's appearance, just did not add up for me.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Hidden in Plain Sight Is it better to read the series? Yes, in my opinion, but the author does share some background for Kenzie, Graham, Ember, Billa, Luke, Ryker and gives updates on new(er) characters. We learned a lot of answers and yes, a few more questions along the way (Billa's mom) WOW I had some reservations on both Dr Hansen and Florencia - although some things were shared about them, you didn't know the truth until the end when things came together. Kind of like Phoenix. The title is SO fitting and makes sense when reading the story. I wondered if this book should've been in 2 parts with all we read and learned in it, but maybe it's just me not wanting to lose touch with these characters we've grown close to, even if they're not real. Maybe in Stacy's "spare" time there will be follow up with family - maybe Ember and Luke open up their own PI or undercover agency. hmmmmm
I found this book to be very interesting even though I had not read a previous book in this series. I felt a disadvantage at times, but the author did provide enough background information to follow the storyline. Kenzi and Billa are fighting through childhood memories of dark times they spent at the Radley Institute. As Ember and Luke help to find answers, danger exists for all of them. In particular, trigger words throw Kenzie into dark despair. Will she ever have a breakthrough to fight the words that drag her down? Billa finds pieces of her past discarded in otherwise empty rooms and is heartbroken to learn that someone close to her may have been involved in her horror. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author without remuneration and this review is my own opinion.
OMG this had me in bits! From the start of this series the author has drawn us in first with Kenzi and then one by one the others in her family. They have unearthed secrets and lies from the past, betrayals from the parents and discovered some horrific things that have gone bump in the night. Secrets passages, underground chambers and unknown family members but this last book brings it all together, gives us answers we have been waiting for and an ending that takes your breath away and has you hanging onto the edge of your seat. It’s frightening, it’s unthinkable and it’s disbelieving to think this went on but this fast paced, psychological thriller shows us what is hiding in the dark and what needs to be done to shine a light and bring it crumbling to its knees.
Each book in this series is better than the previous one. While this one takes place mostly at the mental institution where Billa and Kenzi spent time as children, we get a glimpse into the twisted path both girls were sent on. Kenzi had been trying to get her records from there for a while now, but when she did, big chunks were missing, or they were extremely redacted. (previous books)
Now, Kenzi is back at Radley, trying to break free of her past with the help of a psychiatrist who is independent from the establishment.
I don't know how many more books will be in this series, but I'll be reading them. They are fast-paced, immersive, and haunting stories.
Lost Echoes is book #9 in the Brannon House series by Stacy Claflin.
Wow! The Radley drama/trauma is wrapped up. I think I was holding my breathing the last several chapters. It’s hard to review and say what was so wonderful about this book without spoilers. Kenzi, Billa, Ember, and Luke were the main characters who each played a part in uncovering the truth of what was going on. And there were plenty of shocking surprises as we expect in Stacy Claflin books. I hope there is some way that this family can be revisited in the future. I highly recommend this book and the entire series!

I enjoyed reading this book. i think that the characters had deepened, and the storyline was good. lots of suspense, and a bit of darkness, Kenzie has grown as a character, and so has Ember and Luck. Billa was coming into herself as well. i really liked the character of Phoenix. The depth of the storyline was good. much more than just spooky ghosts. mind control and conditioning is, unfortunately, probably something that really happens. i will have to go back and read the few books in the series that i missed, but i was able to follow the plot. Give the series a read. It's good. Thank you, Stacy.
I couldn't put this book down, it was suspense-packed, dark and scary and I loved every minute of it.
Both Ember and Billa are trying to find out whatever they can about Radley. While Ember and Luke work their way through the dark web, Billa talks to a journalist who wants to gather enough proof to end Radley once and for all.
All the while Kenzie is in therapy but still living in an old memory of learning her lines for the next performance.
The more you read, the more you feel the pressure building and the fear spreading. Can survivors really make this all stop?!
Since I love this series it feels like a goodbye is in order while hoping Stacy will still come up with new ideas.
This book kept me up till the early mornings hours, I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. It was so worth the missed sleep.
This book was fast paced, you could see how much Ember had grown up in this book. Billa was so much more in this book. I loved it! Kenzie was so strong and gaining her strength throughout this book. I just really enjoyed these characters in this book!
I loved this book and would highly recommend it! If you’ve read the series this book really as a culmination to the story of Kenzie and Billa childhood memories.
Lost Echoes are coming reluctantly to life in Stacy Claflin's spine-chilling, psychological thriller, based around the members of the Brannon family - living and supposedly dead - but what's the truth?
Lies and long-buried secrets are triggered to life for three of the Brannons, as they probe the Radley Institution's haunted depths, in scenes that could be straight out of the Overlook Hotel.
Make sure you're ready for Lost Echoes, which is definitely not for the faint-hearted - and lock your doors and windows up tightly before you start!
This is the scariest one in this series. Kenzi is in a mental hospital reliving her childhood memories of when she was mind controlled. Her niece, her nieces boyfriend, and Kenzi's half-sister do research of their own, putting them in danger. Kenzi's psychiatrist becomes an ally. They will be a force to be reckoned with when they confront the head of the hospital experimenting with children.
When I first started this series, I had no idea what I was getting into. Stories of family, forgotten childhood memories, mind control, hypnosis … and you thought your family had issues! This is the final book in the series and the author exposes all of the dark secrets of the Brannon family. At least I think she did!
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
This has to be the best book of the series which is saying a lot since they’ve all been pretty great. A lot of loose ends tied up but still more to unravel. Ember and her boyfriend play a huge role in this story as of course does Kenzi and Billa. This time the rest of the regular characters take a back seat. Looking forward to whatever comes next!
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
Lost Echoes is the 9th book in the Brannon House series. Kenzie Brannon finds herself back in the psych ward where she was as a child. Billa, her half sister is facing her own struggles while she works with Ember to try and bring closure to not only Kinzie, but multiple others who were trapped with her not only years ago, but new victims that are still in the cycle. There are developed characters, and a well thought out plotline.
What a nail biting read. The tension in these pages is almost palpable. Will they be able to expose Dr. Radley and his programme or will all their efforts be for naught? If they do succeed, will they come out of it with their minds intact or be forever trapped in the play? You will not want to put this down.
I received a free Advance Reader Copy of this book through BookFunnel and have chosen to leave a review.
Wow!! This one was a great ending to the series! Kenzie is stuck in the performance that Radley started. Survivors are trying to band together to expose all the experiments. Can they expose them before something happens to them? I was literally holding my breath in a few spots. Very well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
When I first started reading this book, I wondered why the author gave it this title. She definitely answered my question and I loved it. What a great ending to this series. So many twists, turns, ups and downs I felt like I was on a roller coaster. Loved the different perspectives from several of the characters. Sorry to see this one end and you will not be disappointed.
Lost Echoes is a fantastic psychological thriller. The secrets and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat! So much drama, twists and turns. The ups and downs felt like a roller coaster ride! A page-turner
Abso-freaking-lutely amazing! This book was so amazing, a complete psychological mind-freak. The parts with Kenzi in the psych ward were chilling. I had to read the chapters in clumps because I had to clear my head and take a breath. Loved it!
Kenzi wakes up in a psychiatric ward with no idea why or what happened. Full of suspense and danger that will keep you guessing as to what will be next. Loved every bit of the book from this talented author.
I have been waiting to see how this series would end, and I'm sorry to say that I was a little disappointed. It felt disconnected from the rest of the series. Kind of like a reboot, but with the same characters. And those characters seemed like they were trying too hard to fit back into their role. I also feel that some things were left unresolved or unsaid. I still have questions. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the writing. There's still plenty of suspense, and I can't wait to read more of Stacy Claflin's work. However, the story itself was a let down. The end was a little anticlimactic.
I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
